Watching the Traveler wake up to finally do something after YEARS of laying dormant (in Destiny 1) to hide itself from its enemy... you have no idea how much the last scene stirred up the community! It's honestly one of my favourite scenes because we see how far the travelers light spanned across the universe
Hearing that little musical theme at the very end, and then realizing how that much represents long term, is crazy as someone who didn't start really playing until Witch Queen. Excited to see you get through everything in between and connect the dots.
Thanks for doing this. It was a nice bit of nostalgia for me. The Guardian was pretty OP, but I like his Titan style of play - in your face, and very aggressive. Looking forward to more Destiny on this channel. I will be watching.
Watching the crash of the Almighty into earth real time was an event for real. I still remember watching with my clan mates from the tower and it was crazy! It’s always cool to revisit this era of Destiny 2 And RIP to the Speaker. He was a real one.
19:03 Just in case you didn't pick up on it, and I know you didn't ask, but hey, I like random trivia; the reason that mission is called 1AU is because in astronomical terms, an AU is an Astronomical Unit, 1 AU is the average distance between the Earth and the Sun, which is approximately 150 million kilometers (93 million miles). 45:06 Additionally, the 'necklace' that Lamon Grox, Ghaul's consul, is wearing is partially made from the cores of dead ghosts.
The reason that Bungo gave when they removed it was that there wasn't enough space to keep it in the game for old console users (Xbox 360 and PS3) and that it make the game incredibly unstable. Despite the removal, the game still went through several month stints of horrendously unstable phases... I would love to see them bring the missions back, but leave out the open world wanderings, besides Nessus and Titan are still around (though Titan disappeared for a little while) and they already have a too short summarization with Ikora now, under a "timeline meditation" activity, but I would love to see all of the story missions to added to that interface so that you could get the entire story, they could then tie this into the initiation of new guardians, after new light send them to Ikora and meditate with her, where she reveals the history of the guardians. (They can then expand the timeline memories to include entire campaigns that have been removed, but boiled down to the non-open world stuff) There are plenty of seasonal stories that would be great to be able to play through again in an archive, as well as old campaigns like the old warmind story in OG destiny 2, which is referenced from time to time in modern content. (Or it was)
@@alsie4851 right, my bad, it was the original Xbox One and PS4 consoles, which still didn't run it nearly as well compared to the PC release which came months later.
That's a very weak argument for not bringing this content back. That "it doesn't make sense because those areas have been lost to the witness." There is plenty of story content in destiny that takes place in the past. Literally, the first mission in the game is taking place at the same time as Destiny 1. Not to mention all the strikes and raids, destinations. The entire game is made up of content that isn't currently relevant to the latest story. But that's a good thing, because it allows people to catch up to the latest story. Of course, not to mention that you can replay the campaigns that are still in the game. Why would these campaigns be any different? Just like in Shadowkeep or Beyond light, you're going back in time, seeing The Moon or Europa as they were before the events of each campaign.
The only reason I can think of to not bring it back is resources. They said they want to work on new stuff, which I get, but red war is so old that it’ll be new to lots of folk. Only problem is, once you play it once, there’s not a lot of replayability and Bungie needs people to replay content (that’s just the model of the game) to make it worthwhile
@@justatest429 they said that it would take up too much space. as of this comment, it is 134GB on steam without the old content. plus they will also need to update some of the old stuff do to their engine being updated when beyond light came out
@@NevRChrome Yeah, that's the biggest thing I think that is blocking it from coming back at this point. They'd have to rebuild a lot of it to work with the new engine, and that takes time and money that they can't spare for the foreseeable future. There's no way they could justify charging for it, and without some kind of return on investment it just isn't likely to happen (unless this is their plan for the new player experience they said they were continuing to work on, but I doubt it)
@@johnromero6315 they really just gotta bring back the old raids. revamp the armor and weapons, maybe tweak a few mechanics, but thats really it. that shouldnt take up too much space compared to bringing back whole campaigns that had maps specifically for a mission just to never be used again. but, with the state of destiny up in the air, its just not gonna happen or even be considered in the future
My initial thoughts for bringing back the Red War and Forsaken were essentially the same like yours. I had an idea for a potential "Story Mode" people could switch in and out of that would put players in a separate instance of the game back when all the planets were available in their original states. Then I realized that they would have to COMPLETELY rebalance every encounter because of power creep. They could try and place a power cap for the campaign that rises as you progress but even then, outside of our Guardian light and dark powers, even our weapons and their synergies have just gotten MUCH too powerful for those campaigns.
I always considered the Red War “the Raider of lost ark “episode. Our actions wouldn’t have made a difference. He still would have opened the traveller and his face would melted off.
The Traveler didn't destroy the Almighty. Ghaul may have waited longer before taking the Light by force, but when the Traveler destroyed him, wouldn't the older Cabal have just fired the Almighty and destroyed the sun and solar system? At that point, the Traveler would likely leave and humanity would be gone.
Unfortunately, there's other content from the Red War era that you would also have to watch if you want to experience because it has also been removed from the game. Namely, the first 3 raids in Destiny 2 all no longer exist. They all take place on the location of a giant ship called the Leviathan, which the location itself has since been removed. The Leviathan raid released with Red War, the Eater of Worlds raid released with the Curse of Osiris dlc, and the Spire of Stars raid released with the Warmind dlc. A 4th raid called Crown of Sorrows that also took place on the Leviathan came out much later and is also removed. A hop over to Datto's or some similar channel for the mechanic explanation and a reaction to a quick run of each raid should take about an hour.
Day one D1 and D2 player here and I just wanted to show my appreciation for these videos. I literally grew up with destiny, I was only 10 when D1 dropped and I’m 20 now 😂. I remember faking being sick so I could skip school for the day and play the new expansions😭. I love the game still although I miss what it was for nostalgia purposes. I remember the og commercials going so hard too. I would give anything to play it all again for the first time man, this game is apart of my childhood. Please open the content vault bungie 🙏
Yeah I really enjoyed this, brings back memories. I’m a day one veteran D1 and D2 still playing. You did better than I did my first time though. Enjoyed video ❤
2:31 basically there were several reasons it was removed. The content was very old and buggy which consumed considerable development time and resources every time they made a new thing, because it had to be compatible with the old stuff. It also was several years old by the time it was removed and bungie did internal statistics that showed that very few people were regularly playing through the older content. Also the file size of destiny at the time was becoming rather monstrous and was for sure not sustainable. I miss the red war too, but I see the sense in removing it.
While content vaulting is not the most ideal way to go about it, I do kind of agree with what they did given that Bungie has a specific development timeline they need to adhere to in order to regularly push out the amount of content Destiny 2 currently has. Having to keep going back to Y1 content and check if they didn't break anything there for QA testing sounds absolutely tough on their team's ends. I do think it would've been great to have an abridged version of the Red War in the timeline section, just so they could cherry pick missions to bring back into the game.
That very last scene where you see how the energy/light pulse of the traveler touches different planets. Every planet was a DLC up to Beyond Light, which came 3 years after the launch of D2.
The subclasses are drastically different now than from the red war videos. Those guardians were using 2.0 subclasses with preset modes for each subclass but now with the inclusion of 3.0 subclasses our abilities are customizable, we also now have access to dark powers and prismatic which lets us use both light and dark simultaneously the most hilarious thing about Ghaul saying that he's become legend is for the most part he's forgettable compared to what we have faced over the years. For forsaken and beyond light there are race specific dialogue for a certain race, awoken for forsaken and exo for beyond light. Can't wait to see what your reactions to whatever you see next as well as your journey as a guardian
So excited for all of the expansions and other content in between. Amazing to hear that Ghaul is forgettable considering I felt that he was a great villain. Can only imagine what’s to come. Thanks for being here!
@dpatriot4130 he was a decent villian during that time but he can't compete with the likes of Savathun who had so much more time built up from years worth of doing things in the background and finally getting to fight her in witch queen, then you have the witness in final shape who orchestrated the first collapse and wants to "finalize" everything, ghaul just can't compete on the level of gods which is fine since he was a launch villian and many who started destiny 2 never fought oryx the taken king so it's a good starting point for their journey
So great. It may do you well to watch/read about some of the stuff that happened in between these expansions. Lots of seasonal stuff like what happened to the Almighty, city stuff, etc.
I really like the approach you took to getting into Destiny. I've been here for all the ups and downs of this game, and I still enjoy it, honestly. Looking forward to your thoughts and plays as you getting into the next chapters. Eyes up guardian.
Beautiful cant wait to watch you in there. Little more lore for you: if you look at the weapons some of them have different elements/flavors, and some do not. For example the machine gun the guardian was using had a fire symbol which meant it shoots solar/fire. . . . . However this isn't 100% the case. If the weapon was given to Hawthorne (the human non-guardian) it would shoot normal rounds. The/any guardian infuses their own Light into the weapon platform shifting it, changing it into the element. (No you dont get to pick an choose) but thats whats happening lore wise. This is why the Guardians guns are so powerful. They literally shoot space magic
When you find out that the Nine were responsible for the Red Legion's invasion on the Last City, since they're the ones who disabled the vanguard satellites, therefore them being unable to detect the menace until it was too late. While the nine just wanted to know how humanity would survive (or if it would even survive) without the light. So basically humanity was just The Nine's experiment :P
i remember destroying the Almighty, dunking the fusion core and standing back waiting for something to happen... then realised the escape was timed lmao. Then when Gaul rises again, i remember thinking 'crap now I've got to fight him like that' The last part of the final cutscene is the awakening of the Pyramid ships. Of course none of that made sense back then. Looking back its really impressive how the story was put together. Glad you enjoyed watching this. It was an epic journey. Beaten IMO only by TFS campaign.
it really is cool to watch someone experience this with fresh eyes, they should add it back to the game. funny how the difficulty of these missions are akin to a walk in the park with all the build crafting and the critical mass of power creep we've hit
i think the most frustrating part of them not adding it back in some small way at least is the fact that they added a legacy tab to play thru key missions from past seasons and expansions so u can get the gist of whats going on and theres no reason they couldnt have added it to that, really just a shame all the hard work of the team essentially got relegated to the bin. particularly cause they have made the decision to not content vault again along with un vaulting the weapons they did put in the vault because we power crept so hard that all the weapons they got rid of because they were too good are now so weak theyre unusable, boils down to kind of a lose lose in the end. but i digress
I'm unsure if anyone mentioned this in the other videos. But depending if you played D1 and all dlc's. You might get special dialog. One of them being shax calling you a young wolf.
Though I enjoyed the campaign, I was a little disappointed with the ending. I thought Ghaul was going to turn face when he walked away from the Consul the first time telling him this is not the way. I though the ending would have been better if the Consul became the main Villain at that point. Kills Ghaul and trhe Speaker, takes the light for the end battle. Ghaul is ressurected by a ghost, frees the traveller that then destroys The Consul. Ghaul becomes the new Speaker (who actually "hears" the Traveller in the form of visions) and Cabal start to become Guardians.
This is a great take. For me, it worked. The consul needed Ghaul to execute his vision. Ghaul was overzealous because he had the chance to finally be “seen” I could be misinterpreting the undertone here, but it hit me that he was a “runt” that became powerful, had it all at his fingertips, but it wasn’t enough because he never had someone appreciate him. Crazy that the speaker died here too. That was insane
The reason why you don't see the boss's health bar on the final flight is because this player plays without a HUD. You can't see their ammo count or super bar either. It's a personal choice
First run of the Red War? Yeah, it was a lot tougher the first run through. Foresaken is great btw. One of Destiny’s best expansions. Dominus was destroyed for his arrogance. You cannot take the light, all Guardians are chosen by Ghosts, the emissaries of the Traveler and resurrected from death. Ghaul tried to take the light for himself and the Traveller destroyed him because of that. The epilogue is the pulse of light that the Traveller used to destroy Ghaul, reaching out far beyond the system and awakening the Pyramid ships of the Darkness, the Traveller’s ancient enemy.
Keep in mind that the player you’re watching is over levelled for this content. Yeah, it was a lot tougher the first run through. Foresaken is great btw. One of Destiny’s best expansions.
Patriot im curious, how much of destiny 2 have you seen? Believe I heard you say in one video that you used to play Destiny 1 did you ever try any raids? There's much more than meets the eye with destiny and it really shines in the end game.. raids, dungeons, exotic missions.. things that are really meant to be played after campaigns and building your character up, just curious how much you know about all that stuff.. dont skip out on it if you can help it.. ALOT of people play destinys campaign, strikes and crucible then think that's the game for the most part but that's when it truly begins. I really enjoy watching people's reactions to destiny man idk why lol especially someone that's rather new to it. I'm enjoying this and further more im hoping to see you react to / be a part of some raids or dungeons down the road.. harder end game content. In my humble opinion it's the best content that the video game industry has ever produced 👌 also when new dungeons or raids release there are day 1 worlds first community races on contest mode.. the content is scaled up to be harder, no tutorials or path markers.. raid belts titles and other rewards for winning/watching.. pretty big deal. Check out raid or dungeon zone on the channel evanf1997 whenever it's a good point in your journey, or just look into some worlds first races if you haven't.
Have not done anything in D2. The first video was it for gameplay. Watched the red war and will check out Osiris, warmind, and forsaken before jumping in myself. Slow burn I know….as far as D1 is concerned, played a lot way back when. A lot of PvP, but didn’t finish any expansions. I have the game on ps3 and ps4 including the taken king so need to revisit that as well. Never did a dungeon or any raid at all.
At least the Proving Grounds and The Arms Dealer strikes which are based on these locations of the expansion are in the game still. I know not the same as the whole campaign but at least something
It can be pretty easy doing this mission use your supers at the bosses not like he did I used to delete my character and run through everything all again but not any more since they took the red war off
I'd definitely like them to bring back some of the core missions of the Red War campaign, but the campaign itself was pretty mediocre at release. Watching these videos cuts out all of the busy work and time wasters that players had to go through on each planet, which makes the story infinitely better tbh.
So, there are a few things you should know about what you are watching here. 1)When D2 released there were no Hard mode or Legendary campaigns. Also, he’s obviously over leveled. 2) This was recorded back when there was virtually zero recoil on mouse and keyboard. That’s changed today. 3) His Reload seems to be maxed out on all his weapons so, he’s obviously using some kind of hack for that.
@@crabbypatty10fefrefe Nah, you don't see the weapon perks, just when it procs. His aren't the weapon pool we had back in the day when vanilla D2 just dropped.
1:05:20 "I need to get into Forsaken at this point.." You are not ready for Forsaken. Try to look into the story campaigns for "the Curse of Osiris" and "Warmind" DLCs first before moving onto "Forsaken" proper. Buffer yourself before going headlong into the earth-shattering events of the events that changed the course of Destiny 2 history and the entire community forever.

Awesome storyline, and glorious campaign quests.
Agreed!!!
Then when Gaul rises again, i remember thinking 'crap now I've got to fight him like that'
The last part of the final cutscene is the awakening of the Pyramid ships. Of course none of that made sense back then. Looking back its really impressive how the story was put together.
Glad you enjoyed watching this. It was an epic journey. Beaten IMO only by TFS campaign.
1:01:41 this was a HELL of a cinematic way to end the fight
Yea! Loved the campaign. I played this a few times (separately with 2 of my grandsons).
So incredible! Love this
it really is cool to watch someone experience this with fresh eyes, they should add it back to the game. funny how the difficulty of these missions are akin to a walk in the park with all the build crafting and the critical mass of power creep we've hit
i think the most frustrating part of them not adding it back in some small way at least is the fact that they added a legacy tab to play thru key missions from past seasons and expansions so u can get the gist of whats going on and theres no reason they couldnt have added it to that, really just a shame all the hard work of the team essentially got relegated to the bin. particularly cause they have made the decision to not content vault again along with un vaulting the weapons they did put in the vault because we power crept so hard that all the weapons they got rid of because they were too good are now so weak theyre unusable, boils down to kind of a lose lose in the end. but i digress
59:39 he normally has a health bar, this creator turned his hub off again.
Also, Don't skip "Curse of Osiris" and "Warmind" despite what people may say.
Well said
Keep in mind that the player you’re watching is over levelled for this content. Yeah, it was a lot tougher the first run through.
Foresaken is great btw. One of Destiny’s best expansions.
59:51 you having your HUD off was sad cos i love seeing health bats drain and stuff. Still, great video!
Unfortunately, this titan play through was the easy difficulty, but you were able to experience it none the less.
This was so good compared to what new players get nowadays. Im glad to have played through it back then. Man Bungie screwed up big time removing it.
At least the Proving Grounds and The Arms Dealer strikes which are based on these locations of the expansion are in the game still. I know not the same as the whole campaign but at least something
Also, this campaign was hella fun! ❤
Whose footage is this btw? I think I forgot if you mentioned it in the first episode
Will you be playing the raids also? When you get to the expansions they are from
Absolutely!
The intro 😂😂
Sweet ❤
AIM!!!!!
How can I play this now?
Can’t play it. This is a reaction video.
Those weapons are pretty shit tbf
So, there are a few things you should know about what you are watching here.
1)When D2 released there were no Hard mode or Legendary campaigns. Also, he’s obviously over leveled.
2) This was recorded back when there was virtually zero recoil on mouse and keyboard. That’s changed today.
3) His Reload seems to be maxed out on all his weapons so, he’s obviously using some kind of hack for that.
? suros weapons just reload quick anyway
@@crabbypatty10fefrefe Nah, you don't see the weapon perks, just when it procs. His aren't the weapon pool we had back in the day when vanilla D2 just dropped.
1:05:20 "I need to get into Forsaken at this point.."
You are not ready for Forsaken.
Try to look into the story campaigns for "the Curse of Osiris" and "Warmind" DLCs first before moving onto "Forsaken" proper. Buffer yourself before going headlong into the earth-shattering events of the events that changed the course of Destiny 2 history and the entire community forever.
Yes I agree
