Alundra is great if you’re a 2d Zelda fan. Azure Dreams is you have the Pokémon itch with a hint of dating sim. Fighting force series if you’re a beat em up fan. Syphon Filter for THE TAZER Lunar SSS for some good ol rpg fun
Oh I remember playing Galaxy Fight at the local arcade as a teen, and also on Saturday nights. 😎 The computer AI definitely makes you work for your wins just like other SNK fighters. 😓
How about "Tecmo's Deception" for a future PS1 feature? That way people can play Deception IV on their Vita and then time-travel back to the start of the franchise to see how the whole "trap heroes, torture good guys, be bad" series started.
Hey not a bad idea there Baron! I really enjoy that series, I think the first one I ever experienced was Trapped on the PS2? Or maybe Trapz? I can't remember at the moment what it was called.
I had many a great time playing the original Tecmo's Deception, and I believe the direct sequel as well. Never got into the later entries. I remember the original game's save file took up the entire freaking memory card worth of space (or nearly all of it). I think I still have my original file on my GameShark Pro that has like a 50 card capacity. That reminds me, I should check that out someday soon...
The game that made me want to buy a PlayStation is _Driver._ I've been a Sony Pony ever since, and I am so glad to have it downloaded on my Vita. It's officially purchasable from the PAL PlayStation Store. Also, the _Syphon Filter_ PS1 trilogy is purchasable on the store too, so give it some love too.
It's pronounced, Rah-zee-El, yeah I kind of cringed when I heard it lol. If you played the game you can hear its pronunciation in the very beginning. The Elder God speaks to Raziel right before the opening movie ends. I wouldn't say it's hidden at all though. Has a pretty big following and a lot of us original fans are wishing for a remastered version. I first played Soul Reaver on PC, on its original release.
Ok, after playing on it a bit last night, I'm going to say Shadow Tower is a pretty good one. It is a first person RPG, very similar to King's Field, so it does have that slow feel to it. It might be the same company that made it, I'm not sure. I do have to add that the default controls kind of suck, but I went in and set up like a more modern FPS and it's pretty good. Again it is slow and there is a lot of running in and striking, then backing away to avoid being hit, but I'm enjoying so far.
It is the same company, From Software. Agree on the default controls being crap. I think it was designed with the original playstation controller in mind without the analog sticks, but on the vita that's not a problem since you can just shift things around to your liking. If there's one major criticism I'd still give this game it's that the enemy AI and pathfinding can be just pitiful to watch at times lol. But the game is still fun and worth going through for the interesting RPG mechanics and to see all the dozens of insane creature designs. I swear there should have been a 'wtf is that' section in the beastiary.
Ace Combat 3 Electrosphere is such a good game, it wasn't underrated but the Japanese version is definetely the superior version that most missed because of language barrier. The best part is that they released an english patch so now we can enjoy the story. I truly recomend it.
@PSVita at 2 am Sorry for the late response. No.. and thinking a little bit i don't even know how i know this game at all. Playstation don't launched the PSone officially here on Brazil, but they came anyways btw. :)

I played a little Soul Reaver when I had my ps2.. was a pretty sweet game at the time.
Yeah and a franchise I really wish they would bring back, such a shame that the series has been all but forgotten these days.
Alundra is great if you’re a 2d Zelda fan.
Azure Dreams is you have the Pokémon itch with a hint of dating sim.
Fighting force series if you’re a beat em up fan.
Syphon Filter for THE TAZER
Lunar SSS for some good ol rpg fun
Excellent suggestions there Jay. In fact I did mention Alundra in my very first PS1 games on PS Vita middle of last year.
Hug your Vita folks.
Hugging it right now!
Oh I remember playing Galaxy Fight at the local arcade as a teen, and also on Saturday nights. 😎 The computer AI definitely makes you work for your wins just like other SNK fighters. 😓
Yep you can definitely tell it comes from that era!
Awesome I'll have to add this to my list a future games to mention in this segment. Thanks for the suggestions!
Oh yeah, I had that too. The game had a staggering amount of pop-up and tearing, but still great fun to play.
Driver was a great game, that first tutorial in the garage was as hard as the last mission, damn reverse 180!
Funny im on SF right now ( episode 2 ) always love that serie
Ahhh....Soul Reaver. Also known as *Box Pushing Simulator* lol.
Hahaha!
dude! this kind of info is GOLDDD!
Thank you jota, I'm glad you found it helpful. I plan to make a part 2 to this sometime in the future.
Raziel pronunciation is like nail on a chalk board lol- but it’s cool those are some sweet gems
I know, me and my bad pronunciations. ;_;
Shadow Tower eh? I will have to add that to my bucket list! :)
Threads of Fate by Squaresoft is one such hidden gem of a PS1 game that everyone should check out.
Oh man there's a game I haven't heard of in such a long time, great choice!
@@PSVitaat2am Thanks, James! It really is a game Square kinda forgot over the years and would like to see a sequel for it... or at least a remaster.
Man I was just playing dino crysis 2 on the way to work. Great timing 😁
That's awesome man it fit with the theme! XD
Cool Boarders 1 & 2 are excellent hidden gems if you're into snowboarding racers.
Oh yeah those were super fun games, so much nostalgia!
Ace Combat 3 Electrosphere is such a good game, it wasn't underrated but the Japanese version is definetely the superior version that most missed because of language barrier. The best part is that they released an english patch so now we can enjoy the story. I truly recomend it.
Really! I wasn't aware of the English patch, I'll have to try that out myself too! Thanks for the heads up buddy! 🙂
A shame my Vita's memory has already capped, but I can still download games like Galaxy Fight on the Switch.
No matter which way you choose to experience it you're in for a treat!
Soul Reaver was amazing, I played it on the Dreamcast.
Good times good times! 😁
I found blockids such a great game, gonne "find" somewhere.. And i leave here my contribution, 3xtreme ( PS1 ) sports racing title. Such a great gem.
That game sounds familiar, is that the one that was one of the launch titles for the PS1?
@PSVita at 2 am Sorry for the late response. No.. and thinking a little bit i don't even know how i know this game at all. Playstation don't launched the PSone officially here on Brazil, but they came anyways btw. :)
I don't know, but that mermaid in that game between 4:37 and 4:56 definitely has some issues, my goodness! Her blood pressure must be off the charts! 😆
Hahaha! She must have a hard life. XD
I use to play battle hunter all the time when I was a little Raiko
It's always great to see more people know about this game, it's so underrated in my opinion.
I play my PS1 games on my PSTV and save my Vita for Vita games. Works best for me.
Cool, I was playing my PS1 games on my PS3, but I found a lot of those games just don't look so good on a bigger HD TV. They look do look good on a Vita though. They also look good on a CRT.
I relate to you there Amanda! I'm the same way with my Vita and my PSTV. When I use for digital games and the other I use for my physical collection.
haven't played much ps1 games, but these look great, especially if you can play it on the go
Yes that's certainly the best part about them.
Never dipped into ps1 games might have to give some a try! Thanks for the recommendations!
Grandia, Metal Gear Solid and Jade Cocoon are my top 3 reccomends.
My pleasure, I would also suggest reading the comments on this video many people here have given some great suggestions just like Decoy did here!
Soul reaver oooh yeah... funny how after all that time i always come back to ps1 games.
And for good reason too, even to this day it it has such a fantastic library! :)
@@PSVitaat2am True :)
Oh God, I miss playing Soul Reaver!! I'm going to go cry now.
Hey it's never too late to revisit it. :)
@@PSVitaat2am Very true. It's just a shame that Crystal Dynamics and the other devs left the series to be forgotten. I think it would of excelled and be great for the Vita. Definitely would of helped in the life span of the console.
Legacy of Kain was great. Shame we never got a sequel to defiance because that game was really great.
Hopefully someday they'll bring back the franchise.
Galaxy fight was worth the video.
Yes definitely! Sunsoft did a good job in my opinion.
Gotta say ps1 games work very well on ps vita glad it does for on the go for resident evil classics and parasite Eve a square Enix version of resident evil I use my 8 gb memory card for ps1 games
Always a pleasure to meet a fellow Parasite Eve, I even enjoyed The Third Birthday for what it was.
Plus Battle Hunter can play with 4 friends on one system
I haven't tried it but is that doable on a PlayStation TV?
@@PSVitaat2am It totally should. All you need to do is hit "Select" during the menu's and you should see your feather-cursor change color. You can then load another character to that color creating 2 human controlled Hunters. I don't think the story advances with 2+ playing.
But hey! There's a video topic idea: "Multiplayer on One Vita"
I only know one other, "Doodle Pool"
Tomba 2
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I really want a PSVITA for all these PS1 classics on the Go I do have Soul Reaver and Blood of Omen Legacy of Kain on my PS3 which I can transfer if I buy a VITA
Hey all the more reason to get one right? The PS Vita has such a great backlog of games especially when you see all of the past legacy platforms it supports. 🙂
Played lots of Soul Reaver on PS1 and yes, I got lost too... 😜
Hahaha! Glad to see I'm not alone! XD
soul reaver is back baby!
This year hopefully the store dosnt shut down i want 2 more games or so tear away and god of war collection
Because of all the backlash Sony received in the past, I can't see them shutting it down anytime soon. At least not this year anyway.
All I have to say is "Gunner's heaven". That's it 😁😁😁
Hey that's all that needs to be said! 😀
Soul reaver Hidden gem? So gex 2, syphon filter are Hidden too?
Yes sir. The physical copies are going for 50-80 dollars. I've been waiting for him to mention Soul Reaver since I found this channel. The first game I ever purchased. Love it soo much.
@@juanhermosillo7322 I think the point is that the game was pretty popular and isn't really a "hidden" gem, it's just a gem. As James mentioned in the video it's more of a forgotten game, not so much a hidden gem. Unfortunately, as years go by, I think more PS1 titles are becoming forgotten titles.
@@beatnicksodyssey I'm just upset that Castlevania keeps on getting remastered, while this Iconic series gets forgotten in the sidelines. The first two entries where just so technologically advanced for it's time. The Voice acting makes it a more enjoyable and still gives me the chills. I was 12 when I bought this game back in 1999 and have a giant tattoo on my back as a result. Love this game.
Admittedly it was a series that people knew about back in the day, but I feel like it's been pretty forgotten currently. I guess it depends on your definition.
Soul Reaver is awesome! Check out N2O. It's like Tempest went to a rave. Soundtrack by Crystal Method!
Awesome, I'll have to check it out!
I have Soul Reaver, one of the best!
I really wish the series wasn't so forgotten these days.
The Legacy of Kain lives on lol
Klonoa: Door to Phantomile
For anyone who wants to play this 250+ dollar game for just 6 bucks
Very true! The digital version is definitely the way to go if you don't want to hurt the old pocketbook.
If someone can explain to me how you're physically supposed to play Echo Night on Vita, I would be eternally grateful.
From what I remember Chris, that game is compatible with the PSP, PS Vita, and PS3. It may be one of those annoying PS3 transfers to get on Vita, not sure.
@@PSVitaat2am Biggest issue I have with it is that it's a point & click game & I can't figure out how to look down. I got a far as looking left, right, & up, then soft locked myself because I couldn't look down again.
Is the LOK game called Defiance or that a separate game?
Defiance is the final game in the Legacy of Kain saga.
@@FatalistDC I fear Soul Reaver is one of those titles he was saying you needed to link up a Playstation 3 to take advantage of on the Vita
Depending on where your region is it might be, as I know the game isn't available in all regions anymore sadly.
Soul Reaver is definitely not a hidden gem. Maybe among Vita games I could see that, but it was a pretty big deal when it released. I just actually booted up my copy on Dreamcast a few days ago, still super fun. While not a Vita port, the original Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen is far more of a legit hidden gem.
I guess I can see where you're coming from with that, maybe it would be more appropriate to call this game a forgotten gem.
@@PSVitaat2am Right on, its definitely a forgotten franchise. I was surprised to see so many comments talking about it though.
Hey I've not been on the psvita community for a while so I'm a bit behind. Are they still closing it or will it keep open with the PS3 as I remember Sony going back on their decision but not sure if that's still the case.
Yes the store is going to be remaining up for the foreseeable future according to Sony, though I still would recommend getting as many games as you can while you can just in case. 🙂
James, what is it like in your fantasy world? And can I get whatever you’re drinkin?
I can say this, it has lots of root beer and waifus in it! XD
Thank you
No problem! 😁
If we could only get the games they released in Japan on the Vita or a new one
You technically can if you have a Japanese account, of course you'll need their currency in order to purchase the games digitally.
How do I play it on my vita I can't find it in the store
Which game are you referring to? If you can find it it may have since been delisted.
Deception. Extremely corny but it is fun to trap and torture enemies in hilarious traps.
I love that series! Really is unique. 🙂
Soul Reaver was great. Loved the world-morphing ability to solve puzzles etc. (Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart does a similar thing) It would be great to see an updated version of this.
Yes I totally agree with you man, or at least an updated HD remake or collection would be nice.
"...or you might have to do a little haggling...to get the games on your Vita."
I was sure you were going to use the phrase 'jiggery pokery' there instead of haggling. Consider it in the future, maybe in your homebrew videos?
Hey not a bad idea!
Bah...no one ever mentions wild arms or the misadventures of tron bonne
You know what's funny? I originally had Tron Bonne on this list but decided to omit it for Kegacy of Kain. I'll make sure to include it in part two.
IMAGINE PS5 GAMES ON PSVITA
I edited my comment I don't care
@Jumping Home Official it's fine if you don't care you could ignore it
@Jumping Home Official subricbed
PS5 games on PS Vita would be insane, my eyes would literally start bleeding from all the epicness!
Soul reaver legacy of Kain Im a big fan I even have the original disc, never see it on the vita etsep hacking mmm
Yeah unfortunately depending on what region you're from it might not be available.
What's another excited 2:00 a.m. I wanted to ask you what does it mean if a girl on your account when you personally brought or anything with the wrestling games you can't download what does it mean if it says zero all games have been used up put it on the PSP or PSP go
Hmmm that is an odd situation, are you sure you were on the proper account? It could be an error I suppose but I haven't heard of anybody going through this before.
so uh...i think you need another january homebrew vid cos...WE CAN FINALLY REMOVE USELESS SYSTEM APPS ON THE HOME SCREEN AND CUSTOMISE BUBBLES TO OUR HEART'S CONTENT!!
...i mean i think it's big news...
Oh really? Interesting, I'll have to look into this! Thanks for the heads up!
@@PSVitaat2am it's on the vita homebrew app, 1 for removing system apps, and 1 for editing bubbles. Also I can confirm they work first hand
I love WakuWaku7
Always a pleasure to meet a fellow fan of the game. :)
Duuuude battle hunters. So many hours
Ah see? Joshua knows what's up! 😁
Mega man Legends
Mega man Legends 2
Tron Bonne
Got to say I like your style Medic!
