Vanilla Rome Total War, ah the good old days. Love playing it to this day.
I always loved playing as the Brutii because their faction color blends well with most mercenary units.
We Brutii are the only true romans.
It's funny how a standard rome campaign is more interesting to me than the SUPER CHALLENGING REFORMATION OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE
Brutii are the Sons of Rome!
The fact that mercenaries are green and the brutii are green makes mercenaries fit so well in brutii armies
Rome: Total War, hands down my favourite game of all time! Nothing comes close to the amount of time I've sunk into this game. Graphics may age, but the gameplay is timeless. Thanks for doing the campaign +LegendofTotalWar :)
Gotta be one of my top favorite games of all time. There's actually a lot of little subtleties about this game that put it above the newer titles in my opinion. One of my favorites is the retinue system. Really feels like a passing of the torch.
Why the heck did this pop up for me now in Nov. 2022? Not that I’m complaining. Just an interesting choice by the algorithm.

my first campaign on this game was the scipii simply because the emblem was a Wolf and the portrait when you clicked on it had a guy with a cool helmet on :P
They killed 3 men
Ah, the Brutii, the funnest Roman faction IMO.
What I love about this game (apart from everything) is the fact that when it came out, I thought "this isn't possible", and yet it was and the machine I had could run it reasonably well. So many great memories. Coming from the original Medieval, this was a huge leap forward and was a stand-out title back then and stands out even now as being a great game. Love it. :)
This music is much better than anything I've heard Rome 2. Rome 1's soundtrack is a really popular mod for both R2/Attila for a reason. I guess. Decided to watch a Rome 1 LP just to see how it differs from Rome 2 /Attila. Comparisons about depth are apparently not exaggerations.
Legend, please please please, just open a Patreon. I'd rather give you 10 or 20 dollars a month of my income instead of watching ads. Its more efficient.
the game that made me love the total war series and military history
I always found the Brutii to be the easiest of the 3 roman factions early game; when conquering the greek city states you get big cash real fast. You get a faster start compared to the other roman factions in that aspect.
I think you nailed perfectly what made this game so great. So easy to immerse yourself from running cities, family members, the music, seeing landmarks when fighting a battle (like fighting on Rhodes or the west coast of Asia Minor and seeing the wonders and nearby fleets in the water while fighting a battle? FUCKING AWESOME!) etc. Even the next game in the series Medieval 2 felt like a little bit of at step back (ex: cities are A LOT easier to keep in line). It's a pity Rome II fell flat on it's face because this game really deserved some updated loving
Hey Legend, decided I would pause AdBlock whenever I watch your videos -- you're easily my favorite TW UA-camr (you have a
