The talent per square foot on the stage can’t be calculated. Throw in the modesty and friendship factor. Now count yourself lucky enough to witness it. Priceless
@@barton_dean39 - That is really awesome ... I have not seen them quite that many times. Perhaps one of their most underrated tunes! Alex's guitar work is superb here. Man, this is a tour de force of musicianship. As tight as any band that has ever graced a stage.
To know the physical pain Neil endured on this tour and still played for us fans the way he did just makes me appreciate him even more 🙏 I doubt other drummers would do that, he’s not about the money he actually cares to play amazingly for the fans to get their money’s worth and enjoy the experience 🙏 just utterly amazing!
I saw them in St. Louis on this tour; fourth show of the tour IIRC. The first time I ever saw Neil look like he was having to work to play, and I’d seen most tours going back to 1981. Always concentrating, but never straining. This time you could see the toll it was taking. Totally respect the man for hanging up his spurs and calling it a career. May he Rest In Peace.
Some people say he didn't care for the fans much. Him playing through the pain proof how much he cares about the fans... he had enough money to quit at any time
Snakes and Arrows is a very underrated album. Not "typical" Rush, but it had this really cool like "just 3 dudes in a studio" kind of vibe. Very raw and not over-produced. The tour was awesome.
A few ays ago I had to have an MRI scan and before hand the nurse asked what music I would like to listen to. Not only did I get to spend a while enjoying some of my favourite music but I found another Rush fan. Small world.
I’m not sure if we are worthy of such enjoyment and amazement . Watching these three is spell -binding tag along .!!! How do they reproduce a classic even better then the vinyl original .? Neil of course never misses , Alex is over the moon and who seems to enjoy performing like Geddy .!?!? Years of work , friendship and skills make a thing of beauty even better .!
They will always be my favorite band, and I still can’t believe its been a year since Neil’s passed. They went out the right way, and didn’t retire and just call it quits without giving their fans one more tour. Geddy and Alex still play their instruments from time to time. Long live Rush, and RIP Neil.
Even though it was during probably one of their last shows ever, I'm humbled and extremely lucky to have seen these legends at MSG during the R40 tour. I wish I was around for the whole ride starting in the 70s, but I'll never forget that show.
@@daniel_h02 Besides the standard R40 songs, they played the Anarchist, One Little Victory, Losing It with Johnny Dinklage on violin, Jacob's Ladder, and Red Barchetta. So freaking epic, it's 6 years after the fact and I'm still crying tears of joy
RF440Y - Ive been a Rush fan for 40 years- o shit im old omg what do I do now lol - have a blast and listen to Rush of course 🍷🍺 much love and total respect to Professor Peart RIP 💔

For these dudes coming out playing in pain speaks volumes .A 40 yr. career in music at the top of your game is why Rush was and still is sooo popular. ❤❤❤
Low key one of their best songs. Geddy absolutely rips at 5:32. One of my biggest regrets is only seeing them live once when i was in high school in 08.
Man I wish they'd release the whole show on youtube or streaming service. I saw it in pdx, and while I don't want to buy physical media, I'd like to be able to revisit the memories when I need a boost.
I know that Neil struggled a lot during this tour and he was in pain, but man... he still nailed it! I'm sad because I never had the opportunity to see them live.
I saw them about 6 times in total. Twice during the Vapor Trails tour. What a set list. I took what was my future wife at the time and she hadn't really heard them outside when i played Rush in the car. We were dating for about 4 months before the vapor trails tour and had lawn tickets. She sat down for O'Baterista. I said "What are you doing?" "I don't really like drum solos" she said "So, this is Neal Peart" She stood up and was mesmerized for the 8 min solo. She basically said "Holy jesus fuck that's awesome!"
The guys have been the soundtrack to my life from first love, job, marriage, and daily life whatever it brings there with me whether they realize it or not thank you guys for helping me with being a husband ,father I try to teach my son your music is life lessons
Ok I have seen lots of famous bands in my lifetime and I have to say that Rush is probably one of the few bands that sounds better live than on their albums. In fact, I play the drums and I only play to their live versions because I like them so much better.
Somehow they manage to still have that classic Rush power-trio sound. Plus, you see their extraordinary timing and musicianship fully intact. Inspired playing!
First time I ever heard Rush, I was on the school bus and Tom Sawyer played, I was in the 8th grade been a fan ever since!! This Band changed the way I fewd rock music, they changed my life and the way I listen to music! THE BEST BAND EVER!!
Look at this legend, Neil is to drums like Eddie is to guitars. Neil doesn't flail around like an idiot like a lot of these drummers do or like Animal does. Miss him so much. Rush was my era and their music will live on forever. Rip Neil and Ed.
Neil is to drums like Alex is to guitars like Geddy is to bass, thats one of the reasons Rush is so amazing. (Seriously though, Alex is a vastly underrated guitarist)
They were SO good . . . Missing the fact that we don't have new music from them . I always wondered what sort of 'shift' the new albums would take and I would have such a growing sense of expectation as the release date grew closer.
I can’t tell you how many times we rode around out on the gravels getting high and blasting this song and other Rush back in high school and college. This one really brought back those memories
I know this video has been on UA-cam for a few years and most of the comments are old as well. But I had to make a comment. I am 65 years old, but I am late to the "Rush party". I totally overlooked them and am so sorry for it! I used to consider them as a "poor man's Led Zeppelin or Yes". However, this song in particular, is one of the greatest live rock songs I've ever heard. Ever. It just rocks.
Such incredible talent!! They are brothers of over 40 years!! They have brought so much pleasure to so many people!! Their lyrics have inspired and re-resurrected me many times!! God bless you Neil....may you rest in Peace!
I first heard this at the R40 show in Philadelphia. I kind of missed out on Rush in the 21st century but here I was amazed that they could up their instrumental game even then.
I become significantly emotional (...to a slightly painful degree at times) when I listen to, watch, or even just think about these guys... especially videos from tours that I saw. I know many of you have seen them on many, many tours and on dozens of occasions...but for being born in 1995, I consider myself very lucky to have seen them six times... the final of which, was at The Forum in Inglewood for this very tour. They're just so powerful and have such a profound meaning in my life. I share my love of them with my parents, who introduced me as a young child. I also share my love with all of you guys! It's amazing how fellow fans of this band are almost like one big extended family...and we 'get' each other (as many elsewhere in our lives do not) ...and it's even inspired me to become a musician myself. My life would not be what it is without Rush. I have so many fond memories, and I look back with mostly inspiration and joy...but the thought that I will never experience that again directly does weigh on me at times... it exists now only in my memories, and in my passions. I will say, though...the sadness does bring a certain amount of motivation for me to put everything I've got into my own music, and persist in pursuing the things in life that I love. I don't think I could thank them enough...
Damn. I miss seeing these guys live. At least I got to take in quite a few Rush shows from 1996 to 2015. But still. Seeing performances like this again make me pine for the past!

@@Edu_Alvisand Me!
One of their best albums.
Great album. I like em all, except Vapor Trails. I’ll give them a break on that because they had just got back together after Neil’s family tragedies.
It's my favourite of their later career for sure.
You can tell these guys loved playing this song that night❤❤❤❤❤
It even more saddening to think how Alex and Geddy are dealing with the loss of their bandmate and most importantly friend of more than 40 years.
Their friendship is even stronger than their musical skills.
I think of this very same thing often.......sigh
@Steve Adams He was too young. RIP.

Geddy Lee is my Bass Icon Who Got me into Bass Guitar 🎸 And I saw Rush in Concert in Dallas Texas on the Snakes 🐍 and Arrows Tour
Rush is the pinnacle of integrity - in every sense - in popular music. Period.
Ged makes the bass such a fucking cool instrument.
Ged makes anything look cool, even robes and foxtails
19 albums of amazing music on every level, they don't cut corners on anything. THAT'S what musicians should be.
I just witnessed perfection! What a privilege to have grown up and witnessed this trio for the last forty years. Thank you for the music!
The bass on this live version is better than the studio
Jack I couldn’t agree more!
Rush always smoked live
They always improve live, its what makes them so awesome!!
It’s different seein Ged play a Bass that isn’t His iconic Black n’ White Fender Jazz 😉
