The fact that you felt bad for not telling the truth to that guy is awesome and a great trait of yours. The fact you felt bad and wanted to go make it right is a great lesson for young ones to learn, something awesome that a lot of people probably overlooked. Love it!
Great "trip". Very entertaining. Another classic river camping trip with some comedy and a good lesson in morality. The truth will set you free. Thanks and God bless brother.
Well you convinced me. I went out today and bought my first ever kayak. Thanks for the motivation guy. Love the videos. I live in Georgia. If ever over this way let’s hit a river
"Risk and Reward" "Doing the right thing" Entertaining, fun to watch, This yankee admires some good ole southern boy ways. Especially today Thanks for being you Trip. And havin fun doing it.
Trip, the place you started is literally where I grew up. My parents owned that place about 40 years ago. It was a different name back then. That place with the no wake sign used to be known as Sandy Point, I don't know if that's still the name. My family still lives there, although my dad has passed. I still go back and love that area. There is great fishing in that river also.
I love that area too, although I did not grow up there or in Florida or the America for that matter(I grew up overseas as my parents worked for the State Department) I discovered it when my dad/mom retired in Gainesville. My dad and I love fishing that area. I just purchased a 13' gheenoe and will be looking to do more adventuring up in that area more...now that I am retired from the coast guard
Incredible adventure. Love the Trip Dips! We went to our first spring last year because of your videos and had one of the best days of our vacation. I love that little boat too...Thanks Trip!
Dude more guitar picking and singing I love my old country music I have really enjoyed watching some of your videos but I didn't know you were such a good singer peace be the journey
Just finished watching this adventure. By far the best one you have done, in my opinion. I like the shorts. They match your hat. See ya my friend. Talk to you soon about the podcast interview.
Really no snorkeling (free diving) allowed in the in that one spring? That's crazy. I've been to that spring before several years ago with in my boat. We tied the boat off at the entrance and walked up the run. You didn't go to Naked Ed's?
Dang the memories! We used to come from Gainesville.... hit the parking spots just outside Ginnie property. Then float down to the bridge and hitch a ride back to the truck!
Great video. Love your honesty as we all say the wrong things some time. Steak looked a little well done. Wish we had similar river springs here. Looks awesome to jump into.
Thanks Ben! Yea, had to be honest.... Haha, it was blackened but still medium on the inside I think..... Man I love swimming in the springs, it's amazing!
Hi, Trip 👍🏻👍🏻😎 Awesome river adventure, those springs sure were crystal clear I’m glad you enjoyed and had a great time I enjoyed watching your adventure. Thanks for sharing, enjoy and have a Great week !!! Danny
The Santa Fe is awesome, but stay away on weekends; it's a madhouse! Production wise this was definitely your best video to date! And the new camera is huge quality improvement. 👍
Yes it is! The weekends are crazy huh? Sometimes I like crazy.... lol Wow, thanks for that, I think the camera and it being so easy to film made a big difference in how it turned out. Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video! Next time you go down that way be sure you see Ginnie Spring. There are seven springs on the Ginnie Springs property. You dove on Devil's Eye, but missed the one actually called Ginnie Spring.
Hey Trip, Awesome video(s) - grew up on the Santa Fe - still lots more to see - The River Rise, Suck Holes, and a few more springs up river - Would have been sweet to see you visit with Naked Ed at Lilly Springs (do not think he is around any more). Amazing how much this river changes - High dark water - low clear water and all points in between.
That's our neck of the woods. Nice video Trip, looks like a good time. My son and I have fished that same stretch of river ever since he could hold a pole.
Trip, man just wanted to say the smart tree monopod/tripod is amazing. After watching this video i figured out i needed a new one and man your recommendation is awesome
Love it! After my trip to the remote horseshoe beach area just north of suwannee river outlet in a couple weeks i plan to try similar route on my super 16 Gheenoe. You do some super fun trips man....keep it up!!!
Trip awesome trip loved it I wish we were closer to the springs I'm north Florida ,,love the trip dip thanks for taking us with you lol the fish thinking Ohio food and then they realize nope not food and swim away love the new Camara and stand better than go pro
That’s my favorite run man. You gotta come back after Labor Day weekend and SUP the ichetucknee! (Memorial day -Labor Day is tubing) Also, the house right by the shoals, they used to own Blue Springs until they sold it to the Park Service. Down river from the shoals on river left there was a permit only (free) campground that you booked through water management. Solid spot.
It's pretty sweet Tyler for sure. I'd LOVE to come back and do that..... I just might as a matter of fact. Is that campground still there? I need some more local knowledge of this place... Any camping along the Ichetucknee?
20:02. Walk up that lime rock beach on your right to the woods at the top. It’s called “the crack in the earth”. Super secret entrance straight to the aquifer.
My girl taught me how to fix the meat curl!!! If you cut the end that is curling she called it a fat cord idk but it works for bacon steak pork just about a 1’ slice will do take a sec to flatten but it will or try a bigger slice
Thanks for the camera / monopod suggestions. I was going to make a youtube and i didnt know what kind of camera to get. Had a gopro but sold it because it wasnt good lol... Also i wonder how the native americans who lived in forida along these clear beautiful springs and creeks and rivers went about their day to day. Did they swim / fish / live along the river? What about when the settlers came to florida in early 1800s -1900s. Imagine when the first settlers discovered these rivers / springs i wonder what they did lol.. i imagine them being astonished by the clear water. i imagine they went for a swim and fished / lived along the river..
You should try a UCO flatpack grill/firepit. They set up fast, pack down small and leave zero scars on the land. It's one of our favorite peices of kit for kayak camping.
@@TripSmith No judgment here. We just like really them for kayak camping, because they fold down to the sized of a macbook, and you can slide your feet under them on cold nights.
I have spent some time on the Santa Fe in my kayak and you did a great job capturing its beauty. Good thing you did not get cited for motoring up to Gilchrist Blue. I have seen the rangers get very strict about stopping motor boats even when the people were just paddling up with the motor turned off. Past that point, there are a lot of shoals on the Santa Fe and it is tough to get a kayak through parts of it when the water is low.
@@TripSmith The state needs to do a better job of making it clear. They are trying to restore the spring run; if you go now the vegetation is absolutely amazing and there is no other spring run like it. Yet, every day in the summer there are people walking in it and killing the vegetation or attempting to take their boats up it. I hate that I have to be the bad guy and fight with people because state puts up a tiny little sign.
That's crazy you went there trip, me an my brother just yaked about 12 miles of that memorial day wkend , I liked Poe springs and Rum springs better than Ginnie Springs.
Lots of banded water snakes that people confuse with mocs. Good idea to study/learn the differences. I teach middle school in that area and always show my students the different snakes they might encounter.
Love you Trip but please take some cooking tips. Let the fire burn down, don't cook on the open flame. And put the grill over the coals for a while before putting the meat on, to get those grills marks and will stick less.

Thats right! lol
I knew you would love the gheenoe, cool vid bro, really neat springs to.

I got the same Tripod for my go pro and its awesome. Thanks Smartree
