    I'm glad to see you back in a kayak! I was starting to think you were going to abandon what made the adventures fun in the first place!
    Anyone can buy a motor boat, but what fun is that? It takes away the exercise and excitement of getting there IMHO!!!

    • @TripSmith
      @TripSmith  5 років тому +1

      It was good to try one again, but.... I still enjoy SUp better. I think the SUP and kayak are extremely similar in making adventures enjoyable. I don't see how sitting down vs standing changes m,uch lol
      Kinda true... But not everyone does the big trips I do on a motorboat.

    I love both Kayaking and Paddle boarding, preferably kayaking but I suppose each have different environments to which their best suited! Really gutted to see you’ve lost that love for kayaking you use to have, after all, that is how I found your channel. Nevertheless, forever grateful for the opportunity to watch your adventures!

    • @glrs1301

      By the way, do you ship your ‘Out There’ T’s worldwide or just America?

      I haven't lost the love for getting out there and cruising down the river.... Just changethe vessel from sitting to standing lol Still extremely similar. Thanks for watching and yes sir I do ;) Should be info about international shipping on the site .

    We are leaving this Friday to camp at Bear Lake with our 6 and 10yr olds. We spend a lot of time in N. FL paddling and swimming but this is our first time going to the Blackwater River. We live closest to the Alapaha and though it can be very shallow and clear at times, it also moves very fast! How do you think they'd fair swimming in this river? And is there any other beautiful creeks, rivers to check out around that area?

    • @TripSmith
      @TripSmith  5 років тому

      Hey Allyson! Well.... Can I go ahead and tell you what I think? They both are pretty similar in the reasons why I switched from the Kahuna to a ISUP. Heavy, slow, bad tracking and just more difficult to use all around versus an ISUP. Try one! You will not be disappointed!

    Looked like a great trip on the Blackwater! Do you remember which days you went? I need to check the historical river height/discharge for that day; it's not too common for the water to be that low in Summer!

      @@TripSmith The measurements at Cotton Bridge during your trip were a discharge of 96 ft3/s with a 1.3ft height. The 60 year summer mean between Labor Day and Memorial Day is about 282 ft3/s discharge and a 3.1ft height. The 60 year summer median between Labor Day and Memorial Day is about 152 ft3/s discharge and a 2.89ft height. I'd say you got pretty lucky catching the river at a good time!

    wow, a paddle board? i just went on a paddle board for the first time a month ago and never again. my back ground is, long board surfing, body boarding, kayaking, canoes, row boats, jet skis, motor boats, etc if you lay down on a paddle board and use it like a surfboard, then you can get some speed up and control, other than that. it is just floating and you stand on it. well you can do that in a kayak and sit down and get speed/control. i did not try a two sided paddle so maybe that would of helped if i sat down and tried. if you want the challenge which a paddle board provides then hell yay get one. if not looking for a challenge and the easy/more control then do not get one

    • @TripSmith

      Well, I've done many trip on paddleboards and I find them much more suitable for me personally. I'm able to keep it much straighter than most kayaks. I was using a single bladed paddle.

      LKN CATFISH, I know this was 2 years ago, but it's worth mentioning to try different SUPs before committing to one. I rented some hardboards for a couple summers, had great times. Then I bought a Bodyglove inflatable from Costco, took it out and couldn't stand on it! Went to the paddle shop on that same pond and they had several to test right there, and immediately found a Badfisher inflatable that was super stable, comfortable, and joy of joys, was set up for fishing and touring! I can even strap a bucket to it and make it a sit-on-top. I've now done camping trips, fishing trips, river trips, and even taken my young niece out for paddles, and my SUP has been phenomenal! So try a few. Hull shapes, widths, lengths, thicknesses...they all affect your SUP experience. But it's hard to know which combination you prefer until you ride them. My wife still loves her Costco Bodyglove. Everybody's different.
