  • Thanks for watching again. I've had this requested many times and I thought it's about time. I went back to the drawing board to create a closer tone than my previous Metallica covers. This and Justice For All are the first songs I ever tried to learn, it's funny how it brought me back, playing it again 20 something years later. It's not the hardest song but James playing is so clinical that even the simple riffs are somewhat demanding.
    As always, recorded through garageband using Amplitube Custom Shop and Roland FA-66 interface. Edited in Premiere CS6. Anyone wanting presets or questions answered feel free to email me Lambchopper678@me.com

    I started playing way back in 1988, RLT, MOPs and this were the first albums I used to learn how to play (apart for Sex Pistols and the Clash et al). Nice Rhodes you got there, I had a 1992 Jackson RR Custom built to my specs, awesome axe (but expensive) a JCM 900 full stack, 1958 VOX, an orginal Orange all valve head, Boss ME5, Ovation 12 string plus lots more. Had to give up and sell them all due to physical induries. Still have a Dean VMNT "Rust in Peace" and a JEM7VW. This vid makes me want to try again, so keep going and keep posting. Thanks for the inspiration. Sub'd. ~ Guy

      I hope you're still doing what you love, brother.

      I had a Jackson Dinky Reverse head back in 94 or 95, was a love/hate relationship, had the locking nuts etc but would go out of tune, literally, every few minutes, even took it to several guitar shops to get them to look at it and they couldn't work it out. Looked way to cool not to play, compared to other guitar a Westfield, something, but everytime I tried same thing would happen. Random rant for the day.

    This album is full of some great riffs, by the way thanks for the presets, I actually didn't buy I only have the free version of amplitude they give you so I borked there.
    Funny though, when I tried to buy amplitude metal I put in the payment info and all and the transaction couldn't process. Didn't really give me a real reason either, probably will try again soon

    Hey do you prefer the Jackson RRXMG or the Alexi 600? I can't find an Alexi anywhere in a local store but there is a cheap one on ebay. I have played the RRXMG and loved it, incredibly fast neck, but I like the fact that the LTD has a slight cutaway. I understand the Jackson has more tone options 2 pickups but in terms of playability which do you like better? And which one sounds better?

    • @LambChopper678
      @LambChopper678  9 років тому +1

      Dylan Ross I think the Alexi's are one of the best metal guitars out there. They're built a lot better than the RRXMG's with 3 piece necks, quarter sawn, original floyds, ebony fingerboard and amazing sustain that sounds really rich. The fact that there's only one pickup doesn't matter at all. I thought it would bother me but quite the opposite. I like them so much I since bought the scythe model cheap on eBay and the older white one with the thick pin stripes that was damaged as a project.

      LOL I learned this riff on my first week ever playing guitar, Actually it was in a accustic guitar,
      I didn't have an electric guitar at that time. 1 week with fucking no practice just reading the tabs and trying to play my favorite riffs. I don`t know if it`s because my guitar hero experience (LOL) or I´m a natural or something, but
      I started playing 6 months ago and never really practiced, never never never. Only when I have to learn things like harmonics and tapping that are almost impossible to learn completely on my own, so I go to youtube to see how can I do that. Apart from that it's just tab reading (songsterr) and playing. And I can play several songs from metallica, slayer, death and even megadeth (like holy wars, hangar 18, addicted to chaos etc). I am not able to play fast solos and I know that I have a sloopy playing in hard songs. But at least I find it interesting how much I developed my skills comparing to all my friends, with my shitty habits and pure procrastination, playing a short time a week WITH FUCKING NO PRACTICE. I don`t know why i`m saying this LMAO I just wish I could talk about this with someone with more experience.
      ps: sorry for my english. Im a brazillian guy

      LambChopper678 in the main riff, you play the open e chord four times, the first two times you have to mute after each time you strum it, but the last two times, when they're faster after each other you shouldn't mute. I hope you understand what I'm talking about :s but besides that, it's sounds pretty perfect and i just wish i was as good as you are :)

  • @visuallink1
    @visuallink1 9 років тому

    You're doing too much palm muting with that riff while James is singing. The last strum isn't palm muted in the cd. And did you notice when they do this song live they don't even do that strum at all? The part. Where "my life suffocates" pull offstrum-strum-strumstrum.. Well it's like this on the CD but when they do it live its just "my life suffocates" pulloffstrum-strum-strum. Listen to the live versions from 89 and up. The singing riff is changed slightly to pulloffstrum-strum-strum. I bet you no one noticed that!!

      Anything that doesn't have single coils, something from Jackson or ESP. They're all good

    Well done mate! I've been trying to get all the changes on that one right for decades, and along comes LambChop, makin' it look easy again! I especially appreciated the way you fit all the hook riffs in there, even whilst switching guitar parts! ALL HAIL CHOPPER!!!
