This is also one of my favorite games ever, and definitely my favorite Rayman! The gameplay is so fun, the writing so witty, and the atmosphere so beautiful. It often gets overlooked by the other main games in the series, so I'm glad I'm not the only one who's covered it.

Rayman was so well known and popular that Rayman 3 made it into the news in Germany, at a time where video games where still considered for "nerds" and "kids".
How did we go from this to... well nothing? Ubisoft needs to realize that there's still demand for games like this, the recent Crash and Spyro remakes, aswell as the totally new Crash 4 game show this!

This was probably my favorite ps2 game ever. As a kid I must have beat it 5 times over a few years. I would always go back to it religiously and it was never a boring play through. Love this game I’m about to replay it again as an adult for the first time

26:42 I wouldn't blame the original release for this. It's just a problem with the widescreen display in the re-release. The scene looks normal in the original aspect ratio (4:3).

This is indeed a general small problem with HD remasters adding wide-screen. It causes certain stuff to be view that weren't intended to be show like static character models.

4:21 Alas, while Murphy never appeared in Rayman 4, or is it known nowadays: “Rayman Raving Rabbids”, he did appeared in the GBA version, so technically, he appeared in a version of Rayman 4, but only on handheld consoles.

One of my biggest problems with Rayman 3 is that in the cutscenes the characters all talk way to fast, and a lot of the plot points and things that are happening aren't very clear at all
Well, to be fair this is Rayman after all. The greatest doctors in the realm's solution to expunge the main villain is to play loud music and to get to them you're snowboarding through the 1980's

The Rayman franchise is my childhood, I enjoyed every game, even raving Rabbids. Still haven’t beat Rayman 3 to this day, I might give the PC version a go. Great review !

I'm also a big fan of The Rayman Series and this is my favorite Rayman Videogame.
I like it as much as Rayman 2 but Rayman 3 is my personal favorite and I'm not giving up on him he and Sonic both they deserve remastered versions of their games since Spyro and Crash Bandicoot have theirs and I prefer Sonic over Mario and Spyro over Crash and I like Rayman too his Videogame Series is the only Ubi Soft Videogame Series I love.
I like Teenage Rayman best he looks cuter.
As someone who grew up with the Rayman trilogy, I actually rank both the first and the third game over the second. The humourus / laid back story fit the universe and series better in my book.
I agree that Rayman 2 is a masterpiece. But it honestly just feels cringe (sorry, couldn’t come up with a more fitting word) when it comes to it’s story. It simply took itself too serious when Rayman’s world are moreso colourful and magical, may I even say “beautiful”?
That said, this game is easily one of my favourite games ever, and I loved watching your review of it! Thanks for a great watching! ❤

Yeah I can understand that, it’s a tough choice when the trilogy is overall so solid.
I loved Rayman 3 when I played it on PC when it released.
I loved Rayman 3 HD when I played the remaster on Xbox 360.
Honestly, I was really surprised when I learned that many didn't like this game and kinda failed to see why. It all seemed like minor issues blown way out of proportion when contrasted against all the amazing things this game did.
Yeah I don't think people liked it very much at the time of release because of the contrast with 2, but now I see nothing but praise for it

I want Rayman IV should be a 3D sequel to Legends, but it would have to be a completely new story in which marks the return of Mr. Dark in which he brings Razorbeard, Andre and Ales Mansay along to help Mr. Dark's master plan of his reign of terror in the Glade of Dreams and Rayman has to stop Mr. Dark's antics, and Rayman is not alone, because with Barbara and her Princess cousins and Ray's other friends from the Original Trilogy, Rayman will demonstrate Mr. Dark, Captain Razorbeard, Andre and Ales Mansay why he is the hero of the Glade of Dreams.
Anyway, We're going to give Ubisoft one more chance in at least making Rayman's 25th Anniversary memorable at the September Forward Event since it coincides with Ray's 25th Anniversary month. And if Ubisoft ignores Ray's 25th Anniversary, we're just going to have to accept the fact that Rayman is dead until Michel Ancel completes his Beyond Good & Evil 2 and WiLD projects and the fact that Ubisoft doesn't care about the Rayman franchise anymore and would rather milk Assassin's Creed, Watch Dogs, Far Cry, Ghost Recon, For Honor, Rainbow Six, etc.

One of the best games of all time. Rayman 2, Rayman M and Rayman 3 were all very different, but all equally special and amazing to me. And yeah, Rayman 3 got pretty weird in several places, not gonna lie... :) but I still love it, and when I was a kid, I didn't understand, or mind all of the weird moments anyway.
100%! Rayman 3, and to some extent the other 3D ones too but not as much, has a very special feel to it that's so unique that I've never really felt the same while playing any other game

From what I heard Rayman 3 didn't do bad in terms of sales. Rayman 4 was coming but ubi saw profit in Wii and decided to scrap R4 and turn it into Raving Rabbits. The only thing that left is Rayman RR for GBA which supposedly follows story of what was supposed to be in Rayman 4

Idk if you still answer to the comments in the comments section, but here's my reasoning WHY Rayman 3 is so underloved and why Rayman 2 is overly loved despite Rayman 3's OBJECTIVELY better gameplay. Look at franchises like Half Life. Half Life 1, has the OBJECTIVELY Better gamepay, Half life 2? It's boring and not NEARLY as varied as the first... but what makes it FAR more loved then the first half life, was it's RELATABLE dark storyline. Globally, people can RELATE to living in Crap conditions thanks to a crap goverment, when THEY play Half life 2 or Rayman 2, they don't give a crap about Gameplay... all they care for? Is story and atmosphere, which both games NAILED! Half life 1 and Rayman 3? It's all too goofy, like a saturday morning's Cartoon. and that's why it wasn't nearly as beloved or why Remakes become "Darker and Edgy" for people to relate to.
The writer of Rayman 2 didn't came back for Rayman 3, he instead worked on BEYOND GOOD AND EVIL, the gameplay was NOTHING special or unique, or even FUN for that matter... but it's BELOVED by it's atmosphere and story that will FOREVER be remembered. If Beyond Good and Evil forcuses on GAMEPLAY instead of Story, would it NEARLY be as beloved in our timeline? No, not really, it will be forgotten, like "Metal Arms: Glitch in System" a Game that has OBJECTIVELY better gameplay but is forgotten because... the story isn't that great.

I understand where you're coming from, but I don't think there's such a thing as objectivity in games criticism tbh. You're right in that the combat in Rayman 3 is more advanced, personaly I also like it more than 2's, but some people enjoy the simplicity of the combat in Great Escape/Revolution and they're definitely not wrong for thinking that.

@@FromHerotoZeroYT I just REALLY love the lore, I have WAAY more fun with Rayman 3 but Rayman 2's lore... idk why, I keep getting back that more then Rayman 3, its... a strange feeling. Its this same feeling Players got with Beyond Good and Evil, even though they are objectiviely other games with better gameplay... the lore of these games make players return to them, more so the gameplay, it's an unexplained oddity.

ya know what’s funny about Rayman 2, it’s kind of an oddball in the series since it’s the only mainline installment with a sort if melancholic tone. Almost every other Rayman game is really wacky and silly.

I really hope so, but I'd be lying if I said I was even a little optimistic about it. Still though, I'm always crossing everything I have whenever we start to get close to E3 season. I guess we won't get a definitive answer until after the Beyond Good and Evil game is done which at this point seems to be closer to never than ever

Those water texture bugs are weird. I don't think they were present in the XBLA release.
The HD ports, well the PS3 one at least I never played the XBLA one, aren't the best example of good ports tbh. What makes me forgive a lot of it is how good everything looks in HD!

found your rayman vids today, really enjoyed them :) gonna be checking some of the others out too.
and man, Rayman 3 is also among my favorite games of all time. big factor is nostalgia of course, we had rayman 2, M and 3 on the family PC back in the day, but even playing it nowadays I just love it. the atmosphere, the music, the visuals, the gameplay... I mean yeah i always get stuck on the vehicle section before the tower of leptus, but everything before that is still worth revisiting on the xbox 360 version i got recently after not playing it for well over a decade. Rayman 2 I can now still play on my 3ds, which i know isnt the best port, but oh well, dont have a computer and my only consoles are an xbox 360 and a Switch, so yeah.
Rayman M was a weird one, my pc version would occasionally crash and I didnt really understand what I was doing most of the time so I never got far, but I remember loving the opening cutscene, the music and for some reason I was just beyond hyped I could play as the Teensies and the Henchman 800/Generic Robot Pirate (which I really wish had a super articulated action figure) so I still have some fond memories.
I honestly don't think there's any game announcement with the potential to make me more excited than a Rayman 4, a proper 3D platformer sequel. We'll keep dreaming. thanks for these fun videos, I quite enjoyed the personal touches like telling us about you pretending to be rayman in the backyard as a kid. good stuff 👌👌👍👍

I've been playing rayman 2 recently but can't gert my head around of the over world aspect of the game and where to go, it's like they tried to do 3D but the level design is soo confusing

6:15 hm, I never had some of these problems on Xbox, altough the texture for the elite hoodlums sometimes also doesn't load, I never had musical stutters and the easteregg where you find razotbeard and his crew it looks perfectly fine.
The PS3 being notoriously hard to program for might be a part of why there are so many bugs in this version

Alot of people dont like the onrail start gameplay. I find it to be completely fine and let's you focus on getting lums and setting up the controls kinds for the later onrail sections in the music dimension and snowboarding levels

My second hand copy of Rayman 3 actually had the demo with it. The previous owner must have got it with RR. My copy of RR is platinum but didn't have the R3 demo. Ahen I did play R3 I did think that when you landed the loss of momentum was a bit off-putting. I think RR handles a bit different to Rayman 2 as well doesn't it?

Honestly Rayman 3 is probably the most underrated game in the entire franchise don’t get me wrong I will admit it does have its flaws but I would honestly say Rayman 3 is just as good as Rayman 1 and 2
3 is by far my favorite game in the entire franchise. I recognize how 2 is a great game but I never really understood why people hold it in as high a regard as they do compared to the rest
For me I would probably say the character designs I like how the returning characters from Rayman 2 got a more polished look and I absolutely love the designs for the hoodlum enemies

the first level is great! okay maybe having to do 2 minutes of something not related to the rest of the game in any capacity sounds kinda lame but its made up by a glitch where you can collect lums in that level if you're already at max life, and ONLY in that level.
you do lose any excess life if you pick up a 6th fairy cage, nothing good lasts forever

Character portrayal is why Rayman 3 isnt my favorite ( the 2nd game is) but its still a good game for other reasons.

i played the xbox version growing up, and the combo bar dodnt retreat under the score either. i cant vouch for how it works in the other versions because i havent played them but having it retreat under makes it really hard to read what your extra score actually is. so while any sort of combo timer wouldve been nice the static combo meter was probably the right call imo

@@FromHerotoZeroYT Absolutely not. Censorship is bad no matter how many lines are removed, and it shouldn't be supported. Tolerating it based on how much is removed just allows companies to do it more.
@@Seragin Both instances of the Ludiv in the Fairy Council saying "oh my god". Also André saying "bug off fairy", but for some reason this video shows that line intact, so maybe there are differences between versions or it was updated. That's all I know of.

GTA 3 changed everything when it comes to games and when did Rayman 3 came out? Post GTA 3, EVERYONE was out on the hunt for that GTA 3 craze. Everyone. If you flexed GTA 3 to your friends at school, you were the man of the playground. That sounds kinda sus but what i mean is what we all know, we all want to be seen as "mature" or whatever as kids, that resulting in the downfall of every lovable cartoon hero in the 2000's and early 2010's. The rise of the edge, which resulted in some banger games so I'm not mad about it, now the artistic styles are making a return and both edge and cartoony can co-exist. It was around that time when as nerds wanted our hobby to be viewed as art, so we devs made everything grey and piss filtered. Again some of my fav and top picks for best games are from that era for me. Infamous, GTA IV, Metal Gear Solid 3, but games that changed their artistic vision to be more like GTA 3 (Jak And Daxter 2) well it became irrelevant, like Crash, Sly and Rayman
You have a good point about Jak 2, in fact the devs even stated that they changed course from Jak & Daxter because of GTA 3, but Rayman has had this sort of art style since Rayman 2. It's more of a gradual step in the direction of 3 if you look at the games. M is where it becomes very obvious. I highly doubt either Rayman 3 nor the Crash and Sly games were influenced much by GTA. At the very least not in the same way as Jak 2 were.

Only reason there was any "revert" is because WE grew up and miss those types of games, so now we have both and we ditched the mindset of "cartoony equals childish". New generation kids are still gonna have that mindset but anyway, Fortnite being the exception and perhaps...Rabbits games? I have no idea, 0 clue who plays these and why. Literally never in my life have i heard anything about these games besides the fact they ruined Rayman. Everytime they're in the discussion it's either that or smth else bad

Anything after Rayman 3 garbage Rayman Origins was average.
Would call it an anticlimax. Everything about it felt cheap. The jokes were cheap, the level design was cheap, the sound effects were cheap (some of the music was awesome, though). The gameplay was repetitive.

I don't feel like any of your criticisms applies to Rayman 3, even the one about the score system. Your thoughts makes me curious about what you think about the rest of the 3D Rayman games though, seeing as you call this one an anticlimax
@@FromHerotoZeroYT Rayman 2 is my favourite Rayman game. I mean, of course the stuff I say is subjective, but there's no denying Rayman 3 has a completely different tone compared to the second game. It's not that strange that people would consider one to be great, and the other to be kinda bad.

I think a lot of people like Rayman 2 the best, and they're not wrong to do that. Personaly I feel like some of what you said about Rayman 3 better describe Rayman 2, which is kinda what piqued my interest haha.
Also when it comes to Rayman I think The Great Escape is the game that differs in tone compared to the rest
@@FromHerotoZeroYT To be fair, yes, Origins and Legends seem to be tonally kinda similar to 3 (but not entirely). I'm pretty sure Rayman 1 and 2 are pretty similar tonally, though. Lots of wonder and mystery, but with a whimsical undertone.
Just please shut up. This is a video about how good Rayman 3 is and you don't have to come in and comment how bad it is. I know I sound might sound nostalgia blind, and to be fair I am. But you probably had Rayman 2 so YOU probably have an unfair bias too. Rayman 3 is still really good so you can just take your sour attitude out on something else, because you are just making other people mad by being so pessimistic.
