In a dance mini-game, one of the songs contains swear words. This project was going so badly that they must have been freewheeling, I mean look at the ending..

The Rayman 4 prototype gameplay reminds me of Wario World, which had a similar brawler-like combat. Maybe with more development time, by expanding the open-world, puzzles, player control and enemy AI I think it could end up being something unique. Some time ago I would prefer a more refined combat from Rayman 3, but thinking about it, it probably wouldn't be that different and would not stand out as much as rayman 1 and 2. So that prototype looked pretty promising to me.
Idunno, like I said in the video there's not really enough of a complete game in there to judge it fairly and what's actually in there is more like a very first rough draft anyways, but Rayman with a gun? Like can you imagine something more redundant? And then having the combat be close quarters based, I just can't. I admit I like the idea of riding on a giant spider with how it changes traversal and stuff but that's about it
This game is so funny because it is a rushed piece of crap that uses the dead body of Rayman 4 as a costume and barely anyone noticed, like there are so many assets that are straight up copied from the cancelled Rayman 4 prototype, its more interesting to think about what the game could have been rather than what it ended up being, Great review as always
I wish it was funny, but it's really just an annoying stain on the Rayman franchise lol. If that prototype for Rayman 4 was what they had to work with though I kinda understand why they scrapped it and re-used the assets for something else. It's just a shame that it had to be this... Being the owner of quite a few wii games, I can safely say that this is definitely NOT the worst minigame collection. That being said, it is kind of hard to have an objective opinion of this game. People who grew up with the original Rayman platformers are disappointed and annoyed at the Rabbids, while those who played this game first will have a more favorable opinion. Although this is one of my favorite games of all time, I will agree that it is incredibly unpolished from its plot, some minigames, and impossible factors. Despite this, most of the minigames are still fairly original, and it stands pretty well when compared to other minigame collections. I didn't really care for the story mode that much but I grinded the score mode a bunch, and for just a group of minigames the single-player value is decent. The point system is very harsh for some minigames and way too lenient for others. Just some interesting points about the game: -The game is easier on PC, quicker reaction times and movements for the shooting games and others where you have to point at the screen. -The 2011 version in the 3 game disk has slightly easier scores to get and gimmicks, and every version of this game has different requirements for 1000 points in score mode. -For the wii, the workout games require a specific angle of the wii remote along with fast movement to get the highest scores. -There are many minigames that nobody has gotten 1000 points for, i.e. bunnies cant slide (probably the worst minigame because of its insane point requirement) and the anatomy minigame. -In Bunnies Don't Like Surprises, you can get the 75,000 points through only going for the cacti or rakes. The 51000 point requirement for just passing the level is pretty easy to get from just wandering around. -Bunnies Have a Great Ear for Music is the only minigame where the starting cutscene can't be skipped. -The original release of this game is blurry, however every following port has updated graphics. The ps2 version of the game is seen as having the best graphics. -The website you could submit scores to shut down in 2010-2011 but can still be accessed through archives. A real Rayman 4 would still be pretty interesting to see, and for being a 2006 wii game made quickly I think the graphics are fairly smooth. Unfortunately, this game did kind of remove Rayman from his own games, however I'm still a fan of the older Rabbids games. Not a fan of the new ones though, they seem kind of cheap. Especially the minigame collection from 2021. And to those who don't care for the minigame collections, they should at least try out Rabbids Go Home, which is one of my absolute favorite games ever and is quite unique from a gameplay perspective. Good review though, its fairly unbiased which is unlike a lot of the others I have watched.

Funny thing, many aspects of that prototype can be found in the final game, such as Rabbid combat with Rayman and his abilities such as punching, jumping and flying/gliding which can be hacked back into the game. Many of the games minigame maps are also based off levels that would have appeared and thus are REALLY huge, but since they got turned into minigames were not finished. As such there are unused mechanics. An example of this is Rayman can punch the Rabbids then steal their weapons and use it against them. Rayman can also swim.
It's interesting, that's for sure. Makes me wonder just how far they got before they decided to turn it all around and also why it had to be mini-games
truly love this video. when i was younger i was OBSESSED with the rabbids. didn't even know they had games, just really liked the tv show. i tuned in regularly 'till about the end of s2 then went on with life. a little while after, i saw my cousins playing the dentist minigame and the second i saw those creepy ass worms pop out of the teeth, baby me was about ready to crap her pants. something about that stuck with me. this summer i picked up a wii copy from a flea market, it was only like 2 bucks so i snatched it up and gave it a try. i had merely the vaguest perception of rayman and thought this game SLAPPED(can you tell i have low standards?). i liked the colosseum setting and found the concept to be almost dreamlike with how weird it was. the minigames mostly hit for me, though the more alternate-between-shaking-the-wiimote-and-nunchuck games kind of fell flat because i had a faulty port where the nunchuck would slip out and stop registering. i thought it was so good that i actually bought tv party as well at the same flea market!(didn't know there was a direct sequel at the time 💀) i was a bonafide rabbids enjoyer for a couple months before it eventually fell out of my zeitgeist. bizarrely, what roped me into the rayman fandom was that one video of him and globox singing sexbomb 😭 that combined with my previous love of the rabbids and the renewed interest in his ip because of the m+r dlc and his appearance in laserhawk(banger show btw!!!) dragged me right in. now i own every game(except origins rip)! looking back at this as a rabbids fan turned rayman fan, this game is weird as hell. on one hand, this approach, if it stayed closer to the source ip/polished up its gameplay and presentation, could have been a very promising spinoff series. it's such missed potential. then you have the other hand; man, this timeline sucks. if the rabbids didn't take over, rayman could be up with the giants of gaming. they should have STAYED enemies. rather than their strange, alien, admittedly mildly compelling yet gratingly annoying shenanigans, they could have been fleshed out, and maybe even balance a gritty yet comedic style like rayman 3, all in exchange for a fraction of the limelight. but the tyrannical mfers stole it all anyway. this is why things are the way they are. this video sums up my thoughts accordingly; a silly little game somewhat worth putting the time into beating, and it shouldn't have been anything else.

I'm reminded of the arcade game Point Blank; I used to play it as a kid at this pizza place down the street from my house. Then they released a version on the DS and I was so excited. It was just how I remembered it, but this time with a stylus. Anybody else remember Point Blank?

I’m gonna say it, the first three Raving Rabbids mini game collections were AMAZING. If you were the right age to appreciate them. In 2006 at 8 years old sure you knew the characters were annoying then, but the games were fun with friends and the Wii was the ultimate social console. Show someone how to do the game and everyone could give it a go. Now after the first three games they were overused and not worth it, but I had a great time with Raving Rabbids, 2 and TV Party The only thing I’ll never forgive them for is killing the Rayman series. I was a huge fan of Rayman 3 and wish we’d had a proper Rayman 4

Like no, none of the original Rabbids trilogy are going up there on a greatest games of all time list, but if you grew up with a Wii they had just as much value for having friends round as Mario Kart or Guitar Hero did. And like those games, everyone just seemed to own it!
speaking of the prototype, if you use the Rayman Control Panel and have a copy of Raving Rabbids on Steam/PC for who knows what reason, you can enable Prototype Mode using the Control Panel's Restoration Mod allowing you to play with it, it's odd and doesn't work on all minigames, but is interesting, not worth buying the PC version for it tho
You clearly haven't been doing enough (if any) research on the prototype if that last clip was the only source you could find. So much has been found and I don't know how you missed them.

@@FromHerotoZeroYT That prototype wasn't finished or polished. The devs weren't able to meet the strict deadline so they had to go back to square one. I forgot to tell you that when the game was being developed, there was a very early trailer that gave us a glimpse into what the game was originally going to be like with Rayman beating us hundreds of zombie-like Rabbids (the Rabbids were also really ugly back then). The best we're gonna get to a playable version of that game is an upcoming fangame called Rayman Raving Rabbids: Reburrowed which is based on the prototype and tries to recreate what it could've been. It uses assets from the prototype along with new ones. It also uses the original ost along its own music that matched the feel of the original (btw, the soundtrack for the prototype is amazing. The main menu theme is so catchy and it's a shame that it was cut from the final release. We do hear it briefly in one of the shooting minigames in RRR 2 strangely. Even more weird, another cut track was used in Rabbids Go Home, even though Rayman was no longer associated with the Rabbids at that point).
Yeah, despite the video title, I do think this would have gone over better if Ubisoft hadn't included Rayman in the game. I also think it wouldn't have sold at all, but hey
Man, you have no idea how much of a disappointment this game turned out to be for me and my friends back when it came out. We were the biggest fans of Rayman 3 and were really hyped for the fourth game. To this day, I think Rabbids are some of the worst video game characters ever created. They just feel really cynical and charmless to me, even in Mario + Rabbids.
Yeah they really are unlikeable, aren't they? I think they did a good job of diversifying them in Kingdom Battle, but it still wasn't good enough. I don't know if that opinion is colored by my immense disappointment with this game though lol

In my opinion the best games with rabbids is the gba game and the ones with Mario. Speaking of which, I'm curious to know what your opinion is on Mario Rabbids Kingdom and Sparks of hope and that Rayman being the 3rd dlc working with Rabbid Mario and Rabbid Peach. Considering past games I find this interesting. It makes me wonder how the story will go. But Rabbids Mario and Peach along with Rabbid Luigi and Spawny are much more mature and nicer and I love the idea of them bonding and having a friendship with Rayman.😊
I decided to try out Kingdom Battle after I found out that Rayman was confirmed as DLC for Sparks of Hope but then Tears of the Kingdom happened and I haven't gotten back to it lol. From what I played I think KB is fine. I'm probably going to go back to it sooner rather than later. I really hope the inclusion of Rayman in Sparks of Hope will boost sales enough for Ubisoft to realize that there's still a market for Rayman out there, but I think that's just wishful thinking at best. It's hard to look on the bright side as a Rayman fan these days because the light was already starting to flicker years ago and by now it's almost gone.

Does the Raving Rabbids party collection for the Wii fix the impossible score glitch? I want to unlock everything.

Like no, none of the original Rabbids trilogy are going up there on a greatest games of all time list, but if you grew up with a Wii they had just as much value for having friends round as Mario Kart or Guitar Hero did. And like those games, everyone just seemed to own it!
speaking of the prototype, if you use the Rayman Control Panel and have a copy of Raving Rabbids on Steam/PC for who knows what reason, you can enable Prototype Mode using the Control Panel's Restoration Mod allowing you to play with it, it's odd and doesn't work on all minigames, but is interesting, not worth buying the PC version for it tho
I actually bought the PC version out of morbid curiosity lol so I might try it out
Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 and TV Party were much more fun and honestly funnier imo, especially since they had a bigger emphasis on multiplayer.
I remember RR2 being at least less janky. Never played TV Party though so it'll be fun to try it out eventually!

You clearly haven't been doing enough (if any) research on the prototype if that last clip was the only source you could find. So much has been found and I don't know how you missed them.

@@FromHerotoZeroYT It wasn't just concept art, there were screenshots, animations discovered in the files and in December of 2022, assets were leaked and more and more things have been discovered ever since.

@@FromHerotoZeroYT That prototype wasn't finished or polished. The devs weren't able to meet the strict deadline so they had to go back to square one. I forgot to tell you that when the game was being developed, there was a very early trailer that gave us a glimpse into what the game was originally going to be like with Rayman beating us hundreds of zombie-like Rabbids (the Rabbids were also really ugly back then). The best we're gonna get to a playable version of that game is an upcoming fangame called Rayman Raving Rabbids: Reburrowed which is based on the prototype and tries to recreate what it could've been. It uses assets from the prototype along with new ones. It also uses the original ost along its own music that matched the feel of the original (btw, the soundtrack for the prototype is amazing. The main menu theme is so catchy and it's a shame that it was cut from the final release. We do hear it briefly in one of the shooting minigames in RRR 2 strangely. Even more weird, another cut track was used in Rabbids Go Home, even though Rayman was no longer associated with the Rabbids at that point).

Yeah, despite the video title, I do think this would have gone over better if Ubisoft hadn't included Rayman in the game. I also think it wouldn't have sold at all, but hey

Man, you have no idea how much of a disappointment this game turned out to be for me and my friends back when it came out. We were the biggest fans of Rayman 3 and were really hyped for the fourth game.
To this day, I think Rabbids are some of the worst video game characters ever created. They just feel really cynical and charmless to me, even in Mario + Rabbids.
Yeah they really are unlikeable, aren't they? I think they did a good job of diversifying them in Kingdom Battle, but it still wasn't good enough. I don't know if that opinion is colored by my immense disappointment with this game though lol
I'm honestly disappointed in the rabbid games. I especially hate TV Party. 😡) The 2nd game wasn't as bad but still mediocre. In my opinion the best games with rabbids is the gba game and the ones with Mario.
Speaking of which, I'm curious to know what your opinion is on Mario Rabbids Kingdom and Sparks of hope and that Rayman being the 3rd dlc working with Rabbid Mario and Rabbid Peach. Considering past games I find this interesting. It makes me wonder how the story will go. But Rabbids Mario and Peach along with Rabbid Luigi and Spawny are much more mature and nicer and I love the idea of them bonding and having a friendship with Rayman.😊
I decided to try out Kingdom Battle after I found out that Rayman was confirmed as DLC for Sparks of Hope but then Tears of the Kingdom happened and I haven't gotten back to it lol. From what I played I think KB is fine. I'm probably going to go back to it sooner rather than later. I really hope the inclusion of Rayman in Sparks of Hope will boost sales enough for Ubisoft to realize that there's still a market for Rayman out there, but I think that's just wishful thinking at best. It's hard to look on the bright side as a Rayman fan these days because the light was already starting to flicker years ago and by now it's almost gone.
@@FromHerotoZeroYT I think it'll at least boost sales. Otherwise, I'm not sure about Rayman's future after that. But I'll take what I can get. I still want to check out sparks of hope, the original and all the dlcs, especially the one with Rayman.
In a nutshell... Raving Rabbids is a good game, just not a good Rayman game
Eeeh, I wouldn't outright call it a good game, but it was definitely made worse to a lot of people because they shoehorned in Rayman and all the expectations that comes with him in a game
