Donny actually sung the song " For all we know " on this Flip Wilson episode, along with Put your hand in the hand. You would think after 10 years of this clip being on UA-cam the other sung would have surfaced by now. Also Donny did sing on other Tv shows during the early 1970s, maybe one day it will surface on the Internet or maybe Rhino or some other company will pull all his performance footage together for his fans & the new generation to see him.
Donny and stevie are both my favorite. And they are both greats of soul music. You can't say one with out the other!!! Expertise when it comes to the piano.

Minnie Ripperton passed, I believe, in either 83 or 84 from breast cancer. Both her and Donny Hathaway's voices were splendid to this day. It's a shame we don't have them anymore.

I personally don't agree on that one haha when you say a good vocalist, there are several things to consider. Donny's vocal probably touches more people than stevie's does but it depends on people who listen. For me stevie's vocal touches more and obviously stevie's vocal range is greater than donny's.

If you really pay attention you will notice that stevie started sing this way after danny came out,
Stevie was singing like this since he was a kid. You can hear it clearly in his early work. Please listen to "Blowing in the wind" 1966 for reference.
So basically your comment is not accurate. Donny came out after Stevie so who really influenced who? All of Stevie's early work after his adolescent years you can hear the stronger drawl he was accenting his notes with. This was before Donny came on the scene from the church.

LOOKS like one Philip Upchurch on guitar; Freddie White on drums (Maurice and Deen's little brother from EWF); and perhaps, Mr. Willie Weeks on bass guitar; not sure who the percussionist is? Hopefully, someone will someday confirm all the musicians who assisted Donnie on this Flip Wilson TV session?
This performance aired on October 26th, 1972. Percussionist could be Earl DeRouen if this is the same crack band that played on Side 1 of the 'Donny Hathaway Live' album from The Troubadour in West Hollywood, August 1971 :) White was only 16 when he joined the band that year! Side 2 from October at The Bitter End in NYC featured Cornell Dupree on lead guitar. Mike Howard played rhythm guitar in both lineups. Apparently they also performed For All We Know on the TV show.
