Kosh may have been a very different alien but, you could tell he had a sense of humor and could turn a phrase like no one else. My favorite was when the telepath Winters has scanned Abbott, and Talia asked, what does this mean? Kosh asked, "You seek meaning?" She answered, "Yes." Kosh replied, "Then listen to the music and not the song."
He, Kosh, was meaning BOTH the Narn and Centauri; as both cultures were locked into a series of actions and reactions that would ultimately spell mutual destruction.
Kosh was my favorite character on B5. He was wise, mysterious and occasionally funny. Throughout the series I wondered what Vorlons really looked like. It wasn't until Ulkresh left his encounter suit that I finally found out. They truly are bizarre looking beings!
How many of you still get teary eyed when The Shadows kill Kosh? I sure do. :-( Just finished watching that episode (days off binge watch) and it feels like losing an old friend! ;-( ♡Kosh
It's a point of pride AND sorrow for me...They took him, but he made them EARN and remember the victory. One Kosh, how many Shadows did they bring and how many fell before they took victory? There was only ONE Kosh that day! So yes, sad but I was also proud of the character.
I miss the days when shows had plot, depth of character, and an immersive environment.... Yeah the effects are crap by today's standards, but they didn't matter to me...
It was also the first of it's kind. Give credit where it's due, before this show, overarching plots were not a norm in television. JMS wrote the entire storyarc in advance and shopped it to networks as a complete 5 year arc. He'd intended to sell the story to the makers of Star Trek to use as part of the Star Trek lore. Star Trek passed on it and then stole his idea for DS9. So JMS decided to make the show himself on a competing network. This show was and remains one of a kind.
@@fighterck6241 stole is going way too far, the only real similarities between babylon 5 and ds9 are settings. If you actually watch both they are very different (and both great!)
Kosh: "I have always been here." Sheridan: "Oh yeah? You said the same thing about me too." Kosh: "Yes." Sheridan: "I really hate it when you do that." Kosh: "Good." Who knew Kosh could be funny? :P
Kosh was such a deep character even tho he didnt have tons of screen time. All the mistakes the vorlons had made clearly weighed on him. I actually wish they had made a movie based in the age of ancient, so we could see their expanded lore history. Maybe the first shadow war, when the race of lorien's people were still alive.
@@OmegaOrdained or show the original vorlon homeworld that surface was turned to glass during the third space war. That would have been a good move too, showing where the question of who are you came from.
@@OmegaOrdained they do and the extended lore is never covered by anyone. Like the reason the jumpgates were created. The fact the vorlons were locked out of time travel. Maybe you could cover em lol.
Kosh wasn't actually poisoned when he first came aboard B-5. I have the distinct impression that the Vorlon were the ones who set up the whole thing as a test. For one thing, Kosh purposely arrived ahead of schedule so the command staff and more importantly security, didn't have time to prepare for his arrival; secondly, Vorlons don't have hands exactly; thirdly, Kosh is completely encased in the encounter suit, so how would the poisoned skin tab make contact with his body?
@@OmegaOrdained actually, they do mention it again later, but it was after Sherridan took over, and it was only in passing. Besides, it's not vital to the overall story so it would get kind of glossed over.
Sinclair did not authorize Lyta to scan Kosh. He had no knowledge until she accused him. The doctor on first officer took it upon themselves to ask Lyta.
@@OmegaOrdained Sorry mate, I feel like a pratt now pointing it out. I don't think his name is ever mentioned in the show, he's just Kosh 2. No, that's a great suggestion. I like that reboot they did a really good job on it. I will give that some thought, it would make a good mini series for sure!
Video was pretty thorough. Only thing is some pronunciations. Streib is said as Stribe, it's Ulkesh with no R in it, and it is' G'kar with a soft G, not Sha'kar.
Generally I absolutely hate reboots. They always get everything wrong. I would much prefer a show about Babylon 6, or a prequel about Babylon 1-4. However JMS is brilliant and whatever he has planned I know will be amazing. So I am looking forward to seeing it. In fact I will willing buy whatever service it will be on just for Babylon 5. 😎👍
@@OmegaOrdained i believe sinclairs story in the first season covering war with minbari would make sense. Ending by battle of the line and the despair... he does kamikaze... all goes black. The Vorlon's were a mess. Sometimes energy beings and sometimes not. Advanced yet so cryptic they may as well not even speak. Thousands of years old yet unable to see around their own noses. Vorlon ships seem only a hundred years beyond ours yet they are much older. JMS could have done better.
Fav Vorlon Quote: "The Avalanche has started; it is too late for the pebbles to vote."
I have repeated this quote more times than I can recount.

I love how Kosh and the Vorlons were anonymous and mysterious. Even their true form is molded by the race’s experience of the Vorlons.

My all time favorite B5 character.
I still favour Lorien but it's close.
Thanks for reminding me of all of KOCH'S little witty comments. I'd forgotten so much about him. Appreciate such a complete history. Thanks again

That makes a lot of sense. It would also explain why they didn’t try to kill Alkesh by poisoning him in a similar manner.
Could the encounter suit be living bio technology ? Explains why it got sick with a poison and putting Kosh in peril .
