Looking good as always! One suggestion. If you take a piece of plywood and run a grid of drywall screws through it you can dunk or paint the epoxy on the blocks and then sit them on the sharp screw tips. This will keep you from needing to tape one side. If you rotate the blocks for each coat you will get absolutely perfect coverage. Keep it up and have fun!
Watching the Two of you every Friday Just makes my Day I've been away this weekend and I just couldn't wait to get home and see this weeks episode. I love your comment that you pick the hardest route to do something I thought I was the only one to do that ! the only difference is You Both still have the drive of the young ! You both inspire my old bones to keep moving !! God bless you both !
The knee pads would spare the knees for close work, so they are very useful. When i was a kid, mother used to get us jeans with double patched knees because we wore through them so fast. It is always nice to have fancy pants for the job and Aladino shows that he knows how to pack them up. I like the meticulous fitting and epoxying and sanding. It will be one memorable magic carpet when you get under weigh.
This is my favorite part of Friday! Nothing about the boat, or the two of you is ever "underwhelming" I enjoy seeing all the progress, the new pants, listening to the amazing violin music, all of it. I hope that you will continue to visit with us when you get back home and work on the other boat, my fridays would feel very empty without an update to watch. I wish you both safe travels and look forward to many more episodes. Thank you for sharing with us.
Fantastic boat! I really look forward to following along as the restoration progresses, and maybe sharing an anchorage someday once you launch! Cheers from Cowichan Bay.
First of all, I loved the music in this episode. As always your craftsmanship and positive attitude are truly impressive. I hope you can get back from Europe and finish the project before the cold of winter.
You created an episode so full of joy it actually brought a tear to my eye. Especially seeing the blocking [which I've been looking forward to ALL week] with its gorgeous contrast! Wow!
This is going to look amazing when its finished great milestone keep it going the pay off is sailing her finished and sharing with us land locked people
Next Friday is the 24th, so JUST IN CASE, I miss your vlog I'm gonna wish you two a Merry Christmas now. May your days be merry and bright etc., etc., etc. All the best :-)
Another marvelous episode. Beautifully done. Loved the violin music. I know we're all looking forward to the day when MC II is in the water, but this is a journey, and there is something very Zen in your wonderful patience and craftsmanship. I'm learning from you. The difficult path is the path less traveled, and like the poet said, that will make all the difference. Well done. Thank you guys!
I have done these projects many times, at 69 years young I can tell you that sub sixty foot mono hulls will fade in favor of larger projects. After a terribly few years you will yearn for longer, wider boats with bigger sails and more interior room. I being a musician also could not live without a few guitars, a fiddle, mandolin, a few types of banjos plus harmonicas some drums and a few recorders. All this takes room, plus a keyboard, trumpet and bugle. Now I only go for daggerboard catamarans not only because they are considerably faster but I can devote a an entire cabin space to fifteen or twenty instruments. Love your vlogs and the attention to detail with accuracy you use. I remember the words of my blessed Mother when she said you can do anything you set your mind to do. You two talented people can do anything you envision, keep going and grabbing the future with both hands and never let it go. Blessings of luck, fair winds and following seas to all of your projects.
Hi, I'm sorry you won't be working on your lovely vessel for a while. But, it was great hearing that piece. "Crested Chicken" in English. I love that piece, I play it on my mandolin daily. Danny. Thank you
Just stopping by to see how Magic Carpet II is coming along, and as expected you both have it going on like it’s a Japanese wood puzzle, and true to form even a small varnishing job gets the beautifully dictioned cadence of a Maya’s telling. Aldino is the wizard of course with his quite concentration and an ever eye over the entire vastness of this refit. Excellent work guys, as usual. Maya, excuse me, I didn’t realise before but you have the face of a Bottechelle Venus and look so uniquely wonderful in those very original pocketed work pants. Merry February Comrades.
Good job guys, as a woodworking aficionado I enjoy Aladino’s craftsmanship. it is appreciated there are people who take pride in the work. Would like to see more of that and good luck with your trip.
Congrats to you both for such an incredible project! Bon courage! And thanks for getting some music into the episode. I am a huge fan of your talent Maya!
Another wonderful episode of harmony! The refit is moving along nicely and I totally understand the feeling of when will this ever end.... yes the change of location will be a good attitude reset for both of you. Maya... I think you have a new nickname... Ms Fancy Pants! And as we all know… It’s all about the outfit! Love it! 👍🏻😊
Another great episode. Very nice how you wove in the violin playing - some as background and some showing you playing. Both of you have such great attention to detail to get the best possible results. I certainly wouldn't have had the patience to do all of the taping that you did to deal with any drips.
Greetings from Arizona, USA Great episode. Thank you for the music, I always enjoy when you play for us. Best wishes and positive vibes. P.S. Love the new pants.
Nice pants! Congratulations! Aladino, great job of modeling the proper usage of the pockets! Work smarter, not harder! I enjoy your videos, Great job and the boat and wood working are looking good.
Great episode as usual. I could feel the joy of a work well done not just in your voice but also in your eyes! Bravo for a well done job( blocking and the episode). Splice the main brace!
For all the hard work yuze two have put into the blocking, I think an obvious spot should have some scroll work with your initials and date. For posterity.😉😉
Looks really great... If your back in the Netherlands I volunteer my my time,I'm a theater technicians without theatre's to work in because of covid. So got plenty of time to fill.
That fiddling is sweet. Your sound seems an ideal match for seafaring. Aladino, the human multi-tool and Maya, the one woman orchestra - is there anything you guys don't do well ? Thank you
Hi she is looking great and you will be very pleased with what you have achieved over the 6 months of very hard work. I wondered, is Aladino a Virgo, like me. Virgo's stive for perfection but sometimes have to settle for the best we can do. Just a thought. Cheers Ian New Zealand
G'day Crew,,, Wow look at you two in your MATCHING PANTS . Alidino goes a step further and fills his pockets .... The boat looks magnificent guys .. Thanks so much to both of you for entertaining the faithfull all year,, the episodes are fabulous ,and just keep getting better. So ,, BEST WISHES for a HAPPY SAFE CHRISTMAS and we will see you back here in 2022. Respect from Down Under
Mia, I am assuming you have seen the movie Heaven's Gate if only for the music. Set in the 1880's, the fiddle tunes during the roller skating scene are so memorable as to have stayed with me over the years. In fact, the back story of the sound track is quite interesting.
Another great video! I thought it was funny when Aladino showed you what your new pants pockets were for! We always love it when you play for us. I just can't wait to see Magic Carpet II finished. I know it will be beautiful!
I often have to finish 4 sides of something, and while it is often spraying, it is still the same thing, wet surface on all sides. The way I usually do it is to apply finish to one side, the side that is least seen, and then support that side on top of 3 pointed supports, (nails or screw tips) that go thru a board and thus support the item above a surface so that the freshly applied coating is only touching the screw tips. Then while all is still wet, I can apply the finish to the other sides. I think on most things commercially finished you can often see small dimples in the finish on one side, as others do it this way too. Perhaps that wouldn't work for what you are doing, but maybe it would. Great video as always. I wish I could have you folks stay at my place. I have 40 acres, and a really great wood shop. Unfortunately, while I'm only 4 miles from the ocean, you could never get a boat in and out that is your size....
Great job once more, they look really nice. And so true when you're out there on the ocean with some bad weather it gives you peace of mind when you know you can trust your ship!! Have fun :-)
Hello, We want to congratulate you on the work you do and have done. You two are really passionate and do a beautiful job. Soooo much work and so much love into that boat. We have no clue to bpats but love watching your videos. My husband makes model ships, the Bluenose...nothing compared to what you do but he can appreciate all your work. And I share your Dutch heritage as I am from Holland. Wishing you Happy Holidays a great New Year. Love following you on UA-cam. Regards The Dutch French Canadians.❤
Well, enjoy your Christmas holidays btw the boat is going to look fantastic when she's completed. So far you all are doing a great restoration thus far!!! even better than the original masterpiece, by the looks of things.
You're an awesome musician! It adds so much to your storytelling.
Looking good as always! One suggestion. Fancy pants Maya, all ya need is a fancy belt to top'em off Ma'am...
Traveling mercies with happy returns you guys. PreciateCha and God Bless⛵🙏🏻⚓
The three "P's" of any project? Patience, Perseverance and Profanity.
The knee pads would spare the knees for close work, so they are very useful. When i was a kid, mother used to get us jeans with double patched knees because we wore through them so fast. Looking better and better!! Thank you both for sharing your journey with all of us!!
Take good care! Cheers from Guam! 🇬🇺
The Butterfly hatch looks amazing.
This is my favorite part of Friday! Nothing about the boat, or the two of you is ever "underwhelming" I enjoy seeing all the progress, the new pants, listening to the amazing violin music, all of it. Boat looks great and you have added 8 more feet of space and stability to your travels. Good luck with your efforts and travels.

Fantastic violin playing :-)
Fantastic boat! I really look forward to following along as the restoration progresses, and maybe sharing an anchorage someday once you launch! Cheers from Cowichan Bay.
I have loved watching your progress. The boat is looking very fine indeed.
I wish I had you guys helping me and teaching about fixing my boat
Tack!
Go like Leo: "I guess 2 years!" ... ... not only will you manage, but you have one of the most beautiful crafted sailing channels out there. :)
I like to always say: "There has to be a harder way!?" I am usually working hard to find it :) 12:55
Great work guys!
First of all, I loved the music in this episode. As always your craftsmanship and positive attitude are truly impressive. I hope you can get back from Europe and finish the project before the cold of winter.
You two are like little kids in a toy store. Love the story-telling and the pants. Keep it to good work.
Dear Maya "les Poulles Hupées" is the second tune and is a bourée from the french Berry.
Beautiful episode. Aladino’s skills shining through and Mayas’ music skill. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this video. Love ya pants
My day is better because of your videos. Thank you.
You created an episode so full of joy it actually brought a tear to my eye. Especially seeing the blocking [which I've been looking forward to ALL week] with its gorgeous contrast! Wow!
Fear not, the blocking looks perfectly whelming.
This is going to look amazing when its finished great milestone keep it going the pay off is sailing her finished and sharing with us land locked people
Very nice! Looking forward to your European adventures.
Next Friday is the 24th, so JUST IN CASE, I miss your vlog I'm gonna wish you two a Merry Christmas now. May your days be merry and bright etc., etc., etc. All the best :-)
i love the poetic way you speak

Thank you both for your excellent videos, I am constantly amazed by your dedication to perfection!
Music helps express the emotions that words quite can't. ☺️ Another great episode

All amazingly well done. The boat work and the story telling.

Because it looks fu..ing amazing, brillant, breathtaking.......

Les Poules Huppées is the second tune, actually composed by French hurdy gurdy player Gilles Chabenat.

Nice fiddle work. Built a steel sail boat when I was your age. I'm now a luthier, if you ever sail into Campbell River I'll give you a free rehair.
Very nice craftsmanship, hope to see you enjoying II soon…
