I recently bought my first Seiko. I’ve always had cheap watches because I’m a contractor and I can’t stand to spend very much on a watch that’s going to get beat up on job sites every day. Seiko for me is the perfect balance between quality and price on their lower end. If I break it I won’t cry but it’s so much nicer than a timex or something of that caliber.
Welcome to the club buddy. Thats exactly why we all love Seiko here. Sure, some of the discontinued and or JDM models can fetch a pretty penny online but realistically we all should be able to use and abuse a Seiko and not hurt too much when it’s time to replace it with another.
For the jobsite, allow me to suggest: the Casio G-shock square DW5610U. It's solar powered, it sets itself from the atomic clocks, it's in-FKN-destructible... And it costs 120.00 USD. If you break it... Well, you won't.
@@krcjayhawks I have an Apple Watch but I can’t remember the last time I wore it. My job is high stress and one of the reasons I started wearing a watch every day was so that I wouldn’t have to look at my phone to check the time. Time felt like it was just flying by in a blur so I decided to do what I can to hit the breaks and be more present in my day to day. It’s sounds woo woo but it really does help.
@@TheDkbohde I absolutely get where you're coming from. This is a bit different than a typical smart watch is something I cant emphasize enough. For many years, my three watch collection consisted of an Alpinist (for fall/winter), an SKX009 (spring/summer) and a Cocktail (dress watch). Honestly, that's more than enough.
I have a seiko sq100 from 1980 and I love it. Its not much of a high value collectors watch, but it looks good, and you can get it for about £100-£150.
After being a Seiko fan boy for the last 4yrs I've found a competitive Japanese brand called Citizen that's absolutely killing it on their titanium eco drive watches with the amazing dial options ..

Reminiscing about classic cars is always better than reality. These cars were available new when I was in high school and I experienced both in period. I’m conflicted on watches. They used to be this status symbol that signaled your class, now they’re obsolete by smart watches and cellphones, but now they’re coming back around for me as this pure mechanical experience of how life used to be. When quality really mattered, and all you needed was a really fucking good watch that would never let you down. In that respect, I adore them not as status symbols or as anything essential, but as a testament to ingenuity and design. They’re beautiful. I miss watches. I’m not a watch snob at all. I can appreciate a well made cheap watch that does it all and never lets you down. Maybe even more so than an expensive watch because for the money you spend on a luxury watch it BETTER work perfect forever. I also don’t believe in these kinds of things as investments. Get it cause you like it, not to pretend it’s something you’re buying to compound your wealth.
The Presage featured here looks to be my start into quality watches. I’m sure Teddy is sick of hearing this from me 😂 I tried it on and think it’s so elegant and well designed. So comfortable. And that it cost around $300 is stunning. It will be my daily driver.
Most of my collection is Seiko, but I gotta say that I don't understand or agree when people say the turtle is one of the best at that price point. I am sorry but my experience has shown that the 4R movement is okay for Seiko 5 price point but I would say a bit overpriced for the Turtle... love the video tho!

SPB121 is just a great watch, it punches way above its weight class 😮 Seiko does push all the buttons 🤔 but you could also do that with Bulova 🤨 start with the Lunar Pilot, go with the Jet Star you just reviewed, and for a dive watch pick the Devil Diver Orange dial 😎 and get all 3 for less that $2000 😁
