1🎯🎯% The SARB017 was gonna *BE* my one-watch "collection" until I got bit by the bug. Now I'm trying to liquidate earlier purchases to live out my Sinn dreams. Anyone need 13 different and unique Vostok Amphibia 420's (some neat customs in the mix)??? JK, but really
I recently bought my first Seiko. I’ve always had cheap watches because I’m a contractor and I can’t stand to spend very much on a watch that’s going to get beat up on job sites every day. Seiko for me is the perfect balance between quality and price on their lower end. If I break it I won’t cry but it’s so much nicer than a timex or something of that caliber.
Welcome to the club buddy. Thats exactly why we all love Seiko here. Sure, some of the discontinued and or JDM models can fetch a pretty penny online but realistically we all should be able to use and abuse a Seiko and not hurt too much when it’s time to replace it with another.
For the jobsite, allow me to suggest: the Casio G-shock square DW5610U. It's solar powered, it sets itself from the atomic clocks, it's in-FKN-destructible... And it costs 120.00 USD. If you break it... Well, you won't.
Most of my collection is Seiko, but I gotta say that I don't understand or agree when people say the turtle is one of the best at that price point. I am sorry but my experience has shown that the 4R movement is okay for Seiko 5 price point but I would say a bit overpriced for the Turtle... love the video tho!
Seiko movements don't get any good until you get into Grand Seiko. Save your money. Go for Tissot, Mido, Certina, or Longines. Tutima is another good choice.
I have a seiko sq100 from 1980 and I love it. Its not much of a high value collectors watch, but it looks good, and you can get it for about £100-£150.
Ha! I've got a Teddy-recommended collection! SRPA21J1 JDM Pepsi Turtle The Presage Cocktail Time and while I was in Osaka I bought the green Alpinist GMT! Seiko is life!
Nice picks Teddy! I'm a Seiko fan too, my thing is I like a watch that gives more time than it takes, less fiddle = more for me, my picks are for the office job = SWR064 or SUR369, I love a a watch that reminds me of thin mint chocolate wrapped in gold foil, for the off-time sports time activity SNJ033 Arnie variant, for a red snapper diner with shrimp cocktails I like the SNKM97 Recraft or the SNE565 Coutura, I would swap any strap that feels like a distraction, in a social outing ultra modern or ultra vintage design never wealth signal on the first date just saying pretentious is not a vibe you want give as a first impression and Seiko is perfect for this
My perfect three watch collection from one brand would be: a steel Omega Speedmaster '57 with a burgundy dial and steel bracelet, a steel Omega Constellation Globemaster with a blue dial and a dark brown alligator strap and a steel Omega De Ville Co-axial GMT Worldtimer with a grey dial and a brick road bracelet.
I have the willard and samurai, would pair well with an alpinist, 62 mas, seitona, maybe a flighty Sadly I’ve been looking for a black king turtle with the waffle dial. I know it’s older I just like the look
My perfect 3 watch collection : a citizen eco drive divers watch, a G-Shock watch and a Vostok Amphibia divers watch...and all 3 of them are cheaper than a seiko divers watch...😂
🤔 Hmmm, no 62MAS? No Cpt. Willard? But that silly, delicate little cocktail time presage made the cut. Weird flex but OK. I'd have the SARB017 and call it the dress watch, Willard as the sport, and 62MAS as *THE* diver. But collecting is a personal journey- to each their own. Great short, it started a -while- edit: "whole" conversation 👍
I have a mini-turtle as my sports/dive watch, then my blue Seiko 5 GMT as my everyday watch, and lastly my SNA411 flightmaster because screw it, I never wear dress clothing.😅
Or, get an SBTM323, with a few straps. A one watch gada that costs a few hundred, looks a million, lasts forever, never loses time and won't need a service! You can even hand it down to your grandkids.😂
Really? I have a 6.1inch wrist and currently wear a seiko mini turtle. Any 39mm dive watch has fit me perfectly but I’m wondering if the Willard, SPB143 or slim turtle would be the most appropriate seiko upgrade for me. I feel like I could handle slightly larger but I hope the Willard isn’t too bulky
Or just do what I did and get the SARB017, SARB033, and the SARB065. The sarb triplets, along with my SKX007, cover all the bases and are all you'll need 🙏
Technically the alpinist can be a sports watch it's made for Mountaineering I also never understood why there needs to be a compass bezel on a watch that's if you line up the sun with the 10 positioned than the 12 position becomes due north if I'm not mistaken
You line up the hrs. hand with the sun, then split the difference between hrs and 12:00 to find South in the northern hemisphere. But yeah, EVERY watch with an hour hand and 12-hr dial is a compass.
@@hgr.7857 I understand that. It's exactly what my comment is is about. And would negate the necessity for having a bezel whether it's inside or outside that has a compass on that bezel. Because you can use the dial itself to find North and South
@@dtroutmann Ok, and I understand that you understand that a person *can* use an analog watch to find the cardinal directions. But your assessment of how to do so was... 🤨 You are in fact mistaken with the method of HOW to do so. You're right that it CAN be done but incorrect as to how. So, again, for anyone who's curious: 1) Hold the watch flat (in relation to the ground) 2) point hrs. hand at the sun 3)split the difference between hrs and 12 o'clock. That line points approximately SOUTH if you are standing in the northern hemisphere 4) If you're in the southern hemisphere, that line points north. Up
@@memelogy737 Seiko's are recently moving more and more away from their "affordable" prestigiousness they used to have. SKX's are 800$ now, which is ... dumb as hell honestly. way better choice.
Skx007, sarb017, and sacm150

The alpinist Is my Dream watch 😊
Perfect three-watch collection:
Seiko Speedtimer
Seiko Cocktail Time (any color)
Seiko Alpinist (any version)
The speedtimer is beaultiful indeed, what a watch. Nice selection
@@lfos31wearing my black speedtimer right now. it’s been my daily work horse for the last few months. great watch for the money.
Love the Alpinist. Such a beautiful watch.
Nice choices. Personally, I would’ve included a model from the Sharp-Edge collection as an everyday watch.
You just explained all 3 essential seiko watches I only have in my collection. 🙌🏽
I already got the Presage and Alpinist. Love it esp the Alpinist, so good looking and great value of money
Bought myself my first Seiko this week (SRPE55), super versatile watch

Absolutely love my prospex alpinist! It’s my only mechanical right now and im not sure if i need another one
Switch the first one with the Prospex Speed Timer (Panda dial) for the sports watch.
Perfect 3 watch collection:
ben 10 digital watch (cool)
adventure time dialogue watch (slick)
invicta gold skull XL watch (badass)
Seiko movements don't get any good until you get into Grand Seiko. Save your money. Go for Tissot, Mido, Certina, or Longines. Tutima is another good choice.
Have the Presage and Alpanist. Swap the straps out and you have two great pieces!
Absolutely! I recommend the ColaReb Parma for the alpinist and the Verona for the cocktail time
I have a seiko sq100 from 1980 and I love it. Its not much of a high value collectors watch, but it looks good, and you can get it for about £100-£150.
The Presage Cocktail Time in blue is my favorite dress watch!
Great video, could you do something similar for Tissot?
Tissot sea star (sports/diver), Tissot PRX or Gentleman(daily), Tissot Le Locle (dress).
Alternatively: Sideral (dive), Chemin des Tourelles (dress). PRX / Gentleman stays.
Alternative for Tissot dress watch: Heritage Porto
Ha! I've got a Teddy-recommended collection!
SRPA21J1 JDM Pepsi Turtle
The Presage Cocktail Time

Could you do this for something more affordable like Timex? Great list
My take on Seiko: SRPD65, Baby Alpinist with the Green dial and the Cocktail Time Blue Moon. Seiko > Rolex.
Love the turtle
Great selection! I'd replace the SRPB43 with the Seiko Presage Cocktail Time Irori Moments SRPK50J.

I own a Seiko 5 Sports watch

2nd one is cool. Other 2 are wak

My pick would be 1.seiko gmt 2.coctail 3.alpinist
I believe an alpinist is already a dress watch, so you can replace pressage with speedtimer 911 chronograph.
I wish I could find the Seiko SRPF41J1 Matcha green watch, that would be one of the three for me. Too bad they only made 7000
I would’ve subbed the cocktail time to the presage sharp edge collection (SPB203)
Do it with more brands please!
The alpinist is more of a dress watch for me rather than a field watch.
I feel the same way. And TBH, it looks much more classy (and much less DORKY, thin and delicate) than prototypical dress watches.
