My neighbors bought one. On the way back from the dealer on day one of ownership, it broke down for the first time. It was downhill after that! But it did have a nice interior.
I have wanted to buy a Land Rover since the Discovery came to North America in about 1992. They did a good job at hiding the reliability issues in the beginning but with the Advent of the internet it seems to be a well known fact that these discoveries have a tendency to self destruct as a grocery getter. I can buy a 2004 Discovery for around $4,000 Canadian. Considering a Lexus GX at that age sells for 3 to 4 times that amount sends a lot of messages and yet I still want one because I just love the way they look and with an aluminum body it works well for where I live in a province surrounded by salt water. I don't understand how Ford and BMW owned this company for as many years as they did and still did't fix known engine problem like the iron cylinder sleeve slipping from the engine block.
Land Rover fan club,eh? You forgot to mention that once Nissan & Toyota launched into Africa, Australia, & the bush everywhere.....Land Rover quietly went home and flat out gave up those markets.....unable to compete with vehicles costing 1/2 the price. AND....don’t get me started on the Discovery and the mini LR’s.....I wouldn’t even know where to begin
Please just stop with the bellyaching about what you perceive as Land Rover reliability, and just buy something else. That way, there will be more Land Rovers for people who like and appreciate them. Thanks!!
All of these cars are so overrated. They would not go anywhere without human help to pull them out whenever they get stuck. Push them out of the mud, stretch the winch cord around a fitted tree, or remove shit from the engine bay.
This is my FAV Land Rover documentary!
I Really Like the 2020 110 Defender, Good Show.

People these days buy SUVs just to have a greater road presence rather than using them for what they're built for
8:37 " on the trails of America, the Jeep was still king". Shows footage of Toyota FJ Landcruiser.
Take a look at documentary they made about Jeep and you will spot FJ more then few times over there.
The Queen Elizabeth II car brand of choice
I'll take my jeep grand Cherokee limited with the 5.7 hemi anyday
Thats' why the Jeep can be made by using any brand of engine in the Philippines..
8:38 shows a Toyota with a winch.....probably pulling a Land Rover out of trouble after the LR quit running

You really don't understand why they didn't fix the known problems? It's because they were still finding enough fools to buy the things.
If they can only keep them from breaking all the time, they would be even greater cars.
That was the longest commercial I’ve ever watched. More engineering and less marketing would have made this much more interesting.

3/4 of all land rovers ever sold are still one the road ..unless you live outside of the U.K..then it's 1/10th..lol
Ugh, I don't envy writing the sugarcoating of what LR sent to USA. They did themselves in by marketing junk as upscale.

Well said.
The 2 most unreliable vehicles in the world are land rover and jaguar
