Germans just make amazing cars. It's pretty amazing how BMW after all these years still is dedicated to maintaining their reputation for performance and luxury and not cutting corners. American cars just aren't the same as they were with GM struggling with quality control right now. There's a huge community of bmw/audi/VW enthusiasts almost everywhere you go. Even Mercedes which doesnt have the best reputation for reliability, is becoming one of the most reliable and attractive manufacturers to young drivers. I hope BMW continues to outdo themselves and their competitors. Such a great brand with such a crazy history.
The only time when Mercedes built a crap car is when they doing partnership with chrysler. When they're independent, Mercedes was known to built an extremely durable car that can survive many years. While BMW's foundation is "driving experience"
Why has Jay Leno not featured these rare cars?!? The video of these, up close, is astounding! Beautiful interiors and the restorations are immaculate. Thank you for preserving them on film!
Grandad missed a big opportunity in 1957 by turning down a job with BMW corporate to help open up a larger dealer network on the west coast. The only model they offered at the time in the US was a death-trap-looking 2-cylinder Isetta bubble car & it looked to him as if there was no future at BMW. Sooooooo, he went to work for good old stable Alfa Romeo instead!
Fu that bavarian Cars, BMW was responsible for the liquidation of the best car builder we had, the northern germany comp. Borgward. I owned only one BMW when i was 27 i had a 1502, i was not happy with that car, drove most times VW Beetle ( when i was young) or Passat GT or bigger OPEL/GM models like the Rekord E, sadly Opels/GM`s 6 cyl. was not available for the Rekord Model after OPEL ended the Kommodore production line, i was so satisfied that i buyed a 2nd Rekord E Berlina both with 105hp, 4 Door , Hardtop (which i like so much) and automatik but my dream was to own a Plymouth or Chevy ( late 50 models) both are rare here in germany and expensive also because of the gasoline prize "its engines powered the planes" at 08:23 and they show the Ju-87 B Stuka Divebomber powerded by Junkers JUMO 211 Engines, BMW Engines, like the BMW 801, powered the Focke Wulf 190A/F/G models, the engine had constant problems of overheating in the first 190 models which led nearly to the cancelation of the Fw 190 program, or the BMW 132 in Junkers Ju-52 Transports, but the BMW 132 aeroengine was a license built US Pratt and Whitney Hornet, in mid/late war BMW produced a Jet engine the BMW 003 but BMW had problems to made the 003 combatready so the first Jetfighter in history the Me-262 was powered by a Junkers JUMO 004 Jetengine, same with Hortens flying wing Jetaircraft the Ho-IX or Go-229 ( today in a US Museum) , BMWs Jet was not ready at the time so the Wings had to be reconstructed for fitting more reliable JUMO 004 engine . but to be fair BMW built good motorcycles, my Grandpa owned one in late 30`s , early 40`s , the Germ. Goverm. confiscated the motorcycle for military use, then he was conscripted and send to eastern front, he never came back, MIA.
You drove a 1502? That explains why you dislike BMWs so much. I'm sure you would have a very different opinion if you had the 2002ti. The 1502 was about fuel-savings, approached in the worst way with super-low compression and the smallest displacement offered in the body. The 1602 and 1802 would have left you with a better impression.
This is the least comprehensive BMW video I've seen. They never mentioned the 5 series, the 6 series, the 8 series. Didn't really touch the M series as well.
the little Austin 7 was also the first SS, Jaguar and Lotus thanx to Herbert Austin who originally designed sheering equipment for the Wolseley sheep shearing company
If I could ever get a BMW (BMV in the Commercial LOL).... It would absolutely be the 635CSI!!!! 💘😁😁😎👌 May not have been the best, but it captivated me when I was 22. ......... X5........ *LEAST CAPABLE SUV ever created! 😑😖
How the mighty have fallen... Today, BMW are plastic, leaky, oil burning junk. We do not call them "Bummers" for no good reason. Do yourselves a favor: "lease and forget". Let the next poor chap deal with the egregious design, and quality practices.
They also forgot the BMW 328 was also built and tunend under licence by Frazer-Nash and the BMW and the famous sixcylinder engine was the start of Bristol Cars !
You're right Iconic!! It reinvented the Sports Sedan!! 😖 The 1500 and 1800 were obviously the Genesis.... But that was just the START of a fantastic Driver's Car!
The new BMWs have become piece of shit vehicles , they fall apart faster than they were built . Over engineered with cheap plastic parts , unreliable electronics , power trains , astronomical number of unreliable sensors , leaky engine , transmission , power steering components , extremely expensive parts and stock market crash type resale value . They will worth pennies after 5 years .
I alway envied Europes car society . The focus was on driving them . Here in the US it was all about drag racing and Nascar .... while I can ejoy drag racing ....Nascar isn't even true to its creed anymore . Nothing about it is stock car related and its boring as hell
Euro engine bays are meticulously designed. Effort is put into hiding wiring harness, vacuum hoses, etc. They also use a lot of beauty covers to fill in gaps, and hide less asthetically pleasing components, and hardware. This also adds to the cost of servicing. Usually a technician will need to remove more components to reach their repair destination etc. Also, a lot of these components are made of plastic and become brittle with age. Usually damaging upon removal, and requiring replacement. Adds to the repair bill.
Pretty Engines yes.... But I'm still stuck on that first 6 Cylinder... 1.5L!!??? Make sure you don't lose any Pistons in the Carpet when overhauling!!! 😜😂😄😂
If there was anyplace on roads to ride motorcycles I would own one . They should be banned from the roads . You are the crumple zone and airbag on a motorcycle . Off road just as unsafe but at least not as popular .
THAT ONE AND ONLY ORIGINAL NO VIDEO CHANNEL Sure, but his hatred for BMW comes from an X5 water pump that whooped his butt; because if it is too hard for him to fix, it sucks!
Love the Drum n Bass vibes and also the fact that we the viewers are actually looking back at the timepoint this film was made at.
I finally have arrived at the digital version of the DVD I grew up with, very nostalgic.

Not cutting corners? Have you owned one of these recently? They are junk these days.

Its nice to see that old connection still exists with the new mini.
no single word about best cruiser bike ever built - R1200C

It's always hard to predict the future.
at that time i would have done the same
Today they are a big pile of shit one day after the warrantee expires.

I agree that BMW had something to do with the demise of Borgward.I bought one new in 1959 and prized it.I NOW HAVE A 1958 Combi as a collector car.

Sounds like you didn't need them to

Don't know what it is, but I'd take a BMW over any comparable Mercedes any day of the week....
Mercedes still just look clunky beside Beemers. Nobody should buy a car based on its looks, but most people do!
@@billolsen4360 Don’t we pick our wives on looks to a certain degree. Everyone wants their vehicle to look cool.
My favored is the E39 wagon
I have a 1999 BMW Z3 2.8 thanks from Orlando Florida
I heard they will run on sauerkraut

no 600 :(
"Powerful yet refined". And then everything goes wrong. No wonder in the US, most BMWs are leased, not bought.
No E30???? No E32???? what a failure

They forgot in 1998 that bmw Acquired rolls Royce motor company
They also forgot the BMW 328 was also built and tunend under licence by Frazer-Nash and the BMW and the famous sixcylinder engine was the start of Bristol Cars !
Buying RR was worth forgetting.
Totally skipped over the ICONIC 2002 series! #sad

Nothing that a 600 dollar Fiat can total is worth six figures let alone 7 or 8 some of these collector cars are fetching ....

Why do European Engines USUALLY look better than American engines? I like American cars that are built well, but still.

Sorry, but the WWII-Planes shown here were not powered by BMW.
Shouldn't have been too hard to find Focke Wulf 190 footage, which were powered by BMW's 801 series of radial engines.
So why is it, so many beemer drivers are azzhats? :)
Because they are late for the sausage fest
you skipped the 90s... bmw 540i and the 325i.... redo your video....
Not as well done as your other auto profiles disappointing for a brand I've owned and love.
The old models still run but the new ones are plastic trash

Go to Scotty Kilmer's (a mechanic) channel and see what he says about BMWs.
He's an assclown.
He can’t afford a BMW, envy lol
@@davidviner4932 He's a millionaire
He can walk and talk at the same time, and I guess we should be thankful for that.

Strongly Dislike the new Mini!!
They are great fun to drive. Like a go cart for grownups.
My wife has one and I absolutely love driving it. I only use my Volvo when she’s not home.
BMW are have no character.
Love the M1 though
The Z3 wasn't the first roadster since the 50s, they forgot the Z1, pathetic, I will now unsubscribe
Z3 is 1st Mass PRODUCTION Roadster since the 1950's. Z1 was very limited production
Overblown and too costly .
I just posted this to see how maný twisted knickers it would inspire
Did I get you ?
German cars are such crap.
