    Mercedes-Benz. Germany's flagship brand. My favorite car brand. My vehicles of choice. First car I ever drove. First car I rented in my own name. My daily driver.

    My first car out of high school, 1959 190b, was a great car. Even had the engine rebuilt by the local Benz dealer.

    Mercedes Benz is a very serious automaker who is always considered one of the best. Had America remained the industrial power it was prior to WW2 we wouldn't need to buy Mercedes Benz here, we had Packard, Duesenberg, Lincoln, Cadillac and others. We were making some of the best cars on earth back then, and certainly the best value car for the money spent.

      My experience working for GM leads me to believe that management was out of touch with reality. After WWII they were doing so well and had no competition because Europe and Japan were decimated. They were lulled into believing that this would go on forever and ignored or dismissed any indications that either European or Asian car companies would ever pose a challenge at any level. This went on until the big three faced complete collapse. The good news is that the management of these companies knows what the world market looks like. But there are still legacy issues like their luxury brands that still aren't seen as being as prestigious.

    Back in 2003, Synetic/TDK released Mercedes Benz World Racing, a very good driving/racing simulator. Almost all of Mercedes lineup from the past to 2003 were represented faithfully in the game. If you can find a copy, it still works, even on my reasonably up to date win 10 PC. :) They did release World Racing 2, but there were many different cars from various companies, both well known, and not so much, but IMO, it wasn't as good, as drifting took over much of the game play.

    Never knew Goebbels was a race fan pictured . Why were other manufactures in this series shown converting to war production but not Mercedes. You showed Volvo , Saab and American car manufacturers . Gentleman history is history good or bad. Truth is truth. Can't wait to see how you treat the other German manufacturers.

    Its a good video but critique were needed, no showing off the famous sedans that really made the company what it is today arguably like the famous E Class such as W123 in question.
    Also no mention of Benz war production during WW1 and WW2 in which they made trucks, aircraft engines and even dabbled in tank designs and prototype production.
    While its arguable that it may have not been all that important history its important in regards to their experience with engines and the origin of Mercedes Benz trucks which started in WW1

    Unfortunately Mercedes have now tried to appeal to the masses sadly this has devalued the brand...I’d rather have a VW over any entry level Mercedes as the basic VW is better built and better value than Mercedes at a third of the cost....eg golf...plus as l currently own both marques from new ... customer service at Mercedes is woefull for a so called upmarket brand....

    Mercedes is good, but Detroit automakers were and could have been better. What happening in Detroit is tragic, it was stifled by over regulation, and government policies that moved US industries to China and elsewhere and the crooked Federal Reserve money system. It became impossible for Detroit automakers to compete in the world, especially its work force. Detroit's destruction was by design and engineered by the powerful international elites.
    For the US economy Detroit Michigan is like the canary in the coal mine, when the canary dies it's time for the miners to get out of the mine because of toxic gases. More than 2 thirds of the City of Detroit has died.
    It's time to wake up, we have an enemy is within, and they all called Masons, Jesuits and the Pope.

    • @KingRoseArchives
      @KingRoseArchives  7 років тому +2

      Boy, I don't think you've got this right at all. My time in the belly of the beast indicated to me that Detroit's woes largely stemmed from management's living in a fantasy bubble of disinformation. After the War (WWII), the US was the last man standing and our industries, including the auto sector, reigned supreme. In Detroit, it was said that as long as you could push it off the assembly line it would sell. And for years they were right. Unfortunately, they couldn't believe that companies like Mercedes or the Asian based companies like Honda and Toyota would ever be a real challenge. Instead of really competing on quality, reliability and durability they went merrily on their way ignoring all warning signs or misinterpreting reality. As sales, or market share, declined they had to cut costs, close plants and lay off hundreds of thousands of workers. Finally, bankruptcy for two out the three big three and near bankruptcy for Ford caused a psychic and generational shift to occur. The young executives at GM who were often sent to remote outposts like Brazil or Australia, when they had tried to point out the reckoning that was about to come, were brought back into the fold and the American car business is finally regaining its glory. But that won't bring back the jobs that were lost and repair the damage that was done to communities all over the country. If you're looking for a conspiracy I think it's in the Confederacy of Dunces who pranced along like the emperor without clothes.

    • @modfus

      Hmm, so why exactly did the Catholic church conspire to destroy the American motor industry?

    • @bagwan98
      @bagwan98 6 років тому +1

      Marten Trudeau: If Detroit was destroyed by regulation why were so many foreign manufacturers able to keep up with these onerous rules? Why did my early 70's Nova POS have a 2 speed transmission? Whoops! I just read the rest of your post and realize you are just anther nut job. Trump supporter are you? Looking for clean coal?

      @@modfus I think Marten is referring to the Globalist "New World Order".
      A bit of an overreaction of his view on current times.
      The finally "awoke" older generation sees it that way.
      I certainly see it that way too.
