Yeah, it would have helped this review immensely if the guitar was in tune.

This. One of the reasons I think 8 is better than 12 is to make tuning easier. Hearing this off didn’t help. Lol

I have had mine for a few weeks now. They don't ship with a case so I purchased one from Guitar Center.
Most any Jumbo case will work. I chose an ABS Roadrunner hard case for mine.
My Guild 8 string came set up with D'Addario Baritone Strings.
The guitar is easy to tune and it stays in tune very well. I do need to tweak the bass B string a bit when I capo up 2 or more frets.
This is a very nice guitar at a fantastic price!
    Here is a tip.
Try replacing the second string [plain steal] with a wrapped string to get a smoother feel.

Thanks for sharing your experience, and for the tips, Dale! I’m seriously looking at getting one of these bad boys! Happy playin’.

I need a 12-string version of this. I cannot afford 5k+ for a custom baritone 12. I’ve wanted one of these for ten years to no avail!

I listened to other videos on different 8 strings. All of them, I think do to the octave stings, just like a 12 string, suffer from tuning issues. His “G” chord was pretty good.

Is it out of tune or is the intonation bad ?

I watched a different video on UA-cam about a Taylor that was a 8 string and they mentioned you can't remove the octave strings without doing some sort of work on it.

What if I bought this and I had my fun with it, but then I want to try a 6 string baritone…, does the string spacing allow me to just take off the two extra strings?

So... do you buy a set of twelve strings and toss the other four octaves or do they sell eight count string packs?

I don't know if they've revealed what strings come on it, but I'm pretty sure it'll be the same special 8 string baritone set that Elixir already makes for Taylor.

@@Jasontheguitarist87 I use a standard baritone set and purchased the .012 and .014 plain steel strings separately.
I had 8 sets of old stock Martin Lifespan Baritone Gauge Strings that I bought online and then ordered a dozen each of the octave strings from Just Strings. I was lucky and got the Martin strings for $5.00 a set. I'm good for a couple of years or more for baritone strings now.

Elixir sells an 8 pack now for baritone guitars, and they have the light nanoweb on them, so they last forever. Right now, about $25 for a set 👍🏼

@@banacek60chord43 I t does sound good, but I kept thinking those 2 extra strings are just muddying up the sound. Just made me long for the clarity of a six string.

@@JohnnyArtPavlou I think it's 'cause it's so out of tune. I first heard my buddy's Taylor with the full 8 and was suitably wowed' the next time I heard it, he'd gone down to 6 and it wasn't a patch. This demo of the Guiid certainly doesn't make me wish for one.

@@banacek60chord43 Thanks for that. I think I recall watching demo of the 8 string Taylor thinking that it sounded good and added something to the music. Here, not so much. Sometimes I'm not clever enough to hear when a guitar is out of tune.

I wonder if, as with so many Chinese built products, the poor tuning is because it just wouldn't have it? No good having a big sound if it's off key. This is a promotional piece but in spite of the commentary and it being out of tune, it looks like a b**ch to play.
