      @@wendywhite4929 it's always a testament to the state of society when politicians win by rhetoric and populism rather than by politics and debate. It shows how stupid and desperate some people are, that they'd rather vote for someone who is a blatant yesman than a person to can argue logically and explain their reasoning.
      Literally populism should be illegal.

    Remember, Bernie was the _mayor_ of the town when he did this. He went to the mall, he found a couple of weird looking teenagers, and he interviewed them. He didn't make fun of them, he didn't cut them off. He asked them serious questions, and when they gave him shaky, nervous answers, he just asked them to explain further. He treated them with respect.

      @@jal-kx6tm It is true that rhetoric can be inspired from previous generations, but in this case said rhetoric is countercultural. It was mostly uncommon for alternative individuals to be accepted as the “status quo” in the 60’s/70’s/80’s/90’s as their perspectives and outward appearances challenged societal norms instead of adhering to them. Bernie was and is also anti-capitalist and largely socialist, which was shunned by most Americans until more recently. It is really something to watch the arc of this interview. They started with their guard up, almost assuming they were being challenged. Then as Bernie continued asking constructive questions, they started having more honest and thought out answers. Clearly, they were teens and didn’t have a lot of perspective behind their answers, but they meant well and were relatively conscientious people. I liked this.

      If you were born in 1998, then there wasn’t really any pre-Internet for you to remember since AOL made the Internet huge in 1992, when you were 4. People were exactly the same then as they are now as they were 100 years ago, including all those who back then talked about how everything was supposedly different and better when they were young as well. Back then, they blamed TV, and before that films, and before that radio, and on and on. Humans don’t fundamentally change, despite us always believing we do.

    Anarchism is fairly complex and there's actually not a lot of strong representation to make a solid case for it or to make sense of it. Especially to dispel any fear that it would lead to actual chaos and anarchy.
    For the most part politics themselves are already complicated so most people aren't going to spend that much time learning it without giving into their other personal interests and pursuits.
    God I love this interview though. No bullying or immature aggressive or passive aggressive remarks. Just a solid respectful interview.❤

    • @IMC-zx6xl
      @IMC-zx6xl 10 днів тому

      I think it's less about the strong representation and more about the fact that people are taught that the current system is perfect, and has no problems and that anyone who says otherwise are "sissy liberals" and "commies".
