I still use the Lepou plugs. They are my litmus test for all the latest and greatest stuff that has come out over the years. I almost always end up going back to them. Lecto is just flat out amazing.
I started using VST from past 8-10 months after starting watching your channel. And recently discovered this plugin, and I thought it was more versatile and better sounding than Emissary. now it is my go to free plugin.!
IRs are a massive factor in tone and I think this shoes just how good the catharsis ones are. No matter what Ir packs I get hold of, I still often go back to these. Great stuff dude.
The le456 and lextac were his two best efforts to me by far. I loved all of his models but those 2 shined above the rest back in the day. I came back to recording a year or so ago and re-downloaded these and, all these years later, they're STILL 2 of my favorite amp sims
I still use this, the Solo C, LexTac, Brit Stack, and the LeCto. They hold up super well. The Nick Crow ones are decent in my opinion, as well as the Preampus amps. But I'd have to say the LePou ones are superior
LE456 and Legion were my go-to amp sims alongside the Amplitube Metal pack and the NRR-1 by Ignite Amps back when I first got into home recording as a young kid about 9 years ago. Pretty much exclusively use Mikko's stuff nowadays but I'm pretty surprised at how well Lepou's stuff still holds up! \m/
I still use Catharsis IRs. Or Ola's "The One" IR. I was a dummy 10 years ago and didn't know how to properly record and dial LePou in. After years and watching your videos, I have finally figured it out lol.
I don't personally use Lepou anymore, but that's more of a "I have too much stuff" than them actually being bad. I loved the SoloC and XTC plugs. Truly banging tone for the time. I listen to my first 2012 mixes with them and they still hold up, and I'm pretty harsh on myself mix wise. PS: Anyone remember the Messiah IR that came out in late 2012 from FearcomplexMusic? Another very "flat" but good mix-ready tone with the right sim. Awesome vid as always Scott.
I do remember that IR, and I have it somewhere on my PC. I remember that I think he also came out with a few drum samples, too. Haha, that's another trip down memory lane for sure!
I've been hunting down free IR's like an addict hunts crack and they've all been fizzy and lacking in low end but that catharsis pack just made my guitar tones better instantly, I slapped one onto one of my existing chains and got that aggressive pick attack sound I've been chasing... soon I'll actually have to improve my technique because I'm running out of excuses. Cheers!
How am I just seeing this video now?, massive love for the LePou stuff. Loved this sim and the LeGion. It was cool for using the Le456 for a grittier tone and the LeGion if I wanted a more razor sharp (Iced Earth Something Wicked era), type tone. With some basic eq moves and good IR’s these sims still stand on their own. In fact after watching this, I’m definitely going have another look at them.
mAN, i'VE SPENT A LITTLE BIT OF CASH ON aMP SIMS BUT i OFTEN GO BACK TO THE eMMISSARY AND lIBRA(soory just noticed caps was on but I ain't retyping) lol! Keep up the jams bro!
I loved this back in the day as well, but would be really great if you could make a video with that amp sim but with the IR's that we have available today.Like the Rainbows,or the Eminems, or evenh bypass the amp on let's say, Nolly Architype and just use the cab.
@@WillVRam Idk. As far as I know, the have blogspot site called lepouplugins.blogspot.com but it was removed. You can find the plugin on kvraudio or site like vstfree though.
I still have it and still really like it is great when using for just jamming when using DAW as a quick fix board. Maybe do some thing on the Nick Crow amps ?? Also you ever used the Red Skull vst distortion pedal. Man I love the sounds I can get with it. Turns a crap amp into a monster with tight thick distortion. It is coded like crap but when it works it is excellent. Great vid man \m/
I have an M1 Mac running Monterey and LePou456 works just fine. First thing is to make sure that your plugin is 64-bit, otherwise it won't work. 2nd if you're running it on Garageband/Logic, it has to be an AU file, otherwise it won't be read. If it says it's incompatible though, that means that you've cleared conditions 1 and 2. And your issue is that you're dealing with an Unsigned VSTs or Component (AU) and need to de-quarantine it for it to work on MacOS Monterey.
EQing out fizziness is like pushing a rope... would just be easier to not have fizziness because trying to get rid of it is extremely difficult without killing the energy of the guitar tone.
My two favorite amp sims are the TSE-X50 and this LE456 (granted all I use is freeware). I still remember your LE456 demo that featured a tone reminiscent of Nile ua-cam.com/video/Vamc1kofK4Y/v-deo.html If you care more about composing & guitar-ing than being in the sound-lab all day, the paradigm of "this is all that you *need*" applies. I even used the LE456 in a songwriting contest a while ago, but lacked skill with tight playing, IR-selection and editing to make the amp sim truly shine.
I read that the 32bit (at least Legion) do sound better! The Lepou plugins are odd. The Recto sounds more aggressive in 4x oversampling than in 8x. Shouldn't a powerball be tight enough to play it without TS?
Redcurrant is excellent; one of my go to s. Admittedly, I don't really know what I'm doing, but you can get some really evil sounds from it by cranking everything up.
Blasphemy, LE456 is love, LE456 is life, on a more serious note it's really usable, and, as one of my first amp sims I love it a lot, along with LeGion. also, how did you get that snare tone? it's really fukin good.
I wasn't sure myself, because I haven't looked at these in a long time. I'm quite surprised at how good it is and stacks up well against modern standards. Was definitely a gem of a plugin 2009, shame I didn't know what the hell I was doing back then, haha

Me too. I mostly use HyBrit fullstack with a JCM 900 IR.
Damn, this is exactly what I wanted to say! 😂

Alain Lepou was the king then, with this video, still the king of amp sim today

Lextac is a great clean sound still.
Great vid as always, Scott. I still love this amp. Also, I love seeing more BC Rich.
What can I say, they are my favorite :D

I use Archetype Nolly and disable the amp sim section and use LE456 instead. It sounds amazing with Nolly’s cabs IRs and FX

I just did all this. And mine sounds nothing like this tone ? How ? ?

Ah yes, the first decent tones I got, paired it back in the day with a marshall IR I had found for free for that Nile sound.
doing a whole track using only 09-2010 plugins, do it my man! would be awesome
Just got a new Mac with Monterey 12.3 installed and I cannot get the Le456 from Lepou to work. Says it's not compatible. Anyone have any suggestions?

Just some EQ! With programmed drums like this all you really need to do is EQ and run all the drums through a single bus compressor
@@ChernobylAudio666 Man that sounds so good, I wanted a "cracky" snare, deftones style, but only have SSD, what drum plugin is that?
my man,is a DIbox must be needed for recording?
Not if you have a good audio interface, even a Focusrite 2i2 3rd Gen should be fine.
