@@Biggus_Mickus I thought so as well but then I bought high end studio headphones an same issue. I'm hoping it's just a matter of pickups. my pc is well over the requirements for the software. so i'm not sure what sample rate and buffer rates I need to have things set to.
@@OnlysGamingChannel My headphones seemed to help as my speakers just aren't made for that heavy metal crunch. I also bought some EMG's and the sound is amazing!
With Emissary and NaLex's and Vadim Taranov's amps and cab sims, it's insane how far we've come in the last 10-20 years! These tones would've been unheard of back in those days, and now they're for free! What a time to be alive! Wish I was 15 years old again...
Imo its mostly the cab sims. Even old line6 model amps are not bad but their cab ir suck. Like Keyan mentioned cabs really do matter and I think they matter even more than the amp.
I've been a supporter of digital since I got my first POD in 1999. However, it was clear that while the ideas were great, the tones just weren't quite there back in that era. Even in the last 5 years, amp and cab simulation has come so far ahead from the Lepou days (which are still good BTW), but it's getting crazy good now. I can't remember the last time I used my real 5150, because I just load up Vadim Taranov's Heavy5150 sim and it sounds just as good, if not better in some cases. Matching the right IR to a specific sim will get the best results though, so the chain is not to be overlooked. I'm even getting decent tones out my old Zoom pedals, as they are great if used as preamps instead of just standalone units.
Okay, so I'll give you a couple little tips: -Airwindows Slew, a free VST plugin that filters the guitar DI in a tubescreamer-esque way that makes it really chuggy and midsy before the amp. -Cockos Reagate, the free Gate plugin from Reaper, is available for anyone as a VST, and it's a souped up hypercgarged gate plugin. It LOOKS like windows 98, but it operates like some black magic! Tip: after you're done recording, set the pre-open to 5ms and attack to 5ms to mske sure all transient pick attacks are let through with full punch. Don't record with that however, as it will introduce those ms as latency.
OMG, that intro demo is one of the sickest things I've ever heard, especially the fast muted section at the end! I need to firstly upgrade to a better computer and get some audio recording gear but I'm super keen to learn more about this stuff. That tone is definitely too good to be free!
Thanks! had no idea about he impedance curves, really boosts the sound of the IR's. Nice amp too, but after loading up my regular amp sims i was surprised to find I had the same tone dialed in already, maybe even a little better without that feedback, also using free amp sims that came with cakewalk. Also used a power amp vst though so maybe thats a difference, TPA-1 its called by ignite, you can change the tubes and lots of other things. The amp sims already have a power section built in but putting this one after the amp just makes it sound better. Changing the tubes also makes a difference, like KT88's for the extra thud, or the el34's extra high end clarity in cleans, you can actually hear the differences.
KRK Rokits (cheapest model), $99 mic, free/cheap plugins, improper acoustic treatment, production model guitar, non-standard DAW, bedroom... Better mix than some established bands. That's a mood.
I know right. Even if you need this live it would be easy to load up and a lot cheaper than the days of having to buy pedals and processors and less to carry around with you.

Great playing here, dude. There are so many great amp sims out there now, paid and free. And to me, they kinda ok sound the same. I’ve gone back to recording most everything with a real amp. Even my UA-cam and social clips...I’ve found a way to get a solid tone at a lower volume with my EVH 5150 III.
You don't know how happy I am that youtube finally led me to your channel: I was SO fuckin tired of the guys that just shout at their mics, acting for the camera in an attempt to impress viewers. You're calm and I mean it in a good way, just your natural personality in front of us. Also very helpful information for someone like me who is still learning the basics. Thank you.
dude you are hands down my favorite guitar youtuber, just cause I feel like I would connect very well with you personally and musically. and the way you teach and try to cover harder topics that are in depth and descriptive, and intelligent. love it brother. keep being bad ass mate. its gonna pay off for you big time. I guarantee it.
These are my fav kind of videos on youtube , thank you so much. people who teach how to make guitar tones with free plugins are music heroes these days. Also people have those playlists to mix certain style of music, i just found a guy that has a whole playlist just for mixing powermetal.. lesgooo , oh just subbed to your page now too.
Holy damn that sounds great! I JUST picked up my audio interface yesterday that I’ve been having a couple issues with, so I’m stoked to get everything straightened out so I can try this!!
I have found with nearly all desktop based sims....noise is absolute....I get around it by kranking the external hardware pre-amp...then turn down the software pre-amp....I usually set the amp gain to max and turn down the software input volume until I have the max amount of gain I would use....cleans up the entire signal...also usually balances the reactivness of the sim to a nice dynamic balance..
Really appreciate the impedance curves! I added them to my effects chain right between my Amped Roots sim and my other IRs and... they were the missing tonal piece I've been looking for.
Reminds me of mr. Walker a day in a storm album. If I remember correctly he used Hugh's and kehttner (sry not about to try any harder than that for the spelling) warp 7 plug-in.
Yeah, sounds good. The clean though is so under rated. I got the best tone from it today. Can't set the guitar down...even to this day, these free amp sims are still relevant.

as nice as it is to be 15 when this exists, I almost wish I'd been there to see it come into being over time

This is an interesting bit of info, Thanks!
i got excited by the fact that Ninja has a clean channel
Very handy
Emissary has one, too, though.
Nice video, thanks for that.
Dude, you have one the best tones in youtube actually
You should make a video on how to get a good clean tone to use with reverb and delay, you know like The Contorsionist - Language I type of tone
I’ll add it to the list
I so want this.
@@ayushtripathi1519 So get it.
YES PLS
I use the LePoulin LeXTAC vst, which is basically a Bogner. Compressor in front and a good ir, reverb, and delay in the back, and that should do it.
2:14 to skip to the demo.
I watched this and immediately downloaded this amp sim. I came back just to comment and like your video! Thank you for making this!
