Blake Emmons was a contestant on "The Joker's Wild" which was hosted by Bill Cullen after he replaced the original host Jack Barry who had passed away some months earlier. Both Bill Cullen and Blake Emmons had hosted "Chain Reaction".
Geoff Edwards hosted 75 episodes of the first season of Chain Reaction as aired on Global and USA. USA aired Geoff's episodes from 9/29/1986-1/9/1987 and Blake's episodes from 1/12/87-3/27/87, and in reruns that season aired on USA through 12/31/87. The second season with Geoff only hosting bowed on USA on 1/4/1988
That season premiere of St. Elsewhere, the fifth, aired on 9/24/1986 and is said to air "tonight", ergo this is from 9/24/1986 on Global. Global aired the Emmons episodes before the Edwards episodes, where it was the other way round on USA Network during the first season.
The original NBC Daytime version of "Chain Reaction" which was hosted by the dean of the game show host Bill Cullen which ran from Monday, January 14 to Friday, June 20, 1980 was the best version. That was when there were two teams of three. One regular contestant and two celebrity contestants.
You are correct because Geoff edwards was not Canadian they would have violated the can comm rules so to comply rod would come out to introduce contestants and do the mini chain they do at the end. The story I’ve read is Blake wanted the show to relocate to Los Angeles and Bob Stewart said no as it was cheaper to do the show in Montreal Canada and don’t know if Blake got fired or quit but I know this show wasn’t going to last more than 1-2 season with Blake compared to Geoff where it lasted until 1991
@@megamanj2004X I agree with ya, wasn't too keen on Dylan Lane, his version had some not so bright contestants, never cared for the Gambling Round where you can wager up to $500 a word, Dylan Lane would holler YOU'VE DOUBLED YOUR MONEY during the Bonus Game which was inconsiderate and most of all, when a team of ladies won Dylan Lane ranged the bell out of frustration and was shaking his head, that shows that he was not only frustrated, but he was probably asking himself "How the hell did I get this job?" @@tnawcwvictoria i cant recall a single occasion where dylan lane even smiled let alone be happy that the people won. the thing that irritated me the most about him was a split second before the buzzer that sounded when a contestant took too much time he would say what do you think [buzzer sounds] too bad NEXT

He was a country songwriter also.

Blake Emmons was horrific as host. Yikes!
He was sooo awkward.
As bad and obnoxious as Emmons was, at least he sounded like he wanted to be there unlike Dylan Lane in 2006.

I did, however, like Blake's sign-off line about how you should "put a smile on your face and start your own Chain Reaction".
