Dundon Motorsports 718 GT4 Street Headers

- Which iteration are we on now with the exhaust setup on the GT4? 3? 4? 27?!?!? I've lost count now between the combinations of stock, SOUL & Dundon. Dundon doesn't have a rear section for the GT4 yet, so I'm running the Dundon street headers with the SOUL rear section for now. And yes, I know I was calling the v-band clamp an accuseal.

Stay tuned for more crazy!
Careful Uncle Matty, it's starting to sound closer and closer to them burble tunes you rant about.
That sounds freakin incredible!
Dude your killing me with the self insults. You do a fantastic job for someone that wasn’t doing this their entire life like myself.
When is the exhaust coming for the Tesla? 👀
Sounds reminiscent of a LP640, in other words, amazing
that is a pretty apt description of how it sounds, man
That combo sounds absolutely killer!
I believe this Dundon setup is at its loudest with that soul muffler according to Aspen Autosports in NJ. But i think i’ll like it best when you switch the muffler back to the factory PSE. Can’t wait to hear the difference when you do that! THANKS.
I have Dundon with the Factory PSE and don't like it, cant wait to switch mufflers.
@@omartaylor5432 Agreed...it sounds a bit better in the really high rpms but needs a proper muffler section to bring the sound more in line to what you would expect from a Porsche. We need a muffler that mixes both cylinder banks with either PSE ON or OFF.
@@omartaylor5432 Pretty late to the party but I'm considering the Dundon headers. What don't you like about the PSE and did you end up doing a soul muffler or something else?
In Germany we say: Das ist Geil!
Not sure about this combo, honestly. I guess sonically it is a little too bright for my tastes. Maybe I would have a different take in person.
Scavenging has been a known technique for some time. It's actually the reason some people think a smaller exhaust makes a car faster from "back pressure" but back pressure is never good. The reason anyone loses low end power is not back pressure it's because scavenging is more effective at lower RPMs. At higher speeds you just want to get all that exhaust out.
I know this video is about the gt4 but the M3 looks so freaking good.
silence that weedwacker and just put some Dynaudio speakers under the car playing a recorded soundtrack of a v8 mustang or camaro exhaust.
Daily driver able? Lol. Sounds great. I'd like the extra power but also looking at options for a GTS 4.0 daily driver so this may be too loud.
The rasp is abysmal - sheesh! Sounds good at throttle blips but cruising and decel it's no bueno.
9500/yr in taxes is freggin a lot and then you said $28k/yr because of the new sale price sheesh. Big baller!
Based on listening to your preferences across a few videos I think you might find a sweetspot with stock muffler, Soul OAP and Soul catted headers
Does that require a tune?
I have the Dundon on my 718 Spyder with the Factory PSE rear muffler and the valves still working as intended. IMHO the valve controller is nearly essential. The opening and closing of the valves at various RPMs and loads is very sharp and abrupt. A valve controller would assist by allowing the car to "just be loud" when you want and " remain silent" or work like factory when you don't wish to make a ruckus. However, with the significant added volume from the Headers/OAP, the car goes from Loud to silent to LOUD!! Across the RPM band and its not cohesive at all.
Secondly, the factory muffler creates a really buzzy and dirty sound which most of the aftermarket mufflers seems to fix. I like JCR the best for a rear section and think that will be the magic bullet when combined with the Dundon set up. But.....$15k is A LOT to spend on some pipes...
The problem with JCR is that it will be too loud....waiting on Dundon's solution. Another option is the Cargraphic Racing X muffler. You need a proper muffler on these cars. Already tried racing headers with Soul resonated racing exhaust and I couldn't live with it. As for the PSE, BGB just flashed my ECU and they were able to modify the PSE to be open full time on PSE On and stock on PSE Off....
What exhaust combo did you end up with?
kinda sounds like a gt3rs to me on the fly-bys
Curious to hear Matt’s first impressions, have a feeling he’s going replace the rear muffler section soon.
Sounds sick. Looks bad ass as well.
That has to be droning like crazy in the cabin.
Can’t wait for a driving video. Sounds rad.
Is this sounds just from changing the headers?
My gosh... this sounds amazing!
What do you think about the BMW M3 Interlagos Blues - just like yours - sold for $29K, in CarsandBids ?
Freaking amazing. More flybys please!
House " rental " No children or pets ? lol
Man, I still prefer the older 981 Cayman sports exhaust, but the new 982 sounds great despite the new particle cats
I’m convinced you need about 5 million in assets before you buy this beast
That sounds about right.
Wow nice tone in the exhaust now. It is hard to not like that sound!!! How much hpw do you pick up with the Dundon headers and over-axle pipes w/200 cats???? I have heard from other companies that headers & over-axle pipe w/200 cats is ~~36-40 engine hpw increase. Rear exhaust is usually 5-7.
Sounds amazing!!!! Holly crap!
Sounds good Matt !
I have question I assume you need to do more testing but I’m currently looking for an exhaust for my gt4. What do you recommend for best sounding setup. I will be tracking it and some tracks have a sound limit. So I always look for your videos on best exhaust setup. What is your recommendation
Holy shit! Try connecting the valves its prob still bad ass. Hows the drone?
Hi Matt, as always, enjoy your videos and your willingness to explore the products and combinations that provide you what you want without settling. BTW...
“Lambda” is a unitized version of Air-Fuel Ratio based on the stoichiometric value for Air Fuel on a gasoline powered spark engine. So, if stoichiometric is 14.7:1 air fuel ratio, that is equal to Lambda = 1.0. So, when the car is “richer” than stoichiometric, Lambda will be less than 1.0 (example 0.92). When the car is running “leaner”, Lambda will be greater than 1.0 (like 1.05). This unitized value is easier to work with for automotive engine calibration engineers and is typically used in those settings and within the Motor ECU controls.
Matt please send your GT4 to Deman motorsport for the 4.5 upgrade it is only 32 grand.
Hey Matt. Unrelated question to the video but what garage doors were you planning on for the new house. GT4 sounds great by the way
I found the valves open too much. OAP delete and regular open valve operation is perfect.
28:22 I had to pause the video for laughing too much. I know the feeling and i have exactly same thoughts of myself when i drop something while trying to align pieces together.
The old man's club HOA is already drafting a letter. LOL LOL.
Lol Matt we should not be removing the cats from the car. I mean you can’t get mad at that.
Matt. You may just settle for a valve disconnected rear section or an over axle pipe only. BUT, I never saw such a large smile on you (visible only by your shaded facial silhouette ) when you just drove the Dundon Header and overaxle high flow Cat adapted to the soul performance rear. My 718 Spyder has your set up except for the rear. I have Dundon's latest rear section 'cracked pretzel' inconel magaphone. Not much difference in sound (Soul Rear v. Dundon rear) from what I hear on this video.
I have Dundon headers/OAPs. Love it, but want a bit 'more' and hate the valves closed/flying open. REALLY want Crack Pretzel everyone, including Dundon, says it is insanely loud. So, I have been scared away. I am a daily spirited driver; not a tracker. Could you please tell me your thoughts on Crack Pretzel in terms of daily living? Thank you
40:38 I think everybody knows the feeling of getting stuck behind a Corolla
Is it not too loud? It kinda sounds like I’d regret this in a few weeks after realizing I can never accelerate hard unless I’m in the middle of nowhere. Also, you probably can’t track this car at a bunch of racetracks, which really sucks.
With the stock muffler it’s super nice in the cabin cruising around....
Sounds amazing but think it's a bit too loud for my liking...wonder what valve off would sound like with PSE
They exhaust button does nothing for these cars. All it does is open and close the valves at idle. As soon as you drive off the valve function the same with button on or off.
Thought Matt didn't like "that burble crap"?
Matt you’re going to hate me but I owe you a debt on the Tesla rims so I just sent you some zebra cakes !
Sounds absolutely amazing. How does the power/torque feel? Better?
Too loud for my taste, then again I'm an old man.
"Everything German is better." Makes you wonder how we ever beat them in the big one. But, I agree.
Aller guten Dinge sind drei! Just joking, greetings from Germany.
Best sounding Porsche yet Matt. Leave it alone...
Can we borrow one of your Porsches ? At the house
Wow that sounds like a race car
Sounds amazing 👏👏👏🙌
Wow! Super smooth!!!
Hey Matt, obviously hard to tell on UA-cam definitely sounds the best so far but you’ll have to tell us about the drone and the rest of it. No blood hand that’s a good day.
Yoooo wow. On video sounds awesome
Ooofffff that’s pretty
Sounds healthy Matt
Sounds on point .....congrats 👊
Sounds incredible Matt!
These are the og videos i love!
JFC I love it
“New video, live from Matt’s house of exhaust parts! We got all kinds of exhausts down here! Cats, no cats, headers, back boxes, come on down, for ALL your Porsche exhaust needs!!!”
(Is it just me?) 😃
Is it just me or does it sound a little tinny?
Takes me back to my Honda days lol
Sounds amazing Matt!
Beast!
Sounds bad ass !
Been waiting for this
Helen GA is cool
Sounds amazing
Sounds sick!!!
Sounds amazing
Sounds awesome!
Sounds good
Perfect
👍
Ohhhhhhh boyyyyyyyy!!
Under load it'll sound better
Hey Matt, I would love to see you checking out the Cargraphic X-Pipe & Axle-pipe & headers. You might be missing the best set up out there imho! That's what Porsche sound is about.
I feel like Matt isn’t going to stick with this one. Sounds too much like a V6 Camaro or mustang lol
Matt if you want the best exhaust for this car and sounds clean with no drone, yet high pitch F1 sound - Kline innovation inconel full exhaust. I have it and it is by far the best in my opinion.
As a guy with big hands also, it always pays to have a "Baby Hands Bryce" kind of guy hanging around for some jobs, for sure....lol
I like how the setup sounds, at least off the cuff. Will be curious to see down the line as you have more time with it if it comes off droney or anything of that ilk.
Carbon ceramics about to get chipped soon 😮
