    I wonder when a Coros Pace 3 will come out. It’s been an impressive $200 watch for a while now. We should start reviewing Rolex watches. 🤔 Super impressive that both of these do triathlon. Great video as always!!!

    Great job, Dave. The only comparison I think you forgot is firmware updates vs forced obsolescence. I’ve had my Coros 2 for 18 months and they keep dropping serious updates. Where Polar just drops you. They release new hardware (see Ignite 2) as opposed to giving their customers a firmware upgrade. I know you’ve commented on this before.
    Des Fit shared the trick of selecting workout (but not starting it) and letting the watch HRM warm up for a minute or two, and it’s helped immensely with my Pace2 and my bike ride to work. It use to be 50-80 bpm off, but now it stays pretty locked in. Jacking it up my forearm a bit seems to also help.
    Also Dave you seem to be rocking the same Pace 2 watch faces from 2020 but Coros has added a bunch more that look much better IMO.

    • @ChaseTheSummit
      @ChaseTheSummit  2 роки тому +7

      For sure, COROS has set a new standard with Firmware updates and I certainly give them kudos for that. I will say that I have spoken to Polar reps and they have heard the firmware complaints and are trying to do better (as seen with recent firmware for Grit X). I'm hoping they see the light and keep pushing simple updates to older devices.
      The OHR warm up trick is a good one! Yes, the new watch faces are fun from COROS but I'm a simple man lol.

    I got the Coros Pace 2 recently, happy with it so far, even got it at a good discount. So far so good. I have used it in 12 workouts, 18 hours and the battery is still 45%. Quite incredible battery life. I did however disable all notifications both from phone and in watch, and vibrations. Those things probably would eat a little more battery.

    I'd always go with Coros here, because they are lightyears ahead when it comes to adding and improving features (across their whole lineup!).
    Polar's product support is virtually nonexistent at this point. I have a Vantage V2 (in a drawer, because I switched to Garmin) and I have the feeling that it won't see another "big" update ever again. They'll probably release the V3 instead.

    Great review & comparison, in depth with all features covered!
    A couple of years ago I bough a second hand M430 for about €40, and I still use it, together with an H10 strap.
    For me it is still a great combo and it made me fall in love with Polar, so I am completely biased on this one.
    Last year I promised myself to get a new watch when I completed my first trail marathon. That would have been a Polar V2. But since the release of the Pacer, I was pretty certain that I would opt for that. It's half the money!
    When I saw your Pacer vs Pacer Pro review, I thought that the Pacer would be more than enough, but since you are quite positive about the extra features (that the Coros has too), I think the final decision will be the Pacer Pro. My marathon is scheduled for November 2nd, so maybe I can strike a Black Friday deal!
    Anyways, thanks for the great reviews, they make deciding alot easier.

      Correct, out of the box the Pace 2 only takes a heart rate reading every 10 minutes to preserve battery life. It does this mainly because the "all day heart rate" readings don't mean much in the grand scheme of the COROS ecosystem other than to create a pretty graph in the app. However, if you start an activity it switches over to 1 second intervals or "real time". You can also enable "real time" all day HR in the settings but it will take a hit in battery life.
      The Polar on the other hand only does "real time" heart rate readings, or you can enable "sleep only mode" to preserve battery life which will do real time readings at night but turn off during the day. I wish there were a setting to sample every 10 minutes like on the COROS!
      Hope that helps!

    I am polar M430 user wanted to switch....can anybody suggest polar pacer pro vs coros apex pro...

    • @ChaseTheSummit
      @ChaseTheSummit  Рік тому

      Pacer Pro is a bit newer so theoretically it will be supported longer. Apex Pro has wayyyyy longer standby battery life and also has full basemap navigation so you have some context for seeing whats around you.

    Has Coros added trail running profile to the Pace 2? If they havent, does that even matter? I mean can you just edit a profile to get the data fields you want to see (like altitude)??

    • @ChaseTheSummit
      @ChaseTheSummit  2 роки тому +1

      They have not. It doesn't really matter unless you care that all of your activities say "trail run" on strava. I also suspect that using "run" on trail runs or hikes might result in messed up EvoLabs training data but I could be wrong. You can of course just edit your activities after the fact to be correct.

    Washed our blue backlighting drives me crazy! Polar is the only one that has a true dark contrast. COROS and Garmin have terrible backlighting blue hue. I’ve dabbled with lots of watches, and I’m firmly in the Polar camp now. Not to mention Polar having the most incredible sleep tracking.

      With Garmin it's really dependent on the model. The cheaper options like the Forerunner 55 tend to be washed up but the Forerunner 945 has one of the best displays on any watch I've tested. The new Fenix 7 is also quite good as well. Thanks for watching!

      At that price point I'd go for the Pace 2 for a sports watch, or an Apple Watch SE if you don't need super long battery life.

    Picking between Pace 2 or instinct 2 solar, which should i choose? :)

      They're pretty different. If you're using for primarily running I'd go Pace 2 and save some money. The Instinct 2 Solar is an awesome watch but it's more of an outdoor/hiking/trekking device. Both will fit the bill though!
