I was lucky enough to be part of the field testing group for this. This is easily the best watch for the price…and 100% competes with a lot of more expensive watches. It’s so accurate and comfortable to wear, don’t even notice it. I’ve also been really impressed with the attention to every little detail by the Coros team
How does it measure heart rate throughout the day, I heard somewhere it does this at something like 10 minute intervals outside of activities? Is this true and can it be set to measure at higher intervals like every minute for example when sleeping? I'm thinking about things like sleep apnea, 10 minute interval might not be enough to notice some spikes.
Trail Running! Finally! Music it a nice addition as well. I've had a Pace 2 for over a year now and I really can't complain. I don't NEED to upgrade but I can see myself getting the Pace 3 sooner than later.

Apex 2 does have the updated chipset with "All Systems" and is similar in terms of accuracy in that setting... But yeah no dual frequency. To be fair, Dual Frequency is overkill for most situations unless you're in a city with tall buildings around you or in a slot canyon.

I have the Coros Pace 2 and no Heartbeat measuring while swimming. Hoped this works with Pace 3. Garmin FR 955 is no problem with it. Also no ANT+ anymore is a no-buy for me for the 3 because I cannot connect to my rowing device (concept2) anymore. I will go with the FR965. This review helped me a lot to see this. Thx!
Looks like a solid upgrade. I've still got my old Coros pace 2, it was my first proper running watch, although my main daily driver is now a Garmin Epix Gen 2. Overall I prefer Garmin's multi-sport ecosystem, though Evolabs is improving all time, and I think if you just want to stick to running, in some ways it is superior to Garmin's. Another thing I've found was the optical heart season on the pace 2 was rock solid for me where as on Epix it is terrible especially during intervals. The only retrograde step here is the removal of Ant+ sensor support. The great advantage of Ant+ is once you connect a device using Ant+ it stays connected.
It looks like that there is no need in ANT+ after Bluetooth was updated to ver 5. The main difference between ANT+ and Bluetooth used to be the ability to connect to several devices (sensors) simultaneously, but now Bluetooth can do it too.
Great review. I'm totally agree with you, this is a very good watch, maybe best option in this price. I'm big Coros fan, but as you mention even old Garmin has more wellness option, body battery etc.
My apple watch SE2 screen splits from its body yesterday after just 13 months of use. I just ordered this Pace 3 at RM890 (about USD189). My first watch was the Garmin Vivoactive 3 music, the the Apple and then this... I don't find any Garmin at the same price with the same feature.
Mother - apex2, father - pace 1, result - pace 3, and brother in law - pace 2. From my POV to pace series added more fancy features, to cover more requests from amateur auditory. Also now to me looks that with current hw it's possible even add mapping (same memory with Apex pro & vertix1). Waiting for update with touch enabling in stand-by mode for apex pro (if it will come).
I love the Polar App, and I guess some people love the Garmin tech, but you'd really have to love it a lot not to get the pace 3. How many people couldn't everything they need from it? I do like that they've added some sports modes from high end watches, it's somethink that I like polar for and Garmin stinks at.
Great review. Bye Bye Apple Watch. I use my Apple more as a fitness tracker and the battery life is just silly. I hiked for 15 hours yesterday and had to charge twice on my breaks. Looking forward to the advanced features and battery life of the Pace 3.
Speaking as one who doesn't run, as doesn't hike very much, this still looks like a good choice in terms of bang for the buck. I'm intrigued by the dual GPS, route specification, and bread crumb capabilities. When I drive out into an unfamiliar area and lose all map/nav coverage on my phone, I'm thinking careful use of the watch might fill in that gap.
Why would you ever lose coverage on your phone? GPS doesn't need a cell signal and you can download offline maps for the whole country in many apps on a phone.
Such a feature with that price point is a great luring to its buyers. However it would have been great if Coros introduce trade in like feature at near future.
So I’m coming to this waaaay after the fact. I currently have a FR945 LTE that is now three years old. It’s done well, but I realize now that it was probably overkill for my needs. Would the Pace 3 be a worthy successor? Would probably want the Pod 2 as well for workout days to help reduce lag from pace changes. At the very least, it would give me insight into the Coros ecosystem for a low price.
Heey Chase, love your videos! Can this track Strength workouts and give recovery feedback while also tracking walking, biking and yoga and have battery that will last a week to two weeks? Also, if not do you have a suggestion? I want to put it on and leave it on as long as possible so it could look nice like this, I'll defer to your judgment!
Maybe an unanswerable question, but … since I’m working on a tight budget and don’t have the cabbage to buy a new watch annually, which is more likely to last me 3+ years: Garmin 255 or COROS pace 3? I like them both, and the prices right now are pretty close. Thanks, and as always, love your channel!
@@ChaseTheSummit thanks, it’s roughly the same price for me as the 255 is heavily discounted and slightly more expensive than the pace 3 at MSRP, even on reddit got quite a few people asking about the fr255 vs p3, looking forward to your video
Thank you for the awesome and balanced review! I am looking for a no-frills running watch and the Pace 3 seems to tick all the boxes. Waiting for mine to arrive :) Also considered the FR255 but I don't really need the music or lifestyle frills, plus it does cost a bit more. Question: how's the readability like on the Pace 3? It does look rather dim in the vid.
Sad that the white pace 3 now has black bezel instead of white. It looks like just another watch. But cannot fault the functions provided. Pretty much covered all the needs for a running enthusiast.
the price increase is definitely justified. Definite upgrades: sp02 - for hiking at altitude and such, this is very useful. music - great as a backup. any other upgrades like wifi, better gps ...etc are gravy. Very close to being the perfect watch for me. Would have been nice if the straps were compatible with pace 2.
Thank for review I am on market to upgrade my Pace 2 and apex 2 is the top list. With Pace 3 just released, do you still recommend Apex 2 over Pace 3? Case material is not my concern and I am mainly using for running, trail running and walk.
If it had the most basic smart watch function of answering and placing a call then I'd definitely get it. They can keep packing in features all they want but if it cannot initiate a call then it's always going to miss the mark.
I can't see Garmin selling the Forerunner 265 for 470 Euro any longer. That watch is way overpriced, despite the nice display. Hopefully Garmin reacts in some way. The Forerunner 55 is still using Garmins old and much more inaccurate sleep tracker. Also, it lacks a LOT of sports profiles, like strength training. It's not a real competitor to the Pace 3. The Pace 3 seems more on par in terms of features with the Forerunner 255, which costs more and lacks a touchscreen (for whoever likes it).
Have you decided? I'm also choosing between these two. Pace 3 seems the better deal (touchscreen, dual band gps). However gps900 seems better build quality.
Ok, so I can get a Place 3 for the same price as a Fenix 6. I am not a hard-core athlete, but I do like the looks of the Fenix. heart rate and GPS accuracy are kind of important to me, but not dealbreakers. Just not sure if the old technology that probably will not be supported much longer would be worth it versus the new technology. I have some history in the Garmin ecosystem, but I can always change. I know it’s a tough question, but help?
Hey! Thanks so much! can you please do a comparison between the Forerunner 165 and the Coros Pace 3? I had already decided to buy a Coros 3 mainly because of the price difference with the Forerunner 265, but I'm guessing the 165 changes the game a little bit. I've heard some contradictory opinions on the Coros Pace 3.
Once you had Amoled you can't go back to PIP. I will stick to my Cheetah Round, same price, lower accuracy (mostly in elevation). My eyes are not getting better and with Pace 2 I was struggling to read anything on that screen during workouts. Another downsize would be the focus Coros puts into running metrics neglecting Cycling, Swimming and other sports.
In some ways I agree but I also like transflective displays when running or hiking because it's always on and I can see things easier at a glance. The OLED is much nicer for every day casual use though.
same with me...I am 58 and can only recognize activities by the icons on the watch. I am also a triathlet and don't see swimming and cycling will be taken into account of fitness = useless. I had a look on Garmin 965 and this was great for me as I was able to read everything so much clearer :-).
Personally I don’t see the point of the music storage if it can’t sync with streaming services. They could have reduced the memory and focused on even more running features instead or included ANT sensor support
Thanks for detailed review. Im wondering why Coros decided to drop ANT+ for Wifi. Does user can upload mp3s via wireless ? cant think other useful wifi usage as you wont be downloading fw too frequently anyway, and updating gps files just takes seconds using the BT+app. Or this is for 'future' implementation: emergency alarm/SOS trigger and live tracking, etc🤔
Thank You for review! It's my favorite YT chanell. I'm new Coros Pace 3 owner... Is it possible to turn off backlight during (night) activity? Night mode is set to OFF on my watch but there is still backlight during Run/Trail Run activity at night. I would like to turn on backlight only on wrist raise (gesture)...
Hey Dave! Love the reviews! I’m still using my Garmin 945 and worried battery and accuracy may be weakening? If I upgrade I’m think 265 or 955. I don’t use mapping… 1. Do I really need an updated watch after 3 years or is the 265 a big upgrade? Thanks!!
945 is still a great watch. The sad reality about all smartwatches is battery degradation after 2-3 years. You'll likely see a 5-10% drop in performance and it will get worse as time goes on. I wouldn't worry about it too much unless it's drastically different. Upgrading is a personal choice... I can't make that for you but 3-5 years seems average.
I started to look at some watches, there is so many options right now, wanted some under 250/300€, want one to use while cycling (mostly Hear rate and keep track of fitness) and that has also good day to day track of my body like sleep, stress and so on, what do you think is the best option?
I have a question. I like to listen to music while I run. Can the Coros Pace 3 send my android cell phone alarm prompts while interval training? Or is the watch loud enough where I will hear it anyway? Mind you I would like it to come through my headset not to interrupt others at the track. Thanks!
Hi, I just bought a coros pace 3, is there a faster way to stop a run instead of pressing the crown to pause it then scrolling down to select 'finish'? I dont think thats a practical way to stop it when youre trying to chase PB, thanks
Unfortunately no, there's no music control function on any of the COROS watches including Pace 3. It's more of a simple MP3 player built into the watch without a phone integration.
Great review! The Pace 3 looks like a good watch. I’ve been looking at the Suunto 9 peak since they reduced the price. Out of the two, which do you recommend?
They're pretty different. The 9 Peak is built much nicer and has some more advanced features when it comes to navigation. The Pace 3 likely has better GPS and HR accuracy and I personally like the app experience a bit more. Both are nice, if you want a "tank" of a watch the 9P is probably the way to go.
Hello Dave! I'm reaching out from Greece, currently deliberating between the Coros Pace 3 and the Garmin Forerunner 255. Could you provide insights into their heart rate accuracy, helping me decide which one would be a better choice?
Both are great options. I'd say the 255 has more wellness tools like body battery and more advanced sleep/recovery tracking. The Pace 3 has better battery life and I'd say feels a bit more "utilitarian" and simpler to use. If you like gadgets and extra's go for Garmin. If you just want a simple tool to track runs and workouts go COROS.
For hiking and biking, in your opinion what is better Pace 3 or Suunto 9 Peak Pro? I know this is not direct competition. Can't I use the navigation in Pace 3 during biking?
Can you customize that main screen that shows the time etc.? Love this watch but it has too much going on on that main watch face screen. Thats a dealbreaker for me. Please advise thx!

@@maxfreeman6343Thats cool, i didn’t know that. So Pod2 and earbuds will work together. I was curious about that.
Just got the APEX2 Pro, based on your reviews
Thank you for the presentation, it was useful.
Great review. Bye Bye Apple Watch. I use my Apple more as a fitness tracker and the battery life is just silly. I hiked for 15 hours yesterday and had to charge twice on my breaks. Looking forward to the advanced features and battery life of the Pace 3.
I got Coros Pace 3 and Polar Pacer Pro priced exactly the same right now. Still undecided which to pick.
Nice review, nice watch, thank you so much.
Such a feature with that price point is a great luring to its buyers. However it would have been great if Coros introduce trade in like feature at near future.
This looks awesome. I do not have any sort of activity watch, so I am very much considering this. Wanted a Garmin 255/265, but the cost is tough.
In the europe the 255 goes for around €200 if it's for sale. It looks better for multisport, on physical durability.
Coros is Making it so hard to say NO! Definitely keeping my eye on this brand. But for now I'm sticking with my Garmin Fenix 6.
I would disagree. I’m a pace 2 user and definitely jumping back to garmin. This pace 3 is a no go as it’s dropped support for ant+
@@ImApringle That is a good point. I like the access to external monitors and sensors ANT+ provides.
@@jonathanpeck61 what are the external sensors you are looking to connect, that are ANT+ only but not Bluetooth enabled?
@@LewisWu_ Older Garmin sensors. Running pod
Great video! I just liked & subscribed.
Maybe an unanswerable question, but …
since I’m working on a tight budget and don’t have the cabbage to buy a new watch annually, which is more likely to last me 3+ years: Garmin 255 or COROS pace 3?
I like them both, and the prices right now are pretty close. Thanks, and as always, love your channel!
I wish you compare the pace 3 to the FR255
Stay tuned!
@@ChaseTheSummit thanks, it’s roughly the same price for me as the 255 is heavily discounted and slightly more expensive than the pace 3 at MSRP, even on reddit got quite a few people asking about the fr255 vs p3, looking forward to your video
I prefer the newer style Velcro strap. Its has a cleaner, more wrist hugging profile without the bulky plastic attachment pieces the old nylon has.
The strap is different as well, pace 3 22mm, pace 2 20mm, it's an improvement to me, bigger band looks nicer on wrist IMO
Sad that the white pace 3 now has black bezel instead of white. It looks like just another watch. But cannot fault the functions provided. Pretty much covered all the needs for a running enthusiast.
the price increase is definitely justified. Definite upgrades:
sp02 - for hiking at altitude and such, this is very useful.
music - great as a backup.
any other upgrades like wifi, better gps ...etc are gravy.
Very close to being the perfect watch for me. Would have been nice if the straps were compatible with pace 2.
Solid review!
Thank for review
I am on market to upgrade my Pace 2 and apex 2 is the top list. With Pace 3 just released, do you still recommend Apex 2 over Pace 3? Case material is not my concern and I am mainly using for running, trail running and walk.
Thanks for the review. Sadly 42mm is way too small for my wrists.
I kinda feel the same way. I wish they made a "Pace 3 Ultra" or something with a bigger battery, display, and case in a 45-46mm form factor.
I just switched from the original Apex to the Pace 3. So many great features on this one.
Finally! Havent watched whole thing, but can touch screen function be turnd off?
Yep, it can be turned off if you don't want to use it. It's turned off by default when you're in an activity.
If it had the most basic smart watch function of answering and placing a call then I'd definitely get it. They can keep packing in features all they want but if it cannot initiate a call then it's always going to miss the mark.
COROS tends to focus on the sports/fitness side of things but I bet they'll continue adding some of the smart features as time goes on.
13:42 looks like a call of nature
I'm going to buy it but it's going to take a while to get on sale in my country
Would be nice to have a comparison for Coros pace 3 VS Amazfit GTR 4 & Huaweri GT 3 SE for instance
It would be interesting to see a comparison between COROS PACE 3 vs Amazfit Balance
They're VERY different.
Not having Spotify is such a deal breaker for me. It’s annoying to look at your phone and pull it out constantly just to change music
265 🥇Amoled one.
I'm looking forward to your video about the Venu 3. But I also like funny content if you want to make a video about the Galaxy Watch 6.
Unfortunately I wasn’t included on the prerelease testing on that but I’ll have a review soon! Galaxy Watch 6… that’s a different story 😬
Thanks for the amazing review. I'm deciding between the corps pace 3 and coros GPS 900. Which one would be a better choice?
Video coming soon!
@@ChaseTheSummitAwesome! thanks for the response too!
Let's watch this!
Personally I don’t see the point of the music storage if it can’t sync with streaming services. They could have reduced the memory and focused on even more running features instead or included ANT sensor support
I'm in the same boat. I need spotify or Apple but there's still an audience for MP3 support and it's pretty easy with podcasts.
Wi-Fi allows you to automatically download software upgrades, in the future it could support music streaming as well
Thank You for review!
Great review as usual. Does the Pace 3 have a barometric altimeter? I saw it says BARO at the back.
Indeed it does as did the Pace 2
Great review as usual. For a marathon runner would you go for Pace 3 or Forerunner 265? Thank you.
Oof tough one. I guess it would boil down to the budget. If money wasn’t a thing I’d take the 265 if it was? The pace 3. 🤷♂️
I have been using Garmin for years but Coros sounds super interesting for me. I don't have a budget though.@@ChaseTheSummit
Hey Dave!
Love the reviews!
I’m still using my Garmin 945 and worried battery and accuracy may be weakening?
If I upgrade I’m think 265 or 955. I don’t use mapping…
Why on earth would you remove ANT+!? Crazy
Do you know if/when Apex 3 is coming out? Looks like Apex 2 has very little over Pace 2, just TBT nav and metal aesthetics.
Would you recommend this over the Forerunner 255 music which is about $40 more?
Where are you finding a 255 music for 270? I’m seeing them at 400.
For music, you can only download mp3 for when you dont have your phone. But if you do have your phone, can the Pace 3 control music functions?
@@ChaseTheSummit thanks I appreciate the advice.
I’ve also been thinking about the Garmin 945. It’s a little more than the Suunto but would it be a better choice than the Suunto or the pace 3?
@@ChaseTheSummit Thank you very much, Dave.
For hiking and biking, in your opinion what is better Pace 3 or Suunto 9 Peak Pro? I know this is not direct competition. Can't I use the navigation in Pace 3 during biking?
What about the pace lag?
I never understood the benefit of wifi on a watch. Seems like connecting to my phone via bluetooth is all I'll ever need.
Can you customize that main screen that shows the time etc.? Love this watch but it has too much going on on that main watch face screen. Thats a dealbreaker for me. Please advise thx!
I have an apple watch 8 I use with the stryd foot pod and app (not tied to stryd), because I like it better than the apple workout app for running. Was a garmin user, but wanted a nicer screen so went to AW 8. But, I am a little over screen and prices. Your video made me question if my next watch should be a Pace 3, but unsure about switching between ecosystems. Thoughts on switching from Apple to Coros, or stryd really to Coros? Anyone's thoughts are helpful.
