@@kevinmcgiffin10I grew up watching the show with my family, and I think all of us that did are very fortunate. Comedy is very subjective and is also dependent on context. Not just in the immediate, but the culture and the times that people live in. Compared to today, the seventies were a more innocent time and there was a place for this kind of humor. However and quite unfortunately, we live in a much different world today. As a result, humor, which to a large degree exists as a form of relief from stressful circumstances, has also changed dramatically and there is very little place for this more innocent form of comedy.
Sorry but that's not even remotely true. I grew up watching the Carol Burnett show and Mama's Family and I always hit up UA-cam every few months to watch cast bust ups during some of the funniest sketches to ever hit television audiences and I know a ton of people my age and younger who do the same. Gene Wilder, Tim Conway and Harvey Korman were Gods of sketch comedy and comedic timing and you can plainly see their influence in shows like Madtv and SNL and they are terribly missed by millions even in this age of Netflix "comedy" specials and social media content creators. Also can't forget about the absolute legends who are still with us in Carol, Vicki, Mel Brooks and Dick Van Dyke.
From the start of Tim's elephant story to Mama's grumpy "..figure that little asshole's through?" is certainly falling-off-the-seat comedy's best of all times!
One of the greatest 5 minutes in history of TV. I have watched this 1,000 times and I laugh each time. Conway starts talking the dwarf & his elephant lover. Carol is like OMG! He's doing it again! VanDyke is trashed from the start. So they struggle reset. Then off he goes again w/ the Siamese elephant stuff, Carol his toast, Van Dyke is trashed. I could be dying of cancer and I still laugh!
Tim Conway could destroy an audience -- not to mention everybody in the crew -- just by a raised eyebrow at the right time. Pure genius, never to be replicated.
Tim was one of the greats, but if u want to see him in his prime watch the movie "the apple dumpling gang" he starred along don Knott's and both of them together..iconic
One of the funniest sketches ever! 2nd favorite "went with the wind" when Carol comes out wearing the curtain rod! Then there's Tim and Harvey's dentist sketch when Tim gives himself novicane 3x! Havent laughed so hard since show went off the air!
Went with the Wind was CLASSIC! I also love "No Frills Airline," "Rancid Harvest," "Putrified Forest" and "Rebecky." The shows were funny and pure class, no vulgarity.
“I saw it in the window and I just couldn’t resist” ties with Tim’s “gnsnorky” for best lines ever! 😂 🤣 God, when cracked each other up it was just pure heaven for me. How I loved that show! They should remaster the whole thing and replay it all!

She almost loses it a couple times in this one. You can see her clutching her hands and knees trying to force composure. Which she does quite quickly but still he almost had her too. But to turn all that tension he had built up back in his face like she did.. that was next level and you can tell Tim loved every second.
First saw this about 40 years ago while still living in Saudi Arabia. I still remember laughing so hard that I actually broke into a sweat AND fell off the couch as well. Will never, ever forget it.

I love the way Conway paced his narrative. He was watching to see Carol recover and start to ask her question of Momma when he would hit her with the next line forcing her to stop again. People will still be laughing at this 50 years from now, a fitting tribute to Tim Conway and the cast of the show.

One of the funniest skits ever. Four people sitting on a couch. Pure talent.
You and me both. I don't know why. I know what's coming and yet, I laugh like it's the first time I've heard it, to tears
Mr Tudball and Mrs Wiggins, so freaking hilarious
One of the funniest sketches ever! 2nd favorite "went with the wind" when Carol comes out wearing the curtain rod! Then there's Tim and Harvey's dentist sketch when Tim gives himself novicane 3x! Havent laughed so hard since show went off the air!
Yes, a great one -😂- which Mr Bean re-created years later. Good comedy lasts forever. 👍 (Novocaine)
My all time never forget sketch is the dentist...OMG I can still see it!!!!
Great story to hear. Carol had so many funny skits. That one is definitely in my top 5 list as number one. RIP Tim Conway you made all of us laugh so hard. From a Canadian fan 🙏🕊🇨🇦❤️🇺🇸
I will always admire Vicky's ability to hold a straight face when all around her is chaos.
She almost loses it a couple times in this one. You can see her clutching her hands and knees trying to force composure. Which she does quite quickly but still he almost had her too. But to turn all that tension he had built up back in his face like she did.. that was next level and you can tell Tim loved every second.
Every time he makes that elephant noise, I lose it! I LOVED the Carol Burnette Show!
First saw this about 40 years ago while still living in Saudi Arabia. I still remember laughing so hard that I actually broke into a sweat AND fell off the couch as well. Will never, ever forget it.
OMG, I have always, always wondered what was going on with that sketch and if Tim was just off in his own little world of ad lib. Love the "notes" of just "good luck." Thank you a million times for posting this fabulous explanation. Yep, priceless.
I love the way Conway paced his narrative. He was watching to see Carol recover and start to ask her question of Momma when he would hit her with the next line forcing her to stop again. I remember seeing this on TV as a child and it is still one of the funniest stories ever shown on television. People will still be laughing at this 50 years from now, a fitting tribute to Tim Conway and the cast of the show.
Harvey Korman said that all Tim Conway had to do was look at him and he’d break down. You can see it if you watch the show. I’m in awe of Vickie Lawrence keeping a straight face. Amazing. I’m so glad these bloopers were archived!
I must have seen “The Elephant Story” 50 times over the years and EVERY TIME it just about kills me laughing!
nothing can top the dentist and novocaine sketch...nothing!!!! Tim was even funny in person, I knew him.
This series equals the best of the funny people of legend. May they never fade.
Tim is so straight faced through all his sketches. The fact he can be so funny and look so serious is what made him so funny. Just glad they were able to get him in this sketch.
One of the truly great moments in TV history. It never gets old.
The best part is how Tim never breaks when everyone else is, he just keeps on waiting, in character, ready to drop the next slice...
Literally one of the funniest things I have ever seen on television!!!
My faves were the elephant story, the dentist and the gone with the wind one. When Carol wore the curtsin dress...and her line...makes me laugh to this day!
This show *literally* had you cracking up every single week!! *HILARIOUS!!!*
This sketch along with the dentist skit were 2 of the best ever in television history along with the Johnny Carson and Ed Ames tomahawk bit.
I don’t know how Vicki kept it together. I’ve seen this video so many times and I still laugh so much that I have tears rolling down my face.
Best blooper ever!!❤
Watch Vicki closely. The dress rehearsal she has her head down. The second time through, as soon as Carol looks at her, she has to turn her head away. 😅😅
@@SimonQX thank you. I wasn’t always looking at the screen. I’m going to watch again
@@SimonQX I really wasn’t paying attention I guess. I didn’t realize there was a rehearsal then the one I’ve always seen. Thank you. I guess my attention span is going away just like my youth did behind my back 😆
I think what saves Vicki this time, is that Mama is supposed to have a scowl and a pursed lip. It probably made it easier for her to keep her straight (ish) face.
Absolute comedic GOLD !! We went to see Vicki/Mama last month in North Tonawanda, NY. She is STILL a comedy treasure !! We thoroughly enjoyed the show. Had it been twice or three times as long, we would have GLADLY drunk in the talent and comedy ! Vicki and Carol were an iconic TEAM.
Priceless. I can only imagine what would have happened if Harvey had still been on the show.
If that was him instead of Dick Van Dyke, Harvey would have wet his pants again.
Harvey would have bern howling laughing so hard
That look on Carol Burnett’s face at 1:06 says more than words ever could 🤣🤣
This is wonderful. Tim was known for this superb improvisational stuff, so I think he collapsed because he thought he was the one in control of the situation, and when Vicky reacted perfectly in character with a perfect putdown, it iced his comedy cake! :-)
Watching Tims face as he timed this joke is incredible. He had trouble staying in character which was very rare.
I watched this sketch on TV, live. and was crippled with laughter. EVERY time I see it again, I double-up with convulsive laughter. EVERY TIME. Got to be one of the funniest skits ever recorded.
“If anyone remembers that sketch…”. Oh, Vicky, that sketch was UNFORGETTABLE! And every new generation that discovers it holds it as the funniest moment on television 😂😂😂
The dentist sketch is my next favorite , Tim had Harvey so flustered it was funny as heck
Tim was an ADLIB Genius, how they kept straight faces the whole time was hilarious.
this sketch is definitely worth watching over and over again. Tim Conway was definitely a master comedian.
this is my favorite Tim Conway so funny. and its so funny how the others try so hard not to get out of character.
All these years later (after seeing the original air) still funniest thing I ever saw. Being able to cap that off like that? Genius all around. Still has it. Thank you for the compilation. Well done.
My grandma and me would watch this show together. Such a wonderful show. A beautiful memory❤
One of the best sketches in TV history!!!!
6:11 She broke three of the funniest people in comedy in one fell swoop. Impressive.
this is one of the funniest skits I have seen. I have always wanted to see Tim Conway and Betty White a comedy skit to how hilarious they would together, I am sure they would been a show stopper
I loved this skit, been watching for days when Vicki's character (Mama) said that line, "Are you sure that little a$$hole's through,?" I thought was gonna choke laughing so hard. lol
Just wish we had this clean humor again. They were awesome
no matter how many times I see this I still laugh hysterically. Thanks to all.
Same here. I've seen it so many times that I caught myself saying Tim's lines right along with him.
Me too. Absolute comedy gold. Sometimes I do the arm motion and just say "G'nert" and my wife just loses it. Just that simple reminder is all it takes and she's off and running for a least five minutes (or so it seems).
@@DDS029- The “g’nert” makes me roar every time!
I have probably watched that sketch a hundred times by now, and it still busts me up to see Dick fall one end of the couch and Tim fall off the other end.
My favorite thing about the Carol Burnett show was Tim breaking Harvey Korman on a weekly basis.
I never get tired of watching it. Four comedic genius’s on a sofa.
Why can't comedy be this good again? Why do we as viewers have to suffer through the most atrocious "comedy" today where EVERYTHING has to be some perverted (how many wiener or muff jokes do "writers" have to have to get a laugh?), sick, toilet humor? This is why The Carol Burnett Show is such a cherished classic. This was the best of the best in sketch comedy and shows the level of talent that we will NEVER see again. Carol, Vicki, Tim, and Harvey are legends amongst legends! I'm sad that Tim and Harvey are gone, but we all can still enjoy this great show and laugh until we cry! 🙂
Seen it a million times ALWAYS makes me laugh!
The way Tim let's the joke ferment and it just gets funnier the more you think about it. Comic genius.
I have watched this skit a million times! Cracks me up every time.
Tim Conway was so brilliant and this classic sketch lives on. After 50 years it's still a killer.
that is by far the best comedy break up by far .... the simple fact that Vickie even did it in MAMA'S voice and manner was spot on perfect ...
Poor Dick Van Dyke. He was just so tied up in stitches and watching him was just too much. Comedic genius in a monologue. Best entertainment ever.
One of my all time favorite skits! The genius of Tim Conway! ❤
That Dick, Vicki and Carol are still here is such a blessing!!! We need laughter in this world!!!
One of the funniest sketches I have evr seebn next to The Dentist
This never gets old. Saw this as a kid and its just as funny today. The talent is off the hook.
This is legendary.....and definitely TV history!
My all time favorite skit with "The Dentist" skit a close second!! Lol This show is by far better than any show today (2023).
I was a faithful viewer of the show and to this day I remember that sketch and Vicki destroying Tim. Even though the line was bleeped, you could easily make out the WORD that laid waste to the cast! Thanks for that memorable moment in TV history, Vicki. and Carol!😂🤣
They were one of the best shows on TV.
I have watched this dozens of times. I still laugh out loud. What brilliant timing, what enormous talents.
the greatest comedy skit I ever saw. I still laugh so much at this.
Thanks for all those years of gut busting laughs. You could have sold the out-takes as an Ab workout video! You are all geniuses at your comedy craft...LOVE IT!
Comedy gold! What great times they all had working together back in that Golden Age of Comedy when stars didn’t have to curse every two words to get a laugh! Thanks for sharing this footage!
No matter how many times I watch that clip, I crack up every time. Truly one of the most hilarious sketches ever done.
I remember that scene. I love this show so very much❤
This sketch killed me the first time around way back then, and still cracks me up to this day!
Great merge of these two clips into one package.
