Dry eyes are often caused by insulin resistance. Many people who have dry eye have said it went away completely with a lower carb diet. From my experience, a few days after I stop eating sugar the dry eye goes away. If I start eating sugar again, it comes back, sometimes right away, sometimes a couple days later.
I wish that worked here. I’m on a zero carb diet. Maybe, it is my insulin. I have sugar crashes after eating protein with not enough fat. Laura, you have a really good point here! I’m going to start testing my ketosis & insulin levels. Thanks! 💕
Agreed. Aso Menopause can trigger it but usually the person is either insulin resistant or sensitive. I developed it when I was at my highest weight and insulin resistant. Right after Christmas my eyes started bothering me. I did not identify it fast enough and my eyesight went from better than normal to needing reading glasses and periods of blurry for no reason I knew of. I have found lately that colloidal silver dropped in my eyes twice a day and organic tears has really helped. I saw the video of bacteria building up under the lashes. Also I stopped wearing mascara and I had a bad habit of not removing it before bed sometimes because I thought I had a really good waterproof non flaking mascara and my sensitive eyes did not like the removal. That was real bad and caused lots of flakes to build up in m,y eyes I think. I used an organic honey rubbed along the rims of my eyes to take care of that and benefited from the antibacterial compounds and vitamins in it and my vision clears perfectly however I do not like to use that but once a month. Just some organic and manageable ideas for those who do not do well with other products.
wow, thanks Doc, started with the tooth brush, after 1 good sneeze, I turn it around and get the vibration from the base of the brush it is gentler....after a week I can walk outside on a windy day and not tear up. my eyes were less crusty in the morning, and nasal passages are less dry, and the kicker snoring has reduced seriously.....Bravo for this info
I have used my electric toothbrush for years to encourage sinus drainage when my head gets stuffed up. You just have to experiment on various placements of the vibrations, but it acts like a mini-jack hammer to liquefy mucus to promote drainage thereby inhibiting the growth of bacteria that could cause sinusitis. I have NEVER had a sinus infection since I started using this.
I’m glad that I watched the whole video. It sounds like you shared a very helpful technique for some people, but risking a migraine knocks me out of the game. Thanks for all you do, Doc. You’re a blessing.
OH MY GOD! Just did 30 seconds with my electric toothbrush on 5/16/23. BOTH eyes started tearing a lot with doing it on just one side for 30 seconds. Thoroughly unpleasant reaction with sneezing etc. but I will get back in 2 weeks. THANKYOU!!!!!!!!! PS: It's been just a little while and my eyes are not burning as much as before the treatment. Interesting.
Thank you so much for this information. It worked and I felt so good yesterday after doing this with my sonic tooth brush for 30 sec on either side. It was a bit of torture as you showed in the video but worth it. My eyes felt normal whole day yesterday and I did not have the burning sensation . I did my heat treatment with Aroma season and then did the tooth brush treatment.
I have the iTear 100 devise and like it. I reacted like you did for the first week then it tapers off dramatically to very little tickling now and no sneezing for me. I was in a trial for it 2 years ago and when they took it away from me I cried!! I tried everything to mimic it including the tooth brush and just could not get it to do the same. I use it 2x everyday and enjoy it. Not sure how much it helps because I do other treatments but I like doing things that do not involve always putting drops or things into my eyes because my eyes are so sensitive. IPL is still hands down the best thing I have done for my dry eye. Loved the video
Woah! Thanks for this comment! So good to hear from somebody that tried the itear100 and liked it. I was curious how it compared to a toothbrush, glad to hear you tried that as well. 😄
Amazing to find this. So tired of drops and warm cloths my Dr explained. Going to try this soon. Thanks so much. I’m 63, hopefully it works for any age with dry eyes.
A rare symptom of MS, according to what I read years ago, is that it can affect the tear production nerve. Now, age also added to it. Allergies to the preservatives in any type of eye drops make it impossible to use any of them. Also, no iTear in the EU. This vid has been a life saver and luckily, I don't sneeze from it. The difference was very noticeable after day 1 even. Thanks so much!!
I've been doing this for years, though not routinely every day. I use a $10 handheld massager and hold it over these areas of my nose, higher against the bone of my nose, my forehead, eyebrow ridge, and cheek bones. I tried it randomly to relieve sinus problems such as not being able to breathe through my nose when I lay down. While I didn't notice much tearing (maybe there's something wrong with me) I sneezed similar to you, and it feels like I "got everything out" and I'm able to breathe comfortably again. My sinus even feels clear enough that I can sneeze with my mouth closed without discomfort. Although I haven't done it routinely, I haven't had any ill effects. If you decide to try it, go at your own comfort level.
Many people have dry eyes because the tear ducts are clogged. What I do is pull the bottom lid down and wash the tear duct with my wash cloth. It works everytime.
How interesting. I tried it for a few seconds each side and it worked. There was a sneezy sensation as you say. However its not worse than the terrible tickly feelings I first experienced when cleaning my teeth with the sonic toothbrush the first few times.
I wash my eyes with warm water two to three times daily sometimes more and then I'm fine. If I forget, my eyes are burning, irritable, a lot of discomfort.
Thank you for this fascinating information! Some 25 years ago when my father was studying to be an optometrist, he came home one day with "new information" about that nerve specifically. None of us really suffered from dry eye at the time - but he learned in class that if you scrunch your nose up and pinch your eye-brows you can also gently stimulate this nerve. This may be old information now - but if we needed to sneeze, or tear up or anything like that, we'd hold that pinch for a while and it worked like a charm every time. Suffering from dry-eyes as an older adult now, that gentle stimulation doesn't do "enough" to make an effective difference, so I use a gel based eye-drop, (I also have other underlying medical causes) but I know that - that gentle stimulation always made a small difference, so I'm going to talk to my eye doctor about those types of devices and maybe find a similar solution! I'm really thankful for your video!
I've had dry eyes for a couple years and I'm 68 years old. So it's worth a try with the toothbrush. But what I've been realizing is I'm thinking that my medication could be contributing to my dry skin dry hair and dry eyes! Yesterday I went to the store and I got me some Pedialyte hoping that it is an internal thing that can be remedied. I also haven't used the phone but for the last two or three years but I also believe there's a possibility that the phone is causing blue light blindness. Never had this problem before until I got this phone. I think that I'm going to have to get some kind of special covering for the phone because I believe the phone is hurting my eyes. I noticed that this doctor had very dark spots right in between the eyes, and that's what I have now that I've never had before and I believe that's the because of the blue light. I think we're going to see a lot of blind people walking around if we don't get a remedy for these phones! I'm trying not to use the phone at all as much as possible, but I've watched young people stay on these phones 24/7 and I am believing there's going to be repercussions because it is not good for the eyes!
I use my fingers right above the eyes, near the tear ducts, and the temples. Just move either in circles or side to side in these spots. One great benefit is your sinuses will open up too. Above the eyes , you will notice your eyes water.
Whoa. That's crazy that it worked. I would have a hard time with a vibrating sensation on my nose and not sneezing or it tickling too much. Super interesting and good info! Thanks for all your awesome videos!
Absolutely bizarre but I'm in such desperate straits with my MGD that I will try just about anything. The Schirmer results are remarkable, thanks for sharing
I'm sure you all will know why this happens and what this means, but my eye doc told me that typically the surface of the eyeball will dry out at 10 seconds with an open lid. Mine dries out after 3 seconds. I haven't found anything that helps; when I get up in the morning I can't even open my eyes until I have water to apply all over my eyes, lids, lashes etc. I really want to try this with the toothbrush! Maybe I'll try it for a few seconds as soon as I wake up and see if it helps and if so, I'll talk to my eye doc! I have hope, thank you! Cheers from Nova Scotia!
I had the same problem (for months and months and months). Doctors want to prescribe medications (I don't take anything synthetic). I began taking Lutein twice a day and also upped my fish oil intake. No more dry eye. Good luck!
The struggle is real. Mine dry out in 2 seconds. Tested recently again. I know that feeling when your eyelids can't even run smoothly over the eyes. It feels like there is a ton of sand in one's eyes 😢
Thank you so much! I have been suffering from dry eye syndrome for years, and tried everything. As soon as I started this method I noticed improvement at once. Now, after 3 weeks, my eyes are completely normal. Even when I ride my bike with a strong wind blowing, my eyes are fine. Question: how long shouldI continue to do neurostimulation?
I find the increase in basel tears pre treatment very interesting and encouraging. Even though the post rate drops over time the important basel rate shows a steady improvement over the month.
That was interesting to me too. It made sense though, because at first it was really intense. I had a lot more tearing and sneezing at first, and then it calmed down. But the basal tears continued to improve slightly.
I could imagine a vibration device that bridges your nose and stimulates both sides. It could be a soft comfortable material or even implemented in a soft facial or sleeping mask.
Had to try this. It made me cough uncontrollably during the full 30 seconds each side. Certainly makes my eyes run with tears. Will keep trying it. Thanks.
Use a heated .20 (20 secs full power) microwaved eye mask and place it over your eyes until it cools. Then press along your eyelash line through the mask. This will release the Meibomian Glands. Find an Opti-Therm mask on line.

@@DrEyeGuy Not often enough. On average once a week. I get motivated more as symptoms get worse. My Mglands were so enflamed 8 months ago, the doctor injected a steroid to bring down the inflamation and swelling. I forgot to mention that I also use hypo chloric acid after cleaning and massage. Things are more fairly stable now than in the past. Thanks for YOUR help!
Something which I thought of myself 2 years ago was if you slice off the bristles and hold the smooth side against your gums it stimulates the blood flow. I used to have gingervitis as I had moved home to another area and stupidly did not get round to getting a new dentist for 2 years. I now have my usual monthly check with a clean and my teeth have stopped bleeding and I am sure that they look whiter. My gums are excellent now. Please make sure you do not use the vibration against a tooth just make sure you run the back of toothbrush up high in the mouth against the gum root area and same below to not vibtrate along the tooth/gum edge..
Hi doc. I tried this ust now didn't really get many tears or even sneezing. But I then put the toothbrush on lower setting and massaged around my eyelids and that I think must have activated the meibomian glands a bit . Thanks for the experiment. I'll try to keep it up for some days and see how it goes .
I inhale black pepper dust! I think it stimulates the nerve too. I discovered that when I normally got pepper in my nose my eyes would water and I would sneeze. So when I can’t handle the super dry eyes…I just inhale my pepper dust! Also I have Trigeminal Neuralgia. Mostly on the right side and that is my driest eye.
it reminds me of Alice in Wonderland when Alice meets the Cook for the first time 😅, but what a clever idea of yours! I guess it can only be used in extreme situations as it is probably quite irritating to the nerve.
@@nct948 actually,I’d been doing this for some time…not bad. On my last dr visit, they gave me the sample nasal spray for stimulating tears. IT DOES THE SAME THING as pepper! 😂😂🤣. Made me sneeze and the whole dealie! You spray it on the trigeminal nerve inside the nose. Same reaction as pepper.
Thank you for this great video and for introducing me to this device and the mechanism behind it itself! Also thanks for your other videos, especially about dry eyes. I did some reserach on it too, and I found that this device oscilates at similar frequency to sonic toothbrushes. Producer's study says "...with a frequency of approxi-mately 220 to 270 Hz and an amplitude of roughly 0.5 to 1 mm". Sonic toothbrushes oscilate at 12000-24000 or even 40000 revolutions per MINUTE, and Hz is an unit second. So 12k/minute = 200Hz, 24k/minute = 400Hz, 40k/minute = 667Hz. In other words a toothbrush with oscilation between 13200 rev/min to 16200 rev/min is going to have the same frequency as itear100. I however don't think that those toothbrushes have a movement of 0.5 to 1mm - I think it's less than that, though it might also depend on brand, mode etc. On a side note I find odd that both frequency and movement aplitude seem to be rather unprecise. I'm not trying to be a smartass here, but I thought that huge difference with frequencies could discourage people from trying that method. So having that said, I'm trying this on myself too. I first tried regular electric toothbrush, but it's worse. It has lower frequency and moves more, so after a few days my nose bone started hurting a bit, and my skin got damaged a bit. I'm trying an oscilating toothbrush for 2 days now, and it stimulates this nerve way more than electric toothbrush - way more tears and eye redness :) I also tried to contact itear100 company saying that I'd like to buy it, but they haven't responded. Probably because I'm from Poland. Saddening but here I am. I watched some other video about that device, and it looks like they're selling it for $150 and then you have to pay $50 for a monthly "refill" as youtube lady said. I don't know itear100 company calls it a "refill" but if they do, then I dislike it on so many levels. A "refill" of an electronic device is called "charging" these days, and it doesn't cost $50/month. I understand the fact that it's a business to them and they had to invest money in research etc. I'd rather pay larger amount of money and have the device available for the rest of my life. That subscription model is unfortunately becoming a trend everywhere. So I'm planing to make my own nerve massager for my personal use, just out of curiosity to compare it with sonic toothbrush.
Thank you for the amazing comment. Also, thank you for the info with the frequency calculations, I must have over looked that. I will put that info in the description for sure. You are correct on the pricing of the itear100: $150 and $50 for a "refill". I put that on the screen in the video, but I'm wondering if that pricing will change later on... not sure. I'm curious to see how your nerve massager will work, definitely keep me posted. -Again, thanks for the awesome comment!
Very interesting, but I’m a bit lost with regards to terminology here. You said you first used a « regular electric toothbrush », with no success at all, and then an « oscillating toothbrush ». Aren’t those the same? I.e they differ from a sonic toothbrush, but how do they differ from one another?
This actually could help with my blocked inflamed nose now as my nasal blood gets cold the nasal holes gets tight and I can’t breathe and relying myself with decongestant sprays which is bad for overuse as it’s a blood thinner and dries up the nasal passages and can bleed Such a great idea thank you Doc! 😁
Thank you. Recently I developed pain in my left eye, so had an ER visit. I had a torn cornea! my eye dr decided a 24/7 contact lens would help. Evidently I damaged my cornea while sleeping due to dry eyes.
Just a note...my apnea machine sometimes dries out my eyes during sleep. I suffered a scratch on my cornea when a teen, and I am 76. The eye doctor said these scratches return if eye drops are not used repeatedly each day. Such a pain, but the eye pain from the scratch is much much worse...OUCH!!
Yikes! Sorry to hear this. Sounds like you might be dealing with recurrent corneal erosions. Would you be able to switch to the nose/nostril type of cpap?
@@DrEyeGuy That is exactly what I was considering...in fact I made a mental note to call my professional on Monday to, GET ON IT !! Let us pray...that there are a few different options, LOL. I didn't care for the one available, a few years ago. Thanks for confirming that option I was considering. You are awesome!
My nose is deviated due to a staphylococcus infection a few years ago and now I have red irritated eyelids, I'm assuming due to damage from staph on inner nose. I'll try this in the hopes it might help. Thanks for the tip 👍
New here. Thoughtful and educational video. I didn't know there was such a thing as a dry eye test, so I'll have to Google that. I do have issues with my eyes feeling like I've had no sleep a lot of the time, and it makes me want to GO to sleep. However, my reactive tears flow like crazy with allergies, wind, sun, etc., so I need to explore. Can't afford to go to an eye doctor, so will just have to figure it out. I did just start some eye exercises and accupressure type stuff that may be helping. Thanks for using yourself as a Guinea pig! Liked and subscribed.
I tried this for the first time, but not with my toothbrush but instead with my pulsing shower head (hand-held). That gave me a slower and softer pulsation. It tickled like crazy but didn't cause sneezes. This should be interesting.
I would suggest Humming as a protocol. It improves your recovery from any nose infection and i suspect it also stimulates tear production based on your video.
I don’t find that I have a dirty toothbrush so I use the same one to do teeth and nose. I just rinse it off before using in my mouth. I also only use the toothbrush once a day. I find it has really worked.
Thanks for the comment. If it looks promising, you can look into the itear100 or tyrvaya (nasal spray). Ill be doing a video about those here soon as well.
This is really interesting and I’m definitely gonna try this. I had Stevens Johnson syndrome from pennicillin 34 yrs ago and sever dry eyes is among one of my many problems. I wear a PROSE device in my eyes (a Scleral lens) which enables me to function let alone have decent (about 20/30) vision. I score about a 1 on the Sherner (spelled wrong I’m sure) so it can’t hurt.
Thank you immensely for this video. I was inspired to use the back of my electric toothbrush to massage and stimulate my blocked meibomian glands after doing a heat compress (i use a hand warmer on the hottest setting which i put in a 40 denier stocking to avoid burning) and it released the oils so well and gave me much needed relief. This will now be my go to method for treating my eye disease. Thank you so very much xxx
@zayvier69 I bought it from amazon but its no longer available but I'm sure most hand warmers that are charged via USB will do the same job. All the best.
This was helpful. I followed along, just gently holding the tips of both middle fingers in the same position as his toothbrush. Tear production noticeably increased. Been noticing dry eye this winter more than last year. This could save me some discomfort!
I have a sonic facial brush that I had stopped using, no reason, and I noticed my dry eye came back. I'm wondering if using it made a difference. It is a plastic round brush called Luna sold in stores like Ulta. I'll go back to it and see how it works. Also smartphone use: set on dark background. This will help reduce the blue light coming off the screen and may help reduce vision fatigue.
I have suffered from chronic dry eyes for the last 2 years. Tried everything with no improvements. I got the same results as the toothbrush using an electric nose hair trimmer. Noticed when trimming a little way inside my nostrils my eyes began to water, but it also made my eyes feel sore and guess it will be the same result using the toothbrush method.
My eyes are extremely dry to the point I wake up several times a night needing drops and don't want to use a prescription so keep the amazing tips coming! i just started on omega3 but too soon to tell of it will work. Thank you!
@@paulinechapman5669 have you experimented with a mask on the eyes at night, to keep the eyelids closed or at worse not drying out in contact with the air? I haven't found a type of mask that was both light and tight that would not interfere with my sleep. Have you?
I wanted to give it a try but was diagnosed with Pigment dispersion syndrome (PDS). I have pressure problems/loss of vision/dry eyes particularly in my right eye. My eye doctor recommended I avoid jostling my eyes
I’m definitely gonna try it for one month. I believe my dry eyes coincided with developing metabolic disease and insulin resistance. UV not a factor because I was working the night shit for 13 years.
I was shocked it actually worked for me. Again.. im not recommending the toothbrush to the nose to anyone because of the reasons I mentioned in the video. But I think Neurostimulation is a legitimate treatment for dry eyes. Pretty cool.
I'm trying the toothbrush method for a month and i've really felt a big improvement in my severe dry eye. My only concern is long term safety and is there a chance of developing trigeminal neuralgia? I don't have access to the itear100 in my country.
So far studies show no signs of that developing with Neurostimulation treatment. But I wouldn't say the studies are long term... so we just don't know yet. So that can be a worry for sure. Thanks for sharing your experience! You are committed.🙂
You have confused cycles per second and cycles per minute. The toothbrush is rated in cycles per minute, e.g. 24,000CPM/60SPM = 400CPS. As a crosscheck, notice that the toothbrush vibrates at about the rate of a 440CPS tuning fork like piano tuners use. Hence, the toothbrush is just about twice the rate of the commercial stimulator. Also, if you point the toothbrush away from your eye, like holding the handle out in front of you, then you won't poke yourself in the eye when you sneeze.
I have one of those sonogram toothbrushes, but I also have what they call the facial rose quartz roller. It vibrates may be a little less way more comfortable.
I've first used a toothbrush and then prescribed to the iTear100 for 6 months. I can tell you from experience that the iTear100is way stronger and/or higher vibration. If you have a choice on your toothbrush choose the higher setting if you can tolerate it. Just FYI
I successfully used my vibration toothbrush to cure my computer arm/elbow. 5 minutes, 2-3 times per day worked wonders and it never came back!! If you have tennis elbow it might work for that too!
Hello Doctor, do you still feel the improvment of dryness in your eyes after this experience? If no, for how much of time after the end of the 1 month test your eyes felt good? I started this test today but i had no tears and no sneezing, is it normal?
Good question! I still have noticed that I get more reflexive tears, from yawning and lights, and it's been another 3 weeks since I stopped. You are not alone... a couple of other people have commented on here about not having tears or sneezing as well. That still is mind-boggling to me because it was pretty intense for me... but it looks like some other people don't have that reaction.
@@DrEyeGuy maybe these people have severe aqueous deficiency that you don’t have? I’m not sure this product would work with people who suffer from Sjögren’s for instance ?
@@arthursimsa9005 you're right, response to the treatment can definitely vary depending on the condition and cause of the dry eyes. Also on top of that how the nerves are function as well, as you have mentioned on other comments.
My eyes didn’t heal right after Lasik eye surgery. They sent me out the door with a bag full of eye lube that I was supposed to put my eyes, but they didn’t really give me a big heads up on how important it was to use it during the first 24 hours. So I lay on my couch for 24 hours, basically blinded, suffering. Now I still have dry eye and have to pry my eyes open using Thera tears every morning for at least 10 years now.
Thats very interesting. I'll try it. 👍 Is it possible that glasses which put pressure on this part of the nose, affect the trigeminus nerve in a bad way?
Sooth your intestines to sooth your eyes. If your eyes are irritated in any way, know it is a symptom telling you your gut, your G.I. track is irritated. How you choose to go about doing this is in your hands.
Iodine Levels-If the thyroid is functioning at less than optimum levels, it may be due to improper iodine levels in your body. Iodine plays a crucial role in the function of all secretory glands. If you don't fix the cause all this fun is not going to solve the problem.
Call me crazy when I have dry eyes I put vicks vapor rub right on the middle of my check bones a small amount & the vapors clear up the dry eyes immediately. Toothpaste has the same affect...Who knew 🤷🏾♀️
You say sonic is even faster. I looked at a cheap sonic brush on Amazon and it said 20,000 sweeps per minute which a Hertz calculator says is 333.33 hertz. A non sonic cheap one was 65 hertz. The first one is closer to the amount you said the medical unit has and the ad says it stimulates saliva and my saliva is dry. So I will get one. I asked my doctor for something for saliva and he prescribed a pill that you have to take for 12 weeks before it works, when I could have just used an electric toothbrush.
Dea r Dr EyeGuy, I LOVE your videos and information about dry eye problems! Researching DES is what brought me to your wonderful talks and I wondered if you might consider a point I wish to make regarding the sneezing that occurs when using the trigeminal neurostimulation method. Might it not be advisable to blow the nose when sneezing and torrential running of tears happens? It's better than sniffing the stuff back up. As kind friend once used to tell me, "Get rid of it!" C'mon; it's trying to exit for a reason. Thank you for allowing me to share this post.
I get very very teary when I go outside & wind hits my eyes as well as any slight temperature change .. I’m already tearing too much, is that a dry eye issue? Will the vibration technique help?
I found my sonicare with a new tip bristle to the nose worked wonders after my lasik surgery. I found myself not needing the artificial tears at all after less than a week after the operation.
Interesting...I know you said its baseline tears but it looked more like reflex tears because of the red eyes (similar to when you leave your eyes open for a long time and you start tearing up)
Day 2 of trying it. I think its helping. You can watch your eye tear up in the mirror as you do it. Trying to find the sweet spot(s). I’ve been gently moving it around a little bit around different parts of the perimeter of the eyes were the nerves circle around it to see if it helps get the juices flowing better. I’ll keep updating as I go. I ordered a little facial massager to try instead of the tooth brush. Has 3 vibrating settings and 4 possible tips to pick from. I’ll see if it works as well. Apparently the itear100 is prescription only with a bunch of limitations and a $50 monthly prescription renewal just to do the same thing basically these things do for free for the most part, so this is my work around for now. Also it seems like blinking/closing my eyes and opening them while I do it helps increase tears/lubrication. Also I’ve been rubbing vaseline on my nose to keep it from drying out/reddening before and after.
Thank you for this interesting experiment, and being the test subject! My advanced eye syndrome was caused by Lasik. I am constantly having to use preservative free eye drops per my doctor. I may try this, but will use safety goggles. Added benefit - my sinuses will be cleared out LOL! Since this was a year ago, do you have any additional information?
When he started using the electric toothbrush on his nose and began saying “WHOO!” & sneezing, I couldn’t stop laughing!! And that begin making my tears start flowing! Thanks Doc! You’re awesome! Also I learned that there are 3 types of tears, and I never knew that before.😂
Since a bad neck manipulation I have suffered from dry eyes. So what your saying makes sense. I guess they damaged my trigeminal nerve. Maybe neck problems are the problem with alot of people who suffer from thus condition?
Thank you! I have struggled with dry eye for years. I have tried a couple treatments offered by my ophthalmologist which didn’t help. I am anxious to try this new product! By the way, does the sign on your shelf read “You can rarely see what is right in front of you”? I couldn’t read the last few words…just a guess! 👀
I tried this. I didn't get the sneezing or the eyes watering. It did a great job of draining my sinuses, so that's something. How do you find the "sweet spot" where the nerve is best accessed?
Man, your suggestion is the exact opposite of what I need: I'm sneezing and tearing endlessly through the day. Do you have any reverse idea, of DRYING my endless damned weeping?
Very interesting video. I have ordered an electric toothbrush. I think I will get a piece of cloth, or place my thumb pad to protect my eye while doing it. Thanks for this info.

wow just tried this with my sonic toothbrush - sneezing and eyes watering. It's very ticklish but feels great.!
Bro, I just tried this, and came to the Internet for validation. My eyes feel great by the way.
Amazing!
My nose would run after using my electric toothbrush on my teeth.
Where do you place the vibrations to relieve sinuses please?
Where to get I Tear 100?
Thanks for sharing!
Definitely going 2 try this.
❤
Whoa. That's crazy that it worked. I would have a hard time with a vibrating sensation on my nose and not sneezing or it tickling too much. Super interesting and good info! Thanks for all your awesome videos!
I would be worried about poking my eye with the toothbrush when I sneeze! 😵 I am a BIG sneezer!
Seriously, it was kind of scary sometimes. My sneezing got less and less after a while, but I still had to be careful.
I was surprised it worked as well.
Absolutely bizarre but I'm in such desperate straits with my MGD that I will try just about anything. The Schirmer results are remarkable, thanks for sharing
I was shocked with the results as well. Thanks for watching!

I tried this with my electric toothbrush last week without ever seeing this video!
I’m pretty smart!
Wow, your doing experiments right in front of us. I like your videos. I'm gonna sub now.
It was a fun experiment to do. 😀
Holy cow, I was thinking the same thing. As I was doing it over the month I was thinking of a bunch of different ways or devices that could work.
@@DrEyeGuy any progress with this idea?
@@nct948 Not that I have heard of yet.
I just order this toothbrush I wish I will sneeze and have tear come out. Thank you doctor for all these awesome VDO

I have dry eye according to my eye doctor because of my hypothyroidism. My thyroid is out of control in spite of taking medicine. I just subscribed.
When you say you are massaging around your eyelids, are you actually pressing ok your eyelids over your eyeball?
@@laurapuchalski7402 thanks for taking the time to reply 😉
I'm trying an oscilating toothbrush for 2 days now, and it stimulates this nerve way more than electric toothbrush - way more tears and eye redness :)
I also tried to contact itear100 company saying that I'd like to buy it, but they haven't responded.
What brand was the brush you saw improvement with?
@@arthursimsa9005 I think the oscillating means the kind that spins at the tip verse a straight vibrating brush. I’ll let the Dr answer though.
This actually could help with my blocked inflamed nose now as my nasal blood gets cold the nasal holes gets tight and I can’t breathe and relying myself with decongestant sprays which is bad for overuse as it’s a blood thinner and dries up the nasal passages and can bleed
Such a great idea thank you Doc! 😁
Thank you! It was definitely an interesting test to do.
Tried this with a small "Non Doctor" Vibrator (if you get my drift) and it worked more effectively than a Sonic Toothbrush..
Is that vibrator available at Amazon? I would like to try it.
Ha ha! I totally tried it and it helped!!
Holding the toothbrush upside down would definitely be less dangerous
Wow! I’ve had dry eyes for years and I’m gonna try this! Thank you!
Thanks for the comment. If it looks promising, you can look into the itear100 or tyrvaya (nasal spray). Ill be doing a video about those here soon as well.
Are you ok now
This is really interesting and I’m definitely gonna try this.
What’s the hand warmer? Do you have model name or shopping link?
@zayvier69 I bought it from amazon but its no longer available but I'm sure most hand warmers that are charged via USB will do the same job. All the best.
Thank you for explaining this so well - new information for me. I've had dry eyes all my life.
The toothbrush end is too vigorous. So use the other end of the electric toothbrush, the base. It still vibrates, but more gently.
Just watching you do this video made my eyes water! Excellent video, I learned an awful lot.
Well done. Very well demonstrated. I will give a try
I give 10 points for trying and two for success, you win! Thanks "10 points".

I was shocked it actually worked for me. Again.. im not recommending the toothbrush to the nose to anyone because of the reasons I mentioned in the video. But I think Neurostimulation is a legitimate treatment for dry eyes. Pretty cool.
OMG. I sneeze and tear comes out. Thank you so much
That's awesome! Pretty crazy though right?
Do you think the tooth brush vibration over the sinus area will improve mucus flow for sinus infections?
I was told by one of the optometrist that I do have enough tears but not enough oils, wish this will help
I have one of those sonogram toothbrushes, but I also have what they call the facial rose quartz roller. It vibrates may be a little less way more comfortable.
has the quartz roller been helpful?
I've first used a toothbrush and then prescribed to the iTear100 for 6 months. I can tell you from experience that the iTear100is way stronger and/or higher vibration. If you have a choice on your toothbrush choose the higher setting if you can tolerate it. Just FYI
Thank you for sharing!
So now there are *three* uses of an electric toothbrush.

The nose spray is out and I wondered how nose spray could work. Well you explained it.

Omg, it looks more painful than I would ever do. I’ll keep my dry eyes, thank you.
Interesting...I know you said its baseline tears but it looked more like reflex tears because of the red eyes (similar to when you leave your eyes open for a long time and you start tearing up)
Yes the reflexive tears kick in during, the baseline tears slow improve through the days.
i tried this on my nose today, and blood started pouring out everywhere! It made my eyes moist though, for a few minutes.
Thank you for this vid. I’m going to try this method for my dry eyes!

@@DrEyeGuy Be brave....turn the toothbrush around. I did....works better.
@@WWarthog798 woah.. what? Did that irritate your skin?
@@DrEyeGuy Nope...
Awesome, I have occasional dry eyes and have been using drops, thanks.
Thank you! I have struggled with dry eye for years. I have tried
a couple treatments offered by my ophthalmologist which
didn’t help. I am anxious to try this new product! By the way,
does the sign on your shelf read “You can rarely see what is
right in front of you”? I couldn’t read the last few words…just
a guess! 👀
I have the same Philips Sonicare toothbrush. I couldn't last more than 1 second on each side. It is a very sensitive area.
have you gotten the chance to try Tyrvaya yet? looking forward for your feedback on that
Yes I have. Almost been using it for 3 weeks. I like it, and I'll be doing a video on it very soon.
I tried this. I didn't get the sneezing or the eyes watering. It did a great job of draining my sinuses, so that's something. How do you find the "sweet spot" where the nerve is best accessed?
I had to hunt for it sometimes. But, you are not alone. I have had quite a few people tell me they couldn't get a reaction they wanted.
My grandmother said to use cod liver oil internally for dry eyes and it works.
Man, your suggestion is the exact opposite of what I need: I'm sneezing and tearing endlessly through the day. Do you have any reverse idea, of DRYING my endless damned weeping?
Very interesting. Did you think your eyes felt less dry throughout the day or only after stimulation?
After a couple of weeks I noticed they would feel less dry throughout the day as well.
Very interesting video. I have ordered an electric toothbrush. I think I will get a piece of cloth, or place my thumb pad to protect my eye while doing it. Thanks for this info.
