✅Ingredients
• 1 pound elbow noodles
• 1/2 cup salted butter
• 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
• 1½ teaspoon ground mustard
• 1½ teaspoon onion powder
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
• 3 cups milk whole, 2%, or 1%
• 8 ounces shredded sharp cheddar cheese
✅Instructions
00:00:15 - Start water boiling for elbow macaroni
00:00:21 - Shred 8 oz sharp cheddar cheese with a cheese grater
00:00:48 - How to make roux for mac and cheese sauce
00:01:55 - Add milk to roux and bring to a simmer
00:02:12 - Turn heat off and add cheese, stirring to melt
00:02:23 - Drain pasta and pour into cheese sauce

1️⃣ Fill a large saucepan with water, and bring to a boil. Stir in the macaroni; cook until al dente. Drain well.
2️⃣ Meanwhile in another large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour, salt, pepper, onion powder, and mustard powder and cook 1-2 minutes.
3️⃣ Pour in milk and whisk until smooth. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring constantly, for 3-5 minutes until the sauce starts to thicken. Turn off the heat and whisk in cheese until melted.
4️⃣ Pour cooked pasta into the cheese sauce and stir well to combine. Serve hot.

This is by far the best mac’n’cheese recipe out there! Before I even tried it, my toddler got obsessed with watching this video, begging me to play it over and over again. And when I finally got to cook it - oh my! This dish turned out so smooth; flavorful and deliciously moist! And it’s so EASY!! Our entire family can’t get enough of this recipe. Thank you so much!

I've been watching mac and cheese recipes for about 2 hours now and this is the first video I've seen that's not cringy or annoying. Just enjoyable to watch.

I made this for my daughter for her 4th birthday for dinner, and we all loved it! I've also looked at your other recipes and they look absolutely amazing. You gained a follower!
This turned out very good! I melted butter in a skillet and lightly browned some panko breadcrumbs, which I put on top of the mac and cheese and then put in a 350 oven for 10 min or so. It was a hit and I'll definitely make this again!

I like how this recipe is so minimalist that it allows people to experiment with their own additional ingredients. I’m personally wondering how green onion stalks and broccoli would contribute
It's good. Just precook the green onions and broccoli until very tender. I would leave out the onion powder though. It's really good to make this and add some shredded chicken.
I cheat and make it with roasted chicken from the grocery store.
The garlic and herb seasoned one is really good and the plain roasted.
I haven't tried the lemon pepper.
That's how I do my chicken spaghetti too. Saute the green onions and some celery however much you like.
Just add 2 cans cream of mushroom soup and a can of original Rotel.
Her recipes are very easy and simple to follow and she doesn't waste useless time talking too much.

This was delicious I made it from my family and it was already really good, but then I put it in a casserole dish with more cheese and breadcrumbs on top for 20mins in the oven at 375degrees Fahrenheit and it was so good to!!

I made this with mozzarella and cream cheese since I was out of cheddar, and mixed in basil. Topped with sun dried tomato and some balsamic glaze. Pretty good.

I made it with velveta, and i didnt use mustard or pepper, and when my harsh critic brother tried it, he said it was pretty good! The recipe is so simple, and so delicous. Great video!

My parents hate Mac and cheese! But this is the first Mac and cheese they have found to love! I added some Italian seasonings to it which boosted the flavor so much, thanks for the great recipe!

Basic recipe and I agree you have to use sharp cheddar. I usually make the box stuff, for convenience, then add to it. I boil the pasta from 2 boxes, drain, add the cheese powder, a stick of real butter, and whole milk, then about 4 big handfuls of sharp cheddar and or a mix of shredded cheeses. ( I like to use the Mexican 5 cheese blend) Then I turn it out into a baking dish, and cover the top with more cheese, and bake on a cookie sheet) for about 30 minutes at 350 degrees F. Semi homemade, quick and easy, and always a crowd pleaser . tfs 💗💗

I tried this without the powdered ingredients because we couldn’t find any so I did it but it didn’t turn out too great. Well I mean I’m only 13 and this was the first ever Mac n cheese that I have made and my family said that if it had some more flavour then it would be great. I made this but i didnt have powdered mustard so i used chilli powder an i didnt have onion powder so i used garlic powder an curry powder it taste really great still

Lovely quantity mix on the sauce and cheese. I used mature English cheddar and some manchego which came up to around 7.5 oz and boobed by adding 3/4 tsp white pepper, FAB mistake, tastes amazing! Thank you
Really good recipe; Mac and cheese tasted really yummy. I’d add more cheese next time, or at least use sharp cheddar as instructed/suggested (I used medium cheddar).

How would you modify this recipe to be one serving? I tried halving the ingredients but I ended up with no flavor. :(

Awesome recipe. I swapped a few things for the sake of nutrition and convenience: used whole grain pasta, Red Leicester cheese, unsalted butter and Dijon mustard in place of the powder.
Next time I would prepare the measures of onion powder, white pepper, salt, flour and mustard because the roux started turning quicker than expected and I was a little late with the whisk.
Nevertheless, perfect comfort food for the colder season.

I don’t know if l let the rue thicken with high enough heat when I stirred it. I don’t know if that affected the consistency or taste. The thickness of the cheese sauce seemed about the same as yours. This recipe tasted like Mac and cheese from the Wholefoods buffet or something. It tastes good.
Amazing, I only had regular cheddar not the sharp kind but it still came out delicious. Way better than store bought.

I made this and it tasted great, but my sauce was watery! I am sure I did something wrong with the Roux, I also added 12 oz of cheese instead of 8 oz of cheese. Any suggestions on how to thinking up my sauce if this happens next time, do I just keep the heat on and cook off the liquid? Thanks!!

So I butchered the recipe a bit:
No mustard powder, not as much butter (I think), a bit more flour, black pepper instead of the white all mixed up in a small sauce pan rather than a big one.
Twas kinda sludgy (I was using the pasta's wooden spoon for whisking, not a whisk), so once the pasta was cooked, I threw in a bit of the pasta water onto the sauce. Then I poured the sauce onto the drained pasta and mixed then returned some pasta to the small sauce pan to retrieve the rest of the cheesy goo.
Wasn't bad for a mcguyvered recipe, though it was a bit doughy (not sure if I used too much flour or if it was the pasta water). Thanks for the video and good luck!

I just did this for my daughter and she loved it. I omitted some of the spices because I didn’t have them but she liked it anyway. The only thing is that I think it’s soooo much cheese sauce. I only used about half of it because it was too much.

Homemade macaroni and cheese is the only way to go. I add gruyere, sharp cheddar, and just a small amount of Parmesan. It’s delicious.

Honestly I always add the flour only cuz it stops the cheese and milk from seperating and it dissolves in the butter so there is no starchiness
Of course, but when you cook the pasta separately and drain the water there is much less starch
