Road 5 had a fenomenal time in italy with my guzzi stelvio. But they not sell road 5 and 6 was hard to get and pricy. I go now on dunlop meridian trail.
ContiTrailAttack3´s for the front tyre and ContiTrailattack2´s for the rear tyre on a MTS950. TrailAttack2´are do not give as much grip as TrailAttack3´s, but last longer.
Great honest review. My Multi V4 came with Pirelli Scorpion II, a fantastic and capable tyre. Having seen this clip I tried the Michelin 6 front and rear. This absolutely changes the V4 in to a missile reliable grip in all weather conditions. I use my Multi for track and road coaching with RAPID TRAINING and this tyre is just Awesome 👍
I rode the Multistrada up and down the Blue-ridge Parkway for two days, fully loaded with camping gear on a set of Michelin Pilot 5s and was hard on the throttle in the tight turns through North Carolina and they stuck like glue to the road. I was actually trying to get the rear to slide a little under power but the Pilot rear was unbelievable. My traction control warning LEDs hardly ever lit up.
Semper Fi Rembo, I appreciate all the info you gave about Mischlin Road 6 tires. Will be getting another bike fairly soon and probably might want to change the tires to the Mischlin Road 6. Thanks again !
I just installed a new set of road 6 GT on my gen 1 Hayabusa. OUTSTANDING! I agree with this clip 100%. I’ve always been a Metzler guy but I’ve officially been won over by the stability through corners, straights and sweeps. Unreal. I was cautious at first because the center was quite high while breaking them in. But that didn’t last and once I dialed my psi( 38R-38F) I’m on rails. I’m weighing in at 260 plus bike weight so tires are extra important to me. I couldn’t be happier. Especially since the guys at the over priced shop I was forced to use, forgot to bill me for the rear ( just labor) . Thanks guys and thanks for the great clip!
Why did you choose the gt over the regulars? The gt is more for fjrs k 1600 and stuff . Hayabusa is heavy but i believe the road 6 warms faster and has a bit smoother ride than the gt for bikes like the Hayabusa and the k 1200s which I have . Remember the psi that michelin advocates for you are 36 42 for longevity if you use them you will understand what I mean the gt is harsh .
I just purchased those tires and your video make feel more confident about install them in the rear and the front. Thanks and hope to get that Ducati Cap
Thanks for the review. I’m 2k miles into the Scorpion Trail 2s on my V4S and the rear has ever-so-slightly slipped twice while accelerating out of corner, maybe from too much throttle. Not enough to crash, but enough to get the heart going. I don’t like how the sipes go all the way to the edges. I didn’t have slippage issue on my last bike with the Road 5s. I’ve been thinking about making the jump early to the Road 6s.
Hi, broward county here. Just put the road 6 on rear recently and it’s fabulous. Will be doing same for front asap. Removed the stock Dunlop trailmax mixtour.
I’m follow you since you had a V4S because I have one too! Your video about the road 6 Tire was very interested and I will continue to see yours video.
I'm glad someone is trying out the Road 6's on the Multi. My Multi is still really new with only about 500 miles on it so it'll be great information when the time comes for a new set. I also wanted to make it down to COTA to hang out and maybe catch you down there, but I ended up having work issues that weekend and I was down in Arlington, TX with my kids for Wrestlemania the weekend before. Hopefully I can make it next year and we can chat it up a bit in the Ducati Island area if you are still riding a Ducati at that time. Take care sir!
I have the Michelin Road 6 fitted to my S1000XR. So far very impressed. Recently did long wet ride, zero issues. Good grip. I had the Road 5, i enjoyed them, good lifespan, fantastic wet and dry grip, so it was a natural progression to replace with the Road 6. Done about 1000klm,so far extremely happy. Fantastic grip. Paid R5680.00 South Africa rand for a front and rear set included fitting and balancing. Always best to run matching tyres. Great to see you bike " issues" seem to be finally resolved. Enjoy your videos. Ride Safe. Think current exchange rate of SA rand to USA dollar is R17.00 rand to one dollar. .
I think tyres today are all pretty good, i haven't fitted a tyre to any bike recently that i haven't been happy with, albeit i ride touring & naked bikes. Milage on the other hand varies enormously in my experience. I've just completely worn out a pair of Michelin S22's in 3,200 miles
I ride an S1000xr, 26000 kms a year all year round in brussels area, so a lot of wet and cold. I love the Metzler Roadtec 01s. They realy get up to temperature fast and inspire confidence. I get about 15 to 17000 kms out of them (50% highway speeds, 20% lane filtering thrugh trafic) Road 6es are on the short list. My BMW dealer has them on his GS and is totally convinced.
It's a good idea to change both front and rear. They're designed by manufacturer to both work together so having differnet brands/models F/R not a great idea 👍
I'm on my 2nd set of road 6's. I have a ktm superduke GT and the rear lasts about 3000 miles. I ride briskly. They are fantastic in the wet cold conditions. The front is mega in all conditions. In the dry.The rear does move a bit when off throttle , but carrying speed through a corner. It's not that bad, it does move occasionally.
@@TheJonazashe has a torque monster with 180 HP . He should get around 4-5k miles if he used maximum recommended inflation (36-42). The bikes power and torque and how hard you accelerate makes a huge difference in tyre wear. In a bike with low or average power tyres can last as much as 3 times longer ...
@@alexandrosamanatidis7825 My bike is z800 with 115 hp, but yeah I understand if you always crank the throttle and drive high speed, the wheels will wear down faster. Still have the road 5s now 21000+ km
I'm always up for your advice and reviews. I noticed straight away that you had new rubber on yours, and that it's got a slick, outer edge to it as well. Appreciate your time and effort Rembo. All the best, Mick in sunny UK.
I just had a set of the new Road 6's mounted. I did a quick scrub in over the last two days. Just over 200 miles. They are fabulous! Brand new and sticking like glue to the road. They did replace a set of worn Michelin Pilot Road 5's that were amazing all the way to the wear indicators. The Road 6's were mounted on a 2013 Honda VFR1200F. I also ride a nicely restored 1984 Honda VF700F Interceptor with Pirelli Sport Demons mounted. Awesome old girl and still a screamer. I had this same model; red, white and blue Interceptor in 750cc back in the late 80's-early 90's during my time in the Corps. I stupidly sold it when detaching from active duty and have regretted it ever since. Wondering if any of these old beauties were still around... I found the 700 in central PA in 2019 and had to have it. Wife's eye were rolling but you know, bike life! Ride safe brother! Semper Fi Marine!
I'm having 2 Michelins Road 6 installed on my BMW R1250 GSA. In particular for more stability and grip in wet conditions. I never get to go offroad anyway... All good!
I would have to agree with you on the Road 6s I have a set F-R on my KTM 890R Duke and kept the OEM Michelin Powercups for my track bike. Man they're an amazing tyre the Road 6s and extremely hard wearing I don't think I have ever had a tyre this good before in 40 years of road riding I remember the old Pirrelli MP7s came close for having the perfect profile but you hit the nail on the head with your review cheers mate Happy Trails from Australia
Dunlop Roadsmart 4 are my favourite tire at the moment. I cannot comment on the Road 6, as I have no experience of them as of yet. The Roadmart 4s have absolutely first class handling and precision in dry conditions. They are so precise and take corners and twisties well. Handles exceptionally well in wet conditions as well and is confidance inspiring. Durability is good so far with 7000 kms on them ( 4349 miles) with easily 2000 kms left on them. And that is a conservative estimation. If you Google reviews, comparing the Roadsmart 4s vs Road 6 you will find they are very evenly compared, with neither tire having a distinct competitive advantage over one another.
I got my 2020 BMW R1250RS at the beginning of 2021. It was used with only 360 miles and I've put almost 6000 on it. It still has the original Michelin Road 4s and they've been great. I see no reason I wouldn't get the 6s when the time comes. I'd say this set has at least another 6000 miles left in them. Luckily the roads are winding here so the flat spotting isn't an issue.
I’m getting Road 6s fitted to my new Pikes peak before I even get it from the shop… I’ve only every ridden on the 2,3,4,5 and now 6s Love them….Great in the wet.. Gives you so much confidence… and great longevity. 100% rate them…👊
Last year I was about to pick a new tyre for my Yamaha FZ6 Fazer (which is called simply FZ6 in the US, in Europe we had a naked variant too, that is why the Fazer name). I wanted the new Bridgestone tires which were developed with the new Tracer 9 GT, but those were not in stock. Road 5 wasn't in stock either. I ended up with Metzeler Roadtech 01 SE. So far, I love them very much, before that I had two sets of Bridgestones, and the Metzeler is better, especially in the wet. Last Friday I was able to test them in the wet. I had two small slides, one of them was on a speed bump, the other was on a half finished roundabout, when I exited, it even spun up for a bit. I guess the surface was very bad there. The rest of the ride I didn't even noticed that it was raining in terms of grip
I bought a Shinko 712 for $79.51 and thought I scored big time in very late 2020. After riding through Death Valley National Park in August '21 it started showing cord a day later and completely blew in Redding, CA on a Sunday. I had to stay two nights as no dealers were open on Sunday or Monday but I found a whole in the wall off road tire guy on Monday who sold me a rear Torrance for my 2013 GSA. Long story short, the cheapest man always pas the most. Had I gotten a quality tire first off I would have saved a nearly $300 tow bill, $250 in Hotel bills and would have had two extra days of my motorcycle trip touring rather than broken down. I'm never skimping on tires again especially good rain capability being here in Seattle.
Love watching your vídeo. I learn a lot from your videos. I'm thinking on getting a Ducati V2S. And the hat would look on me. Waiting for your next vídeo. Take care and ride safe
Michelin! I had a GT set on a Kawi and Power RS on my previous XD. Michelin PS Road 4 on my Porsche 911. Very comfortable, very good grip and wear on all my vehicles
Cool Vlog. Love'd the Michelin's on my old pikes peak, felt good in the wet and were really sticky in the dry. Plenty of peg scraping action to be had!
I love the attributes of this tire however I don’t have the time to do big miles as I don’t commute on my bike so I’d probably go with s22, bit more grip and less expensive.
I currently have scorpions as well on my 2020GSA and while I have been very happy with the performance, the longevity does leave something to be desired as I've only gotten 5k km out of the rear. I am having the Road6 installed tomorrow.
Hello Rembo! The flat spot you show in your video, we call here in my country: "square tire". I face this situation in a 10.000 miles trip to Ushuaia. When the tire get like this, you have to keep it in mind to avoid some affright, because in a curve, when you go from the flat spot to the bend one, motorcycle shakes loosing the balance a little bit. Of curse in a tire much more worn out / "square" than that you showed. Regarding tires, I had Michelin Anakee 3 and the only claim was the noise when running. Other features, very good to me. Right now I have Pirelli Scorpion Trail II in my bike and I am totally satisfied. Very good grip in dry and wet floors. I say that, because time to time I reach the end or the corner of the thread of the rear tire. Here in my state, some roads are like Pikes Peak and it is possible to reach this area of the tire. We say that they are our Dineyland. Right now tires are around 7500 miles and "half life", so good resistance also. Enjoy your twist roads. By the way, where do you have them in Flórida? 😃😃😃 Please, forgive some English mistakes.
Have you gone to the road 6 on the front yet? I have had the Road 6 fitted to my 2016 manual NC750X and I was really concerned that I couldn't go on gravel and dirt roads seeing as it's a 90/10 tyre. So it's ideal for on road, the real surprise was going on dirt and gravel in the wet on steep dirt roads in the wet, and there's something about this tyre that makes it extremely stable and grippy on dirt and gravel roads. They don't sit up and skate like my last road tyre tends to do, maybe it's all the grooves and the compound, but whatever it is, the tyre provides incredible traction and as a result confidence. On top of that, I have minimal wear after 5,000km, and the wear is very even across the tyre, love to hear if you have tested these tyres on and or off road. I have been pleasantly surprised at traction on all surfaces under all conditions, I can see the tyre has gone right to the edge of the sidewall when riding road, that combined with some challenging conditions on gravel road and some dirt roads, they have out performed my expectations. Seems I'm not thew only person loving the Road 6 tyre, just struggling to find people who have tried this tyre off road.
Hi Rembo, great review on the tire options. I like the hat :) I have a 2022 MSV4S on order and have been following your videos trying to get a feel for what to expect when I take delivery of my new ride.
I am seriously looking at this tire for my 2013 Multistrada. I've been running Dunlop Q3+ tires which are great with no flat spotting but don't last long overall.
Looks like the Road 6s took the tread from the Power 5. I’m glad they changed it because I would regularly find that angle where the 5 treads would lead to some squirreliness. Once I hear about overall longevity I’ll probably be replacing my Power 5s with these
We're they like that half worn , I ran Pilot 4 on the back on my Kawasaki Zxr14r , moved around a lot , but Once they half wore , they were letting Go badly , I took it of half warn , if you Look at review of 3 Pilot , 4 Pilot 5 Pilot , is the same , and why are They running the tread nearly to The edge again (Pilot 6 ). On a lot of Our roads in Australia they have Lots road trains which in turn causes Deep ruts, the roads when it wet , at times You ride up these in the wet and already Cornering , you need the tread right up The sides , I saw this happen in front of Me when my mate had a terrible slips In the wet (Shit Michelins ) I had no Problem on the Kawasaki , I was Running S22 not a renowned wet Tyres , but tread runs right out to The edge , and dead right they hang On in the dry Ps The reason I talked about road Trains is some bright spark shut down A lot of the country (Trains) , which in turn Means we don't need to transport any Crops , live stock , and opening up new Mines for Lithium , I think you get the Point there Stuffed the roads up . You Need these with the tread right out to The edges !
Avon also make the new Spirit ST with a 19 inch front wheel option which i have fitted as a matched pair, they are awesome too ! big miles and all weather, inc freezing temps, grip is incredible !
I can say that i have had two accidents due to tires that were designed to be hard for hi mileage, back in the day when a 3.25 was a rear tire size common on a street bike. I slid out the rear twice. After that i studied up on what was the best traction tires for each bike i had. You are lucky today, its hard to pick a bad tire. Some guys pick a tire based on the best track tire because its got the best specs for the fastest lap time, then they go out and ride in the rainon slick roads. Not very smart. If your riding long distances or commuting, you will get caught in bad weather sooner or later, so best to pick a tire thats good for anything you will run into. Plus last you a bunch of miles. The Angel GT is a good tire as well for long distance riding but the Pilot Road 5 and6 are better rain tires. Florida gets a ton of rain in buckets sometimes, so it makes good sense to run the Pilot Road series in Florida.
Hi Rembo. I am Mr Singh from Sunny Singapore. I love these 2 tyres. I have a 2106 BMW R1200 GSA fitted with the ST2 and a 2016 Honda NC750X currently fitted with Michelin Road 5. I can tell you the Road 5 is an exceptional tyre. I have had 1 set of Road 4 brought over from a 2015 CB400X that I got my dealer to fit on the NC when I newly got it. The stock NC tyre was and is crap and then 3 sets of Road 5. My NC is at 100k km now. I have only good things to say about the Road 5. I swear by it. It has given me very good mileage. Each set could last me 25-30 000km. My current set is at 20k km and it still doesnt look like its going to wear anytime soon. I am very excited to put up the new Road 6 when its available here in Singapore and see how that pans out. As for my GSA, it came with Michelin Anakee 3. Not bad but didnt do well in the wet twisties in Thailand. I then switched to Pirelli ST2 and boy it was a delight to ride my bike on the tar and in the gravel and sand when going off road. I even had a set of Michelin Anakee Wild when I was doing hard off roads but it didnt last too long as we had to travel on road to get to our off road sites. That took quite a bit out of the Anakee Wild. I am now spoilt for choice between the Anakee Adventure and the Road 6 for my GSA. I dont know if I am going to do any more off roading, therefore a change to road tyres might suffice. But then again I dont want to restrict myself with my tyre choice. I am going to wait a bit and look for reviews of the Road 6 on GSA. If you have any buddies willing to do that, it would make my day. I loved your video btw. Have a great day Rembo. God bless.
I am debating getting the Michelin Road 6 for my Multistrada. I have no complaints about the OEM tire Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2s. I get bout 6k miles on the rear and about 10k miles on the front with the Pirellis. I want to see if the Michelins give more mileage.
I'm running Pilot Power 3s right now on my Ducati 749, but they need replacing. I am trying to decide between the Road 6's and the Power 5's. I've been caught in serious rain (mountain storms with hail...) a few times with the 3's without issue and I don't ever set out planning to ride in the rain so I'm leaning toward the Power 5's which is a pretty direct upgrade from my current tires. Still should be safe in the rain if I get caught.
Kind of funny to watch a guy riding in Florida. Talk about tire performance. They're more curves coming out of my subdivision in Georgia than there are in the entire state of Florida!.
Hey dude, I know this is an old (and now somewhat irrelevant) posting since you ended up selling your V4S to get the pikes peak. But I have a question relevant to this. You put the road six on the back but not the front. At the end of your video, you said you would follow up with regard to maintaining the pirelli up front with the road six in the back. But then you sold the bike. I was wondering if you ended up having any issues with that? I'm in the same boat. The back OEM tire is shot. The front OEM has at least 1,000 if not 1500 more usable miles on it. In the short time that you had that mixed setup, did you have any issues? I'm having a road 6 mounted on the back wheel as I write this, and I have a front road six in my garage. I'm writing to get your take on whether I should go ahead and exhaust the front tire before swapping it out, or should I just go ahead and swap it? Thanks a million. PS: The pirellis are junk. I mean, they work okay. But they're not very confidence inspiring, and the back tire did not wear evenly across the footprint. I expected more from this brand. Cheers.
I had no issues at all and continue to practice the same thing. I will replace whatever tire I want without replacing the other one unless they are both due at the same time. No issues at all. Are the tires designed to work together? Yes. Does it really matter on the street? No, not at all.
Thanks for feedback! I think I'll let it ride and swap when necessary. By the way, when I went to your page to make my inquiry, I saw your most recent video about the chopper accident. Glad you got out of that one mate. I'm a retired UH 60 Blackhawk pilot (Medivac), and feel incredibly lucky to have made it to the end of my career without getting shot down or balling it up. Much love for a fellow rotor head. Cheers.
I've put over 90.000 miles on this name brand tire with a smooth comfortable ride on two heavy cruisers will definitely step up to the next level 6 . Safe rides to you all !
Hey Rambo thank you for the review on the Michelin Road 6 tire . A few guy are going on a big trip to Europe in June . Watching your review .I’m going to purchase this tyre for my Ducati V4S . Please can you tell me the full tyre size you fitted to your V4S. I know it was a long time ago xx . Much appreciated. Rich (from England ) have a great Easter .
Richard, I replace them with the exact size that it was delivered with from the factory. I made not changes to my V4S tire size. You are right, I don't remember my sizes.
@@RemboUSMC thank you xx yes it’s 170/60/17 .. thank you & keep the video coming .. they are better than watching the Tv here in good old England .. Rich d
Excellent Tire review for an excellent product. I find the tires that have gentle curves (sipes) provide smoother transitions, tires that have sharp angled sipes may create some squirrely behavior when turning... this has to do with the thrust Vector design inherent in the tire pattern. Let us know how the front Michelin 6 Tire works out.
@please. Fair enough, but… I found the smooth sipe 4 were squirelly. I think Michelin gave us the no sipe solid edge on the 5 because of that. Of course, last year we didn’t need them, (edge sipes) so marketed that as an improvement, but now they’ve upgraded the 5 by adding sipes, and marketing that as an improvement ? A bit of conflicting (bs) marketing by Michelin ? Anyhoo, the 5 were the best all year round tyre I’ve ever used.
I’ve been using Dunlop Roadsmart IV, and find them to be a very good tire in the twisties, and the rain. I had Angel GT before this set, and I’d say the Pirelli was quicker to turn in, but performance is similar. This is my first set of Roadsmart IV, so no idea yet on how many miles I’ll get, but they seem to be good so far. BTW, I ride a 2016 Multistrada.
@@tigerick7291 they’re doing great…I will definitely buy another set after these are done. Dunlop often offers a rebate on tires too, which makes the price/value even better. Overall, I’m quite happy with their performance and longevity.
So glad you made this vid, thanks. Between my last Multi and this one I’ve done about 50k miles on the Pirelli’s - albeit most of that on the Rally STRs because I was previously doing a lot more off-roading. I’ve always been happy with the Pirelli’s, but curious if I might get a little extra benefit out of a different tire selection and the Michelin’s are a consideration. Still unsure, but your vid is probably the best I’ve seen so far on the differences. Many thanks!
"Not always in a corner"? We live in very different places! 😅 Just replacing my Road 5s with 6s because the outer soft compound zone is not just flat, but actually cupped in. Center could go for a couple thousand more if I never turned. Rode onto the far edge of that cup a couple times this week which feels pretty exciting! Turn-in feels very abrupt as well. Been on (Pilot) Roads for many years and for all-weather (rarely ices here) mountain road carving, I wouldn't touch anything else. ✌️
Use these on my R1200RT for daily commute, good tyre for dry and wet, great grip with the stiffening for a heavy bike. Only complaint! Dam 'holes' at the end of sipes seem to attract nails like a damn magnet! I have thus far paid £230 for the rear tyre and over another £120 repairing 3 punctures from the damn holes! Dam Michelin!
No doubt the Michelins are great tires though take a look how the Pirellis ST II aged well. If I am not mistaken they have been on the market for 5-6 years already!
Thanks for the info. Another question is what windshield do you use on your Mulitstrada V4 S. I just purchased a 2022 and was wandering if the factory windshield is good enough. Nice hat !
Rembo, thank You for tire comparison. Can you create a video easy way to maneuver all the settings ie: traction control, heated seat, heated grips, suspension adjustment. Each video I’ve seen is Italian. If you would. Thank You in advance.
Really like the Scorpion Trail 2 on my Multi V4s, having looked around would like to try the Dunlop Mutant as a replacement. However would like to see how you get on with a Road 6 both front & rear.
Hi, as I mentioned before, this is the best road tire you can get today, I used them in my previous Multistrada and at 6k miles still look like more that half way to go, will easy last you 12k miles, now let's talk about those curvy roads you discovered 😀 😊 😄 ohh BTW that hat looks like is my size you don't even have to send it we live in the same area I can pick it up or get together the weekend for a ride 😉😉😉🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ah. I just replaced my rear tire and I was debating between the Michelin Road 5s and the Continental Road Attack 3s. I didnt know they had Road 6s. I ended up going with continentals but the Michelin ones also seemed really good.
Road attack 3 got the best in test in motorad ? real world test, 5’s were a very close second. The 6 looks just like the 5 with the longer sipes which according to Michelin on the 5 press release we didn’t need, but now we do. Don’t you just love the marketing bs ? The 5 s were excellent, so got a another set, as, thanks to the release of the 6 they are discounted a bit.
There really is no issue with mixing and matching tires as long as you are aware of the capabilities of each tire. As long as you ride within the limits of each of the tires, it should not be a problem. They are of course designed as a set and that is the best way without a doubt, but sometimes you just need to test one tire and not have to commit to both when there’s nothing wrong with one of your tires.
I wish they could offer more options of 19” like Rosso 4 corsa for example since I most of time ride on road and twisty roads 🤔 what would you say?? 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for the information. Although the original Scorpion trail 2's have not let me down once I'm changing up to a more road focused set also. At the moment I'm considering either the Road 6s or the Angel GT 2s. I've been so impressed by the Scorpion Trail's that I'll I'll probably stick with Pirelli, but every review I've seen on the Road 5s and 6s is also very impressive. It's just a shame we don't have many choices for sticky 19" fronts.
When I saw that the Michelin Road six tires had a 19 inch specifically for the Ducati, I was thrilled and it was my opportunity to try something different
Hi Rambo i’ve had 5 sets of Trail 2’s & loved em. I need tires for my V-Strom 1050. I’m thinking Bridgestone A41’s or Road 6’s. The A41 came on the bike. They are a great road tire also. Thx Ralph
Thanks for the review. Gotta say that I don't think motogp has much to do with street riding - they are at 10 10ths at all times. If that's how someone rides on the street, it won't be the tires that kill them. LOL
Michelin makes a Road 5 Trail tire sized to fit the V4, and I'm thinking of getting those when it's time for a change. 6k miles in and my rear is about a millimeter from the wear bars in the center and has the flattening down the center. Not as religious as you are with the tire pressures I'm afraid. What tire pressure are you running?
@@RemboUSMC I'm running 36 front 40 rear pretty much all the time. And I decided to go with the Road 6 tires as well. The more I learned about them they seem worth the extra money and for my type of riding should be great. The 2CT tech in the front tire that puts the harder compound all the way through to the sidewalls to add cornering stability is great for this heavier bike.
I'm interested to know why you didn't change the set straight away? I've been running Pirelli Angel GT's and love them , but I will be getting michelin pr6 next , as my bike eats tires. LMK when u get an Aprilia hat , then I'm interested. Lol
Interesting that you mixed the tyres I have road 5s back an front, wouldn't ever consider different brands for either wheel ,i ride a kawasaki sx 1000 done over 7000 Road miles on this set of tyres 90% dry roads in Wales G B, really happy with them, after the absolute rubbish that the bike had on from new, think they came with Bridgestone Battle Axe 16 absolutely appalling slip an slide, they'd track road markings frightening stuff , I will go for 5s or the road 6s when I need to change, ,Still find it weird 🤔 that you mixed tyre brands , I've been riding since I was 16 I'm just coming up to 65 never used different manufacturers, 😉
You worry too much, or you ride too fast!!! I go dumpster diving at dealership around here and have found some fantastic tires !! Guy once asked me why I had a Dunlop on the rear and a Bridgestone on the front?? Told him it was because I got them for free !!! 😀😀😀🏍🏍🍺🍺 put 205,000 miles on my Ducati st2 and in that time I "BOUGHT " !!! 5 tires !!! I have 13 tires hanging in my garage!!🍺🍺🍺🍺
General rule is that if you do run different tires. Run a stickier front than rear. I little rear end sliding is okay, but no one wants a ton of grip on the rear to only have the front tuck on you going around a turn.
How do you get so many miles out of your tyres? After 5,600 miles my rear Pirelli was through to the cords, my front had only 1mm on the sides, all the miles were done on tarmac.
@@RemboUSMC I know where you are coming from, the destruction of my rear tyre started when I had a slow puncture, the sides were falling apart, I’m the sort of guy who only has his chain adjusted when the tyres are changed. Bad boy🤣
Rembo, interesting comparison between the original tyre and the Michelin. I’ll take the Michelin tires into consideration when I need to replace. I have done about 6.5K miles with the Pirellis but I guess on a bit heavier bike (MTS 1260 Enduro with luggage and two-up from NJ to CA and back😊.)
What is your favorite tire? Comment below.
ContiTrailAttack 2, loved it in my Super Tenere.
Michelin Road 6.
I was thinking on getting that tire. The Michelin 6. Thanks for the feedback
Glad to help! Semper Fi back at you. I put them on my Pikes Peak too. I made a video about that.
I just bought these for my Ninja 400 and haven't received them yet. Glad to hear another positive review of them.
Glad I could help
Raf here. Yes, Road 6 all the way!!
Hi, broward county here. Just put the road 6 on rear recently and it’s fabulous. Will be doing same for front asap. Removed the stock Dunlop trailmax mixtour.
Very nice!
Ride Safe.
Think current exchange rate of SA rand to USA dollar is R17.00 rand to one dollar.
.
I really looked hard at the S1000XR. That is a great bike.
I get about 15 to 17000 kms out of them (50% highway speeds, 20% lane filtering thrugh trafic)
Road 6es are on the short list.
My BMW dealer has them on his GS and is totally convinced.
Great review, you explained it in detail from experience ,I'm new rider and this video helped a lot.
Thanks.
Regards from Croatia.
I'm considering a set of these when my current tires wear out.
Have had Road 3, 4 and 5 on my S1000XR and love them, can’t wait to try the 6 next, nice update on the 6.
It's a good idea to change both front and rear. They're designed by manufacturer to both work together so having differnet brands/models F/R not a great idea 👍
Totally agree
I'm on my 2nd set of road 6's. I have a ktm superduke GT and the rear lasts about 3000 miles. I ride briskly. They are fantastic in the wet cold conditions. The front is mega in all conditions. In the dry.The rear does move a bit when off throttle , but carrying speed through a corner. It's not that bad, it does move occasionally.
3000 mil really? 🤭
only 3000?? I've had the road 5's and 17000km and there's pleeenty of life left in them.
I have been using Michelin road 5 for 15000km. And it have been very positive.. for next tyre change will try the road 6.
I'm always up for your advice and reviews. I noticed straight away that you had new rubber on yours, and that it's got a slick, outer edge to it as well. Appreciate your time and effort Rembo. All the best, Mick in sunny UK.
Thanks Mick. Wear your sunscreen in the UK.
I’d always always go a matching pair. Michelin Road 6. Easy selection, easy choice.
I’ve always loved the Road 5’s and looking forward to trying out the Road 6 for sure.
Thanks for sharing all that great information. Take care brother and Semper Fi
I'm having 2 Michelins Road 6 installed on my BMW R1250 GSA. In particular for more stability and grip in wet conditions. I never get to go offroad anyway... All good!
Nice, brcause im in the market for new tires and have been searching the internet for tires. You have giving me a lead on where to go on tires.
Yay! Would be cool to get the Ducati hat! Ride safe, Rembo
Rambo, you are the man!
Nice review, I have only 3.800 kms on the odometer, but will have the Michelin in mind, when the time comes.
Do they still sell the fours?
@@RemboUSMC Not that I can see. The 5s were the replacement. The 4s are great though so the 6s should be even better.
I’m getting Road 6s fitted to my new Pikes peak before I even get it from the shop… I’ve only every ridden on the 2,3,4,5 and now 6s
Love them….Great in the wet.. Gives you so much confidence… and great longevity.
100% rate them…👊
Good choice!
I hear a lot of good things about the Metzeler tires.
Lesson learned. When it comes to motorcycle safety, there is no going cheap on tires.
The pilot 5s were the best tires i ever used on my Multistrada.
Nice review and to the point. I have the 5 now and they were super ok
I ordered those tires for my Duke 890 R to ride off season and in colder weather. I hope it’s good.
I hope so too!
I love the attributes of this tire however I don’t have the time to do big miles as I don’t commute on my bike so I’d probably go with s22, bit more grip and less expensive.
Have had the previous Michelin PR4 (Pilot Road) they have now dropped the "Pilot" from its description. Great tyres.
You convinced me ! i bought a pair of Michelin road 6 for my Multi
You will be happy with them.
Great and helpful video.
Using Road 5 now and was thinking to get Road 6 before mountain trip. Now I know I’ll will get a full set.
Thanks 😊
I currently have scorpions as well on my 2020GSA and while I have been very happy with the performance, the longevity does leave something to be desired as I've only gotten 5k km out of the rear. I am having the Road6 installed tomorrow.
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for this helpful video. Really looking for a good set of tyres for my ninja and am currently cunfused between pirellis and michelins 😄
Great Review! I know what I’m getting when these scorpions wear out
Hi Rembo, great review on the tire options. I like the hat :) I have a 2022 MSV4S on order and have been following your videos trying to get a feel for what to expect when I take delivery of my new ride.
You will absolutely love the bike.
I am seriously looking at this tire for my 2013 Multistrada. I've been running Dunlop Q3+ tires which are great with no flat spotting but don't last long overall.
Thanks for the info i am getting a set for my bike on the 18th 👍
Looks like the Road 6s took the tread from the Power 5. I’m glad they changed it because I would regularly find that angle where the 5 treads would lead to some squirreliness. Once I hear about overall longevity I’ll probably be replacing my Power 5s with these
We're they like that half worn , I ran
Pilot 4 on the back on my Kawasaki
Zxr14r , moved around a lot , but
Once they half wore , they were letting
Go badly , I took it of half warn , if you
Look at review of 3 Pilot , 4 Pilot
5 Pilot , is the same , and why are
They running the tread nearly to
The edge again (Pilot 6 ). On a lot of
Our roads in Australia they have
Lots road trains which in turn causes
Deep ruts, the roads when it wet , at times
You ride up these in the wet and already
Cornering , you need the tread right up
The sides , I saw this happen in front of
Me when my mate had a terrible slips
In the wet (Shit Michelins ) I had no
Problem on the Kawasaki , I was
Running S22 not a renowned wet
Tyres , but tread runs right out to
The edge , and dead right they hang
On in the dry
Ps The reason I talked about road
Trains is some bright spark shut down
A lot of the country (Trains) , which in turn
Means we don't need to transport any
Crops , live stock , and opening up new
Mines for Lithium , I think you get the
Point there Stuffed the roads up . You
Need these with the tread right out to
The edges !
Avon also make the new Spirit ST with a 19 inch front wheel option which i have fitted as a matched pair, they are awesome too ! big miles and all weather, inc freezing temps, grip is incredible !
Thanks for sharing!
I've always been told good rubber is key to not having an accident.
God bless.
Great information. Thank you so much for posting this.
So far they appear to be wearing slower than the originals for me. The Pirelli‘s definitely were wearing quickly or I mean faster than the Michelin‘s
Cheers.

Great information to share with us. Thank you.
How are the Roadsmart 4s doing? I'm thinking of getting some for my KTM 1290 Super Adventure.
@@tigerick7291 they’re doing great…I will definitely buy another set after these are done. Dunlop often offers a rebate on tires too, which makes the price/value even better. Overall, I’m quite happy with their performance and longevity.
nice review, might just try them on my next set
So glad you made this vid, thanks. Between my last Multi and this one I’ve done about 50k miles on the Pirelli’s - albeit most of that on the Rally STRs because I was previously doing a lot more off-roading. I’ve always been happy with the Pirelli’s, but curious if I might get a little extra benefit out of a different tire selection and the Michelin’s are a consideration. Still unsure, but your vid is probably the best I’ve seen so far on the differences. Many thanks!
Thank you for sharing your information and thank you for posting and being here.
Thanks so much for the review
No problem! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Mixing tires is a huge no for me. Why didn’t you swap em both?
Because the front is basically brand new
Awesome video, thanks for sharing !

great review!!!
Hi, my front tyre on my Multistrada always Cups 😢 from Pirelli to Metzeler all cupped! Maybe I will try the 6s next 👍
You should!
Thanks for the review! Just bought some Road 6’s for my Kawasaki N400… Send me a Ninja hat if you get one!
You got it!
Ouch!
Great job...thanks
You are welcome.
Road 5 for me, for any street riding. Angel GT2 was my favorite before.
Interesting. You take the Road 5 over the Angel GT2.

@@E_Rock Great info. The Road 6's are suppose to be even better so that's good news.
Nice hat !
Are use the factory windscreen. If I were going to do a lot of touring, I would probably upgrade to the larger touring windscreen.

How many miles did you put on those trail 2s before the swap? They look like they still got plenty of life in them.
I don't remember. That was a while ago. I thought I mentioned it in the video though.
Rembo, thank You for tire comparison. Can you create a video easy way to maneuver all the settings ie: traction control, heated seat, heated grips, suspension adjustment. Each video I’ve seen is Italian. If you would. Thank You in advance.
I do have some of that stuff up already. I could try to make more of a comprehensive video.
@@RemboUSMC , thank You, your videos have helped me tremendously, I absolutely love the V4 Multistrada Sport. Again thank you.
Really like the Scorpion Trail 2 on my Multi V4s, having looked around would like to try the Dunlop Mutant as a replacement. However would like to see how you get on with a Road 6 both front & rear.
I will always keep you informed, I would like to have a matching tire in the front but my Perelli is brand new upfront
I have a nice curve on jog Road, another one at the airport on the B line Highway, and another by the Palm Beach airport. As a little S curve there
Ah. I just replaced my rear tire and I was debating between the Michelin Road 5s and the Continental Road Attack 3s. I didnt know they had Road 6s.
I ended up going with continentals but the Michelin ones also seemed really good.
Let us know how you make out.
They also make Continental Road Attack 4s as a sidenote.
Can I say thank you for your review but I am shocked you have mixed front and back , , I’ve just brought a pair of road 6 in the uk for £297 .
@@RemboUSMC don’t know that , you never stop learning in life wh
Just put the michelins road 6 on my multi and they seems more confortable and easier to lean the bike.
I'm the winner
I wish they could offer more options of 19” like Rosso 4 corsa for example since I most of time ride on road and twisty roads 🤔 what would you say?? 👍🏻👍🏻
Te recomiendo los Metzeler sportec M9RR...en 19". (120/170)
New subscriber SoFlo on Top ✌️
Thanks for the sub
I want a multistrada v4s!
Hi Rambo i’ve had 5 sets of Trail 2’s & loved em. I need tires for my V-Strom 1050.
I’m thinking Bridgestone A41’s or Road 6’s. The A41 came on the bike. They are a great road tire also.
Thx
Ralph
Go for it!
Thanks for the review. Gotta say that I don't think motogp has much to do with street riding - they are at 10 10ths at all times. If that's how someone rides on the street, it won't be the tires that kill them. LOL
5:30 how much hard acceleration?
Michelin makes a Road 5 Trail tire sized to fit the V4, and I'm thinking of getting those when it's time for a change. 6k miles in and my rear is about a millimeter from the wear bars in the center and has the flattening down the center. Not as religious as you are with the tire pressures I'm afraid.
What tire pressure are you running?
Always 35psi in the front no matter what. 36 in the rear by myself. 38 with side bags on and 40 with full side pans and rear bag loaded.
Lol
I really want an RS660
You should never mix motorcycle tires. Especially radical designs like the road series.
@@BicZippo something I've never done , and would not ever do,
General rule is that if you do run different tires. Run a stickier front than rear. I little rear end sliding is okay, but no one wants a ton of grip on the rear to only have the front tuck on you going around a turn.
Nice job on the video. 👍🏻
Thank you!
How do you get so many miles out of your tyres? After 5,600 miles my rear Pirelli was through to the cords, my front had only 1mm on the sides, all the miles were done on tarmac.
I am very specific with my tire pressures and check them often, usually every other day that I ride sometimes every day.
@@RemboUSMC I know where you are coming from, the destruction of my rear tyre started when I had a slow puncture, the sides were falling apart, I’m the sort of guy who only has his chain adjusted when the tyres are changed. Bad boy🤣
@@RemboUSMC Bye the way, I really enjoy your channel, you always have something interesting to say, keep up the good work.
@@keirreeves766 Thank you very much and thank you for taking the time to not just watch but post.
