I have that problem now. That was an excellent video and explanation. You were professional, short and showed all necessary points. Keep ‘‘em coming. Thank you 🙏
Love the video...is there a way i can contact you, im having the same problems with my isx15 cm2350. coolant in the water separator. its been diagnosed already and they said it was fuel injector #1 and #6 thats leaking coolant from the injector cups...but they dont do this kind of job with the rings.
Thank you much for the well done video!! in case you need to remove it to replace the cup when the ring doesn't fix the problem How would you do it? is there a special tool?
I have never had that happen to me. If this ring didn't fix the problem it usually ended up being the head gasket or other issues in the head so I replaced the whole head. I do not know if there is a tool to pull them out.
@@noturaveragemechanic7121 Thank you much for your reply I found two companies that make the tool to remove the original cup without removing the head. one is call Irontite, and Industrial Injection services i dont know if this will help in any way I installed all 6 rings truck will leave on a short run for testing purposes i hope i fixed the problem thank you again
@@manuelmoreira9896 my truck is still running strong since I installed the rings Last week I notice very little coolant in the water separator…. For the first time since the repair Truck has 1.1 mill miles … I think it’s time to do an overhaul Unfortunately the rings are not a definitely fix Good luck
@@adanponce4401 thank you for the response how long it's been after you installed the ring ? I did an imframe to my engines 3 Monta ago did not put a new head I only had it rectified at the machine shop I agree I think rings may not be best option in the long run I think I ll.justndo the injector cups to be done with it
@@noturaveragemechanic7121 hey thanks for the reply!! I think it's a 871 I'm not exactly sure.it's a 2008 ISX 435 St dual overhead cam. And yeah it seems to have that problem this is the second time and 3 years I talked to Cummins and yeah it looks like I'm going to have to put another head on it... For some reason the retainer ring repair is only available in the sohc.
Clearance no, new bolt, no. I did torque it later but completely forgot to film it. I'm out here simply trying to help owner operators and small time mechanics get a job done
@@noturaveragemechanic7121 those bolts stretch out after one use/torque down so when you torque it down again it’ll be at the wrong spec. If you checked clearance you wouldn’t have to do it twice. Just trying to help bud
you forgot to tell viewers that you got to use a depth gauage & mic those rings should be from the top of the deck to the top of the ring should be no less than 69 or more , bone heads but thanks for the ring part number 368883

I ran the serial number on the engine and it came back as not needed. So this is ISX specific? The ring is a recall on these motors.
Should have sucked the excess fuel and water outta the cylinder that’s what that first hard start was. Very hard on everything
thanks for the video can this be done to a cm871 ? my isx has duel cam's ? do they make a tool for it as well?
I do not know the answer that. I wasn't aware the older model isx engines had that problem

I have a 04 isx 565 and I'm getting fuel in coolant is that the same problem rings
I personally have never had the issue and don't have the knowledge to answer that. It seems like it's possible though.

Paris TX area
What’s the shop name or address?
Were can I locate these rings
Online. Cummins doesn't build them anymore
@@noturaveragemechanic7121 they are still out there found them and the same tool for cheaper
Cummins
Didn’t torque it down. Didn’t check clearance after installation and didn’t use new bolts for injector hold downs. Yikes.

Part number?
368 883; its also in the description along with the tool for installation! Thanks for watching!!
What’s the torque spec on the ring when installed ?
77inch lbs 1st turn 30lb and then 60. And 60 on the quil tube
On another video, the mechanic was measuring the seat depth of the ring from top of the injector opening. Supposed to be a minimum of 69mm.
I just get 6 at Cummins. Part # 4312298
Ring, retaining
After I installed rings my truck idles at 1000 rpm now and suggestions
