- This is a detailed video of how to install a genuine Cummins piston and liner kit after cylinder block is counterbored to .020. The cylinder head gasket fire ring was blown on #5 cylinder. This is a typical failure we see on Cummins ISX15 truck engines around the 750,000 mile mark. The weak link in the cylinderblock is typically around #5 and #6 cylinders on the passenger side of the engine. The video is short and sweet, but very helpful when building these engines.

Keep up good work.
Did he just drop that piston onto the crank?!

Great video keep up the good work
Gosh I don't like that rod hitting the crankshaft without someone to catch it.
Yep more tools to buy
Not supposed to stack shims
So the block was counterbored. The second shim brings the block back to factory spec. The block had to be counterbored because the liner was chattering it’s way down into the block causing the head gasket to leak. Hope this helps
What was final pertrusion
Never use two shims!!!!!!!
The book says you can use the factory shim and the 20 thousands shim
