    This is the best video on UA-cam, how to change window regulator without disconnection of mechanical parts and main wiring connectors around the door, just small things and job is done. Awesome work, Sir. 👌👍👍I repeated your way and it took me one hour and half without any experience. Wow! And this is just after couple of times watching your video. Thank you very much, my friend. You saved me 300$ of shop work. All that cost me in this repairs was aftermarket part - 70$ only. I saved on part too, because in Canada Mopar regulator cost between 197-250$$ plus tax.

    Normally, this is something I would rather pay someone else to do. However, when your window won't go up and it's the rainy season, it needs to be done in a hurry. I watched this video and then called my local Chrysler dealer who actually had the part in stock. An hour or so later, my window is working like new again. Thanks for the video!

    Thanks bro for showing me that I didn't have to unclip that hidden lock rod and completely remove the inner panel. I literally watched 2 videos where they broke the clip. But nobody had a good shot of the clip. Then you came along and snuck the regulator right in. Thanks

    I wanted to thank you for this video. My wife came home distraught as she rolled down the window, heard a loud crack, and it wouldn't roll back up.
    Found your video as the number 1 search result and followed it all. Took me an hour and a halfish with the tools you mentioned. I got an aftermarket that did line up OK, thankfully. It was $60.

    MOSTLY PERFECT METHOD! Slamming window down was not necessary, I found out the hard way. Luckily, I used 2 smaller suction cups that helped me raise the glass back up. With those smaller cups, I carefully moved the glass down and rested it on each nylon attachment, THEN with a forceful push each clicked in place. ALSO: Knocking out the old nylon attachments with screwdriver and hammer was BRILLIANT! AND... , THANKS SO MUCH for covering the Auto-Up Learning process so many other UA-camr techs failed to mention.

    One note though, I did find it easier to take the two screws out of the door handle and to take the handle out whole rather than the door release clip. Then you still have access to the door when you have to drive the van around and wait on the part.

    Excellent video! This was by far the easiest way to replace the regulator. Anyone thinking of replacing their regulator, this is the way to do it. It took my neighbor and I just over an hour to complete it. We used the O'Reilly Dorman part and it fit perfectly. When the glass slammed in and locked, it made the sweetest sound, haha. Thank you for sharing this procedure.

  • @brassbender43

    I also used your suggested short cut to place the regulator assembly in position. Not removing the inner door panel sped up the process. Being mindful that I was attaching an after market regulator, I left the 1/4 inch nuts, for the spooler a little lose for adjustments and then tightened them when the entire assembly was in position. I had to drill a wider opening, in the door panel, for one of the 30 torx screws to match up to the inner regulator frame . I was very concerned about breaking the window, so I used a cut wheel, on dremel tool, to remove the tabs on the window connectors. That allowed me to disconnect the window without putting a lot of strain on it. The process of slamming the window down on the new connectors was also a big help in reattaching the window to the new assembly.

    I just finished doing my neighbor's van as a favor (she's broke). Only tools needed, a chair, flat screwdriver, drill (preferably Bosch), 10mm socket with 1/4 to 3/8 adapter for drill, T20, T27 torxs, needle nose, HF suction cup $2.49. window cleaner, WD40, paper towels
    I told my neighbor about the better Chrysler regulator (170.00), but she couldn't afford it so she got one from O'Rielys $57 (with lifetime warranty) made in Taiwan, it defiantly looks less robust than the removed Chrysler part.
    It really wasn't that hard to install thanks to your amazing video. For me, the trick for installing the imperfect regulator is to- like you said "put the window up out of the way", then put the two bottom screws in first then attach the motor. Now it is easier to manipulate the regulator from the top side to get your last two slightly off screws in.
    I did break a couple of white tabs pulling the door panel off (maybe a door panel tool might have helped, maybe not) but there was still plenty left for a solid mount, note the cover by the mirror just pulls straight off.
    Thanks again!

    Thank you for this excellent video, which unfortunately I landed on after wasting time watching a poorly made video. The speed at which you work is indeed professional, and the choice to merely narrate the work after the fact is excellent. Great tips to tighten the panel to assist with the leverage required when screwing the regulator back into place.
    I completed a similar repair this afternoon, slipping the regulator behind the panel without removing it. Is there another way to get the glass into the clips without slamming it? It took a few tries and unfortunately when trying to reseat it, we broke the (brand new) front clip. But having 1 still clipped in appears to be getting the job done just fine. It's a 2010 after all....

    Excellent instruction video but I think I missed something. You took the motor off and let it dangle while you pulled out the regulator, but most regulators I see for sale have a motor attached. • @PowerUpAuto
      @PowerUpAuto  4 роки тому

      Correct on all counts. Best is to reuse the top quality Mexico made window motor and just replace the window regulator. You do NOT need to buy this with the motor.

    • @wondersteven
      @wondersteven 4 роки тому

      Thought I would drop in again after I installed my regulator. It went as well as your excellent video. BTW, thanks for choosing the route of filming first and narrating later. It's nice to hear clear, concise instructions without having to compete with somebody's boombox in the background. My install on my '08 Chrysler T&C went about the same as your video with these minor differences. I have a preferences button so I had one more wire connection I had to remove. My regulator was frozen and would not allow the window to slide up enough for me to disengage it from the white brackets so to remedy, I just drilled a couple of ½" holes in the plastic backing and then was able to whack the window out. Perhaps I could have cut the cables inside and I might have been able to raise the window enough that way but didn't think of that until after the regulator was on the floor. I bought the Dorman brand. Compared to my 12.5 YO Chrysler part, it looks like the metal frame is a little thinner, the bottom window travel stop is just bent over vice the large rivet in the Chrysler configuration, and the cables seemed to be not as heavy duty as the original Chrysler part. Time will tell. BTW, the original lasted in my car 12.5 years and 195K miles, which equates to a lot of Starbuck drive up windows that I had to roll my window down for. Not too difficult reassembling. You may have mentioned and I missed it that the regulator needs to sit in the plastic cover. But I got it in. The take-up reel had to be loosened from the regulator frame, adjusted with the mounting bolts and retightened. After that motor went on fine and the rest was like your video. One other thing I would like to mention is I had to transfer from the old regulator to the new the rubber bumpers that poke through the top pulley assemblies on the regulator. Perhaps a can of silicone would have made that a little easier but did not have any with me so I gently used a small screwdriver to push it through the old pulley. And then of course the bolts that held the take-up reel to the regulator had to be reused for the new regulator. Again great job on the video, saved me some money.

I was in a parking lot at the time only going < 5mph,. Actually stopped and jumped out to see what could have made that noise. My wife thought maybe the mirror was been bumped and suddenly snapped back into place on its own, so I tried to roll down the window to check the mirror. As soon as hit the power down button, the window just dropped (there might have been a loud sound just before that - happened too fast for me to remember clearly). Does this sound like it is the regulator? Someone else mentioned a cable snapping. Could that have been what I first heard? Does the cable come with the regulator?

      The regulator is the cables and cross brackets. Yes, that is what the problem is.

    what is the name and or part number of the module that wires from the drivers window switch to the module that is shown inside the same drivers door right above the door speaker. The wires from the doorswitch that control the rear view mirrors front windows and locks. I was trying to open the windows by a jumper and seemed to have blown up the unknown module i mentioned. Unless its a fuse but i checked all the m fuses with a meter all were good and didn't see any of the clear bigger fuses metal jumpers blown up.

      There are a few. Call your local Chrysler dealer with the Vin Number for the correct module. Runs around $120. Also, check ALL your fuses (not the larger silver circuit breakers) First.

      @@PowerUpAuto i did check all the smaller fuses. A part number i got from mopar 5026861AE called a left door module. The Dodge dealer wanted 249. I couldn't find it at rock auto for some reason. Any suggestions online where i could get it none of the local auto part stores had it.

    Window is all the way down on the vehicle i'm working on. Do I need to take off speaker & all the stuff you did from behind?

    • @PowerUpAuto
      @PowerUpAuto  4 роки тому

      You will need to remove the speaker and the window motor to push the window back up or to replace the window regulator

      There is a hole in the glass where that white clip is. I've done over 500 of these and yet to break a glass.
