Man, you need to make courses. Your works are better, than many course makers ive seen. I started to learn blender, and your video give much inspiration. But i cant find really good course to learn correctly, not random :D
Lots of hard work. Animations are smooth and details make the difference, it’s awesome! I love the music you added to your showreel. Its really better with it. Is it possible to know where you found it?
Dang dude, music too? I am thoroughly impressed! I am also a scifi junkie (as it seems you are) and I love every bit of your story telling with your models and worlds. Have you done any work for films or games yet?
Thanks Daniel, I am currently working as a Freelancer in VFX. You can see some of the things I’ve worked on here www.imdb.com/name/nm10499831/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0
This is simply amazing! If there weren't minor rendering artefacts I wouldn't have beliefed this is a personal reel. It really looks like extracts from some high budget sci-fi movies because the CGI is just way too good. You've got my respect!
Amazing work man! This blows my mind! I´d like to make things the way you do but I only have one year of experience using Blender, I have to practice more and more, maybe in 2030...Thanks for the inspiration!
Oh my goodness Neil this is truly and utterly and absolutely remarkable!! Not only is your work so immensely inspiring but you really have exceeded the absolute boundaries of Blender well beyond it's very limits!! Absolute fantastic cgi mastery in it's entirety! 👍👏👏
Currently making a short-film using a lot of Blender/VFX that I've put a lot of time and resources into, wondered if you'd be interested in taking a look.
How did you make the landscape for the Saturn V rocket on the launch pad? Did you model it yourself or just model the rocket and crawler and composite it in a video?
The landscape is a photograph that I mapped on to some simple geometry. The rocket and crawler were modelled separately along with some of the other buildings, cars and birds.
Amazing... I am a newbie playing with cubes still :) is it all done in blender? Doo i need no learn nuke or fusion for finishing bigger types of scenes in the future?
First off.. amazing work! Truly amazing! My only critique and it does not reflect your skill at all is that there are a few spots especially in the SW sections where you see the white artifacts. Other than that.. so good. Keep it up, please!
Thanks. You are correct about the “fireflies” in one part, I was using an early version of the denoiser at the time and never got around to re-rendering with the newer versions.
@@madex3d120 I can’t recommend any particular source. I learned by trying to make things that I wanted to make and when I ran into a particular problem, looked for a tutorial that covered that topic.
@@Neil_Taylor thank you for answering. May be my question is something generic, for everyone who want to answer. I was wondering how long does this stuffs take to render normally, and if you use great GPU's or something. With my gtx-1060 6gb it takes to me 3 weeks to render 2000 frames more or less. I'm starting with blender and it would be great to render fast. Is there an optimal size in frames for an animation to be normal, a commond duration or something? which is the minimum GPU you consider decent for this? (if someone or you would like to answer, if not don't care. I understand we have no time, just finding opinions). Great work.
@@neo_101 3 weeks to render 2000 frames seems to be excessive (15 mins per frame). I generally try to keep render times below 3 or 4 minutes per frame and animation length from 250-500 frames (24fps). Samples are usually at around 250 and denoise is on. I have a gtx980 6gb, which will render that overnight normally.
@@Neil_Taylor 4 min per frame sounds good compared to mine, and with a lower GPU. I have to improve this. I render a frame at around 9:30 min. It's taking to me the 3 weeks 24 hours a day.. I also rendered 30fps for inserting it in a 30fps video but I think I'll do it 24fps anyway. Thank you. I think it will be useful. Good luck.
I started learning blender (with no previous 3D experience) in 2011. You can see from my reels over the last 9 years how I have progressed. I would say that I am still learning and hopefully still getting better.
Theses Sci-if scenes are incredible and have so much originality in them. So refreshing! Fantastic work!

I really hope to get as good as you one day...
Great visuals
So you did you do post processing in blender as well ?
Thanks Athil, it’s all done in blender, although I did edit the reel together with DaVinci Resolve.
@@Neil_Taylor nice ,
I somehow finds blender compositing quit intimidating.
🤣🤣
I think you should work with Marvel
Impressive quality. Congrats. Do you had some problems with closing program in the middle of renders?
Thanks. I think I have had issues closing newer builds of blender occasionally.
What is the hdri you used at 2:13? I must know! good work my good sir!
It’s one of the pro lighting sky sunsets from Andrew Price.
Amazing work, congratulations!

How many samples do you usually use when rendering for photorealism?
Usually around 200-300

Incredibly awesome..
Impressive and envy making for modelers ;-)
This is incredible! Keep up the good work mate, well impressed.
Thanks Nathan 🙂
It's incredible work man! :)
Fantastic work, bravo!
Absolutely love the shining bathroom
Why did you render it at 24 FPS? It looks very shuttery.
24 FPS is the standard frame rate in film.
Nice work!
This is incredible, the detail is insane, the emotions and story behind each shot are superb, and the music is great! Well done!
That's awesome, Neil!
that was really good how many years experience

Blender for everything except texturing, which was done in Substance Painter.

To be honest I don’t do a lot of compositing, I like to get something like the end result in the render.

@@Neil_Taylor ?

Hello, do you use cycles rendering? It's really great
Yes, all cycles.
wow was this all in Blender, was any in Unreal?
All blender.
Which render engine did you use vray, cycles or octane?
Cycles
All that in cycles! Wow, your work is incredible. Your environments are so real. You are an inspiration
How did you make the puddles in that landing scene?
That is simply a plane with a material that has glossy patches to simulate water.
Neil Taylor did you use a noise texture or did you paint it?
That one was done in Substance Painter, but a noise texture would work also.
Neil Taylor thanks man. Amazing work!
