Love this Vlog! Just got a 71 VW my sons and I are going to, not necessarily restore, but make our own. Look forward to more of your posts!
That's awesome! Congrats! While I appreciate a great restoration, its fun to personalize them. Best wishes on your project. I know you're going to enjoy it. :)
I love the surfboard theme on the interior... You need a roof rack to throw a board on.
I've been thinking about that! :)
i love your bug and leave the hole in the headliner looks good
Love the VW! My son and I are working on our 69 Ghia that we saved from the car crusher!✌️ Hope to see you on the road!
Brings me back to my vdub days. I had a 69 and 77 beetle and the one that got away was a 1967 bus.
You didn't really go over the seats, but was nice to get a closer look at them. They're kind of Mad Maxish lol. Cool how you did the paint/rust. My vdub's sun visors are still doing that sprinkle stuff. I should probably replace them one of these days, they're pretty bad. Another great video, thanks
You're right, I didn't really talk about the seats. Guess I forgot once I got started. Lol Maybe I'll talk about them in another video. Thanks for watching!
No worries! They're so unique and cool looking, understandable that there's a lot of interest in them.
I'm curious about the seats too.
do you have fb?
Yes, facebook.com/vanepinstriping
I don't like what you did to it, but I love how much loving care you put into it and I love how thoroughly you enjoy it 😊
I Just found your Channel and i Love it. Keep it up the good vibe. Greetings from brazil.
You Have the gift, a Rare Lady with Bugs!!!
That stereo idea is cool! Makes me think about trading in my Sapphire radio so I can listen to Elton John as I drive. But, I love having it bone stock and my glovebox is full of stuff. I love how you've created such a personalized atmosphere inside your car.
Thank you! Time to clean out the glovebox and move the stuff to the bonnet! lol I love having a good stereo. Originally I wasn't going to put one in, in fact when I drove cross country I used my iPad and a bluetooth speaker I bought off Amazon. It mostly was because I didn't trust anyone to install a system....she's is my baby after all. Then I met the guys at Sounds So Good and saw their quality work and felt comfortable handing her over to them. I'm really glad I did!
Yes, it looks like they did great work! Your VW looks like a wonderful place to spend your commute.
Holy exposed wire Batman! Those seats are crazy. Nice video, really fun. I like the bug......but.....it should be a Baja. Jusk kidding. You personalized it to suite you and I love that.
Great stuffs!! I plan on doing a flat paint job on my car! I really dig the way yours came out!!
Thank you! I love the flat look on bugs, hope your's turns out great!
Vané Pinstriping, its a work in progress, stop by an check her out. Her names Bella. She's the orange one..
Will do! :)
This channel is so rad! I have a 1986 Scirocco that is my weekend warrior. Really want a daily beetle now lol Thanks for putting up these videos. They are interesting. Nice little peak into dailying an old VW and how it is actually do able. Who needs new cars (;
Sweet Chic ! Great presentation
Thank you for the great video. I'm enjoying watching your videos. I LOVE YOUR BUG!!
Cant wait to buy my first old bug this year when i finish my around the world trip.
greetings from Germany :)
Thank you! :)
Vane, I just fell in love with your Bug all over again :) this video is such a treat! getting to know more personal details on your Beetle is like unfolding Magic, very inspired and impressed. I'm more than happy to have my own VW Bug and appreciate seeing other people having a blast with it :D
Thank you, much appreciated! I like seeing people enjoy their VW's too. :)
+Vané Pinstriping I'm also looking forward to the story behind your seats. haha. I wanna know about it since the first video I saw ur BUG
I'll talk more about those soon! :)
I LOVE your channel and your Bug so much in fact that I had to buy one myself. It’s a 1970 beetle and I love her! I love your content and can’t wait to see more!
Awesome, congrats on your Beetle! Thanks for watching!
I don't have a stereo in mine. But I do have seats. They are not perfect, but they are not trashed. Someday I will get a cheap reupholstery job done on them. I had to replace some floor pans, and I just did the floor with truck bed liner, no carpet. I am a mechanic, and built the engine myself. No heater, don't need one here in Phoenix, AZ. I have the stock ride height, but I'm planning on a new beam, new steering gear, and front disc brakes at some point in the future.
Love your vids.. I have a daily 67 nothing better. Love your bug. Your too cool !!
Thank you! Sweet, another daily driver! :D
What a lovely video and what a super Beetle. I was shocked to find out the patina isn't genuine, you've done a top job. Mine will need a respray sometime soon, this could be the way forward!!
Wow I love your bug and what you did with it! I recently just got my first bug a 1970 and it's been a fun car to drive! It's a dream come true! I really like the coffee bean bag it looks really awesome!
Thanks so much, I appreciate it!
Love the bug .The seats drive me crazy .I reupholster for a living soooo! Had a 2001 wrangler and loved driving it off road and the top down in the summers .
It really does look awesome!!
Thanks!!
Hand stich the hole in the head liner, adds to the character of the Bug.
Nice seeing you again, Vané. The car is really good. You should make similar seat covers for the front seats.
Thank you! Nah....I like the front seats the way they are. :D
I thought the same thing, more coffee bags
Nice tour. The stereo is cray cray!!
Thanks...man you should hear it. Even more cray in person!! lol
ha ha!!!
Awesome bug tour!
Thanks!
Smiles, Glad to see you post a vid of your great VW !!! Nice Seat's Wonder if any one else has done this :) lol So maybe I should do a vid of mine Soon.
I saw this other person crazy enough to do it to their bug too! haha Cool to hear from ya man! Hope you're doing well. :)
I'm doing great, And yeah thanks for following my desire in VW's ")
Thanks for the great idea! :)
Maybe double sided tape for the tear in the headliner ? Fold it up, like a taco and maybe that would work, when it gets warmer, I have to try that on my bus... I love stock VW headliners.
Hey Vane! I drive my 70 Bug everyday. One tip is to get rid of that plastic fuel filter from the engine bay
Yeah, I know some engine fires have been started by having the fuel filter there. I make sure to replace it and keep on eye on the lines (replaced those not too long ago), I keep the clamps on too for extra protection. Fingers crossed but so far it's treated me well. 😊
Yea I'm sure you'll be fine as long as you're checking it.
your bug is awesome! Are those dual solexs? and I love the idea the guy pulled off with the subs and still having space between for storage. Love the videos!
YEAROB yes they are she said in the video
Thanks! Yes, dual sole carbs. :)
The concept for this beetles' body is exactly what i had in mind... Great Bug, love the hidden radio idea... I just had my stock radio replaced a couple of hours ago... Damn it. I guess il be a copycat as usual lol great vid.✌️🤘🤙
Thanks!! I love the hidden radio. I love her sound system, makes even more fun to ride. 😄
I did a similar thing to my split ute but used a sand blaster instead of sanding it, looks amazing.
Oh cool, what year is your Split? Thanks!
its a 63 aussie build thats my wifes ;) can send you pics of it if you like?@@vanepinstriping
Sure! Can you message them to me on FB?
Vané Pinstriping ok cool will do🙏
nice video Vane - the bug is yours so you should make it the way you like it. Still, be careful that you keep it drivable. When you lower it and mess with camber it impacts how it handles...can become a safety issue! ( I know - these bugs aren't particularly safe to begin with) Enjoy!
Thanks! Yeah, it's lowered just enough, nothing too crazy. I definitely want to keep it driveable. 😁
Hi Vane.
you are so cool and your bug is even cooler. . .personalisation is what makes beetles the best. .my bug is currently in a million pieces as i am restoring her! there is a guy on youtube with a bug called manyrd. .you should check that out. its way cool too.
Hi James, Thanks! Good luck on your restoration! I'll check manyrd out too. :) Cheers!
Love the bug !
Thanks!
I from Brazil , this my fist video from you!
I like soo much this beetle, especially seat !
Thank you! Thanks for watching and commenting too. The seats are popular. Lol I like them too 😁
Awesome.... Nice door panels..
Thank you, I love what he did with them! :)
cool jeep ! I have krazy glued headliner rips back together ...sometimes I used other scrap pieces of headliner over the rip...be careful with krazy glue !!!
Thanks for the suggestion!
Love the seats!
Thanks!
nice beetle ! kisses from Brazil
Love ur Bug !
Rock On !
🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
Thanks!
Vane love the patina I live in South Florida and way to close to the ocean so I need to keep a think paint job and clear coat on mine, damn salt air. But I Love my 74 super conv.
Thanks!
I falled in love with my 66 vw bug,
I had a '66. Wish I still did.
Very nice
Thank you!
Wonderful
nice car !
Thank you! She's my baby :) Thank you for watching and commenting!
Nice!!
Thanks!
Hi Vane!!, Love your tour of the bug and all the quirky things about your cute ride. Do u service the car yourself? If not then I would give it a whirl. It's amazing how much work you can do yourself. I just pulled the motor out of my Kombi to fix an oil leak. Took about 2 hours. Start small and within a few months you will be an expert at fixing things to help preserve her. You tube helps of course. George
Thanks George! Yes, I do her routine maintenance and try to learn how to fix things whenever I can. I love working on her!
Just take the leather and hay pads off your seats and they'll look similar to hers. I did it and used a little cushion foam, fabric, eyelets, and twine to do mine. I think there in one of my videos.
love the patina!
Thanks!!
awesome
Hey Vane! I like your Video! I have a Samtrot Mexico 1200 VW Bug from 1985. Greetings from Germany! Markus G.
Thanks! Cheers!
If I have enough canister with it,
I come times with you go ahead.
Just ask how long I'm on the road ??
I just got a 76 bug today hoping on getting it on the road soon
Awesome, congrats and good luck getting it back on the road!
Great video, I love vw bug !!!
I like your vw, if it were possible change the place of the fuel filter, in that position it can catch fire. Greetings
good job girl
Thanks!
I seen in Jay Leno garage episode them saying they put linseed oil to protect paint and keep that rust look.👍
Always nice to see that bug...
Thanks!
I need to get another old bug, I have a 2014 they’re fun but not the same.
nice bug
Thanks!
Awesome channel and bug! I'm currently saving to buy a '72 Beetle, I have my eye on one in a shed near our farm, it seems pretty good and is the same blue as yours! Anyway, I've subbed, so see ya around!
Thank you, thanks for checking it out and subbing! Good luck on the bug, I hope you're able to get it. You'll love it! :)
I have been to japan and I have a 68 bug! japan is temporary bugs lasts for ever 😉 if you ever go to sweden I would love to let you go for a ride in my bug :)
That was my theory....Japan isn't going anywhere. LOL Its still not he bucket list, I know I'll make it there one day in the near future. :) Thank you for the invite! :)
Love your videos! I thought you're going to blast the audio in your bug though... anyway, will you do one in future? Cheers!
Thanks! I've tried catching the sound system on camera, it just doesn't work. :(
Very nice car! I just bought a 71 squareback!
Thank you and congrats on the squareback!
I don't think you'd regret a good stereo...makes cruising all that much more fun! :)
Vané Pinstriping I want to do the same thing you did. Install a custom stereo in the glove compartment and keep the classic one still intact.
And thank you! Super exited about it.
That's the way to do it....in my opinion! haha Thank you for watching and commenting!
Lots of Personal taste - the seats and rusty patina. That beetle restored to its original colour would increase in value.
Nice bug i love it
Thank you! :)
I saw a guy that had a patina bug and and on the front of it he had a tag that said "it is finished d***head" lol. Guess he got tired of people asking when he was gonna finish it.
LOL People ask me all the time! Especially when am I going to paint it..... I can't really blame them tho, just look at it. hahaha
I have a 72 super and a 73 beetle the super is a long term project and the 73 has become a daily driver. Are your brakes terrifying in traffic? I had a few emergency stops missing the line on an intersection by about 8 feet. I never feel like the car can stop safely. I will probably upgrade to disc brakes in the front. I have new shoes and hardware and a new master cylinder to help but it made no difference in stopping power or pressure needed to brake. for now I just give my self about 10-15 car lengths when driving
my low key crush and we got the sme car
gotta like this channel a chick who likes beetles, pinstripes and hand paints letters. OMG if I were female maybe I would be you ha ha. plus your videos are really well done. I know mine suck pretty much but hey the information is good.
hahaha, Thanks for the follow!
I wish my wife was into bugs. It would be a lot more fun. She just thinks it’s junk.
@@nittygrittykitchen you are not alone. mine doesnt like it at all and i have two lol
Any chance you would do a video showing how to cold start your VW ? What to do with the gas pedal on a cold start.
Yeah, I'll add it in to an upcoming video.
If auto choke just tap the pedal to set the choke and start
Just add linseed oil. It will protect and look nice.👍
I had a 73 bug. I have always regreted selling it.
I know I would regret it, if I sold mine too.
nice job on the Hokusai, seats would help keep you warm...
What wit the seat did they come like that will u ever cover them or leaving them they do t look very comfortable to sit in
As for the hole in the headliner, honestly I think I would just use of of those curved sewing needles and thread. Sooner is probably better than later. You know, before it rips further and you have to replace the whole headliner. The windows would have to come out for that.
Thanks for the suggestion!
I reckon a patch that stands out would look pretty cool, maybe match the coffee bag?
It's all history ;)
Eu não falo inglês mas quando o assunto é fusca ai a fala é universal
make sure your Beetle engine has cooling flaps and a working thermostat. lots of people remove the cooling flaps. a big no no especially where u live in a cooler climate. without the thermostat your car will always run cold. Means your engine will wear out sooner. much sooner.
Thanks, appreciate the info!
What petrol do you use in it?
Hello, I have a 1977 Beetle and also use double carburetion. I think it's beautiful the patina style here in Brazil we call ratlook. Car li short your videos.
Nice! Thank you!
What are you front and rear tire sizes??
I want 1
What exhaust do you have on that bad boi
nice
~ Hey Vané, what State is this in, I know you don't live there anymore.
What about your seats?
How much did you pay for your Beetle? I love the sky blue color!
Like the beetle more than the jeep :)
you should change your seats to low backs and strip them like you have .
Cool idea but I like that they're the original seats to the bug. :)
😍💕
If the clear breaks down get some Ankor Wax.
Thanks for posting this video Vane. Still wondering about your seats. Love the pin strips. You did a great job on those. You can pin stripe mine if you want LOL. Keep the videos coming. Love watching them.
Thanks! Yes, I realize now I didn't really talk about the seats....have to catch them next time! 😁
Is this with stock engine?
Just found you on utube awesome bug and vws plus the pin stripping is top drawer !! Anyway keep up the good vids and work , no subscribed vwcoco/Facebook uk
Ya, ok. But I’m still curious about the choice of seat upholstery 😁
😂
Hey, could you please just post a quick comment on this video (as opposed to doing another vid just about the seats) to tell us a little bit about your aesthetic with the seats? Thanks!
I’m sorry, I’m not sure I understand. What do you mean exactly?
Vané Pinstriping , I caught up on some of your videos, saw the explanation for the seats. So not sure what Peach means either.
Sorry, I had just seen this video for the first time and hadn’t had a chance to go thru your other posts. You probably already explained and I’m sorry to ask you to repeat if u had. I was hoping you would give a quick overview of why you had the seats like they are, just like you did for the paint. Beautiful job on your bug, though. I’m a painter, Architecture preservation teacher.
😘😘😘😘😘😍😍😍😍😍
Hey Vane my name is jag I am a new scrubber to your channel I love your Beale I like the Patrina look you have done an awesome job I like the idea of you putting the coffee bag as your Seatcover I just like to ask you does it smell like coffee in the morning when you sit in the car? And what are you going to do with the front seats? And get the car really low and put a really noisy exhaust that would be awesome. 👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌👌🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️💯💯💯🙌🙌🙌 jag uk🏎🏎🏎🐶🐶🐶🏍🏍🏍🍻🍻🍻 by the way I race a old classic mg maestro.
Thanks for checking out and subbing! No, it doesn't smell like coffee, unfortunately. That would be awesome if it did. lol The classic air-cooled VW smell overpowers it, which is ok, I like that smell too. haha
Hello Vane,
nice video again and a lot of questions are now answered!
Hajo from Germany again!
Tomorrow my daughter Lina and I will go with our green Bug to Hannover to visit the so called "Maikäfertreffen".
Every year on the first of May there is a big event of aircooled VW from all over Europe in Hannover! Last year 3000 cars and almost 20000 people visited this event. You can see bugs in different styles like the cool California-, German- and Rat-Style. Here are some pictures from last year:
www.maikaefertreffen.de/content_photos/2016/index.html
WOW! That's awesome! That would be so cool to see that many air-cooled VW's in one place. Hope y'all enjoy your trip! Cheers!
How does she behave in the freeways? Can you do long drives at 65 or 70 mph? Are the engine and transmission strong enough for daily driving?
She does great and can go 70 easily but I baby her and drive only about 55-60. She does great long distances, drove cross country, take her on a few hundred mile trips each summer without problems.
I love your 'vw beetle .but seats
Look very hard sit on.
Not as bad as they look. :)
