      Thanks, desmoface. Yes, I still like it. Is it perfect? No. I do experience inconsistent distribution at times when spreading larger prill products at lower settings

    I had the exact same Scott spreader and decided to go with the Brinly for the bigger tires and more robust looking unit. But the linkage system is terrible.

    • @BlackHoleDIY
      @BlackHoleDIY  Рік тому

      Yeah, definitely a lot of play in the linkage system. I haven't been able to compare it to similar units made by others, but there are certainly opportunities for improvement.

      I made the mods you made and it’s a huge improvement. TY. I think this is going to workout ok.

    Nice review and assembly info! what is the measurement in between outside of the tire to outside the other tire? Some spreaders give measurement of tub and not over all, I am short on storage space. Thanks!

    • @BlackHoleDIY
      @BlackHoleDIY  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Ray. Once assembled, the overall width of the spreader (outer distance between tires) is just about 22.5". Let me know if there are any other dimensions you'd like me to take for you.

    How far does it throw granular product? Amazon lists the spread pattern at 8-12 feet. Is that accurate and how do you tone down the spread pattern?

    • @BlackHoleDIY
      @BlackHoleDIY  4 роки тому +2

      I would say the description is accurate (10+ feet for me). How far the spreader throws is dependent on the product and walk speed. Toning it down would require a slower walk, but be sure to adjust (reduce) the setting accordingly since your walk speed doesn't affect the rate the material flows out of the hopper.

      @@BlackHoleDIY is it 10ft for the left side and 10ft for the right side, or is it 10ft total. I hope this question makes sense. TIA.

    • @BlackHoleDIY
      @BlackHoleDIY  4 роки тому +2

      Hi Louis. The more I've used it, I'm finding the spread to be closer to 12 ft. with most products, 6ft. on each side.

    Is this the same spreader as the Earthway 2150? I would like to use the side deflector from brinley on my 2150.

    • @BlackHoleDIY
      @BlackHoleDIY  2 роки тому

      I know the new 2150s include the SideSpread-Control that eliminates the need to use a side deflector. So, the newer 2150 is not the same as the Brinly. It sounds like you may have an older 2150 in which case I can only assume the frame is identical to the Brinly, but I can't say for sure. I've never seen a 2150 in person or side by side with a Brinly.

    Did you get an agitator for the hopper or is it just that cotter pin? I wish mine came with the side deflector kit, I ordered it but it didn't come with my spreader.

    • @BlackHoleDIY
      @BlackHoleDIY  4 роки тому +1

      It has the cotter pin that came with it. The side deflector is nice, especially for the narrower areas of the yard due to the wider spread pattern as compared to my Scotts Edgeguard unit. I think you'll like it. I'm still learning my settings for various products since I haven't found a comparable spreader that's listed on the bags and I'm finding the settings table in the manual tends to be on the lighter side (strictly based on my experience).

    • @brantinpUSMVMC
      @brantinpUSMVMC 4 роки тому

      Great thank you! So you're saying that the cotter pin is the agitator?
      I'm wondering if the settings are similar to the Earthway spreader, maybe you could check that out.

    • @BlackHoleDIY
      @BlackHoleDIY  4 роки тому +1

      Yes, the pin agitates the material. I thought the same about the Earthway. I've used the Lesco conversion chart available online since most products list at least one of the spreaders on that chart, but if I use the referenced Earthway setting it doesn't work out. Since so much is affected by walk speed and other variables I'd love to hear your experience once you get going. I think the Titan spreader would be a good comparison. But cant find any settings data on it either.

    Anyone see a video/pics of the gear setup? Like to see exactly what's inside their gearbox because they don't actually show it anywhere? If I buy one its the first thing I'd have to look at but mainly because most china made units have very little to no grease on things with gears. Its like they have a severe grease shortage over there..lol
    Btw some reviews I read say these are made in USA and in past may even been idk? Brinly website shows China made now fwiw.

      Don't tempt me, Harry! I, too, am curious, but now that I own one don't want to pull it apart. haha. We'll see if others reply, otherwise I may have to be the guinea pig.
      The manufacturer's sticker on my spreader states "Made in the USA".
