Wow, those are giant logs. That is a backyard saw-millers dream! Everyone may laugh, but I found it exciting to watch the blade cutting through that thing! Thanks for making another great video for us.
The logs on the truck are for our bundle wood . They came from a saw mill but they all have iron in them so milling them would be costly . We have never been very good at making sawmill videos so we’re trying different things and getting that shot up close to the blade was a challenge but we love to here different things that people like so we can do a better job on the milling videos . Thanks for the input .
I @@AllenFamilyFirewoodI wonder if a video showing a test cutting a log with metal using a carbide tipped bladé would be interesting. I se diablo carbidé blades in my carpenter's saws, they cut nails in old wood, but if I hit a hardened screw I back up right away. I cut very slowly.
@ I’m sure some one makes a carbide bandsaw blade but I bet there a few hundred bucks and then no one around here can sharpen em so I’d have to mail them to be sharpened . He always has a nice truck and keeps em in tip top shape . We got rain here today but a hr drive inland they got just over an inch of snow . Bout time to go pull all the rd side stands in .
We have talked about it but there’s a lot involved with that Dana said it would be cheeper to just buy a lt 35 that has all the hydraulics set up on it . I’d have to saw a lot of lumber to pay for one of them and Karen said no I already asked lol .
You need a hydraulic log turner. Muhahaha. I got a log that’s nearly 4 feet through and 17 feet long. Beautiful straight white pine. It is currently stuck on the ground.
Great video, Phil and Karen! Love the sawmill close ups! Those are some beautiful boards and a very nice load of logs! Phil got his workout flippin' that beast of a log on the mill!

Hi Karen, your still making great video,s.
Not many logs I can’t flip by hand but them big ones are a challenge especially when the but end has a big flare to it . Using the tractor with forks works good but one wrong move a you can destroy the mill flipping a log . Really should have a grapple but with the extra weight of a grapple I’m not sure I could pick that log up . Big logs are just a pain but that why they pay good .
Hello Phil and Karen. That was another good load of wood. That log gave you a fight on every turn. You have to be careful, the last thing you need is an injury. Thanks Carl
What pallet size are you building now in this video. David UK
We’re still building the 6 ft long ones and there 38 inches wide . Lets us put 2 rows of 16 inch splits and gives us a 6 in air space between the rows to help speed up the drying .
You need a hydraulic sawmill old man! You’re working way too hard sawing those big logs!
@@kevinkeim5944 I know , would love to have a Lt 35 but it’s just not in the budget. Maybe in a few yrs we can pull it off
Nice logs, but doing this all day long, I'll bet you get board.
Ha good one lol. I do actually get bored doing the same thing every day so I like to change it up from cutting , splitting , picking up free logs and running the saw mill . Always something different keeps me going every day .
