do a video on helmets for people with overly massive heads. Please. It's almost impossible to find a helmet that actually fits.
Please always wear full gear everyone. I took a spill yesterday and walked away with a light scratch on my knee. Gloves were ripped up, Kevlar lined pants shredded, jacked scratched up and the face of my helmet was lined with deep scratches. Without my gear I would have been way worse if not dead. Please always ride in full gear
Will do, thanks for the wisdom man
This is a video I’ve been waiting for, 2 months until I move to Texas and begin this brand new journey.
You could have watched their 2020 video. They pretty much listed the same stuff in that one.
Where are you coming from? Hope you enjoy your time here :)
Also if you're coming to Austin then be careful hitting up the famous lime creek road. Lots of cops there recently and some home owners have been spreading sand onto the road in some sections to discourage spirited driving/riding. Definitely check it out though the road is fantastic, just take it easy.
@@NiSE_Rafter Long Island, New York. Absolutely... definitely a road I want to see 😎
You have come to the right place my friemd texas is tha shitttt
Congrats n good luck
Just started my motorcycle journey today! In the process of taking the MSF course as a first time rider. It was truly more complex than I thought it was going to be. Shut the bike off multiple times by not easing off the clutch. Once I got a bit more used to riding though, it transitioned from being on edge to having fun with it. Excited to get my Triumph Trident here in the next couple weeks!
good on ya for going through the MSF first! definitely a great idea and recommended for everyone
Following same path here. Those guys teach you to master every control of the bike, step by step, so that it is not overwhelming in this way.
Don’t u think that 660 cc is to much for newbie?
@@dreamerman7470 what style? Cruiser, sport. Ike, etc?
Hey Ty, bit late here, but hope you've been enjoying! Don't worry about stalling on your clutch, everyone does it, no matter how skilled they are!
The best beginner motorcycle gear is the safest and best quality gear you can afford. A minimum should be a full-faced helmet, impact protection for you shoulders, elbows and back, knees and hips and some good motorcycle boots that also cover most of your shins.
Agreed. I don't understand this "beginner" gear shit. When I first started on my ninja 400 I had the money to go all out and I had $2,000 gear covered head to toe. Never looked back.
I just went out and bought the safest and most comfortable gear I could afford
@@RageQuitReUnited Most people can't afford to spend 2,000 on clothes especially when they're young and just starting out...that's where the beginner shit comes from.
@@thraxberserker9960 if you can’t afford the gear you shouldn’t be buying a bike. Just my opinion but it’s their life so whatever lol
@@RageQuitReUnited 2k worth of gear? Most people don't ride with that level of gear until their more experienced, that's around the price allot of people pay for their first bike lol
I have Rev'it Eclipse jackets for 2 years. BEST summer riding jackets I ever had. It protects me from sun-burns and great airflow in city traffic. Even in the rain, after a few hours hanging on a chair, it is dried and ready for more riding (no smell of rain on it). Wash it every 2 months dry, 1 month in rain and all good
Better than the Fly Racing Street Flux Air Jacket for summer?
Do you layer under or over the eclipse jacket for rainy/cold days?
@@atomicx3372 for cold days which are like 2 weeks a year, I just put on a another T shirt or 2 and it's fine
For rainy day I just put on rain gear entirely without the jacket
Im a total noob and am picking up my pre ordered gear from the shop tomorrow :D I went for a Caberg Duke, Alpinestar SMX 6 boots, kevlar Jean's a leather jacket and some gloves. It might be overkill for a 125cc but at least I'm ready for the fall! Stay safe everyone.
hey same here! i am doing some research on what gear to get for my first bike :) i have never ridden in my life before, and i am joining the world of motorcycling! i plan on buying a 2022 grom soon (: it is better to stay well protected when it comes to riding!!! i can only imagine the insane impact and crashes when it comes to motorcycles :/ best of luck to you from houston texas! :)
I've been riding for 8 years, just did my full licence but even when I was riding on my CBT I always wear as much gear as possible! As someone who's had multiple accidents all I'll say is screw people who think it's overkill!falling off a bike hurts but give yourself the highest chance of being injury free!
Not overkill. A 125 will still go fast enough to make it hurt if you hit the ground. Good call on gearing up regardless of CC size.
Had a buddy in high school get in a moped wreck with no helmet and it changed his life. 125 cc is more than big enough to require gear.
Finally someone made an updated gear video for 2021
While I don't currently own a motorcycle as a regular E-bike commuter I'd definitely recommend everything above the waist in this video for anyone considering using an E-bike in a large Metro area. Great video 🤘
I'm 100% getting the black helmet, maroon jacket and black gloves, great fit.
But the shoes, im not sold on at all.. They look like they'd rip your foot with them at the ankle.
I'm probably rather getting higher boots, for more ankle protection.
Yeah, my opinion of this video decreased when I saw they weren't recommending a full length boot. (I'd also kinda recommend a ECE helmet, but I've been doing my research on that...and it still appears to be a toss up between ece and snell)
Also prevents the asphalt from cheesegrating your lower legs
@@shawndavis1480 it's basically just selling crap....modeling gear...orators...etc.
So, I have a lot of experience with all sorts of motorcycle gear, and put a lot of it to the test. And the only true good protection are leathers. Goretex (or other materials like it) just tears open after 100ft of sliding. The impact armor will only stay in the place it's supposed to protect for a millisecond, before becoming completely useless.
Even with leathers you get out of a crash bruised and blue, and with those, the impact armor stays in place...
But, yeah, everyone wears what he/she thinks will do the job.
Ride safe.
For commuting and city riding ,the equipment is not so bad. I mean if you have over 60 mph/ 100km/h in city traffic , you deserve your faith
Realistically leather in over 35'C -95'F in summer traffic going from light -to-light is unbearable.
I understand your point ,but for some task the equipment presented in the video is "almost" enough.
Have a nice day .
What is a good summer leather jacket? I'm just starting and I hate riding without a jacket since I feel too exposed but it gets hot here in Utah and I'd prefer to have leather and shoulder back elbow pads as well
Spot on! Best gear is whatever you don't mind putting on every single ride! Expensive leathers are worth nothing if you leave them at home once it's getting too warm.. Finally switched to riding jeans and couldn't be happier!
Went shopping for riding pants and boots today. If you are a short rider, with small feet, good luck. Seems the manufacturers think only tall, slim people ride.
I am a 5'6" male, with a few extra pounds on, and wear a size 7 shoe.
I couldn't find any pants with less than a 31" inseam, and I wear a 28".
And while a few makers do size 7s, the selection is extremely limited.
Guess I should be 6'3", like my son.
You can always get full grain leather boots from other places. You lose out on the hard protection but itll be better than regular shoes. I also have a 30 inch inseam and most pants fit long but the reax 267 and 215 actually fit pretty well with good protection and you can hem them shorter as well
Great helmet choice! Saved my noggin when I had a crash last year.
Word of warning! If you take his recommendation and go for a Scorpion EXO Optima jacket, be aware the sleeves will suffocate your arms. So if you're broad shouldered or have anything but noodle arms (sorry) either size up or find another option. It's uncomfortable for me riding, and I've already ripped the seam in two places on the shoulders. Good otherwise, just mind the sizing!
The helmet looks cool but I found out I have a round oval head. So I went with an Arai Quantum-X after hearing about it from a friend. Way more than I expected to spend on a helmet, but man it's comfortable.
Rookies... Be careful with laced shoes! There is an invisible love attraction between your shift lever and unsecured lace loops. This feature nuace should be part of every shoe review! Many long time riders might know first hand what i am referring to.
@@breakwood8531 a broken foot is not life threatening but dropping a bike on a leg because of falling over at low speed is the most common accident a new rider is likely to have. It's worth it to note that a shattered foot can change your life. Best practice is all the gear (good gear, not cheap gear) all the time. And practice, practice, practice. Trust yourself not the gear.
@@breakwood8531 you can also live without any limbs ...doesnt make that outcome any more desireable.
Total new bee here- Thanks for bringing this up, I have adjusted my first buy for footwear for this comment.
@@ponyforhire don't rule out laced riding shoes if they have a way to cover the laces such as a velcro strap. There are also some crank style cable laced short riding boots on the market such as the sidi duna special. I would love to hear opinion from riders who have tried those gadget style lace ups.
NGL I’ve loved having Brandon on board. He’s a great presenter... Now get him on HS/LS 😂
We love him too! We absolutely should get him on HS/LS!
That Benelli looks sick.
Fortnine or revzilla. Which is better? For me its fortnine i love the humor.
Its like comparing beef sausages to beyond meet "sausages"
Scorpion is an underrated helmet
I had an accident with an exo 390 boost and it didn't cracked and protected me like a pro from a crash at 100km/h(60mph) for 100 euros I paid, insane price quality
For an additional $50 you can get the icon overlord prime with ce lvl 2 protection everywhere
Super informative and helpful. Any budget options that don’t compromise safety?
I’d take the Sidi Duna or Rev’It Jefferson shoes over those shoes, but I pretty well agree with everything else.
Two things I never mess around with;
electrical hazards
riding without gear
Thanks RevZilla!
I be purchased from you LS2 FF900 Valiant 2 Revo 2XL for my birthday next month! I plan ahead on street gear HWK !
These boots are way too low. And one of the most important gear you have on. And 1 or 2 number bigger, so you can fite some hunting socks in them. First place you get cold is on your feet and hands. And get some tick rain gear to put on top, if it get really cold or rain. Then the wind don't blow true your gear. Because its not only keeps water out, but cold wind also. Summer gear gets super cold real fast.
If you think that heat is the worst, and is going to knock you out. Wait until you start to freeze. Then you can no longer ride.
My favorite is Ixon RS glove.
Have been used it for 8 year.
lol, i wear down at least one pair of gloves per 2 years
A Benelli, no less. Nice little bike
Riding 'shoes' are a bad choice for beginners
#1 injury in a motorcycle crash is a tib/fib fracture
Thank you big help for me.
Can I not wear regular converse for now? Or are they bad for riding
Man your channel just awesome 👍👍
Love that TNT 300
Sounds sweet that motor
Y'all keep recommending the Scorpion R420, which sucks for round heads like me. HJC i10 seems to offer similarly great value.
I really want the Eclipse jacket but I was hoping to get something that will be cool enough for the summer, but had a liner for the 45-50 degree mornings and fall.
Had an A Stars jacket that had an awesome liner in it. Is there a stand-alone wind proof liner I can buy to put on under the jacket in cold weather?
The shoes (high tops) could a person wear them to take the MSF course?
What type of bike is the blue one?
Hi, I’m picking up a motorcycle next week ( Kawasaki Ninja 250R) What gloves would you recommend for decent/More Airflow, I live in California so I would need something for the hot summer days where it gets to 103 lol. Thank you
a white helmet, gloves, hi-viz touring jacket, and some boots
the prize of gear converted to RM .....holy moly
So whats the difference between motorcycle boots and my steel toe work boots? Just earlier i saw a pair of boots that were $200 dollars and the only difference according to the description of them was that they didnt have steel toes and were full grain leather. Other than that, they seemed almost they same, save about an inch taller on the shins, and ive had my work boots around 2 years now and they're still going strong, whats the point of me getting boots that are relatively the same as my own except more expensive, especially when almost none of them are in my size?
The main differences are a reinforced steel shank at the sole, ankle cup protection for side impacts, & reinforced heel protection. They'll also offer a reinforced toe-box similar to your steel toed boots, but without the rest of the protection. Otherwise they're very similar, one is just designed to better protect in the riding application.
Oh yeah those skate shoes will definitely protect your shin bone when you inevitably drop your bike lol
I’m watching this to get an idea on new better gear after I got into a wreck last Saturday I ended up breaking my femar, my nose and maxilla (upper jaw) had to have surgery I had a full face modular helmet but idk if I’ll get a modular again. Cause when I got hit I ended up loosing my front upper 3 teeth and they ended up going through my bottom lip entirely which is now stitched up on both sides and both leg and nose were fixed but I have about 3-4 months recovery time for my femar and 2.5 weeks for my nose and hopefully I’ll be able to get teeth implants. But idk how I’m not dead cause all I had was my Harley hoodie and Harley vest no pads a pair of normal wrangler boot cut jeans no armor padding in anything except my helmet. But I will not let this stop me from being on a bike idc if it’ll take me years to recover before I can ride again I will ride again. Oh and before I forget as much fun as 125 CC bikes are they’re not loud enough not fast enough for even city esc traffic so please stay away from them if you aren’t an experienced rider I wish I had gone with a bigger bike for my first bike at least a 300/400/500cc or something. But being a shorter rider at 5’2 I thought it was a good fit and it was but cars can’t see you as a rider to begin with and it’s even worse on a grom, Kawasaki z125 pro and whatever else is 125 Cc that’s “road legal” I know it’s road legal but from my experience from this wreck it shouldn’t be. It’d be a fun track bike but it’s not good commuting or city esc riding. Or even country back roads riding.
How tall was your female rider model ?
Excellent guide especially for the outfit! keep up the good work.
For the helmet however, i'd suggest all the new riders out there to consult the SHARP ratings before buying a new helmet. Without getting into much details SHARP is the most advanced and true to real life helmet rating currently available. Another piece of advise from a seasoned rider, do not buy an helmet without trying it on first (and for at least 10 min). Fit is the most important aspect of an helmet after the SHARP rating.
It doesn't make sense that they allocated the same budget to each piece of gear. The helmet is statistically far more important than the others. Better to dish out 500 or so on the fim certified r1 air
Very informative
What’s the motorcycle at 0:47 ?
Which product do you think is best for safety? Pls tell me, cause I am beginner so I am worried about riding gear.
1. Revit - Airwave 3 tex jacket
2. Revit - Arc air tex jacket
3. Revit - Vertex air tex jacket
4. Revit - Eclipse tex jacket
5. Revit - Quantum 2 air tex jacket
Love the white helmet 😎
I guess I’m the only one who thinks these new riders need the most protection they can afford.
Though I don't disagree, the best gear is the one you wear every time you ride. Balancing that in their reviews (though I find the shoes aweful) is one step in helping new riders to actually wear it.
Have not been a new rider in decades but I started with much less than is listed here and a lot of that was ignorance but mostly lack of funds. What I never skimped on was the helmet.
@@michaelkrenzer3296 same, as a beginner I stupidly didn't wear any gear, if not only a helmet to look "cool". Luckily the 2 times I crashed I didn't break anything... just a big long scar on my leg.
My friend crashed without gear too and be broke his ankle.
Since then, I always wear gear 👍🏻
Sounds like an adult hotline video

@@ericiglesias4313 too late I bought it already lol. No bike yet waiting for the 2022 R3
So question how come y’all have never done videos on helmets for people with glasses? Be it new or experienced riders wouldn’t it be a good idea to have that out there?
I mean it's really no different. For me it's Glasses off, helmet on, glasses through the visor space, and visor down.
@@nqwertyuiop123 yes but you probably have a helmet with grooves cut into the padding or something and have been riding for awhile. What about the new riders?
This man is on to something........
I use the Shark Skwal, it has cutouts for glasses. It also has an internal sun visor as well.
@@_Rapturous_ I know about the Skwal but that can’t be the only option for people who wear glasses
Thought that was the formula e theme at first
First. hello from the philippines
Wow. A helmet uglier than my Schuberth. I didn’t think that was possible.
That's interesting, thanks! The only things I would doubt are shoes and jeans. Don't know much about these particular models, just not sure that shoes without joints can be well-protective. And jeans are great, but I'd prefer some model without built-in armor, but with a zipline over the knee, which allows putting an armor straight on the knee. I'm afraid that during an accident this built-in armor might move.
no women's option for pants and jacket ?
Hello. I'm pretty sure that both jeans and jacket featured on this video have a women's option.
Let's go Brandon!
What bike is that at :048? ua-cam.com/video/5zCzUilEaYg/v-deo.html
First 🥇 comment! Thanks been waiting for this video.
I do not agree the jacket has good style.. maybe for a boring person
Used ebay helment, hoodie, jeans, vans, mechanics gloves, done.
Where’s Lemmy?!?
Yeah promote a glove to new riders that allows them to use their cell phone and sneakers? Great ankle protection
Anyone who is attempting to use their phone while riding is beyond help. I'm a heavy multitasker and I can't even adjust my gps while driving without feeling like I'm doing something terrible. Doing that when riding is just, look if someone is doing that they are beyond help.
Did you even watch the video?
What if you get in a crash and are too weak to take off gloves? What if one of your hands are pinned? How are you going to call anyone then? Yes, having a glove that works with a phone is a safety feature. Also, using a phone for gps is far from unsafe.
If you can't afford leathers then don't bother riding.
I have crashed in both textile and leathers at around 40mph.
I had to go hospital with textile and it was a wreck. I walked away unharmed in leathers. When it rains out a waterproof overcoat on.
Good gear is cheaper than time off from work due to cheap recycled water bottles jackets that do nothing to protect you.
I got a Dainese leather jacket with leather pants for just 370€ in my country... what a streal! Best investment ever imo.
@@Cliffracer46 yes bro. In 5 years, time it will still be good to use providing you condition them and don't crash too much. It's, worth weight in gold.
New riders shouldn't get caught up on this, textile scam which look garbage
Ima just jump right out there and call BS on this video. I love the products and service this web site offers. But, When I first started riding Sport bikes I had the money to buy all the correct riding gear for my sport. What I found out later on is that casual riders ie.. riders with up right riding styles were woefully unprotected from the randomness that occurs from time to time when riding any motorcycle in day to day traffic. All I can say is : buy the best protection you can afford. If you buy leather bottoms then include the best armor you can afford. If you buy a leather jacket then buy the best armor you can afford. (The key here is do not ride with anything less than leather). Buy the best full face helmet you can afford then the best back protector you can afford quickly followed by the best hip and glove protection you can afford. Do not buy with this guy is suggesting you buy at any cost. If you do not understand then good luck to you. Experience in crashing and suffering from skin being ripped off of you will be the teacher.
Helmet is NOT most important. Look at statistics. High boots and pants are. Buy cheap LS2 helmet and expensive alpinestars smx6 GTX plus any motorcycle pants and gloves.
Who are you?
Sadly, yet ANOTHER review in the vast mix that recommends jackets NOT available in tall sizes, nor mentions suitable alternatives when the tall is needed to avoid sizing up and getting a much baggier fitting jacket. PLEASE stop ignoring the many of us that would welcome recommended options for tall. No need saying 'check our website' because your filters don't stick, making the user experience more cumbersome when hunting for tall. Love your content in general except for this one aspect which is prevalent in the majority of your vids.
