  • Here's a low effort, quick overview on castorless castors. An invention I wish I knew about before I tried gaffa taping my castors over and over again to keep them fixed. Short and sharp but it'd have saved me buckets of time had I watched this months ago.

    In my case, the gaming chair I purchased 2 years ago had available "locking" casters as an option. They basically lock in place from the weight of sitting in the chair. Works like a charm for me! I would hope that generic casters like that are available for most rolling office chairs, assuming the size of the pin is the same on most of them.

    An even more ghetto solution.
    Take a pair of old shoes with rubber soles and put the two "back" wheels into them. After a bit of adjustment, it is surprisingly solid (at least for the potentiometer pedals).

    Holy heck dude thank you. I just moved to a new place with wooden floors no now my pedals don’t move, but my chair does. Will definitely be getting these. I was thinking if picked up a full rig from where I work. Now I can put that off for longer.

    The issue is that it will still rotate. The rotation on my chair is VERY smooth and effortless... so any sort of force pressing on the pedals will rotate me away from the pedal like I'm pushing off the wall.

      have you found a solution for this yet? only problem i’m facing 😭

    • @TakeNoShift
      @TakeNoShift Рік тому

      @@mvterivlistic There's a company that sells a cylinder with a rotation lock, but I'm sure it's a specific fit for their chairs. Monstertech makes them, and it's specifically oriented towards flight sim and race sim applications. Besides this, I don't think there are any elegant solutions, but there are some jank solutions, like strapping your chair's armrests to the legs of your desk to prevent rotation that way.

      @@TakeNoShift i don't even play racing/flight simulator games and the chair rotation on my T3 RUSH Corsair bugs the hell out of me. i've been looking for a solution. I think i'm just going to buy a chair of monstertech. I'm afraid to risk if the cylinder will not be applicable to this chair i'm using

    I'm late to this, but it's still relevant. I have hard floors so didn't want think stem casters would work. So I just put gaffa/duck tape round the wheels (horizontally, so they don't go under the base). Solid as a rock! My chair tips over before it slides.

    • @dannyleeracing
      @dannyleeracing  3 роки тому +3

      I tried the same thing you did - taped it up, but found the tape eventually got munched up in the wheels anyway. I didn't know stem castors were a thing at the time, if I did I could've saved myself the bother! Hence this video

    Hi Danny i know you have switched to a rig now, i'm going to buy these stem casters but did you find your chair rotating much when using the pedals? Can't test everything as my DD and gear hasn't arrived yet, thanks for the great advice.

    • @dannyleeracing
      @dannyleeracing  2 роки тому +2

      I never found the chair rotating to be much of an issue, it was always the rolling back that caused the trouble for me. Sorry not to have anything clever to advise for that!

      Hi, this comment is 2 years ago so I'm guessing you don't have this issuea anymore.
      But I'll comment for anyone else experiencing the same thing.
      If this happens then the chair is uneven, so either something in your chair is bent or crooked, or the floor is crooked.
