- Building my DIY budget Sim Racing Rig. In this video I use wood to create a fully functional budget friendly sim racing cockpit. You can get all the supplies from you local hardware store for less than $35! ADDITIONAL BUILD INFORMATION BELOW!!
DIY Blueprint (Download):
drive.google.com/file/d/1o1fY...
Uprights are cut at a 25 degree angle on top.
On the top 1x8, the 2x2's run across the width to give support.
The 2x2 on the shifter arm is cut at a 45 degree angle on both sides and provides support to the bottom of the arm.
A 2x6 was used underneath the chair for support however depending on what chair you're using your mount may be different. For example for a real car seat you may be able to mount the rails directly on the base.
▶Most commonly asked question is where to get the chair. I strongly suggest looking at your local Goodwill or thrift store. However, here is a similar chair to mine you can get on Amazon.

it's cool to see what the simulator community can do with a couple of 2x4's screws and a idea
give them a nagging wife and they can also built in less than one day, less than 50 bucks and on wheels that can be carried away or tucked in or folded in less than 10 seconds. I know by myself.
I just BUILT MINE YESTERDAY. no knowledge on nothing. The only help? YOU MY GUY. THANK YOU.
Finally someone that give all the specs thanks you . Nice job
I know! Even though the specs are different from everyone. That's awesome.
If your handy with tools and making things , google Diy sim rigs (pictures) you'll find heaps of inspiration , as for measurements that's trial and error ...Just doing things in pairs helps...and plenty of timber 👍
Awesome job! Thanks also particularly for the list of materials and plans … it made it possible for me to build my own EM rig as well. Liked and subscribed.
Thanks to you my brother I'm ganna wake up and safe my self £400 omega rig and go get some wood and build it just like you it's looks amazing and simple good work lad 👏
Great video. Literally watched this 2 hours ago and built one already. Thanks!!
Hey bro thanks for these tips. I showed this to my dad and he altered your original plans... tiny tiny bit. But it was so much fun. Thanks brother! ❤ love from Sri Lanka 🇱🇰
That’s awesome! Feel free to post you build in the discord 🔥
I finished it late last night, built it in my garage so I had to carry it to the main floor and then back down to the basement. It was such a pain, but building it was so awesome! Thanks again!
💪🏻🔥
thanks for the video, and going the extra mile, and supplying a pdf download as that's super helpful. I've had a hyperdrive then a playseat, but have not sim raced for about 5 years, going to use your build as a starting point to get back into it. Cheers from the southeast coast of Australia!
Bro i watch so many diy videos and ur the only one actually show everything. Thanks
Got mine together over the course of a few days. Had to tinker with the pedal-position for comfort. Awesome way to race!
Any side to side wiggle/play?
Worked awesome me and my dad finish the project today and it’s so much fun😅
loving it! was thinking for a long time how to do it since i have a spare car seat and it's even on rails. thank you for the amazing inspiration
Bro this is actually sick, considering some frames are like $600+ I've got a spare bucket seat at home I'm going to build a frame with it thank you for sharing how you did it
Bucket seat will go hard 💪🏻🔥
Thank you for the idea, i will probably add a support for my tv and i will go into a junkyard to find a comfortable seat that I will hard mount into my frame
That’s pretty cool, I built my own but it’s got a couple problems that I’m gonna fix tomorrow, yours definitely looks better then mine so good job man I love the creativity
Pretty awesome to have someone actually show you how they built their setup.
That's a nice car in the background, I'm guessing, but is it a Corvette?
Nice, simple. Building one this weekend...Got wood(lol) and all of my hardware.
I’m trying to build a setup personalized for my trucker setup. This gave me ideas. Thanks
sweeeeeet. probably depends on the size of the seat. I have some hardwood in the shed which has just found a purpose.
Just finished my build thanks to this man
Thanks for this idea and for sharing. Love the setup.
Awesome build! I’m getting into sim racing and trying to find something cheap to start out with. Might just do this
Nice work I will be doing mine in the next few days.
Thank you.
Yo that is doooope! I’m planning on building something like this for GT when it comes out next year (2022). I want to try to make the seat an adjustable slider and also the foot pedals cuz I know my kids are gonna wanna play GT. Awesome freakin build man 🤘
If not too late; get an actual car seat from a scrapyard, you'll not have issues with adjusting it 👍🏼
Aim for a Bentley Continental GT seat 😜
Thanks for sharing this. I play ats a good amount and looking into possibly building a gaming rig in the near future.
Ufff finally someone with blueprints and good instructions! Thx dude
Nice job! Not only does it get the job done, but also looks pretty decent while doing it
💪🏻🔥
brilliantly simple - thank you
Amazing build dude, I’m going to make the exact one during this break
Thank you! I hope the build works out for you 🔥
Nice wheels! a Classic!
Yo, nice video and thx for the inspiration 🤙
Awesome dude just freaking awesome simple affordable good job
Thank you I really appreciate it! 🙏🏻
Thanks for the video, i was going to purchase a stand. But, with times being a little harder this looks like a great option to get the job done.
Exactly the reason I built this one. Good luck I hope it works just as well for you!
@@RealExpiredMilk thank you, actually building it today :) and had a friend with a NRG seat from a Veloster he's going to sell me for cheap. 🤘🏻 hope your set up is working well!
Definitely gonna try this !! Thank you
Im going to tweak your awesome design to accomidate a 60" tv. Thanks for the vid!
Awesome! I hope the build works well for you!
I'mma build this when I get a job and can afford the materials
I went to Home Depot and got everything but nails and I got two black cans of spray paint, $62 with tax, can’t wait to build it
@@mkfmgaming3019 gee thanks man, now I'll need to get two jobs!
i know im asking randomly but does anybody know a way to get back into an instagram account??
I was stupid lost my login password. I would love any assistance you can offer me.
@Jesse Lucas Instablaster =)
@Allan Torin thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now.
I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Just put this together. Awesome spec sheet. Works great so far!
What wheel you driving? Is it sustainable with an direct-drive?
@@kazimcanbas9187 I’m using a g290. But, it is very solid. With room to improve rigidity easily if needed. You would have no issue.
OMG 🤩 Never mind the Awesome diy sim racing rig, Check out the Magnificent Corvette just sitting there wanting to be driven for real. 🔥👍🏻🇦🇺
thank you for sharing..i need my seat to adjust is only extra mod for me. looks great.
Just what I needed, thanks man!
Very neatly done!
awsome rig man! great job! today unfortunately with the cost of wood in canada would be like 500 bucks lol
Amazing work man
Excellent work 👌
Thanks for sharing ✌️
Thank you! Cheers!
Built mine almost to your exact spec. Thanks for the content, great work!
That’s awesome! I’m glad it worked for you! Thank you
@@RealExpiredMilk the funny part was me having to relearn how to play F1 2020 with the g923. Took me a whole week to get used to but now I literally can't do it with the controller anymore. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
You said almost, what did you do differently? Planning on starting one for my son next week!
@@retaliategamer how did it go?
Just found a leather racing car in a junkyard for 30$ almost brand new, will surely make something like this
Great vid bro.
Thanks for this, bro
Un día de estos me pongo con mis hermanos a hacer este bello cockpit
As for the seat.. go to a car junkyard and buy a seat & the rails it is mounted on. If you do, then use the bottom beams at 1.5 the given length to allow sliding your seat.
01:36 "are you winning son?"
Just built it works awesome thx!
Great Work 👍👍
I love the design! I want to practice welding so ill most likely make it out of metal but thanks for the blueprint.
Thank you! Good luck with your build, I'd be interested to see how it comes out. Feel free to post pics in the Discord when its finished! Thanks for watching!
@@RealExpiredMilk hey yea absolutely
dude thank you so much for this!
The way you mounted the chair has given me a great idea thanks very much
What was your idea?
Looking for a chair
@@Itsmitchymoo I had a good idea but I don’t remember. I did something different in the end
Love this , and your car
Looks great
I may be a bit late, but I'm so building this asap!
Very cool.
Just got outta the garage from building this thing, nice plans. I didn't do the shifter portion or the diagonal supports but it's still very sturdy.
I ripped the passenger seat out of my Honda for the chair cuz racecar. Had to cut some additional pieces to accommodate, but now I have a fully adjustable seat.
Total cost for the build? *$0.*
broooo tomorrow i will!!!!!!! thanks!!!
That's great, thank you.
Thanks for this. Exactly what I was looking for to build!!! 👌🏽
Next time if you want to have an easier time making it square and make it a little stronger. Have the front and back horizontal boards sit sideways in between the length of the two long boards. Then put a 90° triangle piece in every corner and then screw it tight. The force of the drill we'll pull the sides into the middle piece you create and make a perfect square and it will add a lot more strength.
Nice corvette
Is there a way to atach the chair that I can easily remove and use on my pc desk as well?
Nice, defo gonna build this
Good luck I hope it you like! 🔥🔥
Can u show how you mounted the pedals
Nice one😊❤🎉
Gonna see what I can do to make it vr ready
what are the sections for the cleats and the thickness of the board?
Does anyone know where else the music when he's putting the wood together is from? It's driving me nuts that I can't remember. Thanks
nice corvette :)
Thanks, dude. I just got a wheel and pedal set and was wondering how to make something like this
Maybe put locking wheels on it so you can easily move it to storage after use.
Bro that beat is FIRE wtf
It's genius to cut open the bottom of the chair. It was bothering me so long if I can buy a used gaming chair on how to use it. So I have been searching for a driver seat that it's hard to find a good and cheap ones.
If you have a thrift store near you try looking there. Got this chair for $4 🔥
What angle did you cut your uprights to make the Logitech level?
Awesomeness
Gonna add a cup holder for my beer !
Thanks for the video. I have one of those car chair computer chairs and I am going to be basing a similar rig on yours I am only slightly altering the design and shortening it and raising the steering wheel to use with any chair I want. How did you secure the pedal to it?
That's awesome, I hope it comes out well! The pedals on mine werent affixed to the rig, what I ended up doing was just putting a small piece of wood at the back of the base for it to rest on to give it an incline. It was a slight bit shorter than the 2x4 of the base so it rested against the back and never moved. I hope this makes sense!
i may have to do this.
Any side movement/wiggle?
Is it sustainable with an direct-drive?
So, Simple and also looks so cool! Definitely gonna look into building this with my dad! Also, do you have any tips on how to make it taller, and how to make a handbrake mount?!
Just pit the handbrake next to the shifter
Wich model is that chair ???
Thank you
how expensive is the wood pieces?
Thanks for the video and blue print info EM. I joined your discord. Saw you had added a tv mount to your rig. I didn't notice if you posted anything showing the measurements on it or not. Was wondering if you added it separate to your rig, or if it is mounted onto your rig? I have a tv I would like to add onto being part of this rig so was just interested. Thank you again.
sorry for the delayed response. I added it on later with a couple 2x4 and some L-brackets at the base for stability. threw on a tv mount and bam. its about a 24in tv I think. I wouldn't go much bigger than that though. I don't remember the exact dimensions but I want to say theyre about 3ft tall
I saw the video and I read the comments but I don't see the link of a chair like your.
could you send me the link please?
nice video, best in town
Sick
Awesome video!! I think I’m gonna make it but I just wanted to ask how did u mount the pedals or are they just pressed against the plank
They are just pressed up against the plank. Makes for easy adjustments if someone shorter wants to use it
I also have a small rug placed underneath the rig now so the bottom of the pedals grip it so it doesn’t move around at all
Where can I get a seat at
Found some wood in my back yard now I know what to do w it
just one question when i looked at the blueprints i realized that i might be to short to get to the pedals do you know any type of fix for this like can i build this rig and put the seat longer forwards or something i would really want an answer because im pretty short and want to know if this works on very short people to
You could put in an additional 2x4 cut to length further up to act as a stop that the pedals can rest against
awesome build..
Is it hard to get into??
I was thinking of making the "driver's side" a little different for easy access..
Thanks...
It’s not that bad if you’re getting in from the left side. The right sides a little hard to get into though
Mine kind of looks like yours, I took some scrap wood from the work site and borrowed a saw, mad one up In a night..it's so .uch better, and it was fun lol
Thats sick! I'd love to see your setup. Check out the discord if your interested and throw a pic up of your build.
@@RealExpiredMilk do you have a link? I just grabbed assetto corca for ps4 today
I just painted mine black last night too.
@@letrface_8596 there’s one in the description 🔥
@@RealExpiredMilk got it ty
but can it drift?
Cool build, do you know roughly what angle you cut the top of the supports on either side of your rig for the wheel?
I built this set up...almost the same. I used 10 degrees for mine
25 degrees
