Office Chair Mechanism Won't Tilt! Troubleshooting Tips.

- We get a lot of customers calling in regarding a common issue with their office chair - it won't tilt! Luckily, there's a simple adjustment that fixes this problem. This video is shown with an office chair equipped with a basic swivel/tilt mechanism. If your chair has a different type of tilt mechanism, there should be a similar adjustment for the tilt tension that will loosen it up. On some chairs, this is integrated into one of the handles, or there is a separate dial. Reach out to the manufacturer for clarification on your chair. My chair would get locked and unlocked on its own. Maybe I did something to cause it, maybe I didn’t. I have no idea. I would just wait for it to fix itself. Today I finally looked it up after it engaged on its own. What a relief lol

Had my chair for about 7 years as well and I didn’t even know you had to pull it out to unlock the tilt mechanism I have been trying to figure out how to rock my cheer bag and every once in a while it will become unlocked so I can rock back, but ever since I have found this video I know how to work my chair now LMAO!!

Brilliant thank you so much - i was about to dismantle the tilt adjuster thinking it was broken (wouldn't rotate loose). It was the lock mechanism that you pointed out - I had been spinning on the chair the night before and my legs must have knocked the lever. I had no idea it was there :)

Best thing would be to update the instruction sheet to address this issue. I just finished putting my chair together and, luckily, I found this video explaining what to do. I’m not disappointed, it’s a great chair!!

MAN! My Serta chair would go from sometimes tilting to randomly not (I guess the lock would get kicked in and sometimes it would come out and that’s when it would tilt.) I went months without being able to tilt back and I just now decided to look up troubleshooting tips. Literally 50 seconds into the video and I solved a problem I’ve had for months lol thank you!!!
