@robertcampbellii9787 if you look at most theocracies, they’ve always been in one war or another over their religions views and their need to exercise dominance over other people. Religion tears a country apart it causes division. During Jesus’ time you had the Pharisees and the sadnesses who were divided because of their religious views. One group believed in life after death and the other didn’t. However, both groups were considered the religious leaders of their time, and they used religion as a means to control everyone else. They also used religion as a way to gain political prominence and wealth. God does not force someone to love him or worship him so why should Christians? After all you want people to believe in something that you can’t prove is real. That would be the same as you trying to make me believe that Santa Claus is real. Either a person chooses to enter into a personal relationship with God or they don’t, but either way it’s their choice to do so. God gives men a choice. You can choose blessings or curses, life or death but in either case he’s not gonna force you to do one of the other. I think you forgot that point.

      That's good to hear Anita.
... but may I challenge you a bit?
I would present the idea that you're doing something similar to Holly.
... because you believe that Jesus was good and the lessons of Christianity represent love, picks and chooses from the whole of Christianity. Other Christians (a large %) don't believe that. Historically Christianity has not acted in that manner.
Just like Holly who can only see "his Christianity" as the "right one", you see your version as "the good one".
You are not being honest about the whole of and historical history of your religion... just picking and choosing the one that works for you.
Which is fine by the way, but then you can't say stuff like "pseudo believers" because that's based on your completely subjective interpretation. You are a "pseudo believer" in Holly's eyes and he's at least just as right as you, in that it's completely a subjective interpretation.
      Food for thought.

My own beliefs are largely just a mix of hope and pessimism. I hope for a point to life, but I doubt it exists. A great source of depression and fear for me, as well as panic attacks. I'd love to be able to live believing that I'm going somewhere happy when I die. That my girlfriend went somewhere happy. Life would be easy. But unfortunately, it's not. I can't believe it blindly.

They practiced sharia law (on the male side) while the women didnt want anything to do with it. The dad didnt want his daughters to goto college, didnt want his daughter to date me because i wasnt muslim. When she openly said she wanted to be with me, she was sent off to an aranged marriage and her sister disowned the family and went to college. The girl i wanted to be with asked if ahe could move in with my family, but my parents basically said hell no (no parent wants their teens boyfriend or girlfriend living with them) the next day she was shipped off to washington to marry a dude twice her age and i never heard or saw anything of her again. Point being while some muslims in the country do want sharia law, a good portion of them are whole heartedly against it even in their own families. So i get extra mad when people blanket muslims under that singular aspect of a massive belief system. Its exactly the same as Christians who have over 200 denominations and even within those people dont interpret things the same and dont believe the same things about what theyre told to believe.

We DID almost become a Christian country. The Presbyterians and Baptists were starting to get at each other's throats petitioning to make their version of Christianity the official US religion. James Madison was baptised as a baby as Presbyterian, but he also read a lot of Diest tracts. He finally got sick of both the Presbyterian and Baptist factions going at it, and watching the inter-Christian brutality and religious meddling in government in Europe and said, "Who does not see that the same authority which can establish Christianity, in exclusion of all other Religions, may establish with the same ease any particular sect of Christians, in exclusion of all other Sects?" Patrick Henry, who had been a leader in pushing Presbyterianism, was FURIOUS. By the way, James Madison and Patrick Henry were both my uncles. Uncle Pat never forgave Uncle Jim for the Separation of Church and State. Which was fine by Uncle Jim. Don't lose the plot now, America. The original Constitution of the United States that was ratified in 1789 had only ONE REFERENCE TO RELIGION: [Article 6] No religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any Office or Public Trust under the United States.
The de facto motto of the United States, adopted as part of the Great Seal of the U.S. by an Act of Congress in 1782, was E. Pluribus Unum (Out of Many, One). Congress changed it 174 years later (1956) to "In God We Trust".
The ORIGINAL 'Pledge of Allegiance' was written in 1892 by Baptist Minister Francis Bellamy who DID NOT INCLUDE the words "Under God". Those were added by Congress 62 year later (1954).
The U.S. didn't issue Paper Currency until 1861, & 'In God We Trust' didn't appear on it for 96 years (1957).
“As the government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian Religion" ~ Treaty of Tripoli; initiated under President George Washington, 1796, signed into law by President John Adams, 1797, ratified unanimously by the Senate, 1797, published in full in all 13 states, with no record of complaint or dissent.
"I am for freedom of religion and against all maneuvers to bring about a legal ascendancy of one sect over another."
--Thomas Jefferson, letter to Elbridge Gerry, January 26, 1799
“Christianity neither is, nor ever was part of the common law.” Thomas Jefferson
“Religion and government will both exist in greater purity the less they are mixed together.” James Madison
“The government of the United States is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion.” John Adams
"In every country, in every age, the priest has always been hostile to liberty...He is always in alliance with the despot, abetting his abuses in return for protection of his own."
    Thomas Jefferson
Founding Father Thomas Paine on Christianity. “The most detestable wickedness, the most horrid cruelties, and the greatest miseries that have afflicted the human race, have had their origin in this thing called revelation, or revealed religion…”
AMERICA WAS NOT FOUNDED ON "CHRISTIAN VALUES", IT WAS NEVER MEANT TO BE A CHRISTIAN NATION, IT NEVER WILL BE A CHRISTIAN NATION. AMERICA IS A SECULAR COUNTRY. One small correction; the phrase "in God we trust" isn't part of the Pledge of Allegiance. The words "under God" were inserted into the Pledge. I think you may have meant to say that "in God we trust" was added to our paper currency in the 1950s.
According to Google, "in God we trust" was first printed onto coins in 1864, but that's still 75 years after the founding of the U.S. government, so if Josh Hawley believes that the United States was founded upon Christianity, he's clearly wrong.

    The Bible's morality:
"When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are. If she does not please the man who bought her, he may allow her to be bought back again."
    Exodus 21: 7-8

I'd accept teaching the Bible in school as long as they teach the Jefferson Bible. You know, the one that Thomas Jefferson made by cutting out all of the miracles. 😂😂😂😂
