it would be hilarious if on april fools day seth made an against the odds for modern jund where he describes it like its some one off brew that somebody top 8'd locals with
lol just came back here, after watching the "against the odds: jund" episode :D
WAIT
Keeping a one lander against the anti land deck... Well let's hope it works out.
I love modern "long grindy drawn out games"
Turn 6
True lol. But my word, the amount of back-and-forth between the two.... it's videos like these that make me want to play modern.
Against Odds: Modern Jund continues...
We've all had a lot of bad things to say about mtg lately but man modern seems SUPER healthy right now, this reminds me of twin era modern. Makin me nostalgic for casting creatures and attacking with them.
"We're fine, we are hurting ourselves a lot." -SaffronOlive 2020
"MAGIC GODS WHY!!!??" ...Cause you kept a 1 lander.
A 1-lander against Death and Taxes, no less - which was maybe a bit of a risky keep.
@@Nr4747 With 12 fetches too ;'D
I don't know, when you think about what plays the opp could have done against that 1-hander in particular, the odds were at Seth's favor.
horrible keep imo
yeah its a landfall deck you need to mull that for sure wasn't really that good to start with
The opponent on KiKi Chord legit started with a 78 card deck and side boarded into Yorion for game 2. That's some next level stuff right there. Like, why though?
i really really feel like this deck needs hexdrinker. a one-drop beater early and a mana sink later. you've got so much open mana and often need something that can take you the rest of the way after they take care of your landfall threats.
Thinking about building this and I agree but am not sure what the best cuts would be? My guy says Wild Nacatl but I'm not sure
@@zacharycheyney4857 yeah I would run maybe two nacatl and two hexdrinkers.
@@zacharycheyney4857 i think plated geopede just sucks. and i think one-drops are much better than two-drops in this kind of go-wide atarka's command deck, so i'd keep the nacatls. i'm also unconvinced by knight of the reliquary. this is more of a zoo deck than a landfall deck, and i think every creature should turn sideways to attack every turn.
Hexdrinker sounds good. Narnam Renegade could also be another interesting option since we have so many fetchlands.
"Seth, stop trying to make Fetch happen, it's not going to happen!" - your opponent, probably.
17:40 “Some-Guide Lantern probably has Soul value.”
Add another deck to the list Jund can't beat.
to be fair the jund player played horribly. Gotta know when to turn the corner and attach with goyf
Also what Jund player keeps discard in against a aggro deck 🤷🏼♂️
It's a long list at this point :)
@@lovemetenderloin8880 , Inquisition is great against aggro decks.
NeZ Cheese I’m aware of how discard works, I’ve been playing bgx since I’ve started playing magic. So I’m aggro matches I usually side out my discard for more kill spells since they can empty their hands quite fast resulting in discard being a bad top deck. 🤷🏼♂️
I absolutely love landfall! It's been my favorite mechanic next to haunt in this game! I'm so glad thet decided to make the decision to print more!
Naya is my favorite color combination. Thanks for the Content.
7:50 "Is Naya Landfall another deck Jund can't beat" OOF
I love it keep them coming
the rea question is a sideboard slot worth more than a Jigantha?
Was thinking the same thing! Problem is Id rather have a scapeshift or two than a Jigantha. But maybe scapeshift is win-more.
much abrew coming out friday evening is so great
Glad you like the schedule change!
Love the shirt! keep up with the content loving all of it
A couple of Deafening Clarion seem better in sideboard than the feed the clan. They allows to clean the opponent board and let yours thanks to a fetch, then you can gain a ton of life. Keep the good job, I like the videos !
Man that mill deck is scary, I wonder where I can find that list since it plays more creatures besides crab
Seen a few variations on this deck and have to admit having 4 wrenn and six really strengthens this decks ability to win drawn out games. Really want to build it in paper but missing out on 4 wrenn and six 😕
W&6 + Reliquary bringing back canopies did some heavy lifting
Love the value in this deck! Any thoughts on tireless tracker? I think it's just a pet card for me.
I saw this played against us in a recent much abrew, and realized that since this video was published we now have Renegade Rallier in Historic. I tried to replicate this before and failed. The deck will obviously be a lot weaker with fewer landfall creatures and no fetch lands, but historic can be a bit more forgiving, and this might be fun. Rallier is a big deal, so I'm going to try it again!
i like the transparent bear
Elvish Rejuvenator seems like a very good possible inclusion--a consistent creature if you have lands in the graveyard in addition to triggering landfall in the case that upside exists on board.
The Grateful Dead shirt lookin sweet as usual
29:32 luckily the opponent didn't know that sometimes it is a good move to Ghost Quarter a fetchland
Yeah when you're against a landfall deck like this you don't let them keep a fetch on their turn.
Green dancing bear doing some work during the wrap up
the new equipment for 1 mana that gives anything the landfall +2/+2 is most likely better than Wild Nacatl.
I´ve been using a legacy legal version of this deck for a while now.
sometimes it goes full stupid and does
T1: RG land into Akoum Hound
T2: equipment, fetchland, crack, find forest, crop rotation, find another fetch, crack fecth, find another forest, berserk, attack for 32.
In response : lightning bolt, fatal push, path to exile, swords to plowshares, dismember, or mental misstep, force of will, force of negation - etc.
Sounds spicy, but super vulnerable to a lot of the most common cards, game 2 & 3 especially must be rough.
Hungry Hungry Hobo more likes on the comment than the original 😂
can i get a list
@@TheRealHungryHobo sure, that much is true.
I ran Nacatl for quite a while and he wouldn't make a lot of difference in a pretty relevant amount of boardstates, though.
just started using the equipment in his place, and it makes both risk and reward go slightly up.
anyway, you're not really totally burned out if they kill the dude while you equip it.... it´s an equipment, it will stick around, just move it elsewhere and keep triggering it.
No aggro deck will be ever immune to removal.
more than once I have equipped this to Quirion Ranger or Knight of the Reliquary to keep the landfall triggers relevant even if they removed my lynxes, hellhounds....
37:00 An opportunity for lethal was missed!! If you attack with Nactal(3) and they don't block you bolt face(3), atarka's command for bolt + pump(4) and then Wren and Sixx tick down for the W
Lol classic Seth keeping a one land hander against an arbiter ghost quarter deck 😂🤣 then being surprised when they have it. Seth surprised Pikachu face.
34:27 Oh! So THAT'S why they call it Cat Jesus, now it makes sense, thanks for clearing that up (sarcasm reminder text)
Dude this shits sooo fun!
keeping one landers and saying always how unlucky he is xD .
37:06 did you miss lethal?
Attack with Nacatl, if no blocks, command for 3 damage and +1/+1, opponent goes from 11 to 4, W6 pings, bolt for lethal?
Feels like a Seal of Fire or two wouldn't hurt for a little more removal. Can even double down on them with Renegade (or use them to trigger Riot when we dont have a fetch in hand or Wrenn&6). Lurrus could rebuy our Landfall guys if we're slowed down with early removal.
I wish the Knight of the Reliquary had done more, it's a really sweet card
I enjoyed watching this. Infinitely better then watching standard!
Have you considered Seal of Fire in the board? It kills Thalia and Cat Jesus, triggers Revolt and Rallier can get it back. Seal and a ping from Wrenn and Six kills crabs, too.
i wish there is a budget version of this deck, would love to play it
Seriously though
I dont know if it was relevant in the end, but game 1 against mill you left a couple points of damage on the table by not going horizon canopy into nacatl and then fetching into sacred foundry on turn 2
As a Death's Shadow player, when I realize my opponent is on naya zoo or selesnya value-town, I see my odds plummet. There aren't enough 1 for 1's. lol
Any consideration for Oboro, Palace in the Clouds? Great singleton "colorless" land that guarantees landfall every turn. Also turns on revolt for Renegades off the top
It'd be interesting to build this with a transformational sideboard to W6 control. Something like Evolution Sage and Life from the Loam
7:49
That's just so true. Jund just is bad. Extremely expensive but bad.
BTW. 41:41 why not play wrenn and kill the wall?
11:00 tick up on the token and bolt the pyromancer? Then it's a losing proposition for opponent to start the race, so at least you either force something else or buy a bunch of time.
Is it worth it to slot in a jegantha just because you can?
At 22:43 or so you punted. Opponent was tapped out, so you could safely crack Canyon first, which if it revealed an Atarka's Command (which is what happened), you would have won the game.
That crypt incursion tho.... Like.. Fffffuuuuu
I think Felidar Retreat would be great in this deck, maybe drop a wild nacatl or two
Maybe cleansing wildfire is better than alpine moon for land hate because it doesn't really dilute the deck to side in
0:18 can I still preorder Zendikar Rising a week after it’s official release? Hmmmm 🤔
Missed lethal 37.30? Attack no block Atarka pump and bolt for 7 bolt to 10 and wren for 11
I was playing landfall aggro with brushfire if you play fetch crack it and scapeshift for 4 lands on turn 4 its a 13/13 played a game where i got turn 3 with 2 13/13 brushfires using aethervial and arboreal grazer
"What do we have that's good against Jund?"
Yes
W-what are you doing steppe lynx
[[Curse of Disturbance]]
Would you splash blue if this was your list so you can play uro?
Out of curiosity why no skyclave pickaxe?
is the audio always ahead? I always hear you say scoops it up befor the popup happens
Why didn't you upload the loss to boggles??
34:00 it's because you bolted lurus instead of pathing
I lost it at Cat Jesus hahahaha
Yeah, pretty sure keeping that 1-lander was the right play. A second arbiter before the first path was literally the only punish, one turn later and it probably wouldn't have worked.
Now play that Mill deck. Seems like mill may have moved up a tier.
I have no w6, but double landfall and battle rage you!
Horizon canopy mvp
Wow, 80% of this deck is in Pauper actually! 😮 Which is kind of shocking considering this is Modern. Aggro commons hahaha!
Have you made any changes to this deck since this video?
I am currently building naya landfall with the new beast that bounces a land, and skyclave pick axe, and the new geopede. Same list but not running the 3 drops or planeswalkers. I'm running paths and searing blaze.
I feel like W6 belongs in the deck simply because its a RG Crucible of Worlds that also shuts down opposing X/1s. If you really don't like W6 you can put 1 or 2 in sideboard
What about Ramunap Excavator instead of W6 for a more budget version ...
coco would be good here
“I really hate basic plains” - I see you agree with WOTC on one thing
I feel like felidar retreat needs to be in this list somewhere
Where’s that one of Titanic Ultimatum?
What happened in the game against the mill deck game 1? Seth has 18 cards in library and suddenly after two crab triggers it's empty? It should be 3 per land. Can someone explain? 🤔
Archive Trap.
I would play Tireless Tracker for sure if I built this.
Yeah I would maybe run tracker over knight
No ranger of eos?
Why not Skyclave Pickaxe??
OMG 1 land keep vs death and taxes xD
Saw the mill match and now I need another shower
"and can give them reach for some reason" Seth doesn't give a shit about power. he's about lore and appropriate color pie effects!!
Keeping a one lander against Death & Taxes huh? What did you expect?
Why no Wayward Guide-Beast ??
Not taking out the hound but something else, why not not lower the curve and play less lands
your D&T opponent should have value ghost quartered your fetch that second game to make you draw a land for landfall.
What are you doing, steppe-lynx?
It's all fun and games until Nacatl comes with a fresh deck to avenge Harambe.
Anybody else notice that Young Pyromancer made a Voice token?
Literally had to search for this comment to make sure that I wasn't crazy
2:55 8+9=15, 8+9+4=19
"Dragonlord Sluimgar"
Never change seth, never change
I think it was too greedy keeping that hand against taxes. Way too greedy
Elvish reclaimer is better than wild nacatl
Umm seth?
8 + 9 = 17, not 15
Hi
This deck could really use Elvish Reclaimer and Flagstones of Trokair. It's like having a cheaper Knight of the Reliquary and allows for toolbox land shenanigans.
Why do people still play jund, out of curiosity. nostaliga?
dude never played kotr
Yo
It's not that Jund can't beat these decks, it's that Jund is hard to play and these players don't know how to beat these decks
Found the Jund player
@@myloglaisek5718 I've played Jund exactly twice in my whole life, with borrowed decks.
