You made a mistake on mounts, the bear and horse are the same speed so there is rarely a reason to go for the horse unless you really want a mount a few turns earlier I guess
Different animation speed... meaning bear is slower..

Thanks so much for this video. I first found your videos back with your excellent "How to Play the Empire in 2021" (I got to the Total War series late, so this video was a huge, huge help).
I really appreciate the way you set up your videos, talking about the units, but also giving extraordinarily helpful army composition guides. Thanks again, this is really top tier stuff.
The main problem I’ve had is dealing with big quantities of large as Kislev, Ogres especially. In campaign, Katarin at least has Glaive Ice Guard which can fill this role for super cheap, but overall the faction lacks any decent holding unit against large. Glaive IG do good damage but they’re really quite squishy for the cost if employed by a regular lord, and the budget option of the Regular Spear Kossars similarly lack good staying power. I really hope the Armored Spear Kossars get unrestricted from just the prologue. I think they’d fit this role well and the faction would still be balanced.
That's the same for almost every single human faction in total war, try using the frost spell ice sheet and then just nuke whatever large target that is charging you with all your ranged units instead of trying to pin it in place with infantry.
I always get my ass kicked by Norscan mammoths. They just explode through my armoured kossars and eat my backline alive.
Love all these, I was able to get into the second Warhammer game by following the guides you made for those, and now after floundering when I tried to do demon prince as my first campaign, I’m feeling a lot more prepared for a second attempt after watching this series

Something I think you really need to call out a little more is magical attacks on certain units, like the Ice Guard you skipped. Ice Guard for instance having magical melee AND ranged is absolutely bonkers for their potential as sniping high priority armored targets and beating back even heavily armored enemies that otherwise would need Tzar Guard to be supported by solid range and flanking shock.
Magical attack do nothing versus armor. Magical attack is used to break physical resistance

@@bjornvahlberg3474it still is really usefull. as kislev you mostly fight chaos, and all demon units have 20% resistance

honestly man..thank you for doing this video. it was informative, and amazingly done. I love using the human race in Warhammer, and was blown away by Kislev, but was rather overwhelm with everything that was happening. however with this video, thank you for guiding us Kislev Mains:)
Love your videos. Another cool video idea (though very intensive) could be a example build vs each other factions So like a quick "here's how you might want to build a bit differently vs Ogres, vs Khorne, etc ). This would of course be more multiplayer focused and also the meta changes overtime so overall I'm not sure it's a great idea but I would like it nonetheless thought I'd mention! Thanks for the vids
4:00: Heroic Resilience doesn't do anything for Boris's troops. It only buffs him once his hp drop below 50%.

By Our Blood is the fucking bane of my existence. Like, I build me entire army to cause chain routes and there they go just not giving a fuck. It's hard enough to beat them down as it is bc all of their late game units are covered in armor and have AP.
Was here for the 10k and for the 20k. Glad I’ll be here for the 30k very soon.

They'll figure it out on their own when a norscan raider is about to hit them over their head ^^
Funny army comp, I personally prefer Tempest Witch lord + priest, 2 groms, 6 Bear Riders, 4 Gryphon legions, and 6 Streltsi or Ice guard - sometimes go 3 by 3 on those. Just let the enemy come at me, take as much damage as possible, then rush them with bears, and circle them them with horsies while the guns shoot at anything still standing after the charge.

I will cut off one tzar gurad and one ice bowman for two heavy slides. They always take some enemy units after them, and if this is cav i make them go to meet my cav on bears. So enemy cav is fust demolish (as they need to fight with my slides and cav), and as enemy get to my line they both come buck attacking from back. and because slides shoot from far distance they can even run enought far from Slanesh cav. And because front line is strong I can focus on just managing these 4 units 2 slides and 2 cav. 3 slides are sometimes too much.... but only sometimes :D. And in Catrin army you don't need tzar guard, you just go with ice bowmam ;)

I was most excited for Kislev and it looks like they're as good as I'd hoped. I've heard that wh3 is buggy and runs like a war wagon, do you recommend waiting or getting on my bear now?
I've only had 1 bug and it runs fine for me

It is buggy and hard to run but nothing that affects the gameplay too much

Bringing anything that isn't either a bear or riding a bear is heresy.

speared kossar are worse than regular kossar they have lesser stat everywhere in exchange they get 2 mele defence and a bonus anti large that isn't usefull early game

You've gotta spend more time on the unit cards, Colonel! Break down the weapon strength more, tell us the exact anti-large or anti-infantry bonuses, give us the AP/base damage break downs! Maybe even experiment with them at max ranks, to see how their stats improve over time. Besides that, these videos are dynamite, thanks so much!

I tried getting into Kislev but I keep getting shredded even by weak norscan armies full of marauders. I try to play smart with crossing firing arcs, flanking, cycle-charging, debuffing priority targets... but it just doesnt seem enough. The heroes also feel extremely weak compared to what Valkia kept throwing at me, her heroes seemed to solo half my army, let alone her, she just wrecking-balled everything.
I think I'll pass on Kislev, I seem to be too smooth-brained for it.

I wish the Lord didn't have bears. They gave too many lords bears.
Empire has horse-pegasus-gryphon mounts for nearly every lord, some casters just dont get gryphon (but Amber wizards still get a gryphon).
4 leopards in the army? They are useless as a separate unit, the worst unit in the whole roster, dies to basically any infantry and due to leopard's low mass, it can't escape! It's better to get another cossar unit instead of poor kitty. They should only be used as a summons for +15% phys. res.
Also it's a no-brainer to use REGULAR cossars instead of spears. Why? They don't need any building to recruit, that's why! Kislev's economy is very slow to build, you'll need every possible slot for economy buildings + you'll need churches for devotees/patriarchs + walls! Also, 4 melee defence won't make any significant difference.
Kossars with spears are part of the same chain that gives you Armored Kossars and Streltsi. You absolutely want that, and relatively early. Armored Kossars are your first real frontline scrappers and Streltsi are your earliest way to effectively deal with monstrous units and chew up Chaos Warriors and Marauder Champions.
@@magni5648 Kossars ARE your frontline, you just use them in checkerboard. Several units got wiped out? Who cares, next turn they'll be replaced. They are super convenient, unlike other variants.
Streltsi are okay unit but they are expensive, ~x2,5 cost of kossar. You have enemies all around you, so more armies are needed, 1 stack of strong units is inferior to 2 kossar trashstacks + 1-2 groms strategically.
@@Jayton.Olerie Having to constantly recruit new units both fucks you up in terms of unit experience and will wipe out most of the upkeep you save. Kislev can get good replenishment early on, and Armored Kossars take so little losses against basic marauders and the like that they just replenish it all most of the time. They end up more cost-effective than their price in unarmored Kossars pulling frontline duty.
Streltsi are absolutely vital the moment high-armour stuff hits the field. Kossars can't deal with that, multiple units of them concentrating fire on one heavy unit still doesn't get you as much damage as a single unit of Streltsi. And if you haven't stabilised by the time you can get Grom, you've fucked up something.
And for checkerboarding you want the spear variant even more, simply because they'll last slightly longer vs infantry and won't get run over within seconds by anything bigger.
Also, just make friends with the Imperials and after the first rifts send a stack down to Sylvania. Kicking Mannfred to the curb allows the Empire and Zhufbar to stabilise and through that does more to secure your borders than another fullstack ever could. And taking his gold mine makes a shitload of money in a province that is basically completely safe as long as you got a Patriarch there to close rifts.

"Katarina is decent in melee." Bitch, she is a melee champ. Tier 9 exalted demons have a problem with her and I can't seem to build an Undivided Prince of Chaos that can handle her
