The band is solid and Nic is driving the rhythm exceptionally well. If you watch him closely you will some of young Phil Collins mannerisms on the drums. So cool. Phil must be so proud. Phil is his worst critic and has admitted his challenges at singing during this tour but he has been through so much. Some people are disappointed but I for one see a man with resilience and courage, doing it for his fans.
Nic is incredible. He really settled in over the extra year off from your. I'm going just to be in the room with them, so it's a big Plus that the show is incredible too 😜
My God, Phil improved A LOT! I'm so happy seing this, he seems younger than in the last couple of months/apparitions. More energetic, too. I really think his health is getting better as the tour goes. You're the man, Phil!! Keep up the legend!
Totally agree! I went to the Liverpool show the day before and as the show progressed he seemed to visibly and vocally become younger, amazing really! The tour and the love he is receiving seem to be helping him no end thankfully 😊
Amazing sound quality in this video. Very well done. Phil looks far more energetic in this performance than in any of the others I have seen, and his vocal sounds much stronger. Nic is definitely walking in his father shoes. I love the fact that generally during instrumentals, Phil is watching his son. (Watching him 'conduct' the crowd reminded me of Peter Tork who used to do that, and he'd always say "Cool" afterward.)
I like what Nic brings. He doesn’t have his dad’s feel or his subtlety moving around the kit, but he’s 20. His prime isn’t for another 10-15 years. But the experience playing with Phil’s band and Genesis is priceless.
@@ThomasEdward: I saw an interview with him where he says that in his other band, his kit is much smaller. More like a Chad Smith size - who he's very influenced by. While in some instances size matters, I'm not sure his experience or talent level should determine the size of his kit.
Amazing drummer, but Genesis live should always be two drummers, it provides that extra energy that has always distinguished Genesis from the pack, #Chester Thompson
I LOVE Nic. So glad he came on board to uplift Genesis to the 21st Century. Without Nic, there would be no GENESIS now. I know Jason Bonham came close to filling those shoes a few years back when he had a lengthy audition with Phil, but it didn't happen. Thank God for Nic. He's a powerhouse in a way that even Phil wasn't at his age!!!!
Best thing I have heard from this tour on YT, thankfully Mike and Darryl are on their master instruments and not switched which I could never understand.
The newer material Mike generally plays guitar & Daryl plays bass. The older 4-5 lineup material has Daryl on lead because he’s much more proficient to play Steve & Ant’s parts.
I was at this gig and I think this clip really shows the amazing atmosphere from the crowd. I was one of the small people at the back mixed with some of the people over 'there'. My brother saw them in Birmingham a few days earlier and said there were a few "surprises" in the set. Stagnation was one of them for me. I won't ruin those other surprises too much for other people, but I will say that Peter Gabriel era fans won't be disappointed by the setlist on The Last Domino.
I'm so glad they performed the instrumental section of Firth of Fifth in the original key. At least this will be one oasis of salvation when I see them at the O2 next Wednesday.
A bit of an overstatement to claim this includes Stagnation. They've been playing it like that for years and I would never even have noticed the reference without the video title and while it clearly is Stagnation, I'm not surprised they've never claimed it themselves.
Daryl is no Hackett but he is still nonetheless a superb guitarist. He just puts his own stamp on things. Some fans will be moaning because he didnt hit the notes exactly the same as the original but nobody can do it like Steve. Accept it, enjoy it and stop being miserable.
Here's my question: We know Nick Collins has really proved himself as an EXCELLENT drummer...but can he sing? I see him mouthing the words back there...I wonder if he is keeping that talent under wraps for another time....hm.
Simon can sing. He sounds a lot like his dad. He also plays drums damn good as well. There's a vid of Simon and Phil playing drums side by side in a club. Check out Simon's video of his cover of "Keep it Dark." I felt I had to say something in light of Nic getting all this attention because Phil has another son who is very talented as well.
I see there’s an argument flourishing on here about who’s best…Steve or Daryl….sounds like the Dream Theater fans throwing their toys out of the pram over Mike Portnoy and Mike Mangini. 😂😂 Steve Hackett’s like Portnoy……he’s gone, live with it and enjoy what you’ve got FFS.
Excellent guitarist though Darryl Steurmer is, he just doesn't have that magic feel that Steve Hackett has. Hackett's Genesis Revisited was much better than this.
Sorry , but nobody compares to Steve Hackett as most Genesis fans of a certain age ( I'm 66 ) will agree with . Havkets firth of fifth is all about feel and emotion , not how many notes you can squeeze in . Daryl's good but he's a bit of a nurdler IMHO
this has ALWAYS been a debate....PRIMARILY THEY ARE 2 DIFFERENT PEOPLE!.....Daryl did a wonderful job......Steve Hackett is amazing guitarist...(he is however a 1 trick pony to a certain extent)
