The issue with your tactic wasn’t lining up the middle. You have to zoom to the point where the map displays the whole world but only once. When you were doing it, parts of the world were not even visible throwing off your guesses.
I think the antipode isn’t on the map if you perfectly line up the location to the center. See how the edges on either side of the map don’t match. There’s a part in between the two edges that isn’t showing.
The reason why it wasnt working js thst yoyr zoom in the map didnt encompass the entire world, so you were always slightly closer than the opposite side of the world
i think a good way to think about it is thinking about the time zone and click somewhere on the opposite side of the equator that has exactly 12 hours of difference. it works well in some rounds when you know the utc's of the regions well :)
Those small islands SE of New Zealand you went to several times, are called Antipodes Islands, because they are the nearest land to the antipodes of London
I think you needed to be slightly further than the edge of the map to be as far as possible. In the start of the video your centering was slightly off and that actually helped
I have another one for you (just made it up). You play the most famous 5k places (Eifel Tower, Red Square etc) and you also have only 5 HP. So the fun part is getting only 1 damage away from the 5k. So you both have to be on point, but sliiiiightly off
yeah Zigzag some ppl noticed it already, your tactics would work if you would join (like "stitch") left side of screen with right and see whole globe at once. Yet at some rounds entire India and China was missing from your view. Weird thing was, once you got 22pts (and maybe even earlier, when you realized that Lennli was further away on most of the "drawn" rounds) I was kinda surprised that you sticked to the strat, which was clearly not working- and no, perfect lining wouldnt help. He went on parts of world you didnt even have on the map. Nice vid tho, the antipode points arent so obvious for most ppl.
could do same concept with having to guess on the correct continent/country. Or have it where u have to have guessed once on each continent by the end of the game
Nice idea but I think it gets very boring after few rounds. A better idea might be playing with default settings and guessing only inside the continent (or country, but guessing the country sometimes might be very hard) of the location. If one guesses the wrong continent he loses. I think this is more fun to watch since the duels will last something like no more than 7/8 rounds
@@Lennli Maybe give more HP but then you have to choose somewhere with official Street View coverage? I don't know if that's always clear, how fine you would want to define "coverage" (i.e., do you need an actual road or is the country fine?), and whether or not you would want to use Trekker coverage. It does seem likely to boil down to just one or two rounds and that, again, places like Europe and NZ would be boring. @Germexican6f, they (or someone else) did a similar thing where you played to win, but guessing the correct country was an instant loss. It was fun for a few games.
I think the easiest way to play this is just to think of the timezone of the loc. Then add or minus 12hrs, think of where has that timezone, and is on opposite side of equator. If i was good at geoguessr normally i think that’s a very manageable way to do it lmao
Honestly the idea is really good and pretty hilarious already, but your lineup with the map not showing the world world is even more hilarious! Rookie mistake, I guess, in some sense :)
Imagine an antipode mod! where your goal is literally to guess as far away as possible, and it scores you based on the antipode of the actual location and shows you both 🤯
The way the earth goes round would have thrown me off so much even if I was good enough to know the correct locations. (Sorry if this gets mentioned in the video, I'm like halfway through)
You can also Google image search for "antipodal map." You'd see that NZ is antipodal with Spain, with A Coruña being right in the middle of South Island, west of Christchurch. Ireland is much too far north.
This concept but you cant guess the same place twice and with like 10hp. So like with europe rounds youre forced to choose the next best option after new zealand
@@dogukanakdag7546 due to mercator projection it might seem far away, but for example for a loc around the equator antarctica will always be like 15 points
The best way to get 0 points is to flip the location across the equator and have the longitude with respect to the prime meridian equal to the longitude with respect to the international date line. For example if the true location was 100 km north of the equator and 500 km west of the prime meridian, you should guess 100 km south of the equator and 500 km west of the international date line.

correct. i realised this straight after filming

I could be wrong, but wouldn't the "opposite side of the screen" tactic only work if the map is sized exactly to the window and not zoomed in/out?

This is the absolute first geoguessr video that I can relate to! 😂
I think adding stricter requirements like having to go the right country or continent could be cool here

One way to make it more difficult, the olayer should have to point within the country border, but as far as possible from the spown point

Would love to see this versus on the map that has every country (would probably need the car blocking script)

Finally, a game mode I’m good at!
i love your videos and this is an amazing idea
You should do this same game but you can only guess each country once (ex. If you guess NZ you can’t go there again)
Bro miscalculated
If the map perfectly showed the entire world once your tactic would’ve worked, but because the map is too small you always guessed too close
2:03 The blue license plates are used on diplomatic vehicles in Norway, these ones were by the Russian consulate(?) in Kirkenes by the Russian border
