The use of the old Exin Castillos vintage pseudo-LEGO castle blocks is fascinating. We had a bunch of those as a kids. I think my younger brother ended up with them.
Our son played D&D when he was young. He moved, and I used his blocks. I used a grinder and painted them to make them look old. Thanks for the comment. 👍
Totally loved the layout, forward the video to my son and a buddy. I also loved all the aircraft, beautiful collection. I was a crew chief/door gunner on a huey as a scout in Viet Nam 67 to 69 82nd airborne scout 69. Also went to school for my A&P mechanics license, pilots license and Flight Engineer and enlisted in air force as flight engineer on C5A/B and C142A/B aircraft for a total of twenty five years of military aircraft service. Trains and planes what a wonderful life!!! Thank you for sharing your museum quality empire.
The amount of never ending tedious detail places this piece of art work among one of the FINEST layouts ever...Right up there with the South Manchester Hampton.
Fantastic layout! Every Sunday morning I like to watch model train videos and much to my surprise I am hearing names of places near my hometown of Myerstown! Decades ago my grandpa and I frequented a train shop set in a back alley in Annville.
That is a beautiful layout. Wow. Mr. Bowers is very talented. Thank you both for sharing. I really enjoyed your video. I'll search for others. I also love your knowledge of H.O. building kits. HA! that's great. I remember all those too! Thanks alot.
Super nice layout with a lot of cool details. Jim Bowers did an excellent job... The video is very well done also so Kudos to you both. Phil Jersey Shore Area
Very nice layout. The jet aircraft that looks like it is actually flying is a 737. A 727 would have an engine on each side of the fuselage on the tail section, and a third engine where the tail come up from the fuselage for a total of 3 engines. A 737 only has 2 engines, one mounted under each wing.
Very, very nice looking layout. I really appreciate your videos and listening to the modelers who build their layouts. I always come away with new ideas. And the willingness of the people who explain how they build and create things. It’s certainly made me a better modeler. Thanks
That is flat out the best background I've ever seen. I know you explained how you got the layered effect with the bigger background buildings, but there has to be so much more technique, perception and skill involved. I'm not going to say that other skilled modelers backgrounds are inferior, but I've not seen one yet that truly captures the realism and the perfect homogeneous mesh between the building structures and the photographic background images. It's like comparing a Hunter Biden original work de art to the Mona Lisa. It falls just a tad short! VERY well done, Jim!
It gets very dusty. It just looks like part of the scenery. I use a solft fine nylon paint brush to clean the structures as needed. Running trains keep the track clean.
Holy guacamole batman... This is an AWESOME layout... SO MUCH DETAIL... This dude has some major talent and is so creative.

Wow. That's just unbelievably incredible! What a layout. Not one square inch was overlooked.
What an unbelievable talent. It is so realistic and detailed, almost beyond belief.
Awesome details throughout! The best kit bashing and scratch building I have seen! It really looks much bigger than its real size.
The backdrops and the overall attention to detail are absolutely amazing!
Absolutely amazing detail. This is one of the best layouts I've seen.
The most beautiful layout I ever seen Really, like the detail

Amazing scenery and buildings....but the B-52 flying behind the backdrop takes the cake! That is the definition of a "MAN CAVE"!
I noticed something on the wall and I just want to say, Ohhh Rahh, Semper Fi, Marine. Cheers from an old Marine Sergeant in eastern TN
Semper Fi, Marine as well.
Super nice layout with a lot of cool details. Jim Bowers did an excellent job...
The video is very well done also so Kudos to you both.

Born in Altoona, PA and raised in Pittsburgh(McKeesport and Homestead areas), this reminds me of both of them.
How awesome. That's gorgeous 💕💕
Fantastic layout. Well done Jim. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice work and well-done layout, a lot of hours in that.
Hello, very nicely designed layout, congratulations and greetings, Toni
Wonderful layout, very atmospheric and realistic!
Great video and incredible layout!!!
Nice layout. Coal mine rocks.
amazing work.
Beautiful layout.
I love flying as much as trains. It’s a Boing 737-200
I'm surprised that the Code Enforcement guys haven't cited Joe's Garage for all the junk on the town street. Nice job, Al.
Great detail, awesome!!!

AWESOME LAYOUT
I think when nobody is around little people come out and live there!
Thank for sharing
Thanks for sharing
Awesome
Incredible layout. Love all of Jim’s scratch built buildings. Where did he say he found the photos of the tall buildings at the back of the layout?
Don't know hopefully he will answer
On my pike, I’d have a railroad cop standing back while the taggers scrub the walls clean - with caustic cleaners.
Anyone know where to get that steel mill backdrop? And no, that IS a 737.
737 true 🙂
Nice
Would like to know a little bit about his signaling, train detectors, and the power source/throttle
All I know is that it is all dcc controlled
Fantastic, but, where is it ?. Maybe we can visit him one day ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
How do you keep it dust free?
It gets very dusty. It just looks like part of the scenery. I use a solft fine nylon paint brush to clean the structures as needed. Running trains keep the track clean.
That United plane is a Boeing 737 200. The general aviation plane is a V tailed Bonanza
Can you buy or get Butterfly Trees?
I have not seen them offered for sale but they are harvested in the fall and Jim and I may be able to make a batch check back in September
Was a Boeing 737!
737-200 :)
That was not a 727. 727s have 3 engine at the rear.
Beautiful layout
