In this Witcher 3 Lore Video, Drew explains the story of Geralt.
Released on the 19th of May, 2015, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is an open world, third-person perspective videogame in which players control Geralt of Rivia. The game is based on The Witcher series of fantasy novels written by Polish Author, Andrzej Sapkowski. The main story follows Geralt searching for his missing adopted daughter, named Ciri. She is fleeing from an otherworldly force who are determined to find her and use her powers for themselves. During the game, players will interact with a variety of fleshed out characters, using a variety of tactics to complete side quests, developing their skills as they acquire more experience points. The gear Geralt uses can also be changed by players purchasing new items and using in-game materials to forge from scratch. The main plot has multiple endings, all of which are determined by the player's choices at various points throughout the videogame. The Witcher 3 is available on Xbox One, Playstation 4, and Microsoft Windows.

Most people see him that way, and I think the same way. The thing is that it's perspective. If he's a rarity in that behavior and most humans don't think that way, than he's less human. He's actually more of something humans define as what their idea is of a human, or being human.

Honest to god, Geralt of Rivia is one of my favorite fictional/ video game characters of all time.
For someone "who has no humanity" he has more morals than most of the chraracters in the books/ games.
My first time playing witcher 3 (and my first entry into the game) was amazing. I knew nothing about geralt. But after 70 hours on my FIRST playthrough, i learned how lorely rich he was and that he was full of emotion. From being an adopted father to Ciri to being Yens lover (i havent tried triss yet)
And he shows he's capable in those roles, yet the rules of this universe and his being state he isnt.

I was absolutely mortified to find out who Netflix had chosen to depict Geralt. However, within a single episode, found my preconceived notions were terribly wrong. Henry Cavill remains more muscular than Geralt has been depicted. Aside from this, from his mannerisms to his voice, it lines up very well. I am thoroughly enjoying the show and have just ordered the books. Thank you for this. I had no familiarity with the previous games, or the books when I started playing The Witcher 3, but after starting to play, I quickly noticed how human Geralt is. How he's more human than most, more than many of the very people who scoff at him for being a witcher. "The Black Pearl" is the quest that truly made me realise how emotional he is, how kind he is. Sure, he may be sarcastic and cynical at times, but Dandelion is right--Geralt is a great, loyal person. That quest in particular proved it to me. In that quest, when the soldier tells you his wife, in the end, didn't react to the pearl and the reason why, you can actually see the secondhand pain and empathy ooze from Geralt's eyes. Possibly because it reminds him of how he and Yennefer lost their memories (their amnesia), and that the soldier's situation would've been the fate of any of the two if one hadn't gotten their memory back but the other did. I imagine he thought of him still loving Yennefer but her not remembering him. Just the way he looked and behaved after the soldier said that made me realise that Geralt really is kinder than anyone.
I wish people in that universe could see that. At least you can do quests and change people's minds one quest at a time.

We actually don't know how true that is. All we actually know is that Eskel and Lambert have brown hair, and that Geralts mutations were particularly brutal. The vast majority of the school of the Wolf were butchered, including most of those of Geralts age. White hair may have been quite common before the storming of Cair Morhen, we just don't know.

I love this video. For one thing, the commentary is well thought out and on point, very well pronounced and spoken, and the actual video itself is just spellbinding! I want to see so much more! What I'd like to know is more about Geralt's childhood years, and what color was his hair originally? How old was he when he first was brought to the Witchers? Why did his parents give him up?

Geralts job isn't entirely thankless, a lot of the people he helps are often very grateful for his help, especially if he doesn't just try to get coin out of them. I'm sure these people won't be so quick to judge a witcher in the future because now they've met one as honorable as Geralt, at least my games version of him.

It never made sense that people despise the Witchers. After all, there are still many monsters left and everyone would be happy and maybe even grateful that someone trained professionally would take of them. So average folks don't have to.
Witchers are somewhat scary but why would a regular person attack or insult him if they were so scared?!

Playing through the Witcher 3 game and reading the books, I realised that true monsters are human. They dealt much cold blooded cruelty to each other and to other sentient beings in the name distorted righteousness, misled chivalry and pathetic courage, when deep down, it's because of their greed, cowardice and vanity. And the horrors they inflicted upon nature!! Human destroy everything anywhere they go....
