In this Witcher 3 Lore Video, Drew takes you through the Lore surrounding Noonwraiths and Nightwraiths.
Released on the 19th of May, 2015, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is an open world, third-person perspective videogame in which players control Geralt of Rivia. The game is based on The Witcher series of fantasy novels written by Polish Author, Andrzej Sapkowski. The main story follows Geralt searching for his missing adopted daughter, named Ciri. She is fleeing from an otherworldly force who are determined to find her and use her powers for themselves. During the game, players will interact with a variety of fleshed out characters, using a variety of tactics to complete side quests, developing their skills as they acquire more experience points. The gear Geralt uses can also be changed by players purchasing new items and using in-game materials to forge from scratch. The main plot has multiple endings, all of which are determined by the player's choices at various points throughout the videogame. The Witcher 3 is available on Xbox One, Playstation 4, and Microsoft Windows.

Love that real life version. Lay down and wait for her to pass. Basically saying simply lay down and rest.
I've suffered heat stroke and can tell you it is not fun at all. I drank four liters of water within twenty minutes and then slept uninterrupted for over twenty hours. The worst head ache you could possibly imagine and intense pain in the neck and shoulders. It feels like you're dying.

    • @bxmully
      @bxmully 2 роки тому +2

The neck and head pain is probably from electrolyte imbalance. Consider using an oral rehydration solution. I forget the exact ratio but it's a specific amount of sugar and salt mixed into a liter of water. This is also used to rehydrate ppl with dysentery which kills millions every year.

Honestly the idea of noon wraiths is pretty horrifying. Them and their “real” counterparts. The thing you mentioned about seeing her before she sees you and lying down very still. The idea of waiting for her to pass and hoping she doesn’t find you gives me severe anxiety lol excellent video. You do a great job explaining the lore.

I loved the combat in Wither 3 so much that I always excitedly chased down whatever monsters I saw. All except for the Wraiths that is. Whenever I encountered wraiths I’d immediately start to panic, slap on specter oil, equip my crappy base level Yerden and a crap-ton of food and water. I would then proceed to flail about like a lunatic while yelling at both Geralt and the wraith for not staying in the stupid circle... God I love this game lol ;)

imo, wraiths (noon or night) are the easiest foe to encounter, but are the scariest. second scariest would be fiends and leshen (the wendigo looking creatures). now for those guys, I slap on a lot of oil and pack up lots of food xD

@@fuzzydunlop7928 It's typically a cockney feature that's common in a few English dialects and in non-native speakers. Often seen as "low-English" but is fairly common and widespread. Notably common around Bristol, London, and Essex. It's not uncommon in some parts of Australia, mainly the gold coast thanks to lots of Londoners settling there during the gold rush, but it's not a typical feature of Australian accents.

Noonwraiths are definitely a surprise to me, as in most fantasy, incorporeal undead are often only seen coming out at night or lurking in dark places. A farm field at high noon is the last place I would expect to meet a specter.

in the Philippines we have creaturels like noonwraiths, they are called "white ladies". White Ladies, indigenously known as kaperosa, are popular ghost story topics in the Philippines. White Ladies are often used to convey horror and mystery to young children for storytelling. Sightings of White Ladies are common around the country. The most prominent one is the White Lady of Balete Drive in Quezon City. It is said that it is the ghost of a long-haired woman in a white dress who, according to legend, died in a car accident while driving along Balete Drive. Most stories about her were told by taxi drivers doing the graveyard shift, such as when a taxi crosses Balete Drive, and a stunning woman is asking for a ride. The cabbie then looks behind and sees the woman's face was full of blood and bruises, causing him to abandon his taxi in terror.
In other instances, it is said that when solitary people drive on that street in the early morning, they briefly see the face of a white-clad woman in the rear-view mirror before she quickly disappears. Some accidents on this road are blamed on apparitions of the White Lady.
Many sources have said a reporter manufactured this legend in the 1950s as a combination of multiple stories from the area.
When me and my siblings were young, our parents constantly scare us about White Ladies to scare us so that we run back home, they keep tellig us not to play during "midday" and "midnight" or the white lady might get us.

This is the thing I love most about the Witcher - the story is just as much about Geralt & Co. as it is about the monsters of the world. There's so much detail and information about what you're fighting that makes the experience just amazing. It's not just another typical video game enemy, they all have extensive lore that's worked straight into the quests.

Wow, i really should ply the witcher 3 or 2 one of these days. This video already shows me how deep the lore of this whole world is. I legitly felt sorrow for them throughout the video I even almost burst into tears. If they really existed i wouldn't be able to strike them down because of the flood of sorrow they would release upon resurrection.

How sad. Great story telling btw. You guys are very good at telling stories and you don't sound like your trying too hard like some other youtubers.

the night-wraith reminds me a little of the grey lady in its origin story being the ghost of a bride although they usually haunt the place the wedding would have taken place. There's one said to haunt the Halls of Alvaston Hall as well as several cathedrals and churches throughout Britain

I always wondered why normal Wraiths Carry lanterns. Poes in Zelda do the same thing, I wonder where it comes from

Would be cool if you also included the reallife mythological inspiration of the witcher creatures in your videos.
These wraiths are clearly inspired by the slavic Wili. Spirits of Brides who died before the Wedding. The Ballet "Giselle" is a story about Wili.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't these rooted in slavic mythology? I seem to remember something about it being in russian folklore.

That's very likely the crones are based on a Slavic legend so it seems likely that a lot of other creatures would be
