      This is Fminor to C and back to F, I really need the A! And the E then brought back right round to the F! It's time to play the F chord if you caaaaaaaaaan! And heeeeere am I struggling with the F chord, doing it, the barchord way. The F chord makes me blue, makes guitar damned hard too. . .

    2 1/2 years Marty has gave to me hours and hours of personal one on one training via youtube, everyone says now , well done teaching yourself how to play, I never thought I could ever play a tune , got given a guitar by chance and now thanks to you Marty I can play , THANKS

    As I beginner, at first I was like "oh that's easy I can totally play C and Em" and then he started playing barre chords all over the place and I was like "no No NO!"

      EDIT: Now I can play the whole song. If you are just starting out don't fret (pun intended). I've realized it's easier to learn barre chords than you might think.

    My Boyfriend had a stroke, and he's in a nursing home now it's over abilitations nursing home and he's able to have his guitar and this helps so much thank you for all you do. Now he'll call me and he'll ask for Marty music guitar songs.

    I have watched many of these online line acoustic lessons. You were my first and now my only as you are by far the absolute best teacher out there.I just wanted to thank you for taking me in a very short time from an average campfire strummer to a 1/2 decent 12 string guitar player. You da bomb. if you are ever in Boston I have plenty of acoustics if you want to hang.

      The best thing I like is he plays the entire thing first so you know exactly what you will be learning first instead of them teaching you something then they play it and it turns out to be a different version of the song not the actual chords

    Thanks to Marty and 2 years of dedication... I was able to learn how to play this within about 5 minutes, just from watching the intro. Marty, I wish you had a subscription thing or a patreon or something because I would totally be willing to spend $5 or $10 a month!

    Actually, the E minor chord in the 'floating round my tin can" part is actually a G major with an E. You can see it in the video for Space Oddity as well as live shows.

      You are nearly right. At around 3:50 in the official video at „floating round my tin can“ you can see that he moves the Fmaj7/C chord (033210) two frets up which gives 055430 or EDGBDE which is just an Em7. Interesting way to play the Em7. Did not find this in any chord library but it works.

    I've been playing guitar on and off for about 5/6 years and I'm finally good at bar chords, advice: guitar is one of the easier instruments to get good at (hard to master like all instruments) but just stick to it and don't give up and don't take year long breaks like me

    The intro is Fmaj7 / Em then, when the vocal comes in, it’s C (G bass note) / Em.

    Thanks for the lesson Marty. I actually used to know this song but forgot it. Had to brush up on it here. I do have a correction for you though but maybe I am wrong. It sounds to me on the studio recording like the intro is F7major to Em then it switched to C to Em when he starts singing. It seems to fit perfect.
