okay i SWEAR we all didn't sit down and all decide to play Isabella she's just very very good okay. you mean to say i just get gold? for free? yeah i sure hope it do. MORE VIDEOS COMING OUT SOONTM, who should i play in my first civ 7 stream in the next few weeks? GIVE ME SUGGESTIONS GO:
Maryu India + Charlemagne
Civ for unique anti-district cav and huge happiness bonuses
Chraley for celebrations and mega cav destrucrion
Its fine its not a secret. First time I saw the leaders I decided to play Isabella. Double yield, Nat bias plus early gold bonus is just too sweet.
Thanks for the awesome video!
I would love to see you tackle Harriet Tubman
Aksum!! I haven't see a single video on aksum yet
Ben Franklin with the Maya - go heavy on science and see how far their bonuses drag up culture/production bonuses in its wake
>Declares war unprovoked
>Proceeds to capture multiple cities from neighbor just because they can
>Gets war declarations from every other major power
"WhAt DiD I dO?"
isabella wonder starts again.. ah welcome back civ v
Honestly I'm still learning about Civ 6 right when 7 is coming out. I had no idea that separate landmasses could be settled within the 3 tile range!
It’s great for settling tasmania on a tsl australia game 😂
In Civ V the limit was 2 instead of 3 if separated by water. I think it's also 2 in Civ 6, but boeshius' example made it seem like you could make a city with only 1 tile separating them in Civ 6? not sure it's entirely true, that their immediate 1 tile border radius can intersect. But it's definitely less than usual in 6 as well.
love that they gave you early access.
A couple thoughts I had from this video: that it hightlighted just how well tall gameplay has been reintroduced into the series, how stark but simple the difference between tall vs wide is in Civ 7, and how much more viable different strategies/priorities are vs previous civ games.
I have seen enough previous content to know that a tall player would naturally go after that science path. However, this video has me thinking the difference is more drastic than I had originally guessed. See, a tall player wouldnt just think the 40 yields per tile might be a good idea, a tall player is going to aggressively jump on that like we are foaming at the mouth, compared to this video which completely ignored it in favor of prioritizing expansion and military. Additionally, I hadnt even considered how a wide player might settle those islands differently, though this video makes it obvious. A tall player is likely going to settle far less random spots, thinking the trade off of less towns, but those that yield far stronger treasure fleats will be worth it. Them being much easier to defend is also an important bonus.
I got to admit that I was a little worried when the devs said they brought back tall gameplay, that they had listened to the super loud, Civ 5/6 crowd that almost constantly misrepresented what tall gameplay was. Tall never had anything to do with a 4 city limitation, just like wide never had to do with 5+ cities. It had to do with prioritizing the power of cities that were settled vs the expansion of the empire. Thats it. This video puts any fear I had left of that to bed.
Yet, despite going full wide gameplay to the point of ignoring science flat out, which would normally be a death sentence in just about any previous civ game, you still very clearly came out on top in the age. From an old school tall player, that is awesome! I want many strategies to be viable, I even may want to play wide occasionally myself, that is what makes civ so fun and interesting. I also look forward to perfecting a tall strategy to compete against this in multi-player with my friends ;).
Great video!
Awesome gameplay! You managed to showcase naval warfare really well, majapahit were so cool with the unique boats
just casually dropping that crisis setting is a thing 😂 maybe that was already known but its the first i've seen it.
OUR BABY BOY BOES IS BACK!
Ok, so Isabella is literally just Civ 5 Spain if every wonder was El Dorado... Which had to be banned competitively because of how damn swingy the bonus was.
How interesting that Boes mispronounces the word "piety" and then 30 seconds later pronounces it correctly
Edit: then another 30 seconds later, mispronounces it again!
It was a hell of a ride.
Really nice that we could see warfare, naval and landbased, in the same video. Treasure Fleets seem mighty strong and the goto victory condition.
That was a fun video to watch… highlights how many options there are to win and how much fun it’s going to be to play. Thanks!
Hi Boes, love your videos! One question, it seems going over the settlement cap by +55% (14/9) doesnt hold you back at all. Global happiness still very healthy, cities still have good yields. Is there a catch? Or did you have so much extra happiness that you can afford to have so many settlements. Reason I ask is that I love ICS and dont like sticking to few cities 🙂
BOES! BOES! BOES! I've lowkey been looking forward to another video of Civ 7 from you big guy
lol at your army building forts vs the wind got real "old man yells at cloud" vibes. DAMN WIND GET OUT AND STAY OUT
The “Please Clap” reference was beautiful. Ty Boes.
I hope play as Confucius because I'm very curious about him.
Super glad you're back bro! Love to see it.
i have a question. is the music we hear during the footage directly the music in-game ? because it sounds kind of silly, like a tik-tok music, far from the usual quality music from other civilization opus
Sounds like those songs you could create on old Nokia phones
Okay you predicting that someone would declare war on you and it being someone else three times in a row was hilarious
That wonder: "Jaang Jia Ji-eh"
thank you!
Bro, what in the Day of the Tentacle is this music? 😅
56:14 me when the French fry my brain
where are the smooth borders from Civ 5 ?
Isabella with the python arms looking absolutely swole
Bro single handedly changed a leaders name to Confusions!
Is the kooky horn music the actual game music or did you overlay it? Either way it's perfect.
That is the first time i actually hears civ player pronouncing majapahit perfectly
Boesbro is there a quick movement/combat game option? Glad you got early access dudeman
Just finished a 5 hour game of Civ 6 as John Curtin
I was thinking someone would attack me - fuck I had ALEXANDER in my game - but nobody did except barbarians.
So as best as I can figure out with what little I know about Indonesia Cetbang would be said Set Bah ng. This could be totally wrong but I'm getting this from Ancient Indonesian alphabet whose first letters were Ha Na Ca (Said Sah) Ra (Said Rah) Ka (Said Kah). If you wanted a Ketbang you would use the K but Cetbang would be Set. All this being said there would have been no letter "e" to use in that language. I'm also using Indonesian not Majapahit as that language is not spoken anymore so I chose a close geographic nation.
thank you! after the video i even did more research and i was like man i cannot find anything in regards to this so this absolutely helps
As an indonesian, I'm sure it should be 'chet-bang' (the a in 'bang' the same as in 'Art'. As even in old Javanese (the ones using hanacaraka script you mentioned) they still use the ch sound for Ca like modern Javanese and Indonesian
@ We agree on the Bang as it would be bah ng like bah bah black sheep or Art. I think the issue lays in the C of Cet, I believe it would have been a soft C like Set but Chet could have been it and I can't find anything to back up my way any better than yours. This is the issue with using dead languages.
@MattLVSandman
Its not exactly a dead language. Old Javanese still has many similarities to Modern Javanese, and it can still use the Hanacaraka for its alphabet, where it uses the Ch sound. The soft C (s sound) was never used by local Javanese speakers of any dialect
@ Man I would love to sit down and talk to you. You are right, this is not really a "Dead Language" but more unspoken and migrated.
the momma lizzy's chili oiilllll got me so good. was not expecting that
Can’t be long until civ7 is out now, looking forward to learning it with your help
Ursa bears in chat!!!! Huzzah!
Pronounced as C(er)(t)b(AH)ng, A's are always pronounced as AHs in modern Indonesian. Es can either be air or err
Pronounced as (JH)(AH)ng (Ji-AH) Jie
How to spell "Cetbang"
Cet=Chat
Bang=Bunk
Actually you can read "Cetbang" like "Chat Bunk"
This is Sid Meiers : Humankind. 😂
I mean I love the game in general. But the grey on grey UI🥲🥲🥲
The UI will hopefully be revamped but the "Isabela of the Majapahit Empire" completely ruins my immersion.
@@YMR4CI like the age mechanics but I think you should have kept the same civilization with new leader choices for each age.
o7 Dave will not forget the sacrifice of those brave seamen.
I’m fairly sure the AI will just attack you for no reason 99% of the time of higher difficulties just to mess with your plans
How long until the "Building every Wonder in Civ 7" game?
Fleet Commander Ship committing Buster Call
Just wanted to say, I really liked the intro this video. Idk why, but great job, Boes!
all of my videos should just be the intro over and over again
BOESDAYYYYYYYY
Can you elaborate on why you deem Stewardship useless? It's 8 science / culture / gold for every natural wonder tile. So if it's a 3 tile wonder, it's right away 24 of each. Kinda crazy, no?
Maybe useless was kind of the wrong word - I've found more often than not that other AI settles don't make use of the taking Stewardship - as in they'll settle and only 1 tile will have a wonder in it. You're right that it can be fairly strong - but I think in the majority of my games I took consistency over the extra possible bonuses.
56:20 Mama Liz's Treasure Oil!!!!
Do you think deity difficulty is similar to civ 6?
Already looking forward to your tier lists, especially the music ones were fire
Civ VI players, probably: This should be patched out maybe
Civ V players: Don't you dare
Double range pillaging + double range fleet commander + splash damage, seems like a combo that will be nerfed like the Tomyris+Magnus combo was.
boes is back baby
How did the religion gameplay land for you? I'm altogether new to Religion game mechanics in Civ, so I'm curious to hear your thoughts on this system.
38:37 - why didn't you receive any gold from the natural wonder?
@boesthius, about time man, been waiting forever for another play through. Cheers.
I've been watching a lot of previews and civ7 seems like they have fixed a lot of things from civ6, Huzzah!!
Examples;
1. Map generation and starting positions.
2. Micromanagement or workers and cities.
They have however created/not fixed a few problems.
Examples:
1. It is too easy to protect your flanks in combat, which makes combat play out like a WW1 strategic battle. Units are way too cheap and prolific.
2. They need to allow civs to own territory outside of a town or city radius. Forward settling by the AI, or even in multiplayer, completely destroys immersion in the game.
3. The world is tiny. By the end of the Antiquity age, there is no wilderness.
The biggest problem is that the Civs are all idealized versions of themselves, so they suffer no challenges they only have bonuses. While this is very PC the game just becomes an exercise in stacking bonuses. There is no trying to avoid stacking weaknesses, making the game half as interesting. That necessitated the adding of an arbitrary crisis mechanic; you get to choose your crisis, really? Plague just falls out of the sky? It isn't due to bad sanitation and overcrowding?
Prepared for Ashoka to declare on you, everyone else declares on you instead
I love the theme that is playing around 41:53 whose theme is that?
it's actually this song!: ua-cam.com/video/7k2NTblCVis/v-deo.html - the whole music backing in this video is from this whole album
Merci mec, very looking fw to play next week.
Congrats on 104k!!! Dave did it!!!!!
Nobody expects the Spanish Majapahit!
game looks great but WTF is that music?
Haha I think that's Boes' music.
Sweet. I'm thinking of giving it a try😊
Are “Monay” and “I am fond of pigs” in civ vii though very important question fr
So if you wanted to extend the time you have in the Age can you just park all your treasure fleets in your territory and pop them all at once when youre ready for the crisis or transition? That sounds like a real dick move to just suddenly end the age in multiplayer
I like the idea of the age transitions but damn, this means that if your'e on a roll you'll have less time to enjoy it. Hopefully someone will make a mod that let's you play just one age (or at least postpone going to the next one).
There is in fact a setting to make the individual ages last longer (or shorter). It's different to game speed, which makes tech faster (or slower) to reach.
Very glad to see Deity AI being a little aggro!
This is like the fourth video I’ve seen where they didn’t do any science legacy path in the exploration age, is it really that bad?
I liked the video. I did it for Dave and because it's Boesday :D
treasure fleet dipped in mama lizzie's chili oil???
what is this soundtrack?
54:53 I don't think that's strong at all? The civic itself probably costs at least 200 culture, which means you need to convert 8 settlements just to break even. Eight is a lot! And that's with my made-up cost of 200; it could easily be more expensive.
It's repeatable - at least it was when I had played at this time. I'll say that it's tough to tell HOW worth it is because we don't know how much each tech/civic actually costs :(
@boesthius Repeatable doesn't make it better if it's already not worth it. I dunno, maybe I'm underestimating how many cities you convert and you're flipping like thirty? But that's a ton of missionaries. I can't help but feel like spending culture on a long-term investment is a poor plan, even if the return was good, which is questionable.
o7 for the ship 2025-2025
Ursa bear in chat
Cetbang is pronounced Cet as in the name Chet but lose the H, and Bang with an ung sound as in the word hung.
Man, can't wait for this game. I'm tweaking
Zhang Jia Jie pronunciation: (1) Zh- is sort of like the "dg" part of the word "judge." And A's are long A's so it would be dg-ong. So try saying judge-ong, and then take out the "ju-" part. It's a really foreign sound to the English language so don't sweat it too much. (2) Jia rhymes with yeah. (3) Jie rhymes with "eh" like the sound you make when something is mediocre ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I kinda wish getting a relic felt more impactful. Seeing a small icon pop up in the corner seems a little meh. Also treasure fleets should have to return to a wharf tile to unload and maybe a quick cinematic camera shot of your first treasure fleet unloading.
I have a feedback/wishlist list that I've sent to them and that is one of the things. Even just a pop-up like in Civ 6 when you would get a religious relic would be nice!
oh great. i hope this feedback carries into the modern age for artifacts. The short they put out a week ago didn't show what happens when you acquire an artifact
I hope they fix this whole “AI declaring war on you out of the blue” issue. Makes no sense whatsoever.
Cant wait for u to see Himiko
Well, well, I know now how I will spend my next hour 😁
"shet-ban(g)"
And due to the awful age mechanic this is exactly to a t how every single exploration Age game is going to go with near zero differences
fun times

Wait, THERE'S NO BUILDERS??? Don't know if I love it or hate it
yeah it...takes a bit to get used to lol
C in Indonesian is like j in English, so I believe it's pronounced Jetbang
Age progress is too fast, I hope there is a way to set the limit higher.
@OneCreator87 there is, in an upcoming video I have it set so the age takes linger to progress
@@boesthius Thanks man, I am looking up for it!
Questions about obtaining mountain tiles. Can you obtain Mountain tiles to push out your boundaries? I see them not letting it, if only the INCA can work mountain tiles. Only during the exploration phase. What I am trying to get at specifically is how do you grow a city past a mountain range if you can't push your boundaries there. I don't think you can.
you're right I don't think you can. Unless there's a tunnel improvent in the Modern Age.
You can work the Natural Wonders tho, gives an Expedition tile.
@ I’ve see some play throughs were they had a mountain range and a resource on the other side. With the hour limitation they never got to the answer, but as I understand it. You won’t be able to get the resource even though it is within 3 tiles of the city, because you can’t grow there.
56:21 uhh 👄
Steve blessed you
cetbang is pronounced chut-bung, chut like churn bung like bungle. 👍
They are going to fix how clunky the UI looks right?
Regarding cetbang, the 'c' in Indonesian is like English 'ch'
