i feel like it depends on the game for me... but I'd want more game for my dollar generally, or at least replay value. some of my favorite games are around the 5-6 hour mark... but they were also like $30

Depends. If it's a game that has fulfilling gameplay but gets it all into a short package for a reasonable price, then yeah, it can be great. My problem with HB2 is that it could have literally been a movie at this point. No meaningful gameplay is there. The combat and puzzles are lackluster, and they drag it out with mocaped animations that are limited. Games that are criticized as movie games like God Of War have more meaningful gameplay in its first 10 minutes than HB2. HB1 was a nice game with gameplay we all thought would get expanded on. Not to something like GoW, but just add a few more attacks and combos to flesh out Senua's combat capabilities and maybe have a branching story arch that encourages replay. People compare it to Stray, but Stray has some engaging cat gameplay and puzzle solving. If they doubled Senua's movements for everything she does, the game would literally be like 2, maybe 3 hours long. Not to mention, there's absolute no replayability to be had with something like HB2. Hell, Hades 2 has so much replay value but is very short and worth the price of admission.

Dunno how the algorithm decided to show me this… But this is GREAT!! I didn’t expect this to be so nuanced! Well played!!!

The last game I bought at full price was Fallout 4. My backlog is way too big for me to be shelling out $70 on a game to sit on my shelf for years, then seeing it on sale for $30 or less by the time I get around to playing it. That said, if I was buying new full priced games, and I didn't have a massive backlog, I'd want some play time for my money's worth.

I feel like Ratchet and Clank was just a showcase. And they picked a franchise they were willing to sacrifice. Unfortunately. Because an open world ratchet and clank would be dope.

Legit for me its just the price. Im looking at a $100 or more sometimes now taxes not included and often times even if the game was great it kinda just leaves you feeling like you just tossed out a work day for the cost spent.

Exactly. But people act weird if you're annoyed at a 5 hour game for 70 bucks

If the story is to and filled with excitement the only downside is that we want more. Short games are find

Seems like they could have spent less time just making Hellblade 2 as a miniseries or a couple of movies instead of over half a decade for what amounts to a glorified tech demo.
(Also, I've been away for a few months but I see those fitness goals kicking in. Good work!)

In Ontario games are $100, so if it's less than 20 hours long im simply not buying it. I'll wait for a sale or a service like game pass or ps plus

Not all of them. You can make it work. If you’ve never played the game “inside” I highly recommend it because that’s a perfect example.

this guy was also aware it was only 7.5 hours and opted out then as well. And that was before it was a AAA property.

@@SolaceAndDread If you give a shit about anything beyond runtime, though it appears not, I'd ask that you set aside a little bit of time to see how the first game was made. The research into mental illness, etc. It was a phenomenal game on a tiny budget. It also left folks in tears at the end like your fave game.
Maybe this new one will suck, I'm just beginning. Who knows.

That's great but that care could have been put into a series and absolutely nothing would change the experience you'd have. That's the problem. You would get the same experience out of a $13 movie ticket as you dp with this full priced game. The gameplay in every aspect is 100% meaningless and not in any way engaging.

I feel like games that cost the "AAA" price should atleast be 8 hours and have a lot of replayability. That's just my personal opinion. I've also played a lot of great and short games but i also didn't pay $70 for them. 😂

No, the length of the game never really classifies if a game is good or bad, but when the length of the game is in question, it’s more about the price…

Would you pay 70 bucks for a 5 hour game?

    • @bluegrave4376
      @bluegrave4376 Місяць тому

@@SolaceAndDreadif the game is more of a cinematic experience than an actual game, no I would not pay a full $70 dollars.
For example, I would be willing to pay double the price for Hades 2 since that game has so much replayability to it despite it being a game that can be "finished" in a few hours.
As a direct comparison, I wouldn't want to pay for Hellblade 2 until it's at least 50% of the full price because it's a game that you only play once and you only really play it for a few short hours.
Yet another example are DMC games. I'll gladly pay full price for those games even if you can finish the main story in a few hours because there's still so much fun you can have with the game after that initial playthrough.
